Custom Army Thread

Tell us about your armies!

Continued from The thing that makes the Havertell Armoured distinct from just the Forge World's Skitarii is that they are often deployed off-world to protect or reclaim other forge worlds. They are famed for their ability to manuever vehicles in cramped and urban environments, and excel at fighting Orks and minor xenos threats. Due to the light armour of their preferred vehicles, they tend to fare poorly against specialised anti-armour forces such as Havoc marines or Eldar grav-tanks.

On their home planet the Havertell Armoured are constantly besieged by Orks from a nearby clan, known as the Cunnin' Boltz. (More to come)

my marines are green with black inner shoulderpads. they were supposed to be sons of medusa because they looked cool but i didn't want to paint white. so they were a custom army but i could also play them as salamanders and dark angels when those were overpowered. now they're sons of medusa again because of the iron hands trait

Are those other threads archived?

My China marines.
I got a bit carried away when I started fluffing their homeworld I think.

Archiving request now! Keep the shit rolling.

Change it to "Kunnin'"

...of course. Whoops.

Got more on those Orks coming after lunch.

Nice, user! I'll review properly later.

Do you guys want me to repost my Nurgle Renegade fluff from last thread? Just to get this thread rolling?

How compatible are they with Hua Yuan?

>Havertell Basically play like Guardsmen with Skitarii as allies.
>Run some Guardsmen with Skitarii models and vice-versa. Mix units and use colour schemes or bases to distinguish.
>Avoid running heavy vehicles. Havertell's about manuverability. If the table is open enough for a Baneblade, then don't play this army.
> Probably not viable desu but I like the look.

The colour scheme for the Havertell armoured is charcoal grey, crimson, and the occasional flash of Mars red.

Do it!

Doing it!

The renegade army "Bartow's Blight Brigade" hails from the Agri world Akrabam, that lies in the Vallis sector, Supplex Sub-Sector to be precise. Akrabam itself was a relative peaceful planet with only a single hive city (the captial) and many smaller towns and cities scattered across the planet. The planet was in an era of peace and growth until the Governor became a bit too greedy and raised the taxes and tithe to such extreme lengths that the people rose up against him. And during this time a former Imperial Guard general Bartow West rallied the people and went against the Govenor and his lackeys. During this time Bartow and was approached by a coven of rouge psykers that had hidden from the black ships. They promised to use their powers in exchange for freedom of prosecution and death.
Bartow agreed, not knowing what a coven of untrained psykers could do. For several months the war raged on and bartow and his army finaly had started to seige the captial. But during this time almost the entire army, including Bartow himself has been exposed to the raw powers of the warp. And slowly this had turned them away from their original goal. Subtle messages from Nurgle had began to manifest themselves when the large amount of decaying bodies started to rot.
Now the planet has been overrun and a last small bastion of Arbites and PDF forces are still holding the spaceport while waiting for reinforcements that may never come.

Thanks, there was a lot of good stuff in those other threads that I will steal mercilessly.

Orks on the way!

The Ork clan known as the Kunnin Bolts descend from a Waaagh that blundered past the Agri-world of Havertell Beta. A binary planet that shared the fertile soil of Forge world Havertell (Alpha), the initial colonists were barely beginning to set up before millions of orks fell from orbit on top of their heads.

The Imperial Guard forces sent to liberate the planet were soundly defeated, suffering close to 40% casualties. Hundreds of disabled vehicles were abandoned to the orks, and their skilled Mekboys began the process of making them more killy.

The vehicles taken included

- A BANEBLADE super heavy tank. Now christened the "Killchoppa"
- Leman Russ MBTs
- Onager Dunestriders
- Chimera transports
- Hellhounds and Devil Dogs
- Two Gorgon assault transports

The skilled Mekboys, through a combination of reverse-engineering and dumb luck, managed to replicate many of the functions of these vehicles with available Ork technology and the result is something to be feared- a surprisingly disciplined (by Ork standards) armoured force, specialising in vehicle and anti-vehicle operations. The flamer and chainsword wielding Astartes forces sent to reclaim Havertell Beta were anihillated by Orks with multi-meltas.

Feel free to vote on Suptg if you liked the old thread.

The Mechanicus vetoed Exterminatus of Havertell Beta, as the resulting gravity shifts would cause terrible harm to the forge on Havertell Alpha. The Orks on Beta, enjoying their new permanent refuge, named their new clan the Kunnin Boltz.

They frequently skirmish with Imperium forces on Havertell Alpha but neither side has had much luck in destroying the other. The Boltz, unfortunately, have attained a wealth of Skitarii weaponry through these engagements.

Emperor protect the Astartes who comes face to face with ork Nobs wielding Galvanic Rifles.

Is it just the one thread up?

I only knew about 1.

Salamanders offshoot that focuses on civilian protection. They'll burn your home down to save your life, but they'll stick around to rebuild it afterwards.

No idea what I want to call them though.

Link to mythical connotations of Salamanders somehow.

Phoenix Somethings?

Not much imo. Reading the two of them, Hua Yuan seems to be based more on present day, overcrowded hustle and bustle China while the Obsidian Angels are definitely based on pre-western imperialism stagnant Confucian china.

The rest are in the OP, no?

Oh neat! I'll give them a read.

Any critique on Hua Yuan? Planet or Regiments?

...

No offense dude, it's great to see people still interested in the Hua Yuan - I actually helped a bit there - but no need to keep pushing it. Last I saw, just about everything about them had been pretty well done and fleshed out, ready for play.

...

Here's some random ramblings about my Alpha Legion Warband. I know, I know, I can hear your groans from here, I'm sorry.

>Call themselves the Lernaean Brotherhood.

>Decedents from one of the splinters of the Alpha Legion after the death of Horus.

>Officially non-worshipers of Chaos, but minor Tzeentch cults have been detected and destroyed on more than one occasion.

>Lead an Ork Waaagh to a minor system controlled by a loyalist chapter (another one of my homebrews), The Stormborne Knights, which nearly annihilated the Chapter. After the Orks were stopped and the Chapter had just collected all survivors and begun to rebuild, the Brotherhood annihilates them to a man.

>The Lernaean's then replace the loyalists members with some of their own and report the battle as a minor skirmish and clean victory, then proceed to rebuild the Chapter with tithed Imperial supplies.

>To keep up appearances, the Brotherhood has to grow Ultramarine geneseed in secret to provide their tithe to the Ad Mech.

Do you desire to know more?

Imperial militia that's made up 1/3rd protesters against it that joined once astarties showed up 1/3 returning kreig vets now standing g at ease looking like nurglr zombies and 1 3rd chaos I mean "PDF force" renegades airmed with galvanic rifles they where isdued but only supplied with stub and auto rounds. The galvonic rifles drum is apble to be replaced with a laz compressor but the local forge world is waiting to see if this army made up of rioters for change . bloodlusting PDFers and returned bits that might have seen too much puss are really true to what they claim to be. Thinking of having a fourth section of pink literal rat ling men and ogers and abhukans but slaneesh I mean imperial dicree might not allow it as I'm considering a taurox school bus full of 15 year old SOB trainees with helmets on and the body's of lord of the rings. If you know what I mean -_+

So do they train new marines that think they're loyalists?

That's links to what my writing was responding to. I've got a couple more custom armies and settings in the old thread.

If some one could help fluff this out that be nice. Basically aiming for a haunted by chaos theam or chaos in the mirror theam I'm considering all my imperium forces that are non SM to match this theam so it will effect skitatii and admech and mechanics (I'm using thalax as necrons BTW and merging necrons into this theamed army too. The general idea is you can't tell if they are fighting chaos and its effecting then or if they always where from the start letting me run all gaurds admech and necron lists and possibly future chaos cultists or heretek (dark mechankcum lists) I'm just working on 3 60 man blobs for the three gods I mean divisions and have about 6 ogrin for the slaneesh but not going to bother with that section untill I know I can hit at least 30big guys or I figure out a cracker way to do subtle slanesh I think abhumans about it. I think I'll prob pick up the solar and gw ogrin eventually but only to make the special character and thous loin cloths and also just to measure what I should make slab sheilds out of for the rest. Which I think is what I'm equuping them with and because its a riot and sorta returning troops protest theamed force I'm hoping nectonunda will have stuff for my pink section n perhaps I should make seethru resin slab shields myself for that riot factor. Still not sure what I'd use for scions or grenadiers think on going to wait and just use a little of scion carapace ... Also I think with

No, but they don't exactly lead with "BTW, we're heretics." They are exposed to a double dose of Alpha Legion indoctrination due to the stakes.

If you're not entirely psychologically compatible, you (and the rest of your squad due to Alpha Legion group pass/fail recruitment) get turned into a servitor, or locked down in the basement to grow some geneseed.

Obviously, recruitment is quite slow, but it's an improvement on what they could swing before.

As a side note, to help supplement their numbers, if you were psychologically compatible but not physically, you'd likely be shoved into a human auxiliary detachment and made to be a Stormtrooper/Scion equivalent.

I think scions and grenadiers and stormtroopers gw wants to be their own army I wouldn't be surprised if the updated assault kreig list will only use grenaders and follow some structure of what the next militarum tempust book so maybe I shouldn't bother with stormtroopers scions and genaders and keep them for another army. One kool thing I'm doing thou is if I do run them as solar there's actualy a solar list that let's you have 32 defense lines or some thing VSO I'm thinking of getting bunch of wall of martyers and cutting them up and making the non defensive side look like a parade barricade and the other like the death trap it is so I have heaps of track to lay our some cool theamed terrain for that list that seems totally broken but cool building a zonevmortalis table as your deployment is the ultimate all comers list. But yer I'm not sure what I'd use as scions or grenadiers for this army. Thinking about just skipping that until they wright a book that makes that viable. Obviously kreig tf2 style scions are the best but if there isn't a way to rub them beside that crazy solar aux wall list what's the point. I really think militarum tempestus is its own tab for a reason I think we have had the last guard codex ever. Its all gears of war and subtle necromunda riot police ogrin from here on out. ORKS AND IG are basically whfb army's in size I think they won't update them. Just let FW take the old ork style codex and let fw take the old IG style codex and do a totally new space ork faction I'm thinking eldar might get this treatment too. Like every one was so excited the speed we where getting releases but what if the reason its called craftworlds and not eldar is its just some thing to stimulate the hobby. I think codex eldarie is still on the way and will have DE listed as a theam list or formation and not its own codex because gw is relisong allies made getting ready to play too complicated and these formations solve everything. New style generic eldar plastic.

Here's a bad picture, but my lighting is too awful to get a better one.

>heavy industrial world
>cold
>machine god fags
>every guardsmen build his own rifle, while the tank crew is taken from the workers who build said tank
>mechanized fags
>need moar floof

I've done a bunch of armies but my main one are my marines the Iron Crows. Still working out the fluff for them but they are an offshoot of the salamanders in the sense of being close to their homeworld and it's people. Main tactics include employing plasma and flame technology due to their reverence for their sun. Recently fought a civil war with a splinter group of renegade astartes known as the Steel Slayers after they tried to revert the homeworld back to it's brutal and corrupted society. Help with fluff and questions would be appreciated I love making stories in the 40k universe.

Sanguine Counts (name is still a WiP so too is the color scheme)

>Blood angel descendant chapter
>From a feral night world called morath
>Chapter excels in terror tactics and close combat
>Blood angels with vampire trope ratcheted up to 10
>Death company is renamed as the lost
>Sanguinary guard relabeled as blood guard or counts guard
>Marines drink the blood of the strongest enemies after the battle is done an accomplished thinking it will feed the thirst
>Chapter master named abhorash the red.

I'm gonna need some more fluff phampai, these guys sound way more interesting than the Sanguine Shields

My Tau are painted in this style. Fire Warriors are pic related, while fast attack/elites are swapped colors. So lenses are orange and tron lines are blue. Here's the fluff:

The T'ron Environmental Research Expedition is tasked with researching, developing, deploying, and recording the results of experimental terraforming and planetary manipulation methods. Such difficult and tedious science would be nigh impossible when the entire galaxy is at war. In a moment of sudden clarity, Aun'ke, the Ethereal overseer of the expedition realized the perfect place to practice these experiments was none other than the dead husk-worlds that littered the previously full-of-life Zone of Silence.
These barren planets worked to the benefit of the expedition as they were completely blank slates, devoid of life or any otherwise interfering forces of nature. They could quite literally shape the landscape, create entire ecosystems, reintroduce life to the world and then restart their projects all over again as much as they pleased. One day these worlds would be teeming with never before seen life forms and the next they could be reduced to a smoldering rock for any reason. They could play God on these worlds and that made them the perfect place to further fuel the Empire's massive leaps in environmental technology.

continued below

2/2
That's not to say that the worlds weren't also used for other top secret experiments. The development of the revolutionary KV128 Stormsurge had a brief stay on one of these worlds, taking aim with early versions of its Pulse Driver Cannon at the massive "Diamondhides", gargantuan creatures who's namesake comes from their extremely tough hide. Suffice to say, after the Stormsurge's stay, the planet was re-originated after being evacuated as the Diamondhides were terrorizing research outposts at increasing rates and there was not much that could bring them down.
Occasionally forces from the expedition venture outside of the Zone of Silence to other worlds ripe for deployment of these new measures accompanied by the T'ron Expedition Defense Cadre, the military arm of the Research Expedtion led by Shas'O Au'Taal Galai, also known as "Northwind". Calm in strategy and ruthless in battle, he leads his Cadre in eliminating any opposition to the Tau's arrival and subsequent acquisition of the world.
TL;DR: Tau EPA sub-organization works with questionable ethics on planets experimenting with stuff most people will never know about and only see the results of.

Well user I made em' up I can tell you more about them if you want.

Orange as fuck.

ded thread.

Really don't get it. Love the idea of "my dudes" it's awesome that people get invested in a hobby like this.

It's gotten a bit of a bad rep. People don't share their homebrews because people will think they're snowflakey. And to be frank, sometimes some ideas are shit.

My spehssul chapter Is the "Primarchs guard" color is Gold with pink trims
They are chapter of marines who are given geneseed of one primarch and are raised in another chapter (originally the founding legions but has changed since then). Originally the brainchild of the Lion, Horus and the emperor to bring a group of astartes that have the know how of each legion to shore up the weakness of another legion that they are currently deployed. They serve under a specific original founding chapter or similar chapter for periods of 25 years where they are then sent to another chapter to train and learn. They are a limited task force who have to borrow marines from other chapters because the inquisition has dubbed their geneseed unsafe due to the fact that they, and their geneseed, were in stasis for 9000 years and have had astartes succumb to chaos. They were kept in stasis in a special DAoT ship that kept the conscious of the one in stasis active and had simulations run on them until they were to awaken. The marines that awoke had 9000 years of combat experience against the likes of daemons, Eldar, orks and other minor xenos races, making them quite skilled at combating them but weaker in regards to newer threats like the tyranids. The chapter master is one of the best fighters and strategists in the galaxy, this is due to the fact he has been personally trained by all the primarchs and the emperor himself to a degree. In truth he's actually a custodes with the geneseed of the Lion mixed in by the emperor. He was the last of his custode/primarch kind when he awoke his fellow captains (the captains had the custode/primarch geneseed while others were regular astartes) and they had all vowed to avenge Horus, the arch traitor. The chapter has gained many enemies and few friends. Truly their only ally is the Astartes chapters and several systems they have liberated from various threats.
I could go on but I'll stop...

Those conservators were alright until the OP took them to daft extremes with the explosive arrows supplementing bolters and aircraft being rocks with magic rods hammered into them.

Fucking pardon me?

Haven't quite put together a lot for them yet, but my Skitarii and eventually admech come from a water forgeworld, and they represent this with sky blue robes. Their metal is made with more chromium and nickel to counteract the corrosive nature of the sea salted air, which is polished and oiled thoroughly, giving their augmentations a bright reflective sheen. The forgeworld conducts deep sea mining operations and uses large floating oil rig like manufactorums to produce their war machines.

Also specializes in amphibious transport craft for the Imperial Guard.

The Nomad Armada is a bloated explorator fleet born from the remenants of the forge world 'Migh-Oze 2923' that was lost to the warp in M38.

When formed, it's forces were constituted of the Ark Mechanicus of the Fabricator Locum who lead the exodus and a fleet of half hollowed out vessels stuffed with everything the Lucum could tear off the planet before it was consumed by the Immaterium. The prizes he claimed included sizable armies of Migh-Oze's skitarii and battle automata, half of a Knight House and enough of the internals of various manufactorums to allow the fleet to become almost entirely self-sufficient in all regards but raw material. The Fabricator General was however not saved by his fleeing underling, due to a disagreement on the Locum's plan of 'cutting losses and burning the rest'.

In the following 3000 years, the Nomad Armada has grown to a size that could rival all that Migh-Oze 2923 once commanded, with it's own Myrmidon and electro priest cults, Ordo Reductor elements and the almost absolute loyalty of chapter of the Adeptus Astartes the Iron Luminaries, if anybody remembers them from threads like this a few months ago.

I could go on for a while about this shit, so if anybody is interested in any parts of this eg, more detailed early history, persons of interest, specific groups, later events and well as all the fluff associated with the Iron Luminaries, then feel free to ask about it. If not then that's it for the short version of muh speshul snowflake homebrew.

I'm always interested to hear more about other people's home brews, yours doesn't sound super autistic. Or at least not as autistic as mine right here

>Stone Gargoyles
Founded to protect an area of Shrine Worlds nestled in a stable "bay" at the edge of a nebula after the former chapter protecting that area went traitor.

Codex Compliant, but one of their unique strategies, playing to their Ambush specialization, is having the Shrine World construct a number of Space Marine statues and empty plinths in important areas. Their armor coloration mimics that of statues already, so they simply stand stock still or posed and start attacking in unison when their enemies least expect it.

>Solar Seraphs
A chapter who claims second founding origins, but whose records cannot be found, they claim to have had a long and illustrious history as one of the spearheads of the crusade into the Jericho Reach. Favoring siege warfare, they won numerous accolades and honors for their service, earning a lush world as the seat of their power for several thousand years, as well as a close relationship with the Deathwatch.

In M34, during the fall of the Jericho Reach, their homeworld was destroyed while all but one company was deployed, the once lush world reduced to barren desert along with their history and innumerable relics. They became a fleet-based chapter and decided they would never get bogged down in combat again. Now they favor lighting strikes and fight to reclaim their former glory, though they've never lost their affinity for swordsmanship.

Of course they have a tendency towards boastfulness, and stubbornly stick by their second founding claims, despite the lack of records and their inability to identify their Primarch or progenitors. They have continued to maintain a tight relationship with the Deathwatch, however, and have 12-36 marines seconded to them at all times.

My Admech forces hail from the fallen Forge World of Sarum, now Dark Mechanicus. During the Harsh War, a loyalist force of Skitarii with Servitor support was shot down by orbital defense batteries. However, when the heretek scouting force investigated the crash site, the inhabitants were long gone. Ever since, led by the Magos Militant London Gallo, they have led a subtle resistance to the heretek occupation, knowing that they have no hope of success. But every few months, a demon-forge is destroyed, a manufactory crippled by strange men in battered robes, and on the wall is daubed the blue and red symbol of the London Underground.

..... I go too far for puns.

During the BADAB war, dammit. My autocorrect machine spirit needs appeasing.

I'm the OP of the conservators, none of that was my idea, so dunno what else to say, that was all someone else's idea. Not to say I have a problem with it just certainly wasn't my idea.

And to my knowledge there were no aircraft that were rocks with magic rods in them, there was one idea for the hollowed out husk of a destroyed thunderhawk that was levitating by a few psykers meditating really really hard though.

Guys, if you want to help in the fluff part of a new regiment then feel free to join in

I like it, please do go on.

Alright then, since there's a bit of demand, let's go into some of the more interesting characters.

>The Lord-Archmagos Explorator Intendant Sigma
The self-given title of the former Fabricator Locum and the ever observant head of the Nomad Armada for 3 millennia. His age is a testament to the technologies he has claimed, not only from Migh-Oze, but from the innumerable worlds his fleet has picked over. For a time many within the fleet had thought what little of him that remained was bound to the bridge of Ark Mechanicus that stands as the Armada’s Flagship, yet as of the 41st millennium, he has proven such ideas false by personally taking part in certain key battles. Though he himself appears little more than a diminutive mess of mechanical limbs and sensors, he is fused to a hulking insectile abeyant allows him to still be a highly dangerous combatant, if not a subtle one.

>Orphanos Rex
The Knight Baron who would side with the Fabricator Locum and lead half of his house against those loyal his Princeps and intern loyal to the Fabricator General, as well as the only survivor from Migh-Ose besides the Explorator Intendant. After turning against his house, overseeing the virus bombing of his home world and leading the final mission of reclamation across the forge’s dead husk, he changed both his and his Knight Atrapos’ name to Orphanos Rex; he vowed that he would be as one with his knight until he had atoned for his sins. Only he knows at what point his atonement can be considered complete, though after 3000 years of leading the remnants of his house, he clearly still isn’t done yet. Most believe his age to be a result of the same technology as used by the Explorator Intendant, though a story circulating the fleet claims he is naught but a mummified corpse in his Knight, yet his will was great enough that it has imprinted itself though the Throne Mechanicum onto the knight, with his spirit truly becoming one with the Knight’s own. Such stories are of course nothing but baseless and heretical hypothesis.

>Lord-Archmagos Cleric Ulysses Wyatt
From Myrmidon to Magos Reductor to travelling preacher to Explorator lord, the five century old priest has seen more of the depths of space than most Rogue Traders and more of the inner workings of the Mechanicus than most Fabricator Generals. Gifted with a charisma so rare within the reclusive and esoteric orders of the Tech Priests, his teachings have gone as far as to unite corpuscari and fulgurite electro priests. When his path crossed with the Nomad Armada, he already had a sizable following of those who had found a higher faith in the Cult Mechanicus though Ulysses’ philosophies. Perhaps it was that the Explorator Intendant felt the same, for he gave traveller command of an Emperor Class Battleship and a position on the ruling triumvirate. In his two hundred years of service to the Nomad Armada, his teachings have become the official line on the specific beliefs of the Cult Mechanicus within the fleet.

>Lord-Archmagos Dominus Conrad Decius
At less than a century old, Conrad is by far the youngest of the triumvirate of ruling priests made up of Sigma, Ulysses and himself and unlike his peers he is not the first to hold his particular position. However, despite his relative youth, cavalier attitude and neurotic tendencies, he was personally singled out for the position by the Explorator Intendant over more senior and level headed alternatives. Many priests believe that Sigma sees some of his younger self in Conrad and that knowing he has little life left before the time his arcane technologies fail him, wants to put Decius in the position to become his successor. Regardless of the political machinations that put him in his position, Conrad has proven a highly effective tactician warlord, with his aggressive and mercilessly efficient style of leadership.

And now I need to sleep.
If the thread doesn't die and I'm not booed out of here overnight, then I'll see about posting some more tomorrow, since putting it up here is a good excuse for me to actually write down the fluff in my head.

>actually right it down in your head
Fuck I've actually written almost complete novels about my spehssul snowflakes

[+++SUBJECT: NIGHT RAVENS ASTARTES+++]
Founding Chapter: Raven Guard
Founding: 23rd Founding
Chapter Master: [DATA CORRUPTED, CONTACT ADEPTUS MECHANICUS]
Homeworld: Draxxus
Fortress Monastery: Drakkenpurge
Colours: Black with brass underarmour and purple shoulderpads.
Specialty: Surgical Strikes and Assassination
Strength: Unknown
Battle Cry: Sit noctem cadent (Let the night fall)

This is all I've come up with thus far. I posted in one of the previous threads, but I can't find that anymore. There's more on the system they inhabit than the chapter itself rattling around my head, though. If anybody is interested I suppose I could be bothered to write that stuff down too.

Sure let's hear it. I might start writing out some more of my guys fluff as well. Always like hearing about new homebrews

[+++SUBJECT: NIGHT RAVENS HOMEWORLD+++]
Name: Draxxus
Segmentum: Segmentum Tempestus
Sector: Goliath Sector
Subsector: Stygian Nebula Cluster
System: Tendrakk System
Population: 500,000
Class: Death World - Penal World - Adeptus Astartes Homeworld
Tithe Grade: Aptus Non

Formerly the homeworld of the Drakken species of Xenos prior to their extinction at the hands of the Night Ravens during the Goliath Crusade, Draxxus is a mid-sized moon orbiting the gas giant Tendrakk VI. It is home to the Fortress Monastery of the Night Ravens Astartes chapter, Drakkenpurge. Declared a Penal World shortly after its conquest, the Night Ravens recruit from the barbaric descendants of the first criminals sent to the moon.

Draxxus is home to a variety of Megafauna, including a large serpentine reptile that resembles great monsters from Terra's ancient mythology. The natives have been forced to rely upon stealth and ambushes to survive, living in dark places and crevices in the crags and mountains. Every four years those who have managed to slay one of the megafauna native to Draxxus make a pilgrimage to Mount Purge's southern slope, upon which the ruins of the Drakken Holy City sit. Here they compete in a series of vicious trials, and those who manage to emerge victorious are taken by the Black-clad Angels of the Emperor to the citadel of Drakkenpurge, at the mountain's peak.

Writing more about them because fuck you guys I can do what I want.

The chapter is currently declared "renegade" but only about half the inquisition actually adhere to this because the chapter has been such a great boon to the imperium since it's awakening in late M.39. The largest reason for this is that the chapter master (named Temperan) comes from the time of great crusade where he traveled with the emperor and the primarchs. He has refused the imperial cult and is steadfast that the emperor is but a man, a powerful man, but a man nonetheless. Several systems have been brought back into the imperium because of the bravery and cunning of the chapter (of course most of the man power was provided by other chapters) and this has proven them to be valuable allies.

At first when they were awoken they were tolerated because Temperan gave the inquisition a data slate that was key to unlocking their records in imperial databases (though it's highly ambiguous and unclear). This acceptance was washed over when the 27 marines who were out of stasis for 500 years denied the imperial cult in front of the Highlords of terra. This caused the inquisition to declare them renegades and called for their immediate extermination. After chasing the the qntire minotaur chapter adeptus astartes and a massive inquisition fleet. It was then then that Temperan revealed his true strategic genius. His DAoT fortress monastery appeared to be an old carrier of sorts meant to help refuel old cargo ships. The cargo ships happened to have unrivaled stealth capabilities presumably to slip past pirates. With1hole and unloading the imperial knight "Dracus the endurer". Temperan then revealed that during he chaos, the elite death wing had infiltrated their ship and had placed detonators all over the ship. With similar incidents happening across the entire fleet with help from the Dark angels space marine chapter, the minotaurs agreed to retreat as opposed to having their entire chapter destroyed from the inside out. With lord commander Dante and Supreme grand master Azrael both asking the Highlord to reconsider their options, the Highlord had no choice but to temporarily halt their execution to stop another civil war from breaking out.

Big Mek Boomsprocket was a relatively small name mek in a relatively small name warband, who stumbled across some interesting information while invading an inquisition hideout-moon. He discovered perhaps the most tech-filled planet in the universe, with a roight proppa scrap to be had also.

As he grew in both size and respect, he goaded the boss on to invade more and more esoteric worlds, allowing him to collect technology and copies of SCTs that would allow him to research medical sciences and "xeno"biology to start on one of his most ambitious projects:

The Megaboss

A towering hunk of green flesh and muscle, this being is more fungus than ork, a fact hidden by the impressive armor Boomsprocket built for this titan of bioengineering. After construction (and subsequent burning, and a second construction WITH the controller and off switch), he was able to overthrow the warboss with his own creation.

Under the heavy armor and mask, not one ork could tell the difference from the megaboss and a particularly big and stompy warboss. Thus, Boomsprocket's plan began - Invade worlds, strip them of resources, build a machine to loot mars, and If anyone has any other idead, they can file to "da komplaints kompartment"*

*a hungry megaboss

Shown: A battlewagon made out of a charred out shell that was repaired, one of the many reclaimed wrecks from the battle of Boomsprocket's coup.

Honestly surprised this isn't already a thing

Hey, I actually made a thread that didn't fall off the board within a day!

On one hand, I feel like "dream warriors" and "pragmatic friendly tech heretics" and "longbows are better than bolters" feel a little bit out of place.

Then again the official gameline has

- Incorruptible Pure Pureness Psyker marines
- Closet heretics with xenos retainers
- All crusade all the time
- Tormented vampires
- Everybody gets a dog

So I mean it isn't really out of place, is it?

There's an army of Paladins in my setting that doesn't have a name yet, but I like 'em a lot.

I could tell you how their highest ranking members lead their soldiers into battle through song, but any Paladin worth their salt shepherds their flock like a beacon in the night.

I could tell you of the phenomenon specific to them: that as their numbers die around them, the surviving get stronger, which has caused many to accuse them of unsavory necromancy. But they always reply in the same fashion, "Mjrn grieves as she becomes a widow once more", but that is quite grim and quite boring.

And I suppose I could tell you that their ranks are almost always dispersed and traveling on their own, hunting down the last surviving dragons. But that's an odd subject because, according to them, "there's always a dragon. If you can't see them, then I covet the world you live in."

Instead, I'll tell you the thrice-walked patterns by which a brave soul becomes a Paladin.
The first is that the prospect must be a mother. Not a woman, although they number greatly in The Mjrnal's army, but a mother. This requirement is one based on action rather than status. In the same way that a mother is nurturing to her children, so too must the Paladin cultivate hope and courage within those she protects. Her duty is to defend the downtrodden, but also teach them how to stand on their own.
The second pattern is an act of great sacrifice. Every prospect holds something dear to them, and it is their mentor's duty to convince them to relinquish it. Through charity or destruction, the means matter not. The exception to this is that the sacrifice in question must be made while wading in a river.
The third pattern is where most prospects fail in their journey: she must create an effigy of the Goddess Mjrn, patron of all Paladins, and burn it in her hands. The reason so many fail? Devotion.

And now you ask the question, "Why is it so?" To which I answer:

Walk this way.

The IG army creation thread linked to before can't be replied to, so I'm posting MY summary of that thread in here instead.

1st Larochiqus Gorgons

Hailing from a polluted Hive world, the Gorgons are an all-female elite cavalry unit.

Members specialise in urban combat and have a particular hatred for Orks, who are one of the two xenos species that survive on Larochiqus. The other species is the [Larochiqus Saurus], a metal-eating beast with reptilian and insect traits. The Gorgons train these creatures as mounts due to their thick metallic exo and endoskeletons, their deceptively quick speed, and their ability to bite through most forms of vehicle plating.

Every hive resident learns to work together against the lethal climate on Larochiqus, and even the newest recruits display excellent squad coordination. This coordination tends to fall apart on a macro level, unfortunately, due to the average recruit's unwavering and unquenchable hatred for authority figures. Most Gorgons will only accept orders from superiors they personally respect and have fought alongside.

>Decent summary?

They sound pretty interesting actually, and quite a nice, short summary. Unlike my two fucking pages of shitty description

Thank the writefag who wrote the description for the Hive world, it's damn good.

>Instead, I'll tell you

No, you just told me those things. Leave the tarted up language to those who can use it. You can't and as a result come across as a pretentious cunt.

>The first is that the prospect must be a mother

Pic oh so very unrelated.

No name as of yet for mine. These guys are my first serious attempt at a my guys army.

They were created to bolster the lines in case of another Black Crusade. At first all was well, although the chapter quickly became prideful and arrogant. Then Chaos came. Their system was assaulted by countless daemon forces. They were reduced to a mere three companies before they were rescued by the timely intervention of the Ultramarines. They stripped their armour of their chapter colours, no longer worthy to wear them. Their weapons now bear the blue colouring of the Ultramarines to honour the aid lent. They now seek to rebuild, and routinely work closely with other chapters to learn their ways of war. Now they stand at five companies, with each company on a crusade to learn new or better ways of killing the Emperor's enemies.

Scourge of Mars, lead by their former 2nd company captain Messermitt Tank, were loyalist who maintained close links to the Mechanicus of Mars. Their Marines would often join explorator fleets as guards for the Mechaninus. There close ties lead to their downfall as they were lead into heresy by a Tech Priest who duped them into believing the Inquisitor and Mechanicus forces that were hunting her were actually heretic seeking to destroy an STC. The Marines fought off the attackers losing many of their number before realizing the truth, that the tech priest they were aiding was indeed a heretic. When they attempted to rejoin the loyalists they discovered that the Inquisitor had already deemed them heretic and traitors and their Chapter was considered excommunicated. Further more the Mechanicus, having heard the order, opened fire on the Chapters ships who were not involved in the duping, leaving only the 'heretics' alive. To deepen the betrayal the Tech Priest they had fought so hard to protect attempted to use them as a sacrificial rear guard while they escaped. Betrayed by everyone Tank lead the remnants of his Chapter to slay the tech priest and use her escape plan to make it to the Eye, renaming themselves the Scourge of Mars, a promise to bring death and damnation to the Machine Cult and corrupt the forges of Mars itself.
