It's the price of metal these days
It's only cheap if you buy rusty second hand plates in your local area.
Buy second hand.
How's that expensive? A couple hundred bucks and you're set for years of lifting which is way cheaper than paying a gym membership over years
I don't have the space inside for a homegym otherwise I'd buy my own plates and bar and just lift at home and not have to walk 30 mins to the gym
Get rusty old plates and coat them with a new paint of your choice
>Scrap iron prices £0.08 per kg
They will last until you die, so it's a one time purchase. Also if you're starting you don't need to be buying 100+ kilos of plates.
Yeah you go and buy a bunch of scrap iron and smelt your own plates.
Cheap ass Chinese metal is 1.30 per kg. You've then got transport and labour costs on top of that. So just for the raw material it's $30 for a 20kg plate.
>t. weakling
>Not forging your own weightset.
I can get 150k of weights for like $80 here in Mexico, which is almost free from all the money I've mugged from american tourist after inyecting RAW heroin in their eyeballs.
This man, if I had room for a proper home gym then it's the clear choice. Till then it's the gym.
That's why you weigh your plates if they're +/- 0.5lbs it's acceptable otherwise return them. Plates are plates if they are the specified weight it doesn't matter if they're rusty and painted over
look into factory seconds. i bought rogue hi temp bumpers for about 1.20/LB because they had very minor imperfections that i dont notice.
>Also if you're starting you don't need to be buying 100+ kilos of plates.
100kg of plates would last me exactly 2 months if I was genetic trash like you.
I was using more for bench and rows after 4 months and lower body lifst passed 2.5pl8 in 5 weeks.
Why would anyone go on the Internet and tell lies?
>both the weight and price are measured in pounds
>Brit still can't put two and two together
A year's gym dues is anywhere from £300 to £700 a year depending on your market. Buy the gear yourself and you'll save a ton over the years. Get pl8z second hand. Don't go cheap on the bar - a good one is worth the money.
How do you tell a good bar from a bad one
My gym is £215 a year.
lmao alright budd
thats why I turned my own weights
calculated the necessary volume and put that shit on the lathe
strength shop have a big mark up on there plates. cheapest place I know to buy plates from in the UK is fitness superstore
most people will squat/dl 100kg in the first month or so of lifting lad. also its a pain having to put all your change plates on ust to make weight. they rattle around and shit
you two are retarded
>most people will squat/dl 100kg in the first month
you missed
>or so
Id say its reasonable to assume even weak men can pull 70-80kg day one, adding 5kg a week, its pretty easy lad
I pay $10/month for planet fitness and get free pizza. You jealous soyboy?
>even weak men can pull 70-80kg day one
Are you by any chance fat as fuck?
I was ~60kg when I started lifting. pulled 70x1 with terrible form the first time lifting. my twink sister had a go and pulled 50kg...
70kg is around the average weight of a person. youre telling me you dont think a normal man would be able to carry one of his friends or something???
Shipping heavy ass shit requires energy.
Lol 150 kg of iron isn't worth 250 poons steering.
buy it used. i bought 350 pounds of plates for $300.
>painting directly onto rust
fucking clean it off with an angle grinder and wire wheel. that's going to crack/peel so fast.
We're talking about actual lifting with reps, not once. Is that what you do in the gym? Lift 200kg once and go home?
>angle grinder
now he'll think he can lift more weight than he really can. sand paper or if it's really bad then a needle gun
I prefer this to op’s pic. Rusty iron is what real men lift
within a few days I was doing 70x3 with in 1-2 months I was doing 100x3. noob gains kiddo

Somewhat related question.
When the barbell info says the limit is xxx kilos/pounds, how reliable it is? At what point would it snap and fuck up everything?
It would probably bend, not straight snap.
Reliability probably depends on manufacturer.
buying weights in pounds
I got a bunch of weights free because they were rusty. Half of them are KGs and half are LBs, so I have 44lb plates and 45lb plates.
It's annoying but I'm so damn cheap.
My fucking 55kg wife pulled 80kg on her second week of deadlifting.
How can you be so weak?
>It's annoying but I'm so damn cheap.
My old gym had custom made rubber sheaths for 20kg plates.
It took me 3 years to learn that they were actually 20,6kg and I've been benchpressing 230lbs for reps instead of 225.
Help lads. I've been doing a bodyweight routine from /r/fitness. Where do I buy more bodyweights?
How many reps did your whore of a wife did?
shipping because it is heavy
most cheap barbells (rated to 300kg) will start to deform by 4pl8. sometimes less
webm related for you virgins that doubt my wife's gainz
you sound like an edgy numale. fucking lol i bet you use a typewriter font too
Doing Gods work Amigo
Please don't encourage this bejavier.
Looks like someone wants RAW heroin in his eyeball.
i have a homegym but only have a crappy
Weld your own cage, it's easy.
feel like i'd spend more on welding equipment than i would on a cage.
also i don't know how the fuck to weld. i'm a girl raised in soft liberal surroundings.
Marcy makes a decent cheap cage. $300. MWM 7041.
According to rip, if you're not squatting 100 kgs within 6-8 weeks, you're not even doing the program
If you're a girl them buying the cage is the best, if you tried to make your own you would fuck it up.
Check for a used one on line, that's how I got a barbell for $50.
What about squat stands with safeties? Never seen the point of a whole power rack
You can get one from rogue rated to 1000lbs for
Never buy used/old/crap equipment unless you want to buy twice.
T. Had $300 homegym that was a pain in the ass to use. Now have $5000 home gym with actual quality stuff that’s actually night and day
>it’s just Weight bro it’s all the same
That’s what I kept telling myself til I finally experienced having nice high quality stuff
>bejavier
subtle kek
Why am I such an idiot and never thought of painting my plates. They are cheap Chinese plates with lead peeling off.
Also going from using a $80 Chinese eBay 7ft Barbell to a $600 American built power bar. That alone made me gain an entire plate on my deadlift because I could finally pull without the barbell spinning out of my hands like a helicopter.
fuck you, girls can do things. other girls. not me...
that's what i've been looking at, but i'm sorta confused by everything there. there's so many different ones to choose from and i don't really understand the difference between them. here's what i use now, and i hate that the safeties are so short (makes me stand in a weird place and i do very wide stances because my feet touch the things on the ground) and that the things where you put the barbell on to do squats are like that. at the gym you can just walk the bar back into the rack, but mine i have to carefully set it on the things or it'll tip over.
so what i want is a squat stand with normal-sized safeties, a more sensible thing to rack the bar in, and also the ability to store plates on the back of it for stability.
trying to find that combination of things at the cheapest price on rogue is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
>built power bar
>Proudly made in America™(China™)
>girls can do things
Yeah, like suck dicks and complain.
Trips of truth.
>w-why can't I get laid guys
I know rogue's catalog quite well so I will spoon-feed you.
For exactly what you want the cheapest configuration is this.
An S1 squat stand : roguefitness.com
A pair of compatible spotter arms : roguefitness.com
A pair of dildo thingies to keep weights on the back :
roguefitness.com
Alternatively, you could go with their new cheapest squat stand, the ES1 V2 (roguefitness.com
The catch in your case being that I don't think the dildo thingies are compatible with it. But you could just stack the weight on the back without them, I know some people do it that way.
how much would one with a pull up bar cost?
that marcy one is looking pretty attractive at $300ish
Go for one from rogue or summat - should be like £250/300. Ohio's good. B&R's pretty great if you want to spend twice the value of the bar importing it to this God forsaken island. Any of the 'big names' is decent but you'll likely pay over the odds for a competition-calibrated job from Eleiko etc.
Lucky cunt.
because you are too stupid to find used weights at the flea market, garage sales, craigslist, or facebook marketplace.
rust comes through the paint unless you wire brush it off 1st... also you might be able to use special paints designed for rust.
That would be the S2 (425$) instead of the S1 (345$). As you can see, rogue is expensive.
Also, if you are willing to compromise on quality, as it seems, check out Titan fitness. They are basically a rogue copycat, made in China, looser quality control, but way cheaper and a lot of people are satisfied with their products.
>being this fucking dumb
youtube.com
get your shit together, if you cant build a basic stuff like this kys
It's not pee she's so turned on she's squirting
god I want to shower in her pee
Hello roastie and/or teenager.
So in other words, you're a kissless virgin
would Coca Cola work to remove the rust?
damn $80 for a fucking pull up bar :/
Bought a northern lights power cage, a bench, a barbell set with up to 365lbs. Tots cost about 1495. Still having trouble putting it together though. The bolts to fasten the cage have some plastic in it to increase friction and I can’t screw the bolts all the way into the screw by hand, I need power tools.
Anyone use northern lights stuff? Their oly bar, bumper plates, and the cage all seem good
titan.fitness
Has everything you need. They also sell on Amazon if you have prime.
I think dicks sporting goods has a deal where you get the Olympic bar and enough weights to make it 300 lbs for 200$ it's what I got for my home set up
CLR and a wire brush.
You don't need power tools dude. You need hand tools. Go buy a wrench and socket set. You should have one already unless you are grill
Yeah I bet my neighbours are gonna be super happy about my dank 3pl8 diddlies m8. This piece of trash commieblock would probably collapse from one set.
>tfw my pal didn't give a flying fuck and bought a drum set in his apartment and almost got evicted
Why return them if they weigh more as long as they consistently weigh more?
This.
Buy it off of craigslist/yard sales/second hand shops.
Don't pay for new shit.
>removing the rust
you're taking off the weight.
your 2pl8 bench is only ~1.5 pl8
this is why i always opt for first floor apartments.
I've got a bench, a loadable bar and 2 loadable dumbbells for free. People are looking to get rid of this stuff all the time. I found a curl bar with weights on it in a trash pile while riding my bike.
>I need power tools
lol ur fuckin done, m9
can't get evicted from the first floor?
evicted for fucking what?
are you dropping your weights all the time like an asshole?
i have carpet all over and doing deads on just that doesn't make much noise really.
>suck dicks
They're probably worse then men at it, and don't do it after marriage anyway.
>complain
Ok, that's ligit.
Yes. Anything acidic, just leave it in a bowl for a night and then scrub that shit off in the morning. I did that with my olympic bars and plates.
You can also use white vinegar + lemon + salt if you need it done in like an hour or something
