He was a /r9k/ level larper.

il duce more like...
il dunce

From what I've read... he was a fake tough guy. Good at sticking out his jaw, but crumbled when shit got real. However, I'm not well read about Mussolini, so maybe I'm getting it wrong.

He did not have a single respectable military campaign

should have died before the war and let Italo Balbo take over the country. Balbo would have stayed out of the war like Franco, because he wasn't an egotistical moron.

Accurate.

Bablo would have destroyed the fascist party and destroy the monarchy which the fascist party had stated that the monarchy is essential for italy.

mussolini destroyed the fascist party desu. The party literally deposed him during WWII because the war effort was an epic failure

One of my favorite quotes

Attached: quote-race-it-is-a-feeling-not-a-reality-ninety-five-per-cent-at-least-nothing-will-ever-make-me-ben (850x400, 72K)

Incorrect

>Killing Ethiopians isn't respectable
You're retarded desu

Mussolini destroyed the party by getting involved in the war. He cost Italy it's empire and many of its sons.

Sophia Loren is his niece. He's chad as FUCK

He was a complete imbecile when it came to military matters.
>invasion of greece
>declaration of war against france and uk
>forced Graziano on the offensive despite army not ready
>made decisions on a whim

Something happened in the build up to WW2. He was quite the analyst prior to this, but in ww2 all of his decisions were emotional and not one grounded in reality.

Literal fake tough guy protoguido pansy ass nerd.

If Mussolini had simply bided his time for a while and declared Italy neutral in 1939, while continuing to trade with both the Germans and the Allies, Italy have ended up keeping its colonial empire to this day and Mussolini himself, would be remembered as the greatest Italian ever.

Attached: Colonie_italiane.jpg (1556x2008, 401K)

Even if he did succeed, da Vinci is still the GOAT Italian and nothing could change that.
Despite how much your nerd ass wants facism to prevail.

How so?

>Even if he did succeed, da Vinci is still the GOAT Italian and nothing could change that.

Sure, I'll agree with that. 2nd best then.

>Despite how much your nerd ass wants facism to prevail.

Mussolini's "fascism" was more socialist then Europe's today, he only gets bad press because he stupidly sided with the Germans instead of waiting it out and jumping in at the end, giving Italy a seat on the UN Security Council and making it a major global player, with all that wealth from Libyan oil.

Attached: Libya_oil_locations.jpg (640x613, 187K)

>he only gets bad press because he stupidly sided with the Germans instead of waiting it out and jumping in at the end, giving Italy a seat on the UN Security Council and making it a major global player, with all that wealth from Libyan oil.
Not true. Franco's regime sided with nobody and still gets a bad press. Being a paranoid totalitarian will do that to you. Also, Italy annexed Albania and Ethiopia on it's own, with no pressure from Germany. Furthermore it treated it's subjects in conquered lands pretty harshly - there were racial laws similar to those in Germany although nowhere near as harsh.

He does not ONLY get a bad press because he sided with Germany, he ALSO gets bad press because he was an expansionist fascist with embarrasingly bad excuses for casus belli.

> Franco's regime sided with nobody and still gets a bad press.

Spain was a basket case due to the civl war and effectively of no value to anybody. Mussolini on the other hand, could have played the same neutrality game as Franco but Italy was of actual value to whichever side finally managed to bring them on board (and that would have been the Allies in 1942-43).

Meanwhile, Mussolini could have played both sides against each other in exchange for tech to improve Italian forces, all the while keeping Italian citizens safe from way (until victory was assured) and holding on to Italian colonies during and after.

> he ALSO gets bad press because he was an expansionist fascist with embarrasingly bad excuses for casus belli.

And had he not side with the Nazis, Italy’s path in WWII and later position would have been vastly improved and nobody would have gave a shit about gassing some wogs in wherever-the-fuck Africa.

Nah, the guy enjoyed sword fighting.

>keeping Italian citizens safe from way

"safe from war"

None of what you wrote washes away the fact that he still would have committed several acts of aggressive militarism that would not have painted him in a positive light, wether he allied germany or not. Like Franco.

>spain of no military value
The British bribed the spaniards not to enter the war. Spanish neutrality was important for the british

>committed several acts of aggressive militarism that would not have painted him in a positive light,

Churchill starved a bazillion Hindoos to death and nobody gives a shit. He won the war.

>The British bribed the spaniards not to enter the war. Spanish neutrality was important for the british

Spain was completely fucked from the civil war and couldn't contribute shit beyond the Blue Division, who the Germans had to equip.

It was was unscathed and smack dab in the middle of Europe, neither side would have risked attacking Italy and both sides would have kissed Mussolini's ass for any help he could provide.

>It was was unscathed

"Italy was unscathed"

(fucking spell checker...)

It's always strange to me to see historical figures outside of formal photos and things like that. His mannerisms seem like something my one of my friends would do, which is strange because we don't often think of them as people just like you and me, which of course they are. We almost see them not as people but as forces, moving and shaping countries to their will, but in the end they're just like you and me, and do some weird flexing shit when folding their arms

Ten thousand Italians died taking a pointless country that England would simply grab by touching a few years later

and they made take some cocainaaa.... and yes, they are like you or me, with the cardinal difference that they are in powerfull possitions.

Most of these pics were staged retard. Jist like the one of him with the movie camera or working in the fields

But he did genuinely like sword fighting retard. At least do some cursory reading before you post.

When you don't know somebody then you only really think of them and their actions. I'm just text on a screen that you read. not a real person. Now if I was to meet you then you would see me as a real human. It would be the same with historical figures. There just people and there actions and most of the time you learn about what they did not about them.

He didn't buy into the race science popular at the time as much as most leaders, and especially most Northern Italians. The way he saw it, everyone was more or less a mutt, and talking about racial purity made no sense especially if you were from a country like Italy, where you could find a guy who could pass for Yemeni and a guy who could pass for Danish from the same family. So he encouraged mixing with Arabs in Libya to Italianize the place (the ones that didn't resist, anyway), downplayed anti-southern sentiment in Italy, and had several prominent ethnic minorities like Jews, Friuilians, Sicilians, Germans, and Occitans among his supporters.

Except Slavs. He hated Slavs. Even Slovenes, right across the border. Especially Slovenes.

Il Duce and the Eternal Anglo.

Best friends forever.

What a madman.

>he was a fake tough guy
Hard to believe from the son of blacksmith.

>Something happened in the build up to WW2. He was quite the analyst prior to this, but in ww2 all of his decisions were emotional and not one grounded in reality.
The death of his younger brother Arnoldo in 1931 pretty much derailed him. They were extremely close both personally and in government. I think it was R J Bosworth who wrote in Mussolini's Italy that the stress from the loss caused Benito's hair to turn white and fall out. I think this is accurate because if you look at Benito's photos from the March on Rome in 1922 he still has some hair and it looks dark. By WWII he was a shadow of his former self and the regime reflected this.

>u librul!
jesus christ. Get an education.

Reminder that Italy was a whore in WW1. She was bought by British and French promises of Dalmatia and Istria (Croatia and Slovenian coast). One of the reasons why the Isonzo front was brutal is because the units were Slovenes, Croats, and Austrians as such and they knew what Italy wanted. Southern Slavs despise the fuck out of Italy due to its constant autism towards their coast. Also, Bojna was a competent leader unlike Cadorna.

Reminder that Italy was a whore in WW2 as well, and that they "invaded" France (and basically lost) only after Hitler crushed them. The only reason Italy won against France was due to France capitulating to the Reich.

Italy is like an angry little dwarf that gets drunk at parties and thinks he matters. It has no place in war or any such things, it's only good for a laugh. Amusingly fascism is great, but it was utterly wasted on incompetent people. There's a lesson in there as well - race matters. A nation of mongrels is always worthless. Even the Albanians and Ethiopians shat on them. For fucks sake.

for anyone interest. I've collected works books on fascist italy

You're a saint, lad. Been looking for something like this.

>Edvige wrote in her diary: “While I was praying in front of the Crucifix, a person appeared to me suddenly all in flames, a heard a voice say,

‘>I am Benito Mussolini. The Lord has allowed me to come to you in order to get some relief from my sufferings in purgatory. I beg you as an act of charity to offer for me all your prayers, sufferings and humiliations for two years, if your director allows it. God’s mercy is infinite but so is His justice. One cannot enter Heaven until one has paid the last penny of the debt owed to Divine Justice. Purgatory is terrible for me because I waited until the last moment to repent.’

>On spring day in 1951, Jesus told me after Holy Communion: ‘This morning the soul of Benito Mussolini has entered into Heaven.’”

nothing wrong with being a whore, but should have chosen somebody other than cadorna

I wasn't talking about him brainiac. Italy came out of the war on the winning side and gained some territories. Calling it a whore for this is something some but blasted looser would do.
Of course their military leadership was abysmal, but that's not the reason you called Italy a whore is it?

was it autism?

That's not "outside of formal photos", though.
During his speeches, he always made grand gestures and exaggerated them greatly, to impress people and catch their attention.
As an historian said: "The italians supported Mussolini, not fascism."

>fascism
>trying to revive traditionalism

Literally know nothing about fascism.

According to venerable Edvige Carboni (Catholic) Mussolini went to purgatory and then Heaven.

I read somewhere that the italians allowed some greek jews to remain in the italian zone of occupied Greece to escape the nazis, as a way to show that Italy was kind of autonomus and not completely dependent on Germany
