People will end up living in them soon

>tfw not living on comfy hill next to castle
>Country doesn't have castles because it didn't have an extensive period of feudalcuckoldry to warrant feudal warlords setting up castles all over the place.
>They should be embarassed!
That aside: post fortifications.
I used to live in Harlech, I don't think I ever saw more than 10 people in a day haha.
That looks fucking ugly and not comfy.
>implying your country is relevant if it doesn't have castles
Probably my favourite castle for that reason. If I had the money I would buy it and convert it to a house, somewhere to grow old and watch the world burn.
Is that a cathedral on top? Looks comfy af
Doesn't Wales have the highest density of castles in the world
Literally medieval Afghanistan
It's St. Michael's mount in Cornwall. It is a castle i think
Durham is pretty cool
The English fear the mountain warrior

>What kind of embarrassment of a country has no castles?
I don't know, my country was founded after castles had ceased to serve any genuine military or political purpose.
Shame though, I've always wanted to see a proper castle.
>ywn live in a comfy country castle
Why even live
Trips
Castles literally meant that your country had an extensive history of being a balkanized shithole and ergo was irrelevant.
>castles literally mean your country was a technological military powerhouse and now has lots of tourists
Also people live in castles silly
>first century BC
No.
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries
Hey I go to Durham Uni. Unfortunately not the Castle college, but I envy the guys who get to sleep in the keep

Are Austrian castles welcome?
>Castleniggers can't figure out a centralized military.
>"technological military powerhouse."
"Hurr lets alot an entire village to support just a single horseman."
Fair enough. It is a bit of a trek. 5hrs by car and 3hrs by train from London. But I love how pretty it is. Only downside is the Cathedral has some sort of condom on it nowadays
All castles friemnd
>ywn live with your waifu and a doggo in one of these
I loved the interior of the cathedral, especially the cloisters and i got to see the tomb of Bede.
It's also surprisingly warm in the cathedral
>ywn live like bilbo baggins

Are English country cottages very expensive?
Struth, thas big
Strewth*
I love the cathedral as well. the matriculation ceremony was awesome in there. Id climb up to the top of the tower but apparently if you do before you graduate you will fail your course lmao. It is super nice walking past all these buildings every morning
Generally housing in England is expensive. Cottages, though it really depends on the cottage itself, are usually above average price.
Wales has a lot cheaper house prices though.
Your typical US McMansion house would cost millions in England though.
Is it cold in durham right now?
Also, what course?
Any love for ex-industrial towns?
Been to Blaenau Ffestiniog, the people there were really nice.
Fellow Welshman?
Damn. I would make it a life goal to live in a beautiful English country cottage and just read old literature
I'd go to church every sunday with fellow villagers
Now i just sound weird
I guess so, moved there young so never had any problems. Helped speaking the language too.
Nice that people have grown up there, remember we used to throw snowballs at tourists and shit.
A quick search on Rightmove led me to one in Wales that isn't extortionate, but not grandiose either.
onthemarket.com
The best places are in the Cotswolds. Now they are extortionate.
Unfortunately England is one of the worst Western countries to be in if you aren't at least middle class.
Nvm, not Rightmove, but you get the point.
Why are house prices so high?
Was it the 08 recession?
Not much left of the Bulgarian castles after the Treaty of Berlin (1878). Which stated that all fortresses on the territory of Bulgaria should be demolished. Even so there are more than 3700 documented castle sites in the country. Some make for cosy ruins.
Because we need to build more million pound condos in London!
Grew up in Wales. Four castles in various states or repair within a 20 mile radius of me. Pretty lucky desu. Shame there's no work locally though.

The kind of country that has FREEDOM.
Also Masonry Forts are superior.
Where's the one that got converted into an Aktion T4 euthanasia center?
>not building a lawless community on top of a giant fucking swamp next to the Southern Pacific railroad and being surprised when your house keeps getting flooded
Get on my level nigga
>Gotta keep the gene pool clean
>By killing people that don't reproduce anyway
Such genius.
There were several castles like that, but they were post-medieval country palaces (sometimes within a military fortress).

Are there any USA castles besides Boldt Castle?
My town, r8.
Nah, I get you.
You want to be part of a community, a place where you belong, somewhere where everyone knows your name, says good morning and look out for eachother.
>Harlech Castle
That's Conwy Castle in your pic. The big giveaway is the railway passing through the town wall.
Well, Russia did not have castles: just the city walls, which is what you posted. With the exceptions of the monasteries for obvious reasons.
There were some like that, but overtime the nobles simply lived within cities.
its kind of like a castle. just with missiles instead of knights.
