Why is the town called after a German?

The capitol of North Dakota is called Bismarck.
He has no relevance to US history.
It's the USA or Germany in here?

Krauts are flyover material.

Germans settled that area

Immigrants came over from Europe en masse to America because of conflict, poverty, or brutal regimes. The immigrants from each country clustered into their own, often very large settlements. Bismarck was settled by German immigrants, and they chose to name it after a great German.

Don't forget Georgia which is also named after a German.

There is also a town in PA that is named "King of Prussia" for some reason. Nobody is quite sure how it came to be called that, but it could be a reference to an obscure essay written by Benjamin Franklin.

>claiming American ancestry
There's no way there's still that many natives left, so it must just be retarded sharts

It means "United Statesian", not "Native American"

>Bismarck was settled by German immigrants, and they chose to name it after a great German.
What a bunch of lousy goddamn traitors
