Earth's Reaction to Alien Culture Thread

We always have threads about how aliens would react to us, or just what we wish aliens would say about us.

We almost never touch on what our society's reaction to alien cultures could be. Especially things we would consider abhorrent.

Like say we meet a friendly alien species who, for procreaton, have to brutally rape their females. Like, consensual sex absolutely will not result in a pregnancy, and neither gender derives pleasure from the act. Both the males and females of their species don't see anything wrong with it, but most of Earth obviously does.

What would we try to do? Would we have any right to do anything?

Things like that, and things not like that.

I believe our reaction would be "Fuck off space niggers, we're full" Accompanied with an image of our finest alien pepe

First off, please don't let this be magical realm.

Secondly, what if they don't reproduce via sexual reproduction?

Thirdly, in all honesty, I think aliens can be broken down into several categories, based on "how" alien and strange they are.

Familiar: For the most part, they think in similar ways to us. They have similar values or their analogues, and can be treated as an exceedingly exotic culture, but nothing too strange.

Strange: Communication is possible, but there are several core differences in the process of thought between our two species; diplomatic or cultural exchange is difficult, and possibly not wanted by either party.

Maximally Strange: Communication is possible, but they are as inhuman as possible; communication can be posed in terms of concrete terms or extremely simple abstract concepts, but otherwise their biology and way of thought is so inhuman that they could not hope to understand our abstract values beyond cause and effect, and likewise us to theirs.

Absolutely Strange: Communication is not possible. They are recognizably sapient, but can otherwise be considered to be a part of nature. Mutual coexistence may be possible, but it will always be via circumstance, not by agreement.

We are just going to pirate their movies, vidya, and RPGs.

They will most likely do the same.

It will be an endless circle.

Guess it makes us easier to fuck them I guess?

Well we don't really have a right to judge an alien's morality as long as it does not harm us.

If none of the aliens are particularly displeased about their own culture then we shouldn't really care.

I think it would depend on how we're involved. When we meet, do they try to brutally tape us? Are we allowed to sexually assault them as a hello? How will they react when we try to have consensual missionary sec with them?

>What would we try to do?
Nothing. Our governments would work their hardest to not offend our new overlords. They would sell out our species for the chance to be overseers if humans became a slave race.
>Would we have a right to do anything?
Only suggesting artificial insemination in case they never thought of it. If it really is impossible then their biology would be too different to make comparisons.
Personally, I think this form of reproduction sounds too primitive to work for a space-faring race.

>not regurgitating food on your partner's mouth as a sign of love.

I dont think we'll ever see a Star Trek/Star Wars-like society with multiple species living together. Even if two species vreath oxygen, they could have evolved to want more oxygen, to the point it is toxic to us, or tolerates different temperatures. That's without entering the realm of completely alien psychologies.

>it's another "the government is totally evil and controlled by a singular evil group of masterminds" episode
oy vey

despite this we will still try to fuck them

i guarantee you some future shock jock equivalent will immediately weasel his way into an interview and ask about their weird porn

What are you on about? I'm just saying that those currently in power would definitely sell out the species if they hade a chance to remain high up on the social ladder even if it meant answering to a new boss.
The government already caters exclusively to the wills of non-human entities: Corporations and Jews

Not ALL the elites are money-grubbing sociopaths, goy.

>You no doubt find our breeding conflicts reprehensible.
>This is because of your weakness, your females don't even consume the males.
>Yet another reason you are fit only for servitude, feeble mammals.
And I see your thinly-veiled Islamiphobia thread for what it is, OP. It's their culture, don't be a bigot.

Did it... carve that stone clube using its proboscis?

it has hands and a "proboscis."

Holy shit, have I been misinterpreting Expedition this whole time? I thought the Eosapiens were merely 'large bear' kind of size.

You have been. Eosapiens are HUGE.

>"Looming a full twenty meters in height, it was a veritable study in alienness. Its cuticle-covered body was an intricate collection of ridges, folds and curves, flanged and wrinkled so as to almost defy description. Here a pair of moisture-dampened openings quivered and flared, while behind float-bladders pulsed and expanded whith inrushing air. A web of glowing biolights surrounded a small pair of recessed infrared pits. Two swinging, orange sonarbooms stretched from beneath enormous, overhanging fins. Above them, a pair of gyrating balance organs oscillated in a blur of constant movement. Surmounting the forward, vertical portion of the organism's body was a great translucent bladder that seemed to be its principal organ of buoyancy. Running throughout this vast sagittal sac was a fine tracery of veins, delicately backlit by the glowing clouds behind. But most remarkable of all, two muscular arms, terminating in dextrous-looking hands, hung from the creature's sides; in disbelief I stared at the giant club that the creature carried. It was botanic in origin, and gave the appearance of having been gnawed into shape."

Oh, and that last bit means that yeah, it probably did carve the club with its proboscis.

Well, thats what I get for not reading the book!

Man, that explains why they're top dogs then, I was thinking that the extent of their tool use wouldn't help them much against Skewers but I guess if they're actually slightly larger than the things then having a club would be enough to even the odds against the whole jet propelled turbo-shiv thing the Skewers have going for them.

bump

that is if we even define communication the same way, maybe the communicate in ways we mentally cannot comprehend. and teh same goś to them.

humans make molecules vibrate in such a pattern that another human can understand him.

yeah why an alion not comuicate only trough biolumincence, skin paterns a la chamelon color change or even smell

>Secondly, what if they don't reproduce via sexual reproduction?
We may be growing pod people 50 years from now, who knows, ahah.

>Strange: Communication is possible, but there are several core differences in the process of thought between our two species; diplomatic or cultural exchange is difficult, and possibly not wanted by either party.
Sort of like cats and dogs then?
>Maximally Strange: Communication is possible, but they are as inhuman as possible; communication can be posed in terms of concrete terms or extremely simple abstract concepts, but otherwise their biology and way of thought is so inhuman that they could not hope to understand our abstract values beyond cause and effect, and likewise us to theirs.
Individual minds meeting hive minds? Or maybe like an octopus (loner with decentralized nervous sytem) meeting pretty much any other animal you'd call clever.

>Absolutely Strange: Communication is not possible. They are recognizably sapient, but can otherwise be considered to be a part of nature. Mutual coexistence may be possible, but it will always be via circumstance, not by agreement.
Dunno. Maybe two AIs, one evolved in a flat virtual reality and another evolved in a 4D reality?

>Most people
AAAAAAAHHH, FUCKING ALIENS, RUN!
>Religious people
FUCKING DEMONS! REPENT, THE END IS NIGH!
>Some people
Hey, aliens, take me with you!

...

>have to brutally rape their females
They're an evolutionary failure and will die out before too long, be ready to snatch their stuff.

Also, nice magical realm.

>Well we don't really have a right to judge an alien's morality as long as it does not harm us.
Implying that will stop anyone.

>I wouldn't recomend having sexual intercourse with our females
>you see, the fact is that unlike your females, ours have "vagina" teeth
>whenever it comes to impregnation, what you call penis is biten off, it will serve as nutrition to embryo
>male, now unable to reproduce, will serve as nutrition for the children when they are born
>and so goes on our wonderfoul miracle of life

christianpost.com/news/vatican-astronomer-says-alien-life-will-be-discovered-but-will-not-prove-or-disprove-god-126813/

The RCC will be ready to preach to the ayys.

>or even smell
We finaly meet aliens, and an ambassador accidentally declares war by letting out a foul fart at the wrong time.

inb4 missioners teaching religion to aliens

yeah, nah

>brutally tape us
Two thoughts come in mind; they have discovered duct tape and use it as a torture device, pasting it to people and tearing it off, and the other is that they still use vhs and they will record is with camcorders, chasing people while screaming and making horrifying noises with their version of heavy metal playing in the background. Despite all this, no one actually gets hurt.

Looked more like a scenario where they had a choice between being menial slaves like the rest or overseers. People will just tend to choose what is best for them and theirs in such situations.

>Like say we meet a friendly alien species who, for procreaton, have to brutally rape their females.
I hope you know that we have more bizarre examples of procreation here on earth than that.

>Like, consensual sex absolutely will not result in a pregnancy, and neither gender derives pleasure from the act.

On an evolutionary level this is counterproductive, the pleasure creatures get from intercourse directly serves the purpose of procreation. Having it completely backwards would mean that the species will get out bred by those that don't have this limitation. Furthermore if said species is also Intelligent enough and scientifically advanced to realize the obvious discomfort that comes from procreation then they would obviously spend significant effort to alleviate this. For example humans also gone far to make childbearing and childbirth as smooth and risk free as possible.

Then again if they are not intelligent/they don't have a problem with painful procreation then humans probably would just leave them be as they are. Same way as we do leave the SM community alone with their deviant sexual practices as well.

...

>Sort of like cats and dogs then?
More like a species that has human-like intelligence, but for some reason has no concept of one or several values that makes human, human, or it has values that we don't, for example.
Perhaps they have no concept of the tribe, and are fiercely individualistic to the extreme.
Perhaps they have little to no respect for the individual, despite being individually sapient.
Perhaps they have no concept of boredom.

>Individual minds meeting hive minds? Or maybe like an octopus (loner with decentralized nervous sytem) meeting pretty much any other animal you'd call clever.
Not even that so much; just meeting something so utterly different from us that neither us nor them can see the logic in each others actions. This is what people mean when they talk about the truly alien.

>Dunno. Maybe two AIs, one evolved in a flat virtual reality and another evolved in a 4D reality?
Depends, but they could be smart enough to work out the kinks of communication. This is more in regards to aliens that simply don't recognize our existence as a sapient species, or is incapable of communicating with us in a meaningful manner, or us with them.
They are "recognizably sapient" only in the manner that they are hypothetically being observed to build machines and technology that necessitates intelligence of some kind.
