Why didn't the British ally with Nazi Germany to defeat the Soviet Union? Why did they find German control of Europe to be more of a threat than Soviet control?

Nazis were far more aggressive and had a far more realistic chance of dominating Europe. It would be like siding with a pit bull to kill a sickly old cat. That's how it seemed at the time anyway.

The Germans were always going on about how they wanted to control the seas of Europe and build a navy to rival the Royal Navy.
They did it in the years leading up to WW1, and they did it again in the years leading up to WW2.

I mean realistically it makes sense they would be Europe's hegemon. It's at the center, is criss-crossed by rivers and rich in ores. It has the largest industrial centers and has the largest population. It makes sense that Germany and probably also France and Poland all dominate the continent.

Fascism was very opposed to the idea of monarchies and aristocracy. It's a fundamentally populist movement. Also why would they want to share power that they seized by themselves?

Nationalists aren't inherently monarchists. In fact, many nationalists opposed monarchs since they were reactionary and opposed change, such as the liberal nationalists in the 1848 revolutions, or they held many ethnicities together in a single state, like Austria-Hungary.

Don't know where you got the idea that it's some universal constant. It depends on the culture of the Nation we're talking about. Japan view their Emperor as a literal God. So they kept their Monarch. Germany, Spain and Italy had newer monarchies that hadn't tied themselves to national identity like the Japanese Emperor. They they left their monarchs in the cold.
