I'm going to do Front Squats + 1 leg Leg Press + Step ups tomorrow, wish me luck.

i would love to squat everyday. i will probably do so once i move out and invest in a home gym. how do you structure this though?

Used to squat everyday for about 2 months straight. Got me from 225 single to 315 for 5 in a short amount of time. Only problem was I strictly did low bar and neglected hamstrings so it was a bad outcome for my knees. Remember accessories.

but low bar is better for your posterior chain development than high bar

If you can squat 285x5 you can probably get 315. I did 3x5x295 the other day and hit 315 for a single after with no prob

>Started squatting every day

I see no reason to do so.

I'm doing a slightly modified SS routine where I'll high bar squat (at 325lb for 3x5) first and third day, but then I'll front squat (at 235lb for 5x5) on the middle day.

I only see everyone in this thread doing one form of squat, which is making me think I'm doing something wrong...

Looks pretty cool. Wednesday front squats are a good way to recover/give your posterior chain a break. Quasi-Texas Method

Fix form issues then get to 4plate

it really isn't, the mechanics of any squat have the hamstring shortening at one joint (during hip extension) while simultaneously lengthening at the other joint (due to knee extension) - lowbar and highbar are both poor hamstring exercises

demands on the glutes are similar in both

lowbar is just more mechanically efficient that's it, no huge difference in muscle recruitment

a true brainlet I see

High Bar > Low Bar

can anyone convince me otherwise?

How do you get rid of butt wink on the high bar squats? Sometimes my lower back hurts.

why do so many people here do atg? how is it better than just going below parallel?

I do squats 2 days on and 1 day off. I tried doing them every day for about a month (ended a couple weeks ago) but I think it's good to get a bit of recovery time and it's hard on my CNS to do squats on the same day that I also do both bench press & deadlifts.

Brehs, I don't know for how long the rippman will be able to carry me. I think I am losing my noob gains.

why are you doing front paused if you're following the ripper?

Because I wan't to get into oly lifting after I get my squat high enough. I think front squats are far more important. And paused just comes natural. I didn't realise I was doing paused squats until I saw it on the internet. I hope I am not messing too much with the rippoid's teachings.

I actually think the squat is pretty retarded and that big quads look realy bad.. I put my effort into the deadlift

- 65kg 3x5 today, still progressing well
- Highbar/Oly
- every other day
- Adidas power perfect II
- 5
- 70kg, 100kg, 140kg, 180kg, 210kg, I want to get to a lean 70kg bw currently at 66.5

op's pic is an olympic weightlifter bro, can you see what kind of squat he does? start doing back squat you already spent enough time doing front and im pretty sure your form is iffy as well especially if you're not lifting with weightlifting shoes.
also, you always want to front squat atg, since it mimics the bottom of the hole of both olympic events.
good luck and do your power cleans if youre doing ss. (i would even recommend hang power cleans if you want to get into oly later since it helps you learn to dip under the bar quicker than the full power clean)

Whats the point in oly lifting?
Always thought thr movements were pretty random and dumb

>140 1RM backsquat, 120 1RM frontsquat

>European Weightlifting Championships

You're retarded, just so you know.

You're implying back squat is the most important strength builder in weightlifting. This is wrong. Front squat is more important and trained at a higher frequency because it has the greatest carryover to snatch and clean. Because of the need for the torso to be more upright in catching the bar, a greater degree of knee flexion occurs than a regular back squat. This requires greater knee extension in order to stand up and the quads are the primary extender of the knee. The quads are most efficiently trained with the front squat, not the back squat. Back squat is an accessory lift in weightlifting training. I have personal experience from this as I train weightlifting five times a week and backsquat maybe once or twice a week but front squat four times a week. My coach was a member of the Bulgarian national team and lifted at the european weightlifting championships. So not just some broscientist on YouTube.

You're also wrong with the statement that "you need to squat ATG since it mimics the bottom of the hole". This is true if your body is made like this. Not everyone has the hip mobility to sit down that deep. Not eveyone need to sit that deep. The taller you are, the stronger your pull is, and you're more likely to be able to catch the bar higher. Several lifters catch the snatch and clean barely below parallel. This varies between every lifter due to difference in hip structure and limb length. For example: Lu Xiajun, world champion and olympic champion in the 77kg weightclass has a very deep snatch and squat clean, he's an asian manlet, while someone like Lasha Talakhadze, world champion and olympic champion in the +105kg class (and who's also almost two meters tall european) catches his lifts in a much higher position.

for the back squat? heavier weight so more overall strength, having the bar on your back helps with your pulls since you're getting in the habit of maintaining your back angle more so than the front squat, for some lifters that have certain shoulder mobility restrictions the trunk musculature works the same way in the snatch as it does in the back squat when the bar is overhead. there's plenty more reasons but i guess the fact that the back squat has been part of pretty much every weightlifting program i think is reason enough.

by all means give better advice if you can

You're retarded. They're more or less equally important for oly lifters. Back squat increases your front squat.

I guarantee if you could get away with back squatting heavy as frequently as front squatting your coaches would have you do both with the same frequency. Going "hurr front squat more important cuz its done more times" is like saying "cable tricep extensions > bench because you can do them almost every day of the week".

no, i was not trying to imply that the back squat is more important in weightlifting and it absolutely is true that anthropomorphy plays an important role in exercise choice. what i was trying to say is that its better for a guy that is not training the olympic lifts at all at the moment to focus on the back squat as well as the front squat which is what i meant by "you already spent time doing fronts".
also by the looks of it he's doing ss, i would not be comfortable making changes in an already established strength program especially since he is training 3 times a week and not 5 probably. i understand that you have some credibility on the matter, as i have, but i think encouraging a guy to only front squat in such early stages is not a great idea.

Do you even make an effort to stimulate myofibrillar hypertrophy by inducing skeletal muscle microtrauma?
ya pal... I bet you've never lifted a day in your life if you made a statement like this. Anyone can emphasize with this situation that is a regular lifter whenever we're trying to limit our 1.5 hours in the gym, and are instead bossed around by some out of shape older lady that will never look good because she will never have a winner mind-set and will always carry that "babby fat" she claims she has. I've seen your kind around the gym a time or two... You get on the treadmill at 2.5 mph for 20-30 min, pretend like you're working out, but are really just staring at the 14 yr old high school girls in front of you, in which case you'll fap when you get home to your miserable life with your out of shape hog of a wife who will reject your advances on her later in the evening. Yea... I've seen your type a thousand times. Ambition is your goal, but phaggy time is your soul. Try walking a mile in my footsteps when you squat until you puke, and then come at me bro... All talk and never anyway to back it up, my 72 year old grandmother is like that. Do us all a favor and grow up and learn your place at the gym.

I just work up to a single, and usually do doubles or triples at 90% of that weight.

The single is usually a weight that’s challenging but I know I can hit on my worst day. If I’m feeling great, I’ll bump it up 10-20lbs.

I keep an eye on how I’m trending to make sure I am actually putting on weight instead of auto-regulating and not moving anywhere.

You'd be surprised, he's probably lighter than you at 96kg training weight, he's just quite short. There's plenty of more cut olympic weightlifters too who squat huge weights (vid is of Tian Tao squatting 300kg x 2 @ 87kg), the most fun to watch as of recently are the heavyweights though due to the ban on manlet countries.

You are comparing a 77kg lifter to someone who's twice his weight lifting 30% more. Further, while the Front Squat is absolutely necessary in olympic lifting for obvious reasons, the back squat is absolutely essential for filling up the volume for which the front squat cannot. The front squat is very taxing and difficult to do along with the main lifts, so the back squat is there to help keep the volume up without killing your lifters.
