>please do not start threads about events taking place less than 25 years ago
Well shit, you're right. Didn't realize things that happened in the past aren't history according to this board.

I move we alter the sticky to be less than 10 years ago.

RIP. is this the 131st MRB that was all but annihilated during the storming of Grozny? or just some random unit in big trouble?

2 Books I can recommend on this topic:

>One Soldier's War
Explicit first-hand account of a radioman in both Chechen wars, detailing the absolute state of the Russian army at the time.

>Fangs of the Lone wolf
Battle reports with maps and commentaries from actual commanders who were there. Covers both wars. Great reading if anyone is interested in the nitty-gritty tactics.

>is this the 131st MRB
Yep.

Shieet.

This was one video that initially sparked my interest in the period:

I'm getting a lot of arma2 feels from this

There's bound to be an arma 2 chechnya mod out there...

the section in Pripyat in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl is probably pretty close to Chechnya - massive urban combat with AKs and RPGs and snipers and the odd vehicle iirc

Here's some Chechens with the AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher, which was used on both sides.
