they have alpharius's hands in a glass case in there.

Is there anyone else to whom the Horus miniature looks somehow wrong?
In general I like it so much that I'm playing Sons of Horus, but his proportions feel wrong. More precisely, his legs look too short compared to his torso. Is it just the angle, or can someone who has seen the mini live confirm it? The egghead doesn't bother me as it is easily fixed by pose and paint.

forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Horus-the-Warmaster-Primarch-of-the-Sons-of-Horus

Will trade soul for copy of Praetorian of dead Alpharius on Audiobook

I think it's just the angle he's at. Plus, maybe the armor adds to it?

Silonius led the Alpha Legion fleet of over 200 ships in the subsequent Battle of Pluto. However when Alpharius himself seemingly was killed by Rogal Dorn, he ordered a retreat and seemed unconcerned with his Primarch's death, stating that the entire Legion is one

He didn't want to cry in front of Uncle Rogal. But Uncle Rogal knew he wanted to cry, and Silonius knew Uncle Rogal knew that. How? Because Silonius was crying on the inside, and he also knew that Uncle Rogal was aware of him crying on the inside and Uncle Rogal knew that Silonius knew that Uncle Rogal knew he was crying on the inside.

>who really won Calth
Nobody. If we take a strategic perspective, even it was a pyrrhic victory for the Ultramarines, so much was lost that could have been that not even the burning of Colchis was a sufficient measure of revenge. Also the Underworld war on Calth lasted longer than the Heresy and that required resources and warriors desperately needed everywhere.
On the other hand, Lorgar was (out-universe) ultimately a pawn and even though his planned sacrifice to bring about the Ruinstorm was successful, the wider was was in the end run by the gods and his victory over the Emperor foiled.
In the end I'd say Calth was purely a symbolic victory for the Imperium, but even symbols have their value.

It could be, the thing is I can't decide one way or another because it's somewhere in between natural and unnatural, which goes without saying when we deal with primarchs.
In comparison to Perturabo, maybe it's not in the legs, but the head being too high. If Horus puts on a helmet, he'll be unable to move the head without hitting his armour niche all the time.

user, I consider 10,000 dead Word Bearers a victory even if every man, woman and child on the planet died in the process. I can honor the civilians' memory with a monument and build the new colonists homes out of Word Bearer bones.
>but the head being too high. If Horus puts on a helmet, he'll be unable to move the head without hitting his armour niche all the time
We found his weakness!

The Word Bearers aren't a bad legion, don't be forced to hate the WBs by the IW fags that make up the majority of this generals population.

His head is a bit high, I also think his huge shoulders make his legs seem a bit small - it feels like his thighs should be longer

Overall though, still a good model

Does anyone use Whirlwinds in their legions?
I know last thread Medusas are generally reckoned to be better than Basilisks, because a 20-foot range is rarely needed whereas strength is always nice, but does anyone use the only artillery tank that actually remains in the space marine arsenal?

Concerning Alpharius (again): if you were writing a story that you plan on having a major twist to, especially concerning the resurrection of a character, are you really going to reveal that to your audience before it happens? It would absolutely ruin any suspense or mystery if BL said "nah mate, he's just pretending." If course they're going to say he's dead for real.

I'm not saying that means Alpharius Lives, but the authors saying otherwise really doesn't mean anything. Maybe they're right, but maybe they're lying.

Better armoured higher strength and AP mean the classic whirligig is rare on the battlefield, arguements could be made for the Helios or Scorpius though I guess.

I don't hate them because of the IWfags.

This, theres gonna be a bigger plan with the cabal resurrecting Alphy's warpbound soul, who now goes loyal due to the horrors of being stuck as a dead soul in the warp, against Omegon, who is now stuck in his role as the villian. I refuse to accept that shitshow that was the finale of that book

Hey user, I don't hate the Word Bearers. One of my favorite legions.

>world eaters slaughters billions of innocents while using banned technology
>night lords actually wear the flayed skin of humans while being known for terror tactics
>emperor decides to punish the word bearers for spending their time on building religious utopias

Wtf, I hate the Emperor now!?

>Overall though, still a good model
Seeing it done by PaintingBuddha sold it for me.

While I'm all in favour of Alpharius still affecting the war in some way, the Cabal and other deus ex machina cheap tricks the series is riddled with is the last thing we need. I'd prefer he stays dead over BL going that route.

How would you guys run a 2000pt Terminator-themed list that doesn't spam Dreadclaws? Legion is Blood Angels if it helps.

>Because the Emperor saw their use as exterminators
>The Emperor was about to censure them when Heresy happened
>Word Bearers fucked around for too long, and were first in what was probably the Emperor's list of problem children to deal with

The Enperor probably enabled the Heresy, if he has all the meta game knowledge, he probably wanted to be interred on the throne, spending ten thousand years collecting soul power while holding the imperium together, nigga wanted to be reincarnated as a chaos God after being fed the souls of countless psykers.

spam spartans

Do Iron Warriors were Chapter badges or any insignia declaring what grand company they belong to, or is it down just to what squad type and how hazardous they are?

In older lore he told Lorgar it was an unnecessary display of fealty and didn't burn down anything, in Collected Visions he told Lorgar that their mission was holy not Him.
That's just wrong.

>what squad type they belong to.

Bit of a tough one, BA rules don't suit terminators much. Neither of the legion rites is any use to you, but at least you can take assault cannons.

That's the point. The emperor is okay with terror even though he pretends he isn't

I hate them because they are weak in spirit, in fact, the weakest legion.

//Iron Hands player.

So new book guys.

its going to be faggot trash

My body isn't ready.
Brother, it's going to be skubtastic faggot trash. That's the worst kind of faggot trash.

I think you mean the best kind, new materiel for the thread to argue about is better than dead memes

I can get that, but why oh why can't it be the exact opposite of skubtastic faggot trash?

Anyone else think alpharius is alive and just "downloaded" his consciousness to silonius via his two librarians and the silonius leading the Pluto fleet is actually alpharius waiting for his consciousness to return to himki

No fuck off he's dead

Ok, I have to post this due to the shock that it was for me. This is MAJOR SPOILERS for Praetorian of Dorn so last warning.
How are we coping that Alpharius actually got killed by Dorn? The real Alpharius as Omegon actually felt the psychic link between the two break and that he felt completely alone. Now Omegon has taken up the role of Alpharius when he reports back to Horus. I was never expecting this and now we only have Omegon left. How does this change the Alpha Legion in the 40k present?

>How does this change the Alpha Legion in the 40k present?
it doesnt? they barely even do anything in 40k

omegameme probably got killed by girlyman so they are leaderless

Well, it's becoming ever clearer that the Emperor was aware of the incoming Heresy, possibly aware since the great crusade started. If that was the case his only end game was to destroy religion across the galaxy before being interred in on the golden throne to accumulate would with which to fuel his apotheosis into a new God. Obviously not a standard chaos God, but a god of order perhaps.

The arch traitors accused of having the weakest spirit, a legion that single handedly brought about the Heresy.

Weak willed?

Weak spirited?

Strong enough to discover the true gods in an age of atheism? Come on Iron Hand.

>Strong enough to discover the true gods in an age of atheism?
The Word Bearers believe their own lies, I don't even know how to react.

Hey, remember 3.5? The Chaos Gods did that only to make you happy just so they could crush it with the current Chaos Dex. Why? Because their raisins can only taste sweeter if your suffering is added to it.

Is this a 30k thing? I play IW in 40k and WB look fucking cool in 30k.

They did find the chaos gods though. There's no lies there, they be the real gods.

Well, the Legions can be loyalists or traitors, the legion space marines are most likely cooler then their 40k chapter equivalents.

That's why traitors are treated like shit. Because muh imperium when it was at its finest.

I looked at their portfolio and I can assure you "real gods" did not show up. The dinosaur, insanity, murder, mutation fetishes and sadism was all I saw before I had to violently rip my own eyes out and beat a tech priest to death for his eyes in a fit of Chaos God junk flashing. I can now see in multiple spectrums with my new bionic eyes, but the guilt remains. Not to mention my old eyes are now daemonically possessed.

They bent over for new overlords as soon as the oportunity presented itself, showing no spine nor loyalty. They then willingly let their bodies be posessed by xenos from another dimension on the basis that its the gods (who themselves often refer to themselves not as gods but the word will do for idiotic mortals) will.

Weak.

Nah, it's mostly memers here. I too, play IW and I love the Word Bearers.

If anything can be said about the Wordbearers, then it is that they are so desperate to worship something that they will bow down to the first thing that looks godly enough.

If one believes in gods, then there's almost always also some opposite to said gods that is rather nasty. WB got contacted by Chaos, saw all the butchery, mutation, plague and rape and went "this is fine"

Idiots

They aren't dead memes ! They are just pretending !

blacklibrary.com/black-library-live-2016.html

New HH incoming.

Any of you guys going to the BLL event?

Give me new releases

It is fine. They killed myriad of Xenos with no qualms, why would ritual sacrifice be any different?

I love the part where the lack of new Gal Vorbak is explained as the Chaos gods not really caring about space marines (surprise!) or that Ensouled & Neverborn symbiosis bs, so they began to supply possessed with lower quality daemons.
Yup, 40k possessed will never be as powerful as the original Blessed Sons because their so called dark "patrons" stopped caring about them 10 000 years ago.
>When the Dark Gods send their daemons, they're not sending their best. They're sending daemons that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems to us. They're bringing Mutations. They're bringing Horns. They're possessed."

ABD is aboradle.

>Chaos god junk flashing
Glad you survived. Mostly.

The scars remain, but that was before I was as faithful to the Emperor as I am now. Every time I look into a mirror, these bionic eyes say "why?".

Thunder hammer or Paragon bladr for my Warsmith? I've already got a servo arm, should I keep the blade for high initiative stuff or what?

>/hhg/ memes

Rules-wise I'd go paragon for init, the servo-arm still gives you a high-str smack. Fluff wise I think hammer is more appropriate

I am no apothecary, but in my honest medical opinion? This nigga dead as dead can be dead.

...

What was the original text anyway? I'm curious.

>This nigga dead as dead can be dead.
Nobody is deader than Horus. For everything else, there's the Sarcosan wave.

I really like that too - at first it's all
>See the POWER of Chaos, see what the dark gods can do for your warriors!

But once the legion's on board with it the new possessed are just any old demons

Nah, Horus is deader than dead as dead can be dead. That's quadruple death there.

To be fair, Horus is the deadest primarch in the setting, and even he got a clone of his body.

For everyone else
>Sanguinius
Next most dead after Horus, but there's some speculation over what the Sanguinator is
>Dorn
Ambiguously dead, probably missing hands in any case. May or may not have died stopping a black crusade and been preserved in amber
>Ferus
Pretty damn dead, but his body is rumoured to be on Mars, and if any legion could use tech to resurrect their primarch it'd be the Iron Hands. Keys of Hel and all that.
>Vulkan
Perpetual, so any death he's suffered is likely trivial and non-permanent

Yeah, I think Alpharius is dead, but I think rumours of him being alive will continue to circulate.
The fact that Omegon still lives will only make that worse as he gets seen places

>Dorn
>Ambiguously dead

Whats ambiguous isnt that he's dead but rather what happened to his body, its either they have the entire body missing its hands or have only the hands. Its weird shit thats been retconned back and forth for a couple of editions now.

just curious, but how do people run WB anyways?

Wasn't it retconned yet again by Vulkan in the Beast series, set in M32?

yep, it's going to be shit

Vulkan says he will tell Dorn that he should be proud of his son Koorland when he sees him again.

Maybe he knows he is alive or he has faith that Dorn survived.

he stands in kokutso-dachi, of course his legs seem to be small, especially with this effing armour behind his heaad

Um, me too.
Cmon, chaos gods, you will get two souls for one book.

Also, not having head can make you pretty dead. Curze knows that best.

My Kharybdis came today. I thought I was prepared. I was wrong. It's so massive. I didn't realize just how fucking huge this thing is. Luckily there aren't that many parts to it.

I was looking there just yesterday. Thanks user, you are my #1 nigga for today.

now the question is who's saying that line
and yeah possessed vary over time
>HEY CENTURION HOW'S IT GOING, thank for putting the Gellar field down, now let me show you how they make men into women in my country, because I need to show how fucking awesome we daemons COUGH angels are

>so let's anoint your body with holy oils, make you fast for 40 days and 40 nights, and then of the thousand that apply you win, Vharka Jal

>LOL RANDOM, you wanted power so I'll show you true power, see I gave you an extra horn, isn't that awesome, possessed

I know word bearers have almost he most unique units, but I really wish forgeworld had made it, base unit possessed, upgrade vharka jal, double your points upgrade gal vorbak. and in campaign games you cannot be anachronistic

Bumping this.
Is it with a hammer or two backed up by massed despoilers, or hordes of daemons? Because the LA rule seems pretty weak.

I dont play WB but I think it depends on what you want, you get access to tons of warp charges, potentially all your HQs being able to boost your guys, bosting your guys via dark channeling and demon allies that can deep strike, give you more warp charges and/or bodies. You got tools, make them work.

none, invest in iron halo and digi lasers. then you have 6 attacks without charge that should insta kill the others with your mighty clamps

1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000/Tactics/Space_Marine_Legion_List_(30k)#XVII_Legion:_Word_Bearers

So what did you guys get up to today, I tidied up my hobby space and found my b@c heroes package from ebay that was delivered 2 weeks ago.

Also, is the combi melta on the b@c centurion compatible with the combi bolters on the b@c terminators, ie can you make the captain with a combi boter instead of a combi melta with just glue

Yes

>None
But doesn't "a model equipped with a servo-arm may make an additional single attack per turn as well as any they would normally be elligible to make. This is done using what is pretty much a power fist profile" mean the Warsmith would have his normal chainsword attacks plus a servo-arm slap?

Otherwise it would simply say "the model gains +1 attack using the powerfist profile" rather than "additional SINGLE attack".

I could have sworn the wording was you could take your normal attacks and then a servo arm attack
OR
you could use the servo arm for all attacks

if only the former is true then get iron halo, thunder hammer and paragon blade
+1 attack for specialist weapon, so you can decide if you want to one hit them and risk it, or be safe and get at least 1 wound off

Who out shoot mechanicum and their various robots?

I have to ask: are there any Dark Angels players here ? Or at least people who play against them ? Because I have to ask, what do you/they use ?

I'm a 40k DA player and I have to admit, I don't get Dark Angels in HH. I mean, I get their Ravenwing - thanks to amount swords and close combat the swords can get some use and T5 helps against Covenant of Death but outside that their rules just don't seem mesh well ?

Ironwing gets a limited amount of tanks, 3 heavy slots and beyond that some Rhino and Land Raider dedicated transports - do you take anything beyond a HQ with a transport, fill up the 3 heavy slots and the two Tactical squads in Rhinos ?

iron warriors outshell them
death guard out fire them

marines with squadrons of vehicles and maxed out rapier batteries, cults and solar auxilia also outgun them.

Or, more likely he's saying it knowing that he's going to die and is referring to Dorn in an, "I'll tell great-grandpa you said hi." kind of way.

Most probably. RIP.

Silonius has come to.

Probably worth saying, they may be getting more stuff at some point. They have six wings in the fluff, and while they may or may not get that many rites of war (and I apologise if bringing this up derails the thread again) they may get something to represent each different way of waging war, like wargear or whatever. So if the two wings they have don't do it for you now, something may come along in future that you like.

If a WB primary HQ is a chaplain, does he still have to take anothe chaplain/centurion? Can the centurion be another consul?

>Pale Spear is Cron tech
>Alpharius is more machine than man
Geneviève is a beep boop! He landed on a tomb world, tried his hand at being Lara Croft, and ended up becoming partially a beep boop!

Yeah, it could be a big deal... if we knew more about the Alpha Legion was up to. BL has written so little about their inner workings that they can still make up whatever they want.

We know both twins started to feel like they were being manipulated by the Cabal. Omegon appears to have decided that he doesn't believe them at all (I could easily be wrong) and that he should help the loyalists (e.g. making sure the White Scars received Dorn's war report and orders to return to Terra). Alpharius... based on his few words to Dorn in this book, it sounds like he still believes that helping Horus win will lead to the Emperor achieving his goal of eliminating Chaos.

Omegon knows his legion is too distrusted to be able to just switch sides. Horus doesn't trust them too much, either. So he'll have to play it safe. But this might be why the Alpha Legion isn't known to have had a major presence at the Siege of Terra. (Or it could be that they're saving their strength to be one of the larger legions left after it's all over.)

I won't scatter your cortices to the heartless void. I will always be with you. Ride the Ironfire with me. I won't see you end as Mhara Gal. You're all iron... We are Beep Boops.

An iron light to our brother legionaries, even in death...

The WB need two HQ, and one of them must be a Chaplain or Centurion.
This means you can bring a Delegatus and a regular Centurion if you wish, for example.
