Any Veeky Forums stem majors here?

Any Veeky Forums stem majors here?

Is that you? Nigger.

>falling for the stem meme
i shiggy diggy
t.180k looking at some graphs all day

that's jaBig

numbers are cool user

currently working as a research assistant, with mediocre lifts

so am i! what's your field brah?

>STEM fags think they are guaranteed success

News flash, if you dont have a job lined up before you graduate youre fucked. Its hilarious to see shit blow up in all their faces

mathematical physics. It's a pretty cool guy, I get to pretend I have applications for all the cool maths I do.

you?

>implying I give a shit about job prospects when I all want to do is pursue my interests

T. Creative writing major working as shift leader at Starbucks

Software engineering major here. Working as web developer for now, better prospects once I graduate, shit is cash

nah I dropped out as soon as I realized everything is nepotism. I was about to spend 200k to go to law school because I was retarded. I asked my mom who is a high up for an accounting job and now I can work from home making average starting salary of STEM grads and I dont even have a degree

solid job security

computer science and pure mathematics; I'm currently working on some theoretical machine learning with a crew in school, with some flavors of biology and computer networks.

and for the mathematics part, I'm currently writing a report on the Riemann hypothesis

what type of projects do you guys do? Use any software?

most people in STEM are in STEM because they find the topics interesting. Also, the people left without jobs are the ones who didn't do any research or effort in their field and just settle for a desk job. I'm happy for you that you make good money, however I'd find yo ua boring person in real life

What kind of graphs

solid cope. lemme know how engineering spiced coffee at starbucks for thots works out

wow look at this accomplished guy, his mom got him a job

im not boring. I use that money to fund all my hobbies and plan my early retirement. my life is probably much more eventful than yours

>coping by saying im coping
nice1
different person btw. v bright individual you are

I have 0 debt and make more money than most of you so I would say I am bright

>mommy gives me job, that makes me smarter than you

Biology is a STEM major, right? :(

yeah, you want to know the best part? We are jewish. We are smart because we know how the world works and make tons of money off it. You "white" anglos think you will be successful because you got a piece of paper from some limp wristed liberal faggot professor. Granted some of you will get good jobs for sure, but many will just work retail until you can get the scraps after chad, women, and chinks get all the decent engineering positions

>i got a job via nepotism
>everything is nepotism

i should kick your fuckin ass

not really

No software sir, I work in integrability. Currently working on the Calogero-Moser spin model as an example of Hitchin system with a genus 1 base space. Then more general work on Hitchin systems with regards to exact solutions in super symmetry with any luck.

>being jewish
lmao shlomo, gross.

probably too detailed to be b8.
I bet you don't even realize how much of a faggot you are.

I have blonde hair and blue eyes from my dad's side, plus im 6'1. Probably much better looking than you. Life really is unfair for you goyim

>biology
>science.

Wut? Not every stem subject is programming or engineering

Post face

Second year mech engineering.

>third year mech
You are like a child. I hope you enjoy long nights, being tired all the time, and having no social life.
Were going to get that big boy job though right? Right?

3rd year software engineering. Graduating with honors.

I’m going to join the military. So, no?

Yeah, electronics engineer here. Hopefully ill graduate this year. I'd like to do cool shit some day... Invent a flying car or whatever

My man

Dropping out of premed to join the FFL

you're heavily projecting

Im going to do the same thing. I hope darpa wants me

go to /soc/ you fucking faggot

tell us more about these graphs

EE fag reporting in
> looking at some graphs all day
Looking at a terminal emulator all day
I'm looking for excuses to graph shit
Depends on the field and the school
I studied at a pretty based school in my country and there's very high demand here for EE and software engineers.
Nice user, I wish my grades were high enough for that.

financial graphs

>finance
>salaried

lmao no thanks i'll keep my 40 hour week

only like half the board

>yeah, you want to know the best part? We are jewish
worst part desu

>brags about his mom giving him a job
wew

Biology is a women's science. Since STEM is filled with insecure, pathetic, sexist men, bio isn't considered a "real" science.

But it is lol. What men need to realize is that women are taking over this world. Each day they are becoming stronger and stronger. They will soon be at the top of the STEM field too lol.

But to answer Op question, Yes I work out. Me and my gf's other bf work out together and we have a great time talking about issues women face in the STEM field.

>Being this desperate to justify your life to random homos on a Tibetan knitting forum
>Sad!

Graduated with a degree in networking 8 years ago. I've been working as a network admin for the past 5 years, but I'm hoping to transition into a security specialist soon

impressive
very nice

Aerospace engineer checking in. Pretty cool stuff.

don't be such a pussy, it's only like that around midterms and finals season assuming you have time management skills

mech e undergrad isn't that hard

ask me how I knew you were jewish before you even said so, disgusting kike

>Statistician checking in

Data science and probability theory are pretty comfy

>go to uni or college
>doesn't do one or more internship and/or a placement year
do people do this?

I'm an engineering dropout. I'm in a trade now.

me

everyone in my class is either fat or dyel and a lot of them are ugly as phuck. most of the girls are ugly too.

this is gonna sound a whole new level of arrogant but it feels good to be the only decent looking person in the room. plus all the girls want me and i have already fucked the good looking ones.

...

so much this

...

just finished my masters in chemistry

Geology/Math undergrad, Geophysics Grad school. Ended up quitting cause I didn't give a fuck and no jerbs (perfect timing to hit the oil crash a few years back). Now I'm unemployed and occasionally do field work.

7/10

What's geology like, man? I was very tempted to get into it due to the fieldwork- I ended up going for economics instead.

Math PhD. Fucking useless. Went into finance.

>inb4 300k starting salary any job I want

Regretful humanities major here.

I went to Stanford so I fell for the "you're the smartest people ever just follow your dream" memes and studied Latin poetry rather than computer science. I was good at computer science and could have made boatloads of fucking money doing it, but now I'm just a bitter teacher with a fading passion.

Goddammit I could have so easily broken into the moneyed aristocracy and lived any fucking life I wanted to in my freetime

how old are you?

MIT has their entire CS curriculum online for free. Go forth and change your life.

Is maths not enjoyable?
I like maths, was considering doing a bachelor's

Math masters student, currently doing a project on vector bundles in algebraic topology
>tfw pretty hard and had to drop out of some sports
>still lift once in a while tho

Unless you went through Rudin's Principles of Mathematical Analysis in high school for fun, I'd go with CS or some sort of engineering instead.

mid 20s.

I know how to code. I do digital humanities. It's not the skills I regret losing, it's the opportunities I smugly passed by to follow my ~dreams~

>graphs aren't math
guess how i know you're lying

You don't have any contacts through Stanford you can parley into a tech job? A guy in your program who dated a girl in CS who now works in Menlo Park or something?

Math/Chem double major here.

well, I'm in my mid-20s and studying CS now. the only reason I can think of not to would be if you're in a meme education system where studying involves accumulating a bunch of debt

Nah man you're right. I've still got contacts; I've still got a way in. I'm bitching because I threw away the easy option, the one with institutional backing and a direct path and would now have to make my own way. And I'm bitching because I never thought my "passions" and "dreams" would fade, you feel?

I thought I had found meaning and purpose and self actualization etc, and all that has died. At this point I'm raging wishing I had just chased money because, yeah it wouldn't make me happier (I live fine now) but I could have secured the easy ticket for my kid at least

Does maritime officer count as a STEM field?
I have to learn a shit ton about engineering.

did marine bio, but not gonna go into the field. ive got a joocy digital marketing graduate scheme lined up tho so hopefully it wasn't a complete waste of time

Shouldn't you be guarding the dungeon, Igor?

Hate to be trite, but you can't change the past nearly as easily as you can change the future.

I guess what I want to say, to anyone struggling in college against a dichotomy of "passions" and skills, just fucking pick the skills and pursue the other stuff in your free time.

It's a bullshit binary unless you're passions are directly related to employable skills themselves

"Minor in your passion. Major in something useful."

Exercise Science pre-med major here.

Super dope because when I'm not studying chem or bio to prep for the MCAT, I'm studying things Veeky Forumsness related.

Well taken. That's why I love lifting so much. I've got another two years in the program I'm at now, and everything changes after that.

No one says this at the top colleges because the assumption is that everyone will be ridiculously successful no matter what they choose. And that's not exactly a false assumption, it's just comparing CS cash with any other job is absurd

Unless you're speaking about the set theoretical type of graph, no, graphs are no math you fucking pleb, and even still, unless you're working in Morse theory, still no

>software dev
>~80K/yr right out of schoo
>in major american city
>345 bench
>430 squat
>495 DL
>204 bodyweight
Got it pretty good desu, take advantage of all the free time you have in college to actually work on and finish projects and make yourself more valuable. So many fuck ups and burnouts in software right now, any idiot can get the degree without actually understanding how anything works.

>dem quant skittles

Mirin

I tried to replicate Riemann's rearrangement theorem for fun because a teacher thought I couldn't
He was probably right since I don't know if what I did really proved anything

Is it really difficult to keep up with the pace or would someone who did well at maths in high school manage?

Not in STEM but this is definitely true, I know comp sci/coding majors who get perfectly fine grades but don't have a fucking clue what they're doing

>take test
>forget to put in FBDs
>go from a B to an F

>All these low borns jealous
kek do you think modernism destroyed aristocracy? Better luck next time plebs

In my first year of Engineering

>tfw want to get into astro
>tfw scared of being so bad i get forced into civil

I don't want to be a baby engineer

I study artificial Intelligence ( kinda disappointed) and physics.
But i just started working out a few months ago, but i am a hiker/Climber/Surfer so my body is slightly better than DYEL.

Biotech grad student. Had an internship go well this past summer but there wasn't a position to fill by the end of it. Fingers crossed one opens by time I graduate next spring.
My lifts were fine, till this week. Something went wrong on chest day causing my shoulder to bug me all week. My diet is another problem I'm trying to get over as well

Topkek that red-shirt kid really knows how to imitate a 1rm diddly

Geology here. 2 months since graduation. No job. Doesnt help that I applied to only 7 jobs in october.

Ever since graduation I have just become lazy. I still keep going to the gym and training and doing other stuff, except applying for jobs.

If anyone got advice to change this behaviour, it would be really appreaciate it. I know whats wrong but everyday I still dont fix it.

hahaha i absolutely guarantee this guy is completely DYEL

>jewish
Oh this has to be b8 alright

>blonde blue eyed jew
Let me guess. You fuck on the regular some cute innocent conservative white girl?
