Day 12 of my fast, lost 33lbs so far. Pretty happy with myself rn.

Does anyone else get stronger through their workout?
On OMAD, feel weak as shit on my first sets, but the further I go in the stronger I feel.

Doing OMAD for three weeks now, haven't lost that much weight, unfortunately. I'm considering doing alternate daily fast or just some long water fasting.

My reason not do it is basically just economical, I can eat a meal a day for free everyday, but with alternate daily fasting I'd have to pay for some of my meals which is actually kind of difficult right now. As for water fasting, I wouldn't have problem with salt, but at which point should I start to worry about potassium and stuff? I don't want to buy multivitamins.

You can buy those vitamin supplement things to drip into your water.

AFAIK with water fasting the primary trip up is salt deficiency

Multivitamins are like 2£ for 30 pills you won't die to spend that little money

But multivitamins actually have some calories right? I know it won't make much of a difference for weight loss but I'd want the "side benefits" from fasting like cell recycling and shit.

Instead of wasting time writing this post you could've just googled it to see that multivitamins don't have calories

They actually do have some calories.

Sodium, potassium and magnesium can be taken without breaking your fast

They don't interact the same as coffee for example which does break your fast

people like you are why general threads moved to reddit. even the OP has research papers posted to prove that coffee does not break your fast and benefits autophagy, but stupid broscience fucks like you have to insert your opinions as facts to confuse people

there are zero calorie multis, but a lot of the vitamins won't be utilized during a fast. salts are enough.

All right. I'll check monday where I can find a place to buy potassium/magnesium from. I'll think about the best plan to do a prolonged fast, probably going to aim for a 5 day fast and see if I can go longer than that.

Coffee has to be metabolized

So does oxygen. Neither has calories.

How? Are you supplementing with meth or something or are you so fat that you have swimming pool of water weight caught up in your fatness?

Average people burn maybe 2000 calories in a day. Fitness types tend to burn 3000 in a day. The amount of calories in a pound of fat is 3500. Thats one pound a day at most of fat loss even if you ate nothing yet you're burning through almost 3 lbs of fat a day.

>he doesn't burn oxygen for those sweet ozone gains

not gonna make it

fasted 36hrs, passed out in the steam room and pissed myself

how much water are you guys drinking per day?

Enough so it's still a little yellow and not much more.

How fucking badly did you condition yourself that you can't make it past 1 and a half days without passing out and soiling yourself?

idk where you're getting the maths for 3lbs of fat a day, everyone knows that the first days of fasting you lose water weight and poop. Lurk more

>coffee breaking fasts

Op here, please fuck off and kill yourself rhonda patrick IDF, if you want to spouse your shit then I implore you to beat me to /TakingVitaminDandHavingProbiotic/ General. Until then, keep your guesstimates to yourself and fuck off while the rest of us get joocy

Who here /nocum/ while also /fast/ ?
I'm just nutting on sundays.

You can't burn oxygene, can you?

you're retarded, the reasoning behind coffee not being ok, is that it has to be metabolized by your liver. If this is the case, sodium, potassium and magnesium are also off your plate.
seriously, there are people who don't take vitamins during month long fasts and you're worrying about vitamins in OMAD.
I wan't momscience to leave

bump

Fasting is difficult. I'm on my first day. It seems unnatural to me to just not eat. I'm having to do things to distract myself.

youtube.com/watch?v=d6PyyatqJSE
Great talk about fasting and fast mimicking diet

believe me, you get used to it. it took me just over a week, but now I don't even think about food until noon, even when people are eating near me

I work at a grocery store and it's hard to fast. Wat do?

git gud. I work at an office with slobs who always have bowls of candy on their tables. our coffee rooms also have all sorts of delicious temptations for free. fridays are especially hard since we have an open buffet from 8 -10 with all sorts of goodies. I've managed to work there for 4 months without people even knowing I'm fasting

I managed to 20-4 while working at a restaurant with a more or less 'employees eat free' rule. You can do it, just biggest thing to remember is to when you find yourself thinking about food, start thinking of something else. Practicing meditation helps.

It’s hard.

Day 3 of water fast, 210->207, probably just water weight but w/e. I can still drink plain tea right? I've heard conflicting opinion.

I'm going to try to keep going at least until I'm comfortably enough below 200 lbs (maybe 195) that I can stay below 200 through refeeding and beyond. Hopefully that won't be more than another 10 days or so, I feel like complete garbage desu, still waiting for the "hunter's high" or whatever.

Tea, coffee is ok as long as there’s no added sugar.

There's no way it's only water with a 5k calorie deficit.

alright, I've heard people saying you shouldn't on here but maybe they were just shitposting, I'll keep drinking it

I don't see how you got a 5k deficit? my TDEE is only 2200k. I guess even that means about 1.8 lbs of it was fat, hopefully it was

Day 4 of 10

When does the mental need for food disappear? Like I have no hunger pangs thanks to all the water but I'm still wanting to eat for the sake of eating.

Gonna do a 5 day, what are yalls experiences with working out during an extended?

Not bad desu. Just making sure I get some electrolytes before or after helps with energy levels for the rest of the day.

>When does the mental need for food disappear?
It doesn't

It has been a month since I have finished my 30 day water fast. I went from 230 to 180 pounds (5 10'') (I have lost even more since then). I only broke the fast three times, and each was about a week apart and only to keep the fact that I wasn't eating a secret (can't have fatty friends trying to guilt and rob my gains). One month out I am still in a caloric defecit (about 600 kcal a day), so a pretty decent cut, but any food after a month of nearly nothing is a lot better. I am currently lifting ever other day and I have never felt better. Ask me any questions you would like.

Your cravings should be gone by now, maybe it is mental. However, after my 2nd week of not eating I would legit dry heave and have intense cramps so maybe you won't get those if you are lucky.

How long were you fasting before hand, like did you build up to the 30day? How long did it take for the hunger to stop?

Starting fasting today, going to see if I can go 14 days. Did a 3 day one before so we'll see how it goes.

How do people survive office jobs while fasting?

Don't you feel exhausted while working?

its the complete opposite on fasting dude, u feel more energized and clear in the head

No way

Explain your experience

My experience is what I said, more energy, clear in the head, no fogginess, can think fast, keto and fasting is the best.

Right away?

I'm starting keto today, give me advice. What should I eat and what should I do. Tips

Nah not right away, you will have keto flu for a while at first, maybe a week, make sure you eat a lot of vitamin and mineral rich foods like spinach, obviously eat a lot of fatty foods, fish, meat with high % of fat, butter, low carb, no bread, pasta or any shit like that.

Just google "reddit keto" and get info there. The fatter you are the less carbs and protein you need in your diet.

Just by the natural way ketosis works, I only feel hungry every 24h if that, so I do fasting just naturally on keto, because fat keeps you full much longer, once you're fat adapted, which will take about a week or more if you have diabetes, then you'll barely feel hunger at all.

I usually make low carb kebab with cheese on top, basically eat pizza toppings daily and i lose weight. :)

But the most important aspect for fast and healthy weight loss is the fasting. Extended fasts, about 5 days in make you feel AMAZING like you've never felt before. The first 4 days are shit.

Btw I only eat 1 meal a day, so I have this huge delicious meal with all my macros for the day and i'm good until 24h later. Don't ever count calories, the more calories you eat, the better in the longrun.

Check out Jason fung "caloric deficit" and how it's bullshit and will only hurt you long term.

Should I aim for more protein? Did you keep lifting during keto and fasting?

You only feel hungry once a day? What time do you eat?

How has this affected your relationships and sex drive?

Can you post more meal ideas?

Keto = high fat, medium to low protein, extremely low carbs.

So: 100g of fat, 70-50g of protein, 20 or less grams of carbs, that's basically my daily food intake.

Yes, I only feel hunger once a day, if that. Sometimes I go 2 days without eating because I forget to eat because I'm not hungry. (I never thought this was possible btw since I was a kid I was hungry constantly, I always felt I needed to eat sweet things etc, that's completely gone now and it went away within the first week on keto)

I am happier, my relationship is good, my sex drive is better, the real cause for shit sex drive is porn for me at least so I need to stop watching that shit, but my life has improved beyond anything I thought was even possible.

If you want meal ideas, go to ruled.me and check their stuff out, I usually get ideas there.

How much have you lost over how long? How old?

What about lifting?

I used to be 340lb at age 25
I'm 26 now and I'm at 170lb

I did no working out at all, I am now since I enjoy being fit with a six pack, but back then, nah, none.

Although it would have been better if I did since muscle makes you lose fat faster and increases insulin sensitivity.

Holy shit huge difference! You got pics? How tall?

Loose skin? That must have changed your life completely!

>ITT: "I don't have the willpower to eat like picrelated or exercice, so I'm doing a yo-yo diet"

Guess what, you don't get to cancel years of shit eating with a couple of weeks of your hunger strike.
Watch your weight go up as soon as you start eating again.

I have pics but i'm on the laptop and pc is all the way over there. (I'm still lazy lol)

I am 178cm, average

No loose skin. This was only achievable because of the extended fasts. The links in this thread talk about it, it's called "autophagy" skin is protein. So when you fast, your body is eating the protein and sustains the muscle = no loose skin.

I did not do high protein shit at all, I had so much weight and skin, my body just ate itself and I did not need to substitute.

You have no idea what you're talking about lol.

Thanks!

ANy more tips?

Electrolytes, electrolytes, electrolytes and drink a lot of water. You'll see how you will get more thirsty, because your body cannot hold on to water (because no carbs) so keep that in mind or you will feel sick as hell.

Lol but aren't you a ketofag?
Keto actually works to lose fat, but it's garbage to build any serious muscle mass

Does keto damage your muscles?

actually there's a fairly big overlap between fasters and people who eat paleo/keto

oh and there's nothing stopping you from exercising while fasting

basically just don't post again itt

Lol? Keto increases growth hormones, so does fasting = you build muscle faster and keep them healthier, because of autophagy eats the useless dead muscle cells and replaces them.

Please stop with the bullshit ignorance. It's been going on for over 50 years in so called modern "science". Proven wrong every single time.

>Keto increases growth hormones, so does fasting = you build muscle faster and keep them healthier, because of autophagy eats the useless dead muscle cells and replaces them

What a load of broscience garbage. Post your pic with height/weight, let's see that keto muscle mass

Broscience, lol. The links are up there for everything you need to know, especially Jason Fung has scientific data, it is a proven fact that keto and fasting shoot growth hormones through the roof. You sound like a little bitch, do what you want dude, count your calories, keep eating those carbs. I'm out and no I wont show you pics, I am lazy and frankly, I don't give two fucks if you believe it or not. This thread literally has all the resources you need to find out.

yes

And no pics or weight/height... sad
You're probably new to this whole lifting and dieting thing, but I've been lifting for 7 years now.
I tried keto and gave up after a month; my lifts were declining and so was my muscle mass. And yes I did intensely researched keto during a whole month before starting, tried to ajust things on the fly but eventually came to the conclusion that it's shit
Paleo + whole grains is the optimal diet

did 21 days of water fasting, going back to omad which is my favorite way of eating. i'm not stepping on the scale for at least 2 weeks, you should all do the same after water fasting, i know it's not fat that comes back and i can verify it because my size L shirt still fits better than ever but man it still fucks my mind up to see that sudden increase from food weight and water weight

Would doing keto for a day or two prior to water fasting subtract a day or two off the initial hunger and get you from starvation to fasting earlier?

does anyone know about this guy?
youtube.com/watch?v=AxV0qKq2UFQ
Snake diet,It's basically fasting as long as you can, breaking the fast in the shortest window possible, and then going back to fasting.

What are good keto meals?

Deep fried chicken, but use saw dust instead of flour

Has it hard to focus on daily activities? Do you think you could've studied really hard while fasting?

you do realize that this GH increase is not enough to provide increase in muscle mass or even have any noticeable benefits whatsoever, right? Yeah, this guy is right you're probably a newfag.

Anyone else here smoke weed when they fast?

I find it gets rid of my hunger and nausea.
Munchies are easy to ignore.

You some kind of homosexual trying to suck dick?
I already posted weight, height, age. Fucking brainlet.

GH is increased and preserves muscle mass, if you workout, it will make sure you add muscle mass because your body is not a retard. Learn science, and that cuck talking about doing keto for a month, fucking KEK'D irl so hard I didn't even respond to him, pure moron. He didn't even get fat adapted in a month.

On day 2 of a soft dry fast (I took a slower). This is not a recommended type of fast for beginners whose bodies are not fully fat adapted.

Friday night: 212.4
Saturday morning: 210.8
Sunday morning: 207.4
As if now... 206.6

Keto strips are absolutely the darkest I've ever seen. Head feels like its on th verge of a headache but its been there all morning. I'm holding out for as long as I can, maybe a few more days.

Nah, problem is I want to be able to overcome the feelings and urges for th long term... so suppressing them defeats the purpose.

The snake juice he has posted makes it a lot easier. Keeping your electrolytes up really makes it easier to go and go without hitting a wall or getting headaches.

This guy is right, If you'd actually check out the talks and the articles IN THE FUCKING OP, THERE FOR YOU TO READ. You'd see that HGH spikes to up to 300% of it's normal free blood levels after just 23 hours of fasting, and can go even higher into an extended fast.

You say it's not enough to affect muscle mass, but the fact that NEAR-DEATH DIABETICS who were put onto a 21 day fasting protocol actually GAINED .2kg of lean mass on average speaks volumes to the efficacy of fasting as a muscle preservative and muscle building tool.
If you keep wanting to be a fag, I implore you to go to leangains.com and see any of the hundreds of success stories.
Feel free to come crawling back once you've seen the light

>dry fast
nigger are you fucking kidding me, the one way to make a good thing super dangerous, possibly deadly, and a guarantor of organ/system damage and you do it

I did a 14 day fast earlier this year. Actually made gains during the first week on squats, deadlift, ohp, and bench, but the second week I was struggling as you can expect, to maintain same lifts.

diet doctor posts a lot of recipes, just check it in the morning along with their articles.

I didn't have to think up a single last thing because of a bunch of plate/casserole ideas
Made keto philly cheesesteak twice

My experience is that it doesn't but it will deminish. It will do so sooner on subsequent fasts, but I think my first extended fast was day 8 or 9. It will be different for you.

Dry fasting will only cause organ damage if its prolonged, like in an actual starvation scenario. This will probably last another day or two max, then I'll sip water all day.

Does fasting affect your dick?

yes, it will double in size and grow warts

Fuck are the warts worth the size increase?

not if you're already 9 inches like me

i've gone back to normal eating after fasting. did a 7 day fast and ever since i've been eating normally i've always had tons of gas. feel really bloated at work somedays, as soon as i get home i'm farting up a storm. does fasting mess with your gut bacteria at all? i don't remember being like this before the fast

Tell us about your seven day fast

Did it make work really hard?

work was normal. i worked my way up to a 7 day, did 2 days fasting or 3 days fasting now and then. omad the rest of the time.

energy levels were fine. weird thing was that on day 5 and 6 my stomach was growling whereas it had been fine the previous days. that was uncomfortable but i wasn't ravenously hungry.

i didn't break my fast like you're supposed to though. didn't reintroduce myself to food so i felt nauseous the following days due to eating normal food.

basically this gas problem means i'm gonna go back to fasting and keto because i can't be dealing with this.

Can you give examples of your typical omad meals? Keto, yeah? What time do you eat?

How has fasting changed you?

i eat when i get back from work.

pretty standard food really. usually some kind of meat for protein, i always have egg in some form with my meal, then for veg i can choose between brocolli, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach. sauerkraut or kimchi are great because fermented cabbage is full of good bacteria for your gut. full of fiber.

fasting changes the way you think about food. you begin to look at food more as fuel than as a treat. which is good and bad depending on how you look at it. like going omad sometimes i have to force myself to eat enough food and i don't really care all that much about what it is, personally i'm not so fussed about eating 'delicious' food like i used to be.

my stomach no longer growls at breakfast or lunch. those are no longer my 'natural' eating hours.

also more steady energy levels. i don't feel shit in the morning.

dunno how exercise would affect things, currently not doing enough.

How many calories are you getting in one meal? I feel like it would be hard to eat ~2000 cals in one sitting while maintaining keto macros.

How much weight did you lose over how long?

i wasn't really keeping track of numbers. nor my weight. only metric i had was the amount of loose skin i could feel and the notches on my belt.

How big of a change was it? How quick did it happen? Do people comment? Did you start out fat?

wasn't a huge change for me because i started keto last year.

only started fasting after doing a bit of research about it and what i saw on Veeky Forums, doing intermittent fasting properly and then trying longer fasts. first few weeks of intermittent fasting are tough if you have a job because your stomach will be growling during the times you would normally be eating. where i work it can be pretty quiet so my stomach growling was pretty audible. but i stuck with it and now it no longer happens.

people don't comment because i don't tell them i'm fasting. only people i told were my close relatives, didn't tell my parents because if i told them i wasn't eating they'd worry about me. if anything they want me to eat more.

been fat all my life. still pretty fat which is why i need to get back into the saddle with fasting. last long term fast was pretty successful so i'm keen to do it again, the only problem i really have is fucking social engagements where i'm expected to eat. those always annoy me. i have enough fat on me to try a proper long term fast, like a month at least, and i have plenty of supplements to accommodate it. it's just that i can't go a month without friends inviting me to a meal or a family celebration etc and i have a serious problem telling other people 'no' whereas i can easily do it with myself (i can deny myself a meal easily thanks to fasting and the satiety it gives you)

if it's something you want to do, do your research, i could go on and on about it but in the end what works for me won't work for everyone else. fasting will never be a mainstream thing, it seems too extreme and that's why i hesitate when people ask me about it. i don't want the responsibility if it fucks you up (which it can, if you do it wrong, but it's like that with weight lifting too you just have to do your research and be mindful).

Thanks man! Good job and appreciate it
