Horus Heresy General /hhg/

A Machine For Hydras Edition
Stargazer Sub-Edition
I am so wired right now! In the last thread we discussed Alpharius being more machine than even Ferrus and one user's problems with Horus's model, Word Bearers make wonderful building materials, BL art is still bad, Golg has some neat art, and the decimation never ends! You know the drill. Red Book Links:

I'm talking about them as a whole, don't bend my words like Fulgrim would bend...anything. Also, Phoenix terminators are very strong...too bad for them that 2W termies also exist and can both survive their charge and tear them new assholes.

Also, Phoenix Siege Terminators? Is this a part of Angel Exterminatus I missed, where the EC pull a Guilliman and copy the Tyrants?

>The term has been around longer, Al.
I was so obvious, huh.
>Be sure to thank possibly gay drum majors for sharing their grape flavored Gatorade.
???

Golg does indeed, have nice art.

Can't argue with this logic.

>Also, Phoenix Siege Terminators? Is this a part of Angel Exterminatus I missed, where the EC pull a Guilliman and copy the Tyrants?
Nah mate. I was making a joke regarding your pic related. Look at what Guilliman says.

what are you guys working on this week. I've been too lazy to go to my hobby shop to pick up dorn yellow and casandora glaze for my fists, so I've been wishlisting my next army.

Er, well to be precise I mean your pic related from that post.

Well KA, if I'm lucky I'll be able to get back to painting my Imperial Guard Start Collecting box that I got months ago.

I'm still looking to see of anyone has good scans or an ebook of the the Ciaphas Cain series. I mamaged to find a pdf of the first book, but the formatting is garbage for reading off my phone.

I'm also looking for the Let the Galaxy Burn Anthology.

>???
>be threadguy
>be a trombone player
>be a very tired trombone player
>yfw one of the drum majors was willing to share a sip of his Gatorade with you
The guy might be gay, but I'm not judging him for that.

...

Is he not wearing sleeves?

Also his Commissariat uniform is not regulation Black with red trim!

Anyways, this is the 30k general mate. I mean, feel free to ask, but I dunno?

Explain.

I don't understand the meme of Matt Damon being a time-traveling assassin.

LMAO PERPETUALS

A Machine For Hydras sounds like a pretty good name for a Chapter.

Matt

Damon

No, seriously, please explain.

I'm legitimately hoping that it's canon that Matt Damon is a time-traveling assassin from the future who took up an acting career in his spare time.

Nah, that's a Metal Band Album. Too long to be a chapter.

So... please tell me they're not gonna jack the wolf trope up to ten with the space wolves.

Also anyone know how good the priest of mars series? Thinking about buying the books.

There's an user who posted the entire series once here, but I accidently deleted my books. I'd say they're okay, probably better than I thought, but I was just busy whenever I tried reading them so I never really got around to enjoying them as much as I should have.

Will Chris Wraight write another HH novel?

Guaranteed, but probably not for a while.

Any upcoming releases for the Blood Angels? I'm interested in 30k but holding off until they get stuff.

We're getting the Celtic/Nordic motif jacked up to 11, but not much on the Wolf Front fortunately.

The Assault canons are coming.

I think his next one is supposed to be about the Space Wolves.

Could be a long while.

>blood angels

My brother.

Reposting from last thread: does chinaman have Rotor Cannons ? I'm looking through his catalogue but can't find it so I'm not sure if I'm just missing it or are they really not there.

One legion from the heresy is on the other side. Which legion would have the biggest impact on the Heresy if they fought for the others side?

Hard mode: No SoH or IF, and the Heresy would happen even if WB stayed loyal.

Iron Hands. It's even mentioned in the FW Book Massacre that with them on his side, Horus would likely have won.

Yeah, I get it now, kek.
Oh, I see. I mean, purple gatorade was very specific. Have a trumpet WB.

UM and WE, suddenly the loyalist are stuck with yet another legion that cant stay for the defense or relief the defenders as they are too busy jamming Horus' guns with their own bodies. The UM would give Horus a legion thats reliable and boosts his own tactics.

>One legion from the heresy is on the other side
Shouldn't be two legions to be fair?

>IW and IF change allegiances.
>The Galaxy is now the Galaxy of Terror
:^/

Begone with it! Trumpets are the most devious of all instruments and their players no less devious.
>very specific
When I'm tired I ramble a lot.

Iron Warriors.

Think about it.

Keep thinking now.

Perturabo could have fortified the Imperial Palace greater even than Dorn, and alongside the IW's geneseed application rate, could have built up massive garrisons in responce to traitor attacks.

Alpha Legion, especially if they still knew about it ahead of time.

It could be better as a movie/song/album/book title, but not a chapter.

pert would have sabotaged it in some way with his paranoia, and all the good iron warriors ended up flipping the traitors the bird to begin with

There's a perpetual by the name of Damon Prytanis who killed the 'good man in Memphis'.

>Begone with it! Trumpets are the most devious of all instruments and their players no less devious.
Hence why it is no surprise it is a WB the one playing it.

He would?
Also, this would mean their loyalists would become traitors.
You don't want to be there when Iron Mole man bursts out of the ground and initiates a rampage.

Pretty much any legion would have changed the outcome of the Heresy by a lot. Could you imagine if Sanguinius had fallen at Signus?

Alpha Legion goes traitor.
Traitor victory, Horus destroys humanity and Chaos with it.

This.

Pert and his Iron warriors would spend all day training and predicting how the traitor legions would attack along with fortifying the imperial palace. Also Perty would kill Dorn one on one and he wouldn't fall for an obvious trap like the Iron Cage.

A perpetual based on jason bourn killed MLK in one of the HH books.

>Chaos Imperial Fists
Only more reason for the Iron Warriors to have remained loyal.

Because man, that looks so nice.

Eh, trumpets fit the AL better.

Wait...

So Matt Damon being a time-traveling Assassin is canon?

For once, I actually like this BL meme.

So. How do I make best use of Medusan Immortals? I want to use Company of Bitter Iron and want advice on using the pesky fucks. Do I go all in 20 blobs and gear or what?

Anyone run a story campaign from the big books, or the Build Your Own campaigns like in 3, 4, and 6?

But Lionl'el Johnson gave massive siege weapons to Perturabo and the Iron warriors when they already turned traitor. If he was loyal then those weapons wouldn't have been turned on the imperial palace which could potentially shift the outcome of the Siege of Terra.

The Lion was an arms dealer, user.

That's why he was called The Lion, after all. You didn't really think that was his name, did you?

I could see it working
The IW did have the biggest artillery train and munition stores of them all, and the IF were keen on defense over offense (but they could do both).
IW defend well when they're outnumbered, and the only IF defense I can remember is the Siege of Terra itself.
Furthermore, Dantioch teleports to the enemy's ship when his fortress was being overwhelmed, just like the Loyalists did at the very end. Only that Horus wasn't on it, so Dantioch actually wins and steals the ship while eveybody is drowning in magma.

Could work, could work.

Forgot my image. Just as planned.

That's something a trumpet player would do. Can't trust those lot. There's always a lot of them. Just like flute players.
Tuba players are more Iron Warrior like.

decimation

Iron Warriors would either be Marching Drum, or Bugle because Muh Great War in Spess Legion!

So far the Perpetuals include

Matt Damon
One of the Argonauts
Someone outta Chinese mythology
Cheriadine Zakalwe from the Culture books

>Perturabo baits Horus into making planetfall with the entirety of his orbital reserve right into the Iron Cage MKII

They're either the snare or bass drum.

What are mechanicum weak to? They're so god damn big, do we just drown them in bolters or what even?

Windows 98.

Nothing. They have mini-dreadnoughts with jet packs and lightning guns, user. Mini. Dreadnoughts.

T5 W3 BABY! Your flesh is weak!

>Emperor's Children
Not marching band instruments but they are violinists or cello players.

>>Perturabo baits Horus into making planetfall with the entirety of his orbital reserve right into the Iron Cage MKII

>The Dark Gods ascend Perturabo to Deamonic Princehood even though he's loyal, out of the sheer butt raping inflicted on the traitors, who couldn't rely on Guilliman to bail them out.

But still, think about this. How about the WS had gone traitor while Terra was reinforced by both the IW and the IF??

So medusas out the ass? Phosphex?

Jet Pack Infantry that can Deep Strike or Skyfire, or wreck in melee. And FnP(6+)

The WE's chainaxe attacks ignore Thallax's 4+ save and wound them on a 4+. A traitor Assault squad would kill a Thallax squad on a single turn. Not Sweep them, but obliterate them.

And that's not even running a RoW.

Oh, and they're also vulnerable to Heavy bolters....unless they're the IW's Shrapnel bolts...

he's not time traveling, Perpetuals are immortal humans

Specifically a traitor assault squad?

>The WE's chainaxe attacks ignore Thallax's 4+ save and wound them on a 4+. A traitor Assault squad would kill a Thallax squad on a single turn. Not Sweep them, but obliterate them.
And a Thallax's single Phased Plasma Fusil would slay at least three marines before they got in melee range.

Plus, don't Jet Pack infantry have some sort of bonus towards melee, or am I hungry?

plz no talk trash of my cyborg waifus

Same difference, user.

They gain Rage. Loyalists gain Rage only after they get their teeth kicked in and pass the morale reroll. Do notice Loyalists gain Rage while in combat, where it cannot apply. Maybe it was meant to be Rampage, dunno.

>Plus, don't Jet Pack infantry have some sort of bonus towards melee, or am I hungry?
You're hungry, user.
Also, if the WE use the Crimson Path and gain FnP(in your base), then the Plasma fusil only kills 1 marine per turn.
Thallax do get the benefit of Jump-shoot-jump, so their Fusils are effectively 30" range. Too bad you need two Tax Thallax to buy a single of those marine woodchippers, but that's probably due to full plasma Thallax being terrifying.

Sadness. I need potato.

How do you beat them otherwise for non world eaters, hide in forts and rain artillery?

Plz post their statline.

>GMing 'The Horus Heresy' for your squad of Terran veterans during lulls in battle
>you actually see Perturabo crack a genuine smile when Horus takes the bait

Whose statline?
I'm not sure. They drop in and they can wreak havoc on artillery units, which arent usually protected by Armoured Ceramite, and they can withstand Interceptor fire and can buy Tank Hunters.

>Perturabo's face when he is informed the Traitors have taken the bait.

You know. The Thallax.

You are too weak to own potato! It has taken control over you, made you weak, dependent like the Ironfire. You allow them to control you instead of the other way around. Be like IXth under the All Beloved's lessons and Mechanicum and master your weapons in pic related!

Icarian is Skyfire when stationary.
Ferros is Rage and Rending melee, but no ranged special weapons.
Empyrite is teleport deepstrike, for ZM. Could have been done better.
Destructor is Tank Hunters.

...I thought you were . This be some Alpharius trick.

Nope. I'm no Ironfire rider too weak to master the potato. I'm just a BA passing knowledge on. As seen here we give our megadakka a kiss as a reward.

Its in the 40k general's links in the OP

But the Mechanicum does things differently.

>But the Mechanicum does things differently.
It depends on the sect, especially with Dark Mechanicum.
If you suspect a piece of machinery is possessed, scream a Paradox and escape as fast as you can.

Question for lorefags.

What is the smallest Imperial vessel capable of warp travel?

A Vortex Grenade

Terminator armour

I wanna say some sort of frigate

>implying a daemon can possess an assault cannon filled with love for its Blood Angel

>In bloody defeat, Kyriss the Perverse offered Sanguinius a foul deal: if the Primarch would willingly take the place of the half-dead Tagas within the psychic construct and give himself fully to the Ragefire, he would ensure that his sons would never again be affected by the genetic curse of the Red Thirst. The Primarch seriously contemplated the daemon's offer and finally came to the conclusion that this sacrifice was worth it to save his beloved sons. But before Sanguinius could enter the construct, Meros made the decision for him, and lept into the suspended crystal lattice. Sanguinius threw himself into the air in an effort to save his errant son, but was too late. The Apothecary committed the act without uncertainty, for he knew it was right. The Angel could not fall.
Sanguinius was going to become the Red Angel willingly, but Meros took his place. Out of love, the Angel would have embraced damnation, yet it wouldn't have spared his children of suffering, because we all know daemons lie.
The "won't suffer the Red Thirst" probably meant they would enjoy it.
Also, possession can happen unwilingly. Darkmech aren't above raping machine spirits.

>literal vampire BA
Do want.

I'm sure there's smaller, but the smallest we know if is Destroyer-type vessels, like the Cobra. About 1km long. They're a little smaller than frigates (though in BFG both types are 1-hit escorts). It's likely that some merchant ships are a little smaller but still have warp engines, or cutters used to shuttle important people around.

BFG had system monitors (about the same size) and little system ships (smaller) that were not warp-capable.

Wait, I never remember any of that from Fear to Tread. At no point in that story did the Angel ever get any deal from Kyriss or ever think he would make that sacrifice. The story might have been a lot better if that had happened actually.

>Ragefire

Please, GW. One paragraph that doesn't make me cringe, that's all I ask.

In the Night Lords trilogy Deltrian had a warp capable vessel that could be stored in a cruiser's hanger.

In Nemesis the assassination strike force flew around in a pretty small ship that held basically all six of them and a servitor.

That's right. And in Vengeful Spirit the Knights ride around in a ship that just holds them and a navigator.

I just read it again two days ago. That actually does happen.

>navigator

I hadn't considered that, was their servitor a navigator as well?

No, they had an honest to gods navigator. If I remember correct, they had an astropath too, but I may be wrong.

Corswain vs. Sevatar Who was the better fighter? I mean The Lion curbstomped Cruz pretty bad, but i wonder if the outcome would be different between the two best fighters in their Legions.

They had a pilot l, navigator and astropath were in stasis unless needed.

What is a 30k equalivant to this? Fulgrim fixing up Chemos?

Fulgrim didn't fuck Chemos better though

I guess you missed the part where Curze was choking the life out of Lion with his bare hands.
