Most of the NYR gym crowd will fail like always But a few will stick to it and become Veeky Forums
Instead of shitting on them, Post the routine + diet plan that worked for you when you first started.
If you're a noob with a new years resolution Post your reason/motivation for starting and your goal body.
I'll go first
I started as a last year during mid Jan. Motive - was sick of feeling out of shape. Actually liked the feeling of being sore post gym. Wanted to improve myself before I became 29 Goal body - I wanted abs like 8%
Routine - SS Diet - I cut out simple carbs, stopped eating white bread and rice. Cut out soda completely. Ate more eggs, chicken, and greens.
I wasn't going to go to the gym tonight because my head is pounding but I'm going now

m/20/midwest >always a fat faggot in high school >terrible relationship that caused so much stress and anxiety I went from 270lbs to 185. People from hs and earlier parts of my life barely recognize me. I have a chance to not be a fat faggot. This year I will try. I need to get my life on track. >Goal Chest like 18%, leaner legs, and stronger arms.
>Routine Don't know. I think I am going to start with running to get my heart in shape, and finish each day with lifting freeweights.
>Diet No more soda, more veggies, less alcohol, more sleep
R8 me and tell me I can do it

I always athetic in high school but fell out of it hard after college. 220, 5'10.
Routine: coolcicada push pull leg
Diet: high protein, eating much cleaner, portions instead of food an masse till full.
First half year was strength, third quarter was getting leaner by starting couch to 5k cardio regime. Really works. Last quarter, now that it's winter, more strength. Lost about 40lbs and I look solid.

Anyone got meal plan for skellys been hitting the gym for about month on 5x5 SL but I've only got slightly bigger. I'd figure I'd be bigger if had a better diet but I suck at cooking and can't grocery shop for shit. Anyone want to chime in a decent plan for a 6'2" 150lb skelly.
Mason Hughes
My motivation I want to look better, I like being admired, I like attention. In clothes I get some looks, but at the beach I never get looked at I want to look better I want to be admired. I want to be able to lift my gf with no problem, make her feel like she's fine at her weight not make her feel bad because she thinks she's fat when she's not. I want to able to protect and scare people who mess with my friends. I want to able to lift heavy things I want people to know I'm strong. I believe you can't really be smart if you're not smart enough to realize that being fit is part of it.
My goals are simple, I want to have the strength to lift 200lbs by june, I want have abs and hit 15% bodyfat. That's it that's all I want.

eh im kinda in the same situation as you here.Started working on compound lifts and shit, and drank a lot of milk and ate a lot of peanut butter. I loaded up on a lot of rice/chicken/fish/broccoli and with that type of diet I managed to gain around 15 lbs from my initial weight. Its not an impressive weight increase but I hope to keep going and that this advice helps you user

that sucks. what the hell were your parents doing? here's a recipe in my family. we call it bowtie pasta
ingredients: >1 box barilla bowtie pasta I forget its actual name >1 red onion chopped, not diced >an amount of green olives I eyeball it. go by taste/budget >a slightly lesser amount of purple olives >slice the olives to spread out the taste. this makes it more likely to get an olive or two in each bite >2 cans of tuna, preferably solid white in water
directions: >first, boil water >always boil water first so that everything is more likely to come together at once >pour about 3 tablespoons of olive oil into sauce pan. you should have enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan in a nice film. bring to medium heat >peel and slice onion >put onion into saucepan with olive oil. it should sizzle. this is sauteing. you are now fancy >while onion is sauteing, slice olives. add to onions I like to add a spoonful of the water the olives are in for taste >open tuna. drain water and add to saute mixture >whenever the water starts boiling, add the pasta I cook for 9-10 minutes for a nice al-dente texture >drain pasta. add everything together
voila, you've cooked something

Honestly, I would go as far as to say SS or 5x5 but bench 3x a week instead of whatever it typically says, maybe even squat twice, depending on how you feel.
And do incline, it's superior

ahh full day workout cool
diet looks good depending on what lunch and dinner are.

one strategy for non chads, formerly 27yr kissless virgin literally start talking to girls coworkers, friend of friends, etc you don't even need to talk to ones you want to date.
go get coffee or food with them with no motive other than to chat and tease them. depending on the situation even can invite their friends.
Usually someone in the group will eventually like you since you seem outgoing and friendly. (tried it with several groups of co-worker and friends)
gotten a few girls asking to go back to my place this way... had to tell them i'm looking for the one.
works even when not fit. just less frequent
(oh also some gay guys might ask you too...)

Honestly I'll probably fail this year like I did last year. I can't overcome my addictive personality.

Been at this for over a year now. Just need to drop like 15 to 20 pounds of fat and i should be solid with how i'll look then i'll no longer be a fat fuck. From there i'll maintain and begin to figure out what i want to do. Everyone can make it.

>Unironically started to get fit during the Christmas week I don't get the thing about people working out on new years, whats wrong with it?
Leo Ross
Either but make sure you add upper body accessories so you don't into trex mode
Joseph Jenkins
Given that 5x5 is retard proof I think it's the better newbie routine. Get the free app, start at bar or so, add a little every time. Ez mode. Impossible to fuck up, and gets the newer lifter into the routine without fucking them up too fast.

My friend is fat, not to the point of being some giant balloon. More chubby. He has some pretty decent muscle mass though, though again, it just makes him look fatter than he really is. Anyway, he really wanted to lose that weight as fast as possible, and one of our other friends suggested a water diet, and I wasn't so sure this was a good idea, but I honestly know nothing about it to say anything good or bad about it. One of my other friends told me that a water diet doesn't end in losing too much fat, but I know another guy, who lost like 60 pounds from doing a water diet and kept it off.
What is Veeky Forumss idea on it?
Jacob Russell
22, been skeletor for a while, slowly getting skinnyfat over the last couple years (6' 130lb to now 180lb, negligible muscle mass). I can see my tits through a t-shirt now and this is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Going to do 5x5 starting strength and biking on the offdays.
Diet is already above average for Americans, mostly stirfry, curry, or chicken, plus raw veg in the summer. Going to swap my white rice for brown and pasta and bread for whole grain. Drinking less liquor and soda, less fast food too.
Planning on going to my uni's gym at 6am each day (when it opens) to avoid people. Also have a couple weeks before class begins to get acclimated so hopefully I don't behave like a retard if/when it gets crowded.
R8, H8, and advise plz

Oats, PB sandwiches, bananas and milk for breakfast and lunch. Sucks to eat the same stuff everyday, but tons of calories and requires no skills. I sometimes add fruit to make oats more bearable.
As for cooking, the basics are pretty easy. As long as you don't burn it or leave it completely raw there's a lot of leeway. Do you have a kitchen?
What I usually make: (I live in a house with multiple people)
Pasta: Ingredients per person/portion: 100g pasta, I usually take macaroni because easy to eat 100g minced meat (maybe more if on a bulk) 100-200g assorted vegetables (depending on your budget). it doesn't matter which ones. I usually take what's on sale, carrots, onion, leek, zucchini, string beans. It depends on what's cheap in your area as well. I've used chinese stir fry veggies because they were on sale and it turned out fine. ~150 ml diced tomato (from can) Italian spices mix (you can buy these in a single can) shredded cheese
Instructions: Boil water, once it boiles (continue working on the sauce in the meantime), add some olive oil (to prevent sticking) and the pasta, turn it around so it doesn't stick Boil pasta for 7-10 mins, just take a spoon and taste it. If it's good, it's done. Rinse the water. Chop up all veggies Take a pan like pic (doesn't have to be a wok, but it needs to be big for a lot of food) Medium heat, add some olive oil, or butter Throw in chopped onions and minced meat Cook untill meat is brown, don't forget to turn it around every now and then Add vegetables to the meat, cook them for a few mins Add tomato and heat it up Add italian spice to taste, I just eyeball it. If it's not enough it'll taste kinda bland, too much kinda salty, but it's fine either way. You'll learn in time Add the pasta and some shredded cheese to the sauce, toss it around. Put it in boxes for other days or lunch.
Benjamin Jackson
Oh and while heating the sauce up, taste the vegetables to see if they're done. Some people like more crispy, others more cooked. Just let it simmer for a few mins if it's not done.
Chili: 1 big pan like pic, but you can use a wok or any big pan (stainless pans for cooking rice/pasta burn easily, but you can cook the meat seperately and it'll be fine) Few potatoes (I like sweet more, but they're more expensive for me) 300-500g minced meat 1 can sweet corn 3 can beans, black, brown, kidney, chickpeas, lentils, it doesn't matter 1-2 can diced tomato 1-2 onion Chili spices mix
Drain the corn and bean cans (sometimes beans come with chili sauce inside, you can use this) Again dice onion and cook it together with the meat. Meanwhile skin (or don't if you don't care) the potatoes and dice them Once the meat is brown, add beans/corn/tomatoes. Make sure the potatoes are covered by the tomato, or add some water. If it ends up too watery, use more tomatoes next time. Add chili mix Let it boil softly for 15~20 minutes, taste the potatoes to see if they're ready.
This is really easy, and super cheap if you buy the beans dried.

I feel this is the correct version of bf, at least for men
