A lot of us won't touch those cakes. You can smell the sugar from one of those cakes a mile away and a slice causes an sugar rush. They're the go to for every mother and office lady who insists an occasion requires a cake but is unwilling to make even the minimal amount of effort it takes to use a slightly healthier (not by much though) mix.

I actually feel a certain amount of pity. She clearly hates herself, is hiding behind an ever cracking shield of denial, and vents the anger when something chips away at it.

My mom is badly disabled, and uses a buggy to get around, and I've seen some of this in that context. It hurts her deeply that she isn't healthy or pretty anymore, and that people tend to look to her carer or overlook her entirely, and so if there is any lack of disability access or inconvenience, rather than break down crying or let herself be hurt, she goes straight to anger.

There is a nice discount brand wear store in my parents hometown. I go there sometimes to look around for some cheap quality clothes for work.

On several occasions I have tried on dresses with busted zippers. As on, irreparably split open. When you indicate this to the store clerks, they usually sigh or roll their eyes. On a daily basis, they have fat girls coming on trying on clothes that are too small for them, and they quite literally burst out of them.
