What's the DB equivalent of 2pl8?

What's the DB equivalent of 2pl8?

90s or 95s?

What about 1pl8 OHP? I'm thinking 60s.

depends what your weak points are, someone with a weak chest will be able to barbell bench relatively more than they DB bench probably

but an estimate that works surprisingly well for most people is

BB Bench = 2*(DB Bench) + 45

so 2*90 + 45 = 225

the bar weighs 20kg

1 plate is 20kg

so 1 plate + bar + 1 plate = 60kg total

60 kg devided through 2 hands is 30kg a hand

also be aware that dumbells are mostly heavier because you have to use more muscles to balance it instead of a single bar

I bench close to 400 and struggle with my 105 pound dumbbells. The two aren't really that similar, imo

Dumbbell Bench is around 80% of your Barbell Bench, so basicaly at 100kg two 40kgs Dumbbells

It depends on the dumbbells desu. I can DB bench my own 45kg DBs for an easy 3x8 but can barely get 5 reps with the 42kg ones in my gym.

This

You know 2 plate means 2 plates a side, so 100kg/225lbs all up. I'm sure he is capable of the basic maths you just did dividing a bar weight into 2 dumbells.
I beleive his question was what could someone db press if they can bb press 100kg. Because as you know you can't press as much with dumbells as you can on the bar.

Dunno i can get a couple reps on 50kg DB and my max is 120kg BB.

>You know 2 plate means 2 plates a side,

>2 plates a side
>2x2 = 2

American education everyone

damn, im almost there.

I press 35kg DBs for 5x5, by your estimate, it's equivalent to 90kg (200lb)

2 plate means one side has 2 plates. 2 plate is 100kg.
Are you criticising me or the comment I replied to?

I have this same experience. I can use my home dumbbells with much more weight because they're easier to grip and don't rotate as much as the ones in my gym.

>Trying to sound smart but failing miserably

2 plates is gym jargon meaning you put two barbell plates per side, that means 4 plates in total, which is 225 lbs/102 kg including the bar.

Since you didn't catch that you are either new to lifting or a complete dumbass.

Ah so because "gym jargon" cant get into simple math im a complete dumbass?

then call it 4 plates if you mean 4 plates

This is bait or you signed up for your gym membership today

Im not American

Here 2 is still 2 and not 1

As other anons said probably around 40kg dumbbells. But when talking about 2pl8 it's generally meant as a 5RM. Who the hell does 5rm on dumbbells?

4 plates? Surely you mean 4 plates and the bar.
Kids these days

I'm Australian, I say 2 plate is 2 a side.
Tell your spotter put 2 plate on he puts 2 plates on as do you.

>spotter
Y-yeah I'll tell him that...

damn that formula is my exact barbell:dumbbell ratio wtf lol

Truth be told I don't know why it's only counted the one side, I was just trying to think of the most logical reason. Maybe it is a better way of counting progression starting at 1 instead of in 2s.

I struggle with lmao2pl8 bench while 50kg DB feels natural and can do it for 10 reps, while BB bench 5 reps on a good day. explain this Veeky Forums

>Australian

ok let me spell it out to you

if it's 2 plates on each side, you have 2sides, it makes 4 plates total

how can you not into basic math or am I being baited?

If you can bench 90s for 3x8-10, then you can easily bench barbell 2 plate. Easily.

Yeah so what

Lmao

Lurk moar

Nibba I feel like I'm being baited now. I know 2 a side is 4 but it's been known for years in the bodybuilding world as 2plate.
Just accept it and move on.

...

>we have this inside joke where we call the plates half of what they really are lurk moar man we are pro bodybuilders this is how we roll xD

jesus fucking christ, i know 'bodybuilders' have an image of being stupid but you guys take the cake

just call the ammount of plates for the ammount of plates like everyone does

Rare female edition

>doubling down on stupidity

jesus christ

jfc 1 plate implies 2 plates because just one plate on the side is retarded

How are there like 6 people falling for this bait itt

...

Fuckin' emu cunts

>tfw to intelligent to count plates

why can I dumbbell press 140's in each hand but cant flat bench 300 without my shoulder feeling like it wants to remove itself from my torso?

>he counts the bar

Don't forget to count the weight of your arms too senpai!

It's just convention bro relax. No need to get this mad over getting called out for not knowing

I calculate humidity and convert the air resistence to grams on my liftd.

1 plate means 2x10kg on each side

>but an estimate that works surprisingly well for most people is
>BB Bench = 2*(DB Bench) + 45
So, a newb who benches the bar should be able to just barely lift his arms
Similarly, an elite bencher who benches 260 kg should be able to bench 120 kg dumbells

i press 35kg dbs 3x6
i can also bb bench press 80kg 3x6

so ya it's pretty close (considering i do barbell bench press once every 3 months => i'm not technically proficient at it)

NICE bait

I do 46kg 3*5 and I can barely get 3 reps on two plate bench. Is this due to not doing flat bb bench much? Mind you I tuck in my elbows with the dumbbells to minimize the stress on my shoulders.

"an ESTIMATE ... for MOST people"

are you retarded? you just took 2 extremes and tried to act smart

kys

Probably

Form is very important especially with big more complicated lifts like benching (compared to curls or something)

Reminder to not max out on DB bench if you want to snap your pecs up

>Not knowing what 2pl8 means

Back to

You're a new guy.

cant tell if trolling or retarded

Including the what

Anyone want to answer the question about OHP?

all this bait ateing

it's your love of fat women

maybe your grip width is off on the barbell

yeah, I do like that fertile look

>fat=fertile

Being fat causes infertility LMAO

How the fuck did you figure that out, it's pretty damn accurate.

That girl is actually perfectly fertile.
Being legitimately fat and even obese is what causes infertility and hurts a growing child.

Yet more evidence that the weight of the bar doesn't make a difference and shouldn't be counted.

it's not fat, it's THICC

they really aren't similar and I too have pondered this question and wanted to ask /fit. Im guessing if you can bench a pair of 70 pound dumbbells for reps you can do 2 plate.

You can’t say she’s perfectly fertile because fertility is more than being fat or thin. For all you know she’s barren as your crotch region. To assume that “fatter=better fertility” is wrong because you just see the fat and thing wide hips, which still isn’t a sign of fertility, but rather an ease of child birthing.

Fat women, no matter how slight, are less fertile than skinnier women, barring extremes

This thick meme needs to die. 200lbs is 200lbs whether it’s on the ass or the stomach.

Just looked her up. I'm dying

>there are people here who wouldn't eat pizza with her if you know what I mean

>she'd probably eat a slice and offer you one as well, while you pound her from behind

Can't tell the day of nofap I am on right now. Give me strength lord, for I am truly tested at this very moment.

why is she white but her feet are black

she's not fat tho, slight chub girls are top tier

Exactly. Damn, I can literally feel my brain shutting down when I look at those pictures

The fuck are you on about, she's clearly brown.

>never flat benched above 95kg for 1rm
>have done 42x8 incline before

welp guess my bb bench form is shit

I bbench 80kg x5 and dbench 24 x8, does that mean that my triceps are the actual bottleneck or just that my BB form is shite?

lmao have fun being 20kg weaker than everyone

>on 4th week of nofap/noporn and have a deep bra/panty fetish
