You must be a relatively new lifter. As your upper body becomes more developed, the contrast in size becomes more and more ridiculous. It also leads to odd gait and movement patterns, because your relatively small/weak lower body has to move and stabilize your large upper body. Trying to exert large forces in this configuration is something like firing a cannon from a canoe.

As for fighting - if you get front stomp kicked by someone with a powerful leg & hips, you are absolutely fucked.

Its all about hip size anyway. If your hips are small enough then your legs can be as big tree trunks and it'll look amazing.
