Should men in the middles ages work out?

Should men in the middles ages work out?

What program is best?

anything that isn't hard on the back

>middle ages
Does jousting count? That armor is heavy.

Lmao

So basically no deadlifts or squats

5x5 warhammer swings
3x5 pillage
3x8-10 longbow fire
2x20 steal your neighbor's livestock
1x10 petition the king for gainz

if you want abs, do 1 set of prayers to your patron saint till failure

supplement this either with HIIJ (high intensity interval jousting) or if you want something more steady state, you could always go on crusade

top kek

>not going on a permacrusade
>making it
pick one

...

What kind of fucking stupid question is this

what kind of fucking stupid advice is this

Yes and just do whats most comfortable to you

orbital kek

You know training needs to be adjusted as you age

Well done

That honestly sounds like a great workout.

>3x8-10 longbow fire
This is jokes aside a great practice.

Pretty much the same as a dumbbell row. Why the fuck go out and spend money on a bow and arrow?

It's probably a lot of fun

Yes they should work out. Programming will of course depend in gaols.

Real advice:
as you enter your mid-late 30s. Recovery will be slower. Take a recovery week every 4 or 8 weeks.

FORM FORM FORM
injuries are much much harder to heal, so you must pay attention to form. This means if that last rep is gonna require form breakdown, you don't finish. It's better to miss the rep then push yourself and fuck up.

I bought a hunting bow for fun then realized I had nowhere to shoot it.
t. upper middle class suburb white guy

yes and it does not matter so much
just do the basic exercises
like bench and squat and you should be fine

i disagree. wouldn't it be even MORE important to strengthen the lower back when you're older?

it's very common for middle-aged+ people to throw their back out shoveling snow or picking something up

i laughed at joke

Are you fucking retarded?

If shovelling snow gonna throw their back out what you think deadlifts gonna do

That comes from a weak core and being relatively sedentary overall.
Doing a ton of deadlifts to prevent that is stupid.
Deadlifts only increase the chance of a catastrophic back injury.

Hi dad

That's why you start with babyweight, and work your way up.
Get a 50-60 year old to deadlift 2pl8 (absolutely laughable from a """normal""" strength training perspective), and his life will improve significantly.

At what age should I stop doing deadlifts?

Fight dragons 3x1

WRONG. Deadlifts increase the strength and size of the spinal erectors, making lower back injuries less likely thanks to added stabilization!

Yoga dude seriously other than light weight for reps and cardi thats low impact

31 checking in, did 5 days a week for 4 months and tweaked my back. Now taking a week or two off. The struggle is not a meme.

Damn 31 still sounds kinda young. What happens in your 40s?

user, no one in pro sports or the military does deadlifts.

If they do, they do them sparingly.

Deadlifts are too dangerous a movement to simply do all of the time.

Yes.
If you're banging a nice MILF it's a good way to keep her happy. If you're into teenagers you need to compete a lot.

dick falls off

Is this true?

You become asymmetrical though

>or if you want something more steady state, you could always go on crusade
Soon, brother...

you're fucking retarded kiddo
just admit you don't do deads because you're a pussy

I don't do deads because I'm a pussy.

you are a pussy

I don't do deadlifts because i'm a dicklet soyboy

I am a pussy.

Me too.

everyone should work out

But I'm a pussy.

Barbell lifting in general is not a part of millitary training.
Deadlift is often excluded from pro sport training because its benefit to athletic performance on the field are minimal. The muscles most engaged in deadlift are not particularly taxed in even contact sports.

well there you have it, pleb

no public land?

I'm a pussy.

...

Quoted for bullshit.

Barbell training is the core focus of military physical fitness. Utilising strength programs and progressive overload of deadlift, squat etc has been shown to decrease injury rates during initial training.

Yes, but it has increased injury rapes, i.e. rape with intent to injure.

flats = apartments in britbong lingo

>Almost the entire state of Nevada is owned by the federal government

Holy shit

it's what they had to pay in return for hookers and casinos

Maybe it's different outside the US, but here, barbell lifting is not a part of at least basic training

Hello son,
When are you bringing a girl home? Your ol' man is getting old haha
Sincerely, Dad

Luckily it's mostly uninhabitable desert

Fair enough. In Aus initial training PT is like 2-3 strength sessions per week focused around the big compounds with somr accessories. They did studies and showrd it greatly reduced injuries when recruits went field.

US military does Crossfit

I certainly won't argue with you about whether or not it's a good idea. I think the US methods are too rooted in WWII era traditions, when such training would be practically unfeasible

Calisthenics are only crossfit if you're doing something stupid and dangerous

Nothing. Muscle loss (due to actual age) is minimal from the 20’s to the 40’s. It doesn’t really start to decline until the 50’s.

People are just lazy pieces of shit who make every excuse in the world to avoid fitness. The ole “I’m getting too old” is the most common excuse out there, next to the “I don’t have time” meme.

yeah but UGH

No they don’t. The military trains calisthenics and endurance conditioning.

Sarcopenia only kicks in later in life, yeah, but recovery and anabolism start to decline as early as 35

Strenghten their back to the point where their core muscles can properly support any shovelful of weight and no longer have back issues doing everyday tasks.

You’re right. I’m over 30 but under 50 and, yes, recovery does take a little longer than when you’re 19 or 20 BUT not that much longer. I lift and HIIT six days a week with no issues at all.

HIIT the BRIICKS faggot

Yes, and as heavy as possible.
Given a male in non-sedentary condition, a mix of heavy low rep training, moderate rep strength work, and higher rep work that focuses more on joint health than chasing a pump will do much of what TRT could do for a sedentary male. The remaining health benefits + TRT once you hit you late 40s to 50s should be enough to keep you active until you 70s.

It sucks watching someone 40, and still younger than you, on their second heart attack, multiple back/knee surgeries, and unlikely to hit 55 because they're sedentary

> Petetion the king for gains at gym peasant court, very nervous
> catch his qt wife mirin and flex a sept, wink at king and tell him I'll give his wife ye olde nether-region quest
> wtf did I just say
> put on torture rack until my bones are dust
> snapkingdom

Really not worth imo unless you practice form for years

What does your HIIT routine look like? I want to get into sprinting because squats and diddies makes my lower back feel slightly awkward the next day and I want to mostly replace them with other leg work.

GOMAD (Gallon of mead a day)

Strong posterior chain is not important. Yeah sure dude

That's why so many powerlifters are injuring their backs right? Even Candito had a back injury and he is still a very young man.

I didn't say it wasn't important, I said it wasn't important to hand egg

I downloaded an app called “Seconds” (I think it cost me a couple of bucks) and programmed a round session of 45 second sprints with a 1:30 cool downs. You can program a ton of different sessions all customizable. Ive used it for biking. Peddling hard and fast for 45 seconds with a 1 minute cool down for 10 rounds - repeat the session once. I’ve tried with the rower too. But, honestly, the sprinting sessions have been the best. I just mainly stick to those for now. I’ve been looking into other activities, but most that I’ve found online don’t really appeal to me.

How about you get a nice firm grip on my anterior chain.

I meant to say 10 round session. So, it’s 10 sprints and 10 cool downs - takes about 30 minutes (with the 5 minute warm up).

Older people should probably just do calisthenics and yoga

You do realize you can deadlift less than half a ton? Competitive powerlifting will fuck your shit up, sure, because at the end of the day it's pushing weight you can barely handle again and again

Shut up, faggot.

35 here. Started feeling some discomfort in my lower back and decided after many years that heavy lifting was no longer for me. Bought something like pic related on craigslist for $100 (these sold for $2500 back in the 90s), i now lift comfortably and i still look good. In fact i look better.

no u

No. U.

Many powerlifters snap their shit up with babby weight.

It's never a question of if, it's always a question of when and how bad.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is either a noob or lying to you.

Kettlebells

Srs

My sides

Yes.

SS. Go to the starting strength website and read around. Lots stuff there for older people.

I've been doing something similar. Sprinting hard as I can for about 70 meters, walking back, sprinting again with a couple of double sprints thrown in, and repeat for 30 min.

>double sprints
How many legs do you have, freak?

Damage accumulates, you aren't going to fuck your shit on a 3 plate deadlift or squat unless your spine was already hanging on by a thread

fuck i cried

roids

sprint, walk, sprint, sprint, walk, sprint etc

heh e he

Hi golden one

Use both arms, obviously.

>All jokes aside long bowmen had deformed skellies from exactly this
