Am I the only one that doesn’t get the hype around Sumo, I keep seeing it more often, I feel like most people doing it are just ego lifting for attention or to impress normies on instagram.

Id don't see a problem if you are doing sumo properly.
It is mostly done by gym thots though

I can only sumo and trap bar deadlift after recovering from a herniated disc. Sumo feels good man. Glutes for the sloots.

I know a lot of people sumo because they medically can't, or couldn't safely get the traditional form down. The biggest deadlifts I see are all conventional deadlifts. Mostly females and shorties like me doing sumo in my town.
