any new links to Horus Heresy books? The link in OP is super out of date

...

So what is actually decent out of Angel's Blade? Anything really worth running over a BSF?

I really like mk 4 armor and would like to have a full maximus equipped battle company. However, I'd like to limit my resin to heavy weapons at most. I'll probably pick up betrayal at calth. Will FW resin lascannons fit the plastic mkIV marine missile launcher arms?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THERE ARE NON-GENERICS IN THIS BOX

The Custodes are cool tho.

It depends. The shoukder mounted lascannons will probably fit those arms if they're thenones I'm thinking of, but the hip-fired ones will fit your regular marines just fine.

>mk II

mmm

MkIII actually. You can see the extra armor plates on one of the Thousand Sons.

Woops yeah, meant that.

This was brought up in the last general, but I'll continue because I want to make a couple of Kasrkin squads.

It was mentioned Tempestus Scions would be pretty poor in Kill Team. Sure, their weapons are S3 despite being AP3, and their Carapace Armour only really stops Bolters and Flamers over the standard Guardsman, but what about orders?

Do orders still work the same in Kill Team, despite the models being treated separately? You get a Platoon as a single troops choice, so you can get a Tempestor Prime.

orders specify units, so only one model would do so. On top of that, your bog standard troopers are ld7, so you're 50/50 on an order going off.

Don't get me wrong, orders are still handy, but itll be a happy accident, not something to rely on.

Keep in mind that for what you pay for 10 scions with weapons, I can get 10 vets with carapace, sentinel, and tons of special/heavy weapons.

Army list question; I have a ten man CSM squad that hunkers down behind some ADL pieces with a quad gun to dakka planes and deep strike shenanigans. Question is do I bother giving them a Heavy Bolter for some more bullets to throw at aircraft, or an Autocannon for matched range and target effectiveness?

JUST AS PLANNED

So, any chance the Angel's Blade epub gets uploaded to Mega today?

Autocannon havocs are best for the job your describe.

Autocannon turret on a Chimera, good or bad?

Yup, it's the shoulder mounted ones I'm thinking of.

forgeworld.co.uk/en-DE/Legion-Lascannon-Set

Hmm, I didn't even know FW hip fired lascannons existed.

forgeworld.co.uk/en-DE/Ryza-Pattern-Lascannon-Set

This could also be nice because then I can use the regular arms. Definitely something to think about Thanks!

Good. It's an autocannon, user. Unkess you're going for the Empror's Barbeque, then I doubt you're not going to find it useful.

Yeah, I myself like all the Legion X weapon sets better, but I absolutely hate both of the missile launcher models. They really dropped the ball on those ones.

Okay, I'm getting back into playing 40k since my LGS is doing some Kill Team leagues. It won't be competitive per se, but I know the mix of players (good guys, just want to win type) will mean some tough competition. Which one of these seems the most decent? I've come up with these from hearing general ideas for what works/what doesn't

Option 1:
>Sydonian Dragoon
>Skitarii Vanguard (10 man)
>Skitarii Vangiard (5 man)

Option 2:
>Sicarian Infiltrators

Option 3: (waiting on the Secutarii though, obviously)
>11 Secutarii Peltasts
>Skitarii Vanguard

I whittled it down to these for the general customization each provides, I'm just not sure which seems best. They all look fun as hell though, so what do you guys recommend? Any experiences with similar stuff?

Are you actually trying to say passing a leadership test with Ld 7 is a 50% chance?

Really?

Aren't Peltasts an Elites choice, meaning that you can't actually take them?

The missile launchers are so ass it's not even funny. Even on mk 7 marines the missile launcher is crap. It irritates me that they cut off one stabilizer from the backpack to fit the missile launcher (oh, so I guess you can only stabilize in one direction in low gravity environments, gg) and the loading arm wouldn't be able to physically reach where the missiles come out of the backpack if it could move. I hate fails like this on otherwise decent models.

Another pet peeve is the way most combi weapons are modeled. Okay, so they're about the same size as a regular special weapon but they only have one shot? And the main weapon, the bolter, is minuscule? Fucking fail. The mark IV kit did combi weapons much better, with the one shot special weapon being built into the hand guard and all.

Yet another thing that especially bothers me is the combi-melta on the chaos terminator lord/sorc. The combi-melta has a fucking magazine sticking out the top. Wat. I really don't understand what the sculptor was thinking.

Sorry, rant over.

>Plastic MkIII
Everything else in that box can burn for all I care

IRON WITHIN!

My bitter brother!

If the rumours are true and you can make them into Breachers, then the box and the Custodes are mine. The Space Wolf and TSon characters can burn though.

I can't find that image anywhere else on the web. I'm guessing it's your leak, so thanks very much.

Will there be custodes rules for 40? I mean it would make literally zero sense but it would be awesome, and how manyou of the issues were supposed to have free models?
and are they all going to be shitmar models?

It's actually more like 60% and changen for rolling 7 or less on 2d6.

....

are you not?

There definitely won't be a Custodes army for 40k. Unless they retcon huge parts of the lore, you'd have shirtless/armorless dudes who never leave Terra.

Because the stopped wearing their armor in shame after the Emperor took to the Golden Throne.

Sorry user.

Maybe after the sigmarization of 40k the custodes put their armor back on.

No.

You're going to have an army of shirtless Pillarstodes and like it.

>Unless they retcon huge parts of the lore, you'd have shirtless/armorless dudes who never leave Terra.
What is the actual source for this? I've heard it before, but art of the custodes after the emperor's interment in the golden throne just depicts them as having black armor, not no armor

>you'd have shirtless/armorless dudes

Nice fucking meme faggot.

>tfw you want to start playing Orks

Thinking of getting a bunch of random vehicles and toys to make trukks for cheap and fill them with shoota boys with claw nob boss. Some lootas too, maybe a looted wagon or two. At all viable or no hope?

Do it. Chances are they'll get better or worse next edition, but if you feel like you'll have fun go for it.

>basing your information off of Rogue Trader fluff

Gulliman comes back and tells them they're needed, they'll probably send some to help.

>>basing your information off of Rogue Trader fluff
In opposition to the baseless claims you have?

Is that what the Emperor used to look like on the throne?

What claims? I was giving a suggestion about what sorts of thing might get them to take action. I'm not claiming it's going to happen or anything.

If I take a purge coterie, am I allowed to buy dedicated transports for the Archon and Warriors since the Raider can be taken as a solo FA? What about a court of the Archon, since I am in fact taking an Archon?

You implied that the RT fluff was wrong, and yet provided no evidence to the contrary. Wasn't talking at all about the reason custodes could be in 40k.

Because so much other stuff has been changed?

You can't take Rogue Trader fluff and apply it to modern 40k.

And yet that particular thing about Custodes guarding him wearing black armor has never changed.

>Dedicated Transports
Yes.
>Court of the Archon
I believe not, because they're a separate unit entry unlike Kabalites/Trueborn being interchangeable.

Hrm. So I could in theory have 3 raiders or 1 and 2 Venoms in my Coterie, then? Doesn't seem terrible. Sure, they're empty, but they don't have to stay that way.

Also, pic related really makes me wonder about the court.

Fuck it, I'll play your game. Here's some Custodes from Rogue Trader.

They have bare chests and black cloaks.

Listen, if you buy a small hole punch, some good scissors, some super glue, and enough bitz you can kitbash nearly any vehicle in the codex. Starting with a toy as a base can really help, though.

Bitz ordering sites are your friend. Third party sites are your friend. Kitbash like there's no tomorrow, not one of your boyz should be identical.

As for viability: WHO GIVES A ZOG? You play orks to be a big mek / painboy, not to zog about wif dem stoopid oomie "taktikz" fings.

Enjoy yourself.

I legit would play a Shirtless Custodes army. It'd be hilarious.

>Eversor assassin is the dedicated close combat assassin!
>AP - close combat attacks

which race has the most MANLY LOVIN

>Tfw sniped FIVE times for five separate Jokaero.
Guess I'm "as ising" some Ork Boyz as Jokaero until I can find more of them.

So would you go the TTS route with their poses and make them goofy camp, or would you go the Zack Snyder route and make them try to rock the leather underwear look all comically serious?

Did you forget Eversors have a Power Sword too?

Yes.

SHIT, I need to work on my meming skills

>Calth sorted out my loyalist army
Now to grab some scarab dudes.

I'd try it like this:

>Eversors get Power Swords for free
>These Power Swords are modeled absolutely no where on them
Fucking GW is so damn lazy at their bias towards Loyalists, I mean CSM don't even get Eversors, let alone invisible Power Swords!

It's on his back senpai

How do I kit out a RG tactics character/monster slayer? I'm thinking librarian w/ two mastery levels of biomancy who banks on his force sword to cause instant death in a challenge.

Well shit, I've only ever seen that model from the front and I always thought that bit sticking up was a radio.

The more you know I guess.

If you were a loser like me and compelled to use wyches, how would you field them?

It'd actually be 6/11 since it's impossible to roll 1 with 2d6, so it's still closer to 50%

Is there errata or anything rescinding this from Escalation? Something with the new CAD/Battle-forged/ally system?

I can't imagine that Inq detachment (primary) + IG CAD makes it impossible to take along a Baneblade, or that a Stormlord can't tow about 40 SoB dominions or 10 scions or 20 guardsmen with a non-IG IC attached.

Something just seems strangely archaic about this, especially with all the Battle-forged/Battle-Brother allegiance rules.

The fact that it calls it Codex: Imperial Guard instead of Codex: Astra Militarum means it was probably written before the allies matrix even existed.

>i literally have no idea how probability works

Stick him with a squad of Vanguard Veterans and a Chaplain for a fun little mini-deathstar.

Which is why I'm wondering about its relevance. Can units from Codex: Tempestus Scions ride a Stormlord? Can Inquisitorial Henchmen?

I recall space marines being able to take baneblade/variants as a LoW, but that may have been pre-Escalation. Could a Dark Angels CAD grab a Shadowsword these days?

I think you might be thinking of 30k, where any army can take baneblades and their variants.

M8

Would be still be worth it without the chaplain? I'm running IG as my main force with an allied detachment of sm scouts and vanguard vets. Don't think I CAN take both a libby and a chaplain with that setup.

So does anyone have the new Beast book? Willing to share?

The Chaplain isn't really necessary, but having Zealot is really helpful.

sisters of silence when?

In that game allegedly

Will a Chaplain be suitably killy to take out enemy characters in a challenge? Is there a way to make him more killy if not?

When FW says.

Nope.

You could always give a Chaplain a Power Fist, but it wouldn't be the best option. You could always give him Swiftstrike and Murder, but I wouldn't personally. If you want a fluffy and a somewhat decent relic, give him the Raven Skull of Korvaad.

You'd probably be better off running a Librarian though if you have to choose between a Librarian or Chaplain.

>mfw i just bought warzone fenris

welp it was full price, but it's out of print and the formatting on those ebooks is terrible. believe me Veeky Forums, i have tried to get it for a better price off ebay or these online sites but i didn't find anything. i won't be buying anything else for my chaos daemons so i guess i'm done buying 40k for the next year or so if/when i start an eldar army. well, maybe Samus or Cor'bax but i can't bring myself to buy that 3rd exalted seeker chariot so i can do it as a proper harvester

any reason or way to run bolter death company?

Ive just got a bunch of chaos daemons that ill be taking allied for a game. How do i choose hellforged artefacts? I need to get a reward and choose the default for 30p? In battlescribe you can just choose them and theyre cheaper, i dont get it..

Court of the Archon is it's own unit, hence why people take a 10-point Sslyth as a HQ because most DE HQs are shit.

Again, realistically speaking, he's got a roughly 50/50 chance of passing his order. Yes, "technically" he's got a 58.whatever the fuck chance to pass but tactically, not even 60% chance to pass the order is not a good thing to build a strategy around.

It doesn't fucking matter because even if you rounded it up to 60 thats still shitty odds considering an order is usually a very important shot to make.

Yeah, back before the decay REALLY set in.

I'd say he looks a bit better now, tbqh. Look at that face and those hands.

Sslyths are 25 points and iirc the only non-Scourge way to get Shardcarbines now that Trueborn can't take them. The 10 pt ones are lhamaeans (or however you spell it, I always forget)

Looking at this picture raised a question that I have for long time. Why is Prospero so much popular, eaven more than Istvaan? Is it the legions, or because of Custodes, or sisters?
Ia it because battle of Prospero was described better in HH books?
Since the begining of FW HH, when Prospero was to be book III, the hype is off the charts.

Because Space Yiff and TSons.

Because it is the site of the Emperor's greatest folly, the last place where actually trusting his son could've saved him and his Imperium from Horus.

Which Kill Team specialist works best for a Shaper? (combat, dirty fighting, indomable, something else)

That's the one, thanks user.

As a tarpit unit when you know your opponent is doing to deepstrike some heavy shit.

Magnus and the Thousand Sons are some of the most interesting characters in HH (pretty boring in 40k, desu), and this is the climax of their story. It's also the reveal of the Space Wolves purpose as executioners.

I've always found it a pretty exciting event, even before I knew that Custodes and Sisters of Silence were involved.

Other than that, I can't really say. Some things are just more exciting than others. For example, Isstvaan V and the Drop-Site Massacre are far less interesting than the Isstvan III Atrocity. Same legions (more or less), but the elements of the battle are just more interesting than Isstvaan V's. The World Eaters' civil war especially.

Hrm. I know I saw one guy prodding Grav Cents. Something like that I guess?

My original plan was to be wounds for a Succubus, but idk what to kind of unit to give her.

How do marines fare if you dont run any grav at all?

Maybe 5-8% worse.

How viable would an army composed of nothing but eversors be?

WRYYYYYYYY cool

Working on a fluffy Word Bearer's army in 40k with the new formations, what does Veeky Forums think?
