One Piece Adventure Quest 26

>And yet all it takes is one person picking an option no one else is picking and rolling a one to fuck us over.
It has never really mattered much, not seeing a reason to be stinky about it after two years.

Because it's still bullshit? It's punishing the players for because some asshole decided he wants to roll.

Not really bullshit. It makes perfect sense as rule, and its not like we ever had a issue with it.

Being scared of rolling always seemed silly to me.

Considering that 1's in this quest lead to very bad things happening, It isn't that silly.

It kinda is, 1s are as likely as 100s or 20s. Its just part of the game.

And yet there have been a lot more 1's than 100's or 20's and they've all had terrible shit happen.

I find that claim statistically dubious, and I can't remember any 1 making terrible shit happen.
Though we might have a simple disagreement on what constitues "terrible", its not like we lost our legs.

And she does look intimidating, I think it has to be because she's hiding half of her face with the mask. And since most people on this island seem to distrust marines...her uniform can't be helping either.

I smile and laugh, making Keli turn to me, still looking pretty scary.

"come on don't pay attention to them, it's our break" I say, gently smacking her shoulder, feeling a little nervous before her eyes turn soft again "no use in getting worried because of a few looks"

"You're right, I should be used to it anyways" She says calmly, before she smiles judging from how her mask wrinkles "it's just so...frustrating getting treated like this"

"I know, but so long as you help people, your image ain't worth spit" I say, picking my teeth "Just treat people well and eventually you'll do the same"

"Hmm, I guess aspire to be you then" she says teasingly "...since you don't care what other people think about you, even if they hate or fear you"

"Eh, I've had years to adjust to it, you'll get it eventually" I say shrugging "besides you're a nice girl, you just have to show people it and they'll flock to you"

"do..you really think so?" She asks cheerfully, tilting her head "Most people say I'm strict"

"You need to be, doesn't mean your mean" I say "I mean you seem nice enough to me"

"Such a sweet girl" She sighs as she covers her mouth "but, my teeth always seem to make people a little...on edge around me"

"Girl, if I can make as many friends as I have looking like their nightmares, you can do it" I say happily "You just need to...relax a bit, since you are a little prone to..."

"Being strict" she says flatly "I just like order, I hate seeing things out of place, including people, I know but...that really actually helps adela"

I shrug and smile, before I freeze as she touches my shoulder.

"So what does coffee taste like anyways?" She asks a bit awkwardly "I've never had it before"

"Oh well depends on how you have it" I say excitedly, grinning widely as we get closer to the cafe I've been frequenting near the pier

"Eh?" Keli asks, looking confused as hell

"WELL!" I shout, clapping my hands together, taking a deep breath "You can have it like I do, black with nothing added, as concentrated and strong as possible, you can add cream or milk to it to make it lose it's bite, you can add sugar or honey to it to make it sweet, hell you can dip things in it but that's all a bunch of childish stuff you know"

Her eyes go empty as she stares at me, not getting a word of what I'm saying as I lead her into the cafe's doors. The music stops when she comes in.

"See you need to savour the flavor, the rich earthiness it has and be careful to not burn yourself, even if you make it a bit lighter, you should still take it slowly" I say moving my hand up and down like I'm drinking a cup, showing her how to do it

"But you just chug it" She says slowly

"I only do that when I'm tired, which is most of the time since I never sleep" I say smiling "and my aim gets a little sloppy when I lose my edge"

"Ah, I get it, it's like how pirates fight better drunk than sober" She says nodding slowly as the barista looks at her like a scared pup "what are you looking at"

"A..ah miss fal" She says bowing quickly "I didn't know you were so close with Adela here or..or liked coffee, er"

"I'm introducing her to it" I say patting Keli on the back as she looks around the place with a look of disgust in her face

"Why is everything so lopsided?" She ask coldly, covering her mask with her hand "nothing's in place right"

"I..I can have it fixed" the barista says nervously, sounding terrified as the rest of the cafe goes quite
