So I've been on keto for the past couple months, and I'd like to give some personal experiences. Anyone else who is/was in ketosis feel free to chime in, or people who want questions answered.

I wait tables in a large restaurant (fine dining, expensive wine, steaks, etc, no applebees shit) and I'm constantly running around and running up and down stairs. Before keto I would be a cranky mess at the end of the shift from low blood sugar, since I was too busy to eat anything, and if I could eat something it typically wasn't very good for my system. And not only was I cranky, but I'd make more mistakes towards the end of the evening since my mind wasn't at 100% either. But after entering ketosis (took about four days to get into full keto, and keto flu is very real) I found that a few things changed.

1. I had SO much more energy throughout the evening. I'd eat some fatty sausage/bacon/beef before the shift started and I had a ton of momentum through the rest of the evening, it was great. Even at the very end of the night when we're cleaning up, I'm still 100% and not slowing down.
2. Since my body is responsible for blood sugar rather than my intake, there is 100% mental ability all night long. No more mental exhaustion, and the rate that I made mistakes per evening has gone down substantially.
3. My mood is way better. I'm in a leadership (whatever) position there, so I have to be political, and sometimes I was a huge asshole because I was hungry. No more of that though, I feel great, I treat other people well, everything is cool.

So for anyone who is thinking about doing keto, give it a try for a couple months. It's tasty, it's rewarding, and best of all, it'll help you work on those little mental/emotional things that the gym just can't do.

same here!

Doing keto every winter, just need 2 weeks from 18% body fat to 13%, fits for me.
Didnt read anyway. :3

I’ve been full Keto for a few months. My mood and energy level is the best it’s ever been. I don’t need naps anymore and I just generally feel better.
I suspect my testosterone levels have increased (there are studies that say this happens with Keto diets), and although I haven’t seen a lot of strength gains be lost a ton of body fat. I wish I’d tracked it properly, but I know my waist has dropped about 2”, and I can see my abs. I haven’t done a lot of gym work either. Just some long walks a few times a week and push-ups/pull-ups at home.
No major downsides, other than lack of variety for food. But there’s a ton of Keto recepies online.
The first week or so sucks. Feels like you have the flu. After that it’s pretty easy and the cravings/headaches go away.

I love keto, i just end up losing weight on keto which i cant afford being 6'1 and 146 lbs...

i felt less tired on keto but i did sleep a little worse as a result. Rather, it took me longer to get to sleep but this couldve just been me adapting. The biggest thing i noticed about keto was how nice and regular my shits were. I had expected shitting to be worse but id shit daily (which i normally dont) and its slip right out like soft butter.
Ill probably go back to it when i go home after christmas because i did feel better overall. The best thing was how consistent my energy level was. I stopped atm because i didnt want to be an awkward autistic arsehole with my family over christmas.

imagine how fun an afternoon cookout at alex jones' house would be

I felt great on keto, and lost weight super fast, which was the goal. I was on 1850cal/day, 70% fat. Exercise routine was basically intermediate SS, plus a 3-sets-each circuit of 3 accessories of my choice at the end of each workout. Lost 33lb over 8 weeks, with one week in the middle eating whatever I wanted but still staying at the calorie goal. Fell off the wagon because grandpa died and now I'm the only man in the family, so now I keep doing SS heavy, avoid total shit food, and make sure I eat a lot of protein. New Years resolution (lmao) is to unfuck my eating situation to make sure it doesn't get out of hand, and to reach 4pl8 diddly by end of February.

My only real bitch about my keto experience was weakness. My OHP was 160x5, and on keto, I struggled desperately to even hit 140x3. Bench suffered so much that I got pissed and dropped it entirely, focusing on weighted dips instead (up to 70lb added now though, so I'm happy). Deadlift and squat stayed about the same, but recovery from Squats was horrible, and every set felt like torture. I can't really tell how much of all that was due to keto though, the large calorie deficit likely played a big part.

I might try keto again after hitting 4pl8 diddly, but this time, I'll probably hold my protein ration closer to 35% or so (closer to 1g/lb body weight) to see how it affects lifting.

I recommend keto to people who want to lose fat fast who can deal with their lifts sucking ass for the duration of the diet. Idk about it as a long-term thing, but if run for a few months, it has great results.

I’ve been eating less than 20g of carbs p/day (with a lot of fats) for the last 3 days - is this enough to enter a Ketosis state?

And how can I tell when I’m in that state? I don’t have any those keto sticks.

Hey guys, I've been on Keto for 2 days now. Is Ground beef good? And is having bacon and eggs everyday for breakfast the best? Cause that's what I've been doing so far.

Second question: is a sore throat a sign of a Keto flu? I woke up with one

Ground beef is great. Same with bacon and eggs. Just don't over to do it with the bacon. The technically contain 1 or 0.1 carbs.

Did you get headaches when you started?

I never got keto flu when I did it. I never really felt like shit at all desu. I had read about keto flu mainly being a side effect of a lack of vitamin/mineral intake, so right out of the gate I incorporated mushrooms and a spinach/kale blend in as many recipes as I could. So like, for breakfast instead of just bacon and eggs, I would do a few strips of bacon with a spinach, mushroom, and cheese omelet. It would always fit around a 70/30 fat/protein split, and it was packed with a shitload of micronutrients (and was tasty).

Also protip for the cheese, don't buy bagged shredded cheese because the non-binding agent is what keeps it from blocking together. Buy cheese by the block and shred it fresh.

Additionally, if you don't own a food scale, buy one. It is MUCH easier and more accurate (and generally requires less dirty dishes) to measure your food by mass instead of volume.

And finally, ONE WEIRD TRICK I used to make keto easier was bulletproof coffee. 12oz coffee, 30g heavy whipping cream, and 30g coconut oil. 2 servings. It frontloads the FUCK out of your fat macro for the day, which makes your meals much more flexible & enjoyable IMO. And if you're using keto for weight loss, this coffee is very filling and makes it easy to wait until late in the day to eat.

Goddammit I was unclear on the cheese thing; the non-binding agent that prevents blocking contains carbs. Shredding your own cheese is almost zero carb.

Thanks for the advice dude

Jesus Christ

I felt amazing on about t but I sort of suspect I may of just been doing very low carbs because of ye milk i have in my cups of tea.

Felt more filling and satisfied eating meat and eggs with no bloat
Also main thing I loved was the fact my stomach had no bloat because I wasn't eating potatoes and bread

And when I eat any major carb source I'm normally tired for hours.

Fucked it up Christmas Day though and since then I've went back to normal eating and now I feel like I look like shit mainly because of how bloated I get

Going back to it o. The 2nd Jan but this time in mainly going to eat chicken breadt eggs and fish and nuts
Last time I done it I mai lot ate geese and steak and in the long term that's going to fuck You up

I've been doing it for over 6 months now. Lost a bunch of weight and feel better all day. Food is a bit more expensive but that's okay. Hardest part is finding new things to cook for dinner and prepare for lunches every day.

>And when I eat any major carb source I'm normally tired for hours.

This.

yeah they say to aim for less than 25g of carbs every day for a month. and you can buy the strips from cvs in the diabetics aisle, they're like $7, but i know when i'm in keto just by how i feel. no hunger pangs at all, except when my sodium gets low.

cheese also contains milk, which is loaded with estrogen (comes from cows, which are female). some people don't care, some do.

Cool, thanks dude

Hey OP or anyone else on keto. Have you gotten less colds and flues since you started doing keto?

A major gainz goblin for me is that I'm a Scandinavian living in Malta and get sick a lot.

that looks so nummy

I stopped bread and instead ate a prepped warm meal consisting of chicken, rise potato, spinach, lentis, peas and carrots.

I can't believe the difference compared to eating bread.

With bread I would get hungry so much more quickly and intensely, I suspect it to be mostly related to fat content and that preventing spiking of gluc levels compared to bread.

Any take on this?
