Is it considered beta if I have to use a spotter for bench press?

Is it considered beta if I have to use a spotter for bench press?

no

no

>Another guys balls in your face
>not beta
pick one

It's worse being trapped under the weight and qts are watching.

No, but it is retarded if the spotter is deadlifting the weight for you

Not if a QT comes over to save you and you get her number (and eventually sex) as a result

yes
you should be willing to crush your ribcage if you're too weak to lift the weights

>not getting spotted by your gf

wew lad

Lol benching is beta exersice

Alphas do 5 k push ups a day like tyson

>>QT saves you
>>Isn't turned off by a weaker man.

Go for it, user. Report back with your findings.

no, they are necessary so you can go past failure

I'll spot you, just be warned I only wear basketball shorts and boxers.

...

flat bench? not if it's over 1.5* bw

anything else? yes

yesterday i was benching 225 for reps, trying to go for that 7th rep, couldn't make it, got stuck, had to roll bar into lap, gym was full and no one even noticed, mfw

If the gym was full, why didn't you grab a rando for a spot? You got lucky, user. Not because no one saw, but you didn't crush your sternum.

But he would have looked gay if he had to use a spotter

how would i crush my sternum with 225 lbs breh

>not having your gym bro ejaculate into your mouth mid-set for that sweet test boost
>making it

Pick one

Gravity?? Your arms give out and you can't control the decline and it crashes down on your chest. I know you are a big bad mofo, but it doesn't take much to crack bone.

>it doesn't take much to crack bone

t. weak boned cuck bitch

>bench heavy
>fail a rep
>put bar on neck
>choke and die
>put bar on chest
>be stuck untill someone helps you

or

>ask spotter
>fail rep
>spotter steps in
>free

whats more beta son?

Spotters are only good for unracking the weight. With any decent amount of weight (250lb+) you really ought to use a power cage with rails at chest height.
It's annoying to wait for a cage and set up but spotters always find a way to look away when your muscles lock up. Can't trust em.

I think it really comes down to people simply having poor social skills. Throw in a room full of egos and test, it's no wonder people don't ask for help.

Just roll the fucking bar man~
You shouldn't be benching the weight that you can't roll

Or, you can ask for a spot. I don't see what the big deal is lol.

I used a spotter once, it was my first attempt at benching 280lbs. I failed really close to the bottom, and instead of helping he put a few fingers under the bar and barely pushed up, demanding that I push it up. I didn't have the strength for that left and when he finally realized that he started pushing the bar up and slammed it back into the rack as hard as possible. I guess it's cool to try and push someone, but I didn't know him and he didn't know me, either gonna use the cage from now own or just give direction before I lay down.

Snatching it up is how my strength coach does it, but we go to absolute failure so he knows that's the limit. 10/10 normies will do the "it's all you" two-finger bs, but that's where communication beforehand comes in. Don't let that discourage you from using a spotter though.

I never even count the rep if the spotter's hands so much as brush the bar. I suppose it's on me to communicate more but it feels so dickish to lay down a bunch of rules prior to the exerise. Beats having some dumb shit go down though.

I always ask for a spot on my working sets. You won't have anything to hold you back psychologically and they're there is shit does get bad

the moment i went down for the seventh rep it never left my chest, all i had to so was roll the bar down to my lap. Is it dangerous to do that with big weight?

>Actually complaining about getting a good spotter

How have you gotten to that kind of weight for bench and not had multiple people do spotting the proper way like that? Just yell out take it or something if you really can't push it any more

When I fail, I fail at the bottom and the bar obviously isn't going up. I'd really prefer someone to mostly take the weight at that point. It was the first time I was actually worried about getting the weight up, that's why I haven't used spotters before. I also joined a new gym with different pegs on the bench, the old one I went to had some lower pegs that you could dump the bar onto if it wasn't going up.

Why is it dickish? Just be nice about it, dunno then again I do socialise far too much (Fun to discuss routines and shit with strong people but my god it makes the training longer I regret it) in the gym so I have no issues telling a guy how to spot for me.

How far into failure are you going? Or are you doing too much weight or are you weak or something? Like seriously, I've never done a weight that I can't control on the way down even if it's a 1RM and I can't push it up anymore.

Being so weak your gf can spot you
Are u even trying to make it?

Communication is key there then. Make sure to tell your spotter to snatch it up right away. I always make sure to tell a spotter what I''m aiming for before hand.

This. I hate the "It's all you!" crap. You helped, it's fine. That's why I asked you to spot. Don't try and give me some BS motivation crap.

Is it beta to have a spotter when you're benching dumbells?

Negatives are important, if you tell your spotter you're failing a rep... you should still keep pushing like a mother fucker... the spotter should TOUCH the bar underneath with a few fingers per hand and lift GENTLY enough for the bar to begin moving up slowly... but allow you to continue doing the majority of the work.

...

That's why it's called an accident, user. You don't expect it to happen. What if you lock out at the top and hyperextend your elbow?

>not cracking every bone in your body to make them stronger

My weights room is pretty small and busy, if a guy is about to fail a bench usually someone runs up and saves him. It's a good, brotherly feeling.

This.
Never skip neck vertebreh day

Not him but I sneakily make my gf do diddlys so she can spot me doing decline press.

Yeah man. Yeah.

Look. you can roll it, but what if suddenly, you have a FUCK I CAN'T MOVE CRAMP.

Or, if you start to roll and the bar leaves a welting bruise down your fucking body.
Shit sucks man. Spotting partner is supercomfy.

> No big, protective shik at your gym, roaring out encouragements as you lift until your body starts to spew blood, looking at his massive bulge and headwrap as he laughs at the bending bar and heavy weight his friend is lifting.
> Why even lift if no one around to share it with?

>decline press
Pretty much a useless exercise tbf and extremely dangerous if you were to fail. Just do flat bench.
>muh pectoral activation
or do weighted dips.
>muh rotator cuff
>fedora tipping meme
fuck off

No, not really. However, I never use spot, because I kind of like the logic behind what Dom (Mazzeti) said about using smith for bench press - it is for fucking quitters, you can just re-rack whenever it gets hard. That is not how life works, you can't fucking re-rack life, when it gets hard. I have had to do roll of shame twice in my life, still no regrets, still no spotter.

Absolutely.

You gotta go 110% 1x10 sets for true gains and no spotter so that the fear of death motivates your muscles bruh.

Yes. I bench inside the power rack in my bedroom. Beta faggots.

Nigga wut, I always tell the spotter "I will do 5 reps, not 4, not 6 - just fucking 5, you don't touch the barbell until you see it coming back down to my chest in the concentric phase, you don't speak to me, you don't encourage me, you don't ask me any questions, just spot".

No, you might bruise your shoulders really badly like I did

nothin wrong with doing a controlled roll of shame, especially with 2 plates

i've done it a few times, people are usually freaked out, but you just have to sort of dump it forward as you shift your weight so you can sit up, bar lands around your pelvis

If you aren't using a spot you are lifting relatively small weight for your strength.
Just man up and ask some one for fucking spot. Whats beta is worrying so much about what other people think to the point of risking injury.

yes apart from one occasion

where you lift till failure, you are trying to go for one big rep that is well above what you are used to

if you are comfy at say ie 100kg and you think it would be mad to try 140 for a laugh its best to have a mate spot you.

Florence Nightengale Effect bruh

Women are turned off by weakness unless you're really really weak. Then their protective motherly instincts kick in and suddenly you've got a one way ticket to Awkward Sex Town

yes, pussy
the best motivation is death

Honestly if someone is stupid enough to try that they probably should be left alone to decapitate themselves.

You a pussy if you use a spotter for your first reps of the day

>Awkward Sex Town
Still better than Snap City

my gym has a bunch of these assisted squat racks. and a few of them have benches in them. use those for bench presses or incline bench press. Its what I do to bench without a spotter and without killing myself.

>He doesn't know
I wish I was that new again the gains were overflowing.

w-what don't I know

Yeah, fuck those gains thieves who can't wait to row your bench.

Are you a Durarara! fan?

>assisted squat racks
Why, Mr Anderson?

doing lifts on a smith machine is bad because stabilizing the weight is an important part of the lift.

huh. i guess its time to jump ship on it.

You sound like a bitch
