depends what you wanna do, if you are doing a long fast take the intensity way down while you aren't eating. If short fast the usual protocol is smth like 20-30 hours fasting, work out and then eat. Look up training in a fasted state.

Even if we could find a way to add length to telomeres effectively, you would still have to deal with the inevitable accumulation of toxic substances and general damage in the body. Ex. your arteries would still keep getting more clogged no matter what your diet is, leading you to an inevitable death at let's say the age of 200. Cancer would also hit at some point no matter what, since it can occur by itself. Medicine would have to progress. You also couldn't avoid dying from an accident in the long run. My best bet for eternal life would be somehow making your conciousnes go over to a super-computer by connecting the nerves of your brain to it, and allowing the action potentials to form a new pathway into the computer.

The largest challenge to a healthy and longer life today is our habits. We're victims of our own success. Obesity, substance abuse, stress, social isolation, sleep deficit, and so on. The gap in health and happiness between the current generation and even a century back would be immense if we could keep ourselves controlled, but it's not easy to keep disciplined.

Personally, I think we'll see a backlash against sugars in the near future, the same way tobacco was outed in a big way, and that will be the next big hurdle that modern society will have to get itself over. But who knows.

1. Cell loss and cell atrophy. We can address this with stem cells therapy and tissue engineering.

2. Nuclear mutations and epimutations. We can solve this problem with whole-body interdiction of the lengthening of telomeres.

3. Mitochondrial mutations. Solution: allotopic expression of just 13 proteins needed by the mitochondria.

4. Apoptosis-resistant cells. We will need to remove these by either using immunotherapy to have the immune system hunt down and destroy these cells, or through the use of nanotechnology to do the same.

5. Extracellular crosslinks. We'll need to use advanced glycation end product-breaking molecules and tissue engineering. 6. Extracellular aggregates. Solvable by stimulation of the immune system to clear out the aggregates.

7. Intracellular aggregates. We'll deal with this problem by equipping the lysosome with enzymes capable of degrading the aggregates.

As to the problem of cell loss and cell atrophy: some of the cells in our bodies cannot be replaced, or can be only replaced very slowly—more slowly than they die.

This decrease in cell number affects some of the most important tissues of the body. Muscle cells are lost in skeletal muscles and the heart, causing them to become frailer with age. Loss of neurons in the substantia nigra causes Parkinson's disease, while loss of immune cells impairs the immune system.

This can be partly corrected by therapies involving exercise and growth factors, but stem cell therapy, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering are almost certainly required for any more than just partial replacement of lost cells.

As to the problem of nuclear mutations and epimutations: these are changes to the nuclear DNA (nDNA), or to proteins which bind to the nDNA. Certain mutations can lead to cancer.
