Anyone here use creatine? If so does it do what they claim it does with the increased strength and muscle size?

proven to be a placebo long ago.
I've never used it but I know people who have and the claims seem to be founded. But you can get creatine from just eating meat (albeit at a lower dose)
1/10
Quite true. Bit if you want enough creatine you need to eat tons of meat
Because of water retention. Its one of the most studied supplements in athletic and overall daily performance. Nothing you can lose from taking it even if you didnt lift.
I've been taking creatine, fucking joke. I have to bomb like 16 glasses of water a day and even then I have awful drymouth on this shit. 0 actual benefits.
>Nothing you can lose from taking it even if you didnt lift.
Other than your hair.
Creatine added 50lbs to my squat over night. Unfortunately, the Department of Natty Compliance Officers raided my home while I was asleep and revoked my membership card. I'm currently awaiting sentencing. Hoping they don't garnish my gains for the next 5 years.
Only matters if you're a woman
Bullshit detected
Only in very few cases where its common among family members with hair loss.
>"drymouth" not "loading phase liquid shits"
Couldn't even be bothered to hit up the wiki eh?
This
Nice peer reviewed academic papers you've posted to back up your claims. Or even provided a fucking reason. Makes for a really strong argument. Faggot.
t. genelet
I'm calling BS, the DoNCOs would never raid your house over a measly 50lb o/n squat gain.
It's just obvious that it's bullshit, it's as much bullshit as someone claiming to bench 1000lbs the first time benching, doesn't need facts it's just so much nonsense that it's impossible
Yeah totally. Great non-response.
Stay mad bullshitter
I hope you know that the creatine supplement only aids in increasing the amount you obtain outside of eating meat itself and if you dont already have a high storage of it loaded into your body when produced by the liver right?
If you see no results thats fine, it doesnt work for everyone.
Shit will make you bald as it raises your DHT.
There has never been a study showing hair loss from creatine supplementation. Just one study in some rugby players where their DHT was elevated. Has not been replicated since. It's a theoretical risk, but not a lot supporting it.
Why is "there are no studies showing x" brought up so much in fitness?
I bet there are no studies showing that drinking bleach is bad for you, but obviously it is.
Creatine will make your hair fall out. it sucks but it will. Don't fall for the "HURR NO STUDIES SHOWING THAT" bullshit. There's no studies showing it wont either. Also please take note of the people advising you take creatine that always have shitty hairlines or thinning hair.
>Creatine will make your hair fall out
Based on what? Veeky Forums memes?
A study suggesting that creatine consumption leads to a DHT increase.
either you're very young and taking creatine and you arent noticing hair loss or you have good genetics and your hair probably wont fall out ever
if you're over 20-25 and you take creatine and you dont have bulletproof hair genetics, your hair will start to fall out. if you're younger than 20-25 just wait for it ;)
for me it fills back in when i stop taking creatine. but i shed like crazy after a few weeks on the creatine.
there are countless people claiming the same thing all over the internet about hairloss in relation to creatine. you think we're all lying??
if you take creatine does it still count as being natty?
Pure placebo effect. If anything you look slighty worse on it. Does have other benefits like increase you DHT which alone is worth it in my opinion
So take at 26?
Nothing wrong with having more testosterone
Yeah but I think I have androgenic alopecia and I don't think the buzzcut will suit me.
Maybe I'll try it tomorrow at 5g/day for a few weeks and see what happens, I intend to go on permacruise anyway so my hair will fall sooner or later.
29 here, no hair loss at all while on creatine. Your evidence is anecdotal at best. Perhaps you just have crap genetics? Maybe your hair would fall out regardless.
Genetic hair loss in man is due to sensitivity of the hair follicel against DHT especially. It's on your X-chromosome if you have it. So you can thank your mother. But it won't show on her since she doesn't have any DHT.
Any effect on hair? I have a receding hairline in my family. I take rogain just in case (I'm 23) but currently i have no hair issues
>pure placebo
>explains how it's not placebo
What
There are some other non-sex-linked genes associated with hair loss that you can inherit from both parents, but you're largely correct. And additionally women also have two X-chromosomes so they're much less likely to have two genes that predispose them to hair loss, further decreasing the risk.
I'm currently trying to find evidence in the primary literature. I'm in the exact same boat as you- even age. I'm not seeing any evidence for actual hair loss. The only study I can find just says creatine can increase DHT, (a powerful anabolic/androgenic steroid hormone), and people seem to have inferred in popular culture that creatine will make you bald, since follicular DHT sensitivity is one of the predisposing factors toward androgenic alopecia.
Actually, I was a little wrong- DHT is powerfully androgenic, but weirdly only weakly anabolic.
...so we're good to go?
I went from 155 to 169 lbs in about 3 months using creatine+mass gainer doing only body weight exercise and jiu-jitsu. Now at 11.2% bf
It works.
Was taking it for months before I couldn't be bothered to drink the shit any more since it always makes me feel like heaving.
Haven't had any for around 5 weeks now so I'm pretty sure it's out of my system and I don't really feel any weaker in the gym.
I wish more people went for the Sandow look desu

Creatine is actually an estrogenic compound that messes with your gains. I lost over 100lbs on my bench the first week of my creatine cycle. I now have grown a clitoris where my balls use to be and fight in the name of feminism. 0/10 do not recommend.

Lots of people claim their kids got autism from vaccines, that MSG gives them migraines, that they get sick from wifi routers, etc. Your anecdote isn't any more compelling than theirs.
I'm >25, btw.
Enough with this meme already, i've been using it for over seven years in eight week cycles when bulking and never lost a strand. Stop making excuses and accept you have shit genes and are losing your hair early because of them.
I've never read the full thing before. I've only seen snippets of it. That was a damn good read
I accidentally missed two of the middle sheets, where he falls from lifthalla.
It basically just makes you retain water. I stopped taking creatine and within two weeks, I lost 10 lbs and my biceps which previously taped 19" reduced to 17.5" without losing any strength. This shit made me retain so much water that my deodorant started burning my skin and a 12v car battery could actually shock me with dry hands. I stopped taking it because my body treated it as poison. After 4 months, the site of the jug made me feel ill, the taste made me gag and actually drinking it would make me throw up after every workout.
Found these at home. Gonna start using them (expiration dates are in 5 months)
Any advice or experience on weather I take it pre or post workout?
Thanks
also curious what people found worked better for them?
Most articles seem inconclusive.

i would stay way from that stuff, it's really dangerous
just opened up the creatine
all this white powdery stuff
feels like i'm a druggy
Time to leave humanity behind me!!
Take 5 grams of creatine a day. I take mine post-workout and pretty much at the same time on rest days. Doesn't really matter. I think the other stuff is best taken pre-workout
thanks!
will stick to this!
maybe this will help me get past 100lb on my OHP!!
Ive been taking 3g of creatine a day for a month and have noticed almost no difference. I was doing linear progression before that and am still doing it now, so I am getting stronger but idk how much of that can be attributed to the creatine or my work ethic/diet. I also dont think I retained any extra water or gained weight from the creatine (I did gain weight, but again I think its from my diet).
Is there any easy test to see if youre a creatine non-responder? I heard around 25% of people dont respond to it at all, why would that be?
>Not taking saw palmetto to reduce your DHT levels
>literally anti-androgening yourself
>literally stopping masculinizing chemicals from masculinizing you
the absolute fucking state of Veeky Forums
>How dare that man protect his hair!
u dont need creatine if u cant ohp 100 poounds
Whilst this is the most Veeky Forums thing i have ever seen...
This also brings out the autist in me.
Well done, whoever made this
:''')
ohh darn..
i'm 1.5 months into SL and i got stuck at 95lbs OHP
when does it start becoming helpful if not a 100lb?
I though it just gives you enough energy to finish you sets without having to rest a super long time
