You just described a close grip pull-up, love. Neutral grip is when you use the little handles that stick out perpendicular from the pull-up bar.

underhand is likely to lead to elbow strain/injuries, most likely "golfer's elbow"

neutral is the healthiest for your joints, overhand has the most application for rock climbing and whatever, underhand is for weaklings or people who try to make everything about their biceps

You might be right, I've been doing them for 9 years now so it takes a ridiculous amount of setsxreps or weight to make it a challenge. When I was younger I just did them every single day, no real planning or caring about gaining muscle just constantly hitting it. Worked for me.

do bw rows, 3 sets of 10, if you manage to do them add weight by putting a plate on your chest and having your feet elevated. if you can do 3x10 with 10kg (22LBS) on your chest you can probably do three sets of 5 pull ups. rows have a good carryover to pullups imo

Pretty much any decent rock climber can do this and none of them do gear. Sooner you stop believing this the better

I would do easily 30 mins of pull-ups while waiting for my gyms singular squat rack to open up. By senior year of high school i was capable of doing 40 rep sets. Greatness is not achieved through limiting yourself.

To do more pull-ups, do more pull-ups. Or, if that's too difficult, do assisted pull-ups:
a) jump up to the bar and try your hardest to keep yourself at the top, or
b) rest your feet on a chair as you pull up; try to minimize how much you're lifting yourself up with your feet

Overhand is a pullup, works primarily back, underhand is a chinup and primarily works bicep but also back. What area are you trying to target?

Pullup negatives. Or probably the best option, get a resistance band and do pullups with it till you can do 10 then remove the band.

The pullup is should be one of your essential lat moves. Regardless. Forget all the row stuff, get a resistance band, use it under your feet till you hit 10 reps, then just under your knee till 10 reps then remove until you hit 10 reps raw. Then use a dip belt to start adding weight.

If you're doing proper chinups/pullups, your chin shoudl completely clear the bar, not the shitt ones where you have to crane your neck back to get it in line. So keep it on your back and do proper chinups.

You have your feet under you. Sure you lose some strength because you can't squeeze the bar with your hands properly but if the bar is out of reach from standing it gives a much better setup.

Friend is on the national team and his method to get really good at that shit was to have a pullup bar on his doorway and everytime he walked through his door he did a set to failure.

Try banging out a set of pullups with 20kg swinging beneath your balls.
