Fiction by its nature is much more complex than any expository work because the true message in the story isn't outright stated, it's shown.

That's the best part of reading fiction is the challenge of deciphering exactly what that author is trying to tell you.

Good fiction, while much more rare than shitty fiction, is easily accessible because of its timeless nature. There's tons of lists everywhere on what the greatest works of fiction are.

It just so happens a fuckload of people write shitty fiction, because shitty fiction needs a lot less work than good fiction or nonfiction because it doesn't have to be grounded in reality, it can be whatever fantasy-ass garbage that ass bandit author thinks of.
