What matters is time under tension. The most hypertrophy is achieved when you train so that your muscle is under tension for 45-60 seconds per set. If your reps last for 4.5 seconds, you need at least 10 to get into that zone. Generally 8-12 reps is good unless you do them very quickly, but what's important once again is time under tension, not reps.
