Looking for a build help with a Lvl 1 Human Zweisent build that I'm trying to Iron out; particularly the Disciplines/Maneuvers.
Stats: 20PB
14 10 14 18 10 10
Feats: Power Attack and Improved Init
Traits: Reactionary and Unorthodox Method

Thinking of taking Empyreal Guardians for a tradition to access to Sliver Crane, and unorthodox method to swap Eternal Guardian for Broken Blade.
My final discipline access should look like: Golden Lion, Iron Tortoise, Primal Fury, Scarlet Throne, Silver Crane, Broken Blade

1st Level maneuvers: Encouraging Roar, Enduring Crane strike, Flurry Strike, Panthera on the Hunt, and maybe something from Scarlet here?

Thoughts? Criticisms?
I'm trying to compete with two other PC's who will most likely be Tier 1 classes.

Recruiting a player for a game! (Reposting from old thread, we're still looking for more applicants!)
>Path of War and Psionics allowed
>Modified Kingmaker (both in mechanics and plot)
>Runs Saturday evenings (4:30pm CST), once every two weeks, but room for solo sessions
>Lewd content
(How lewd? Enough so that the players and DM have fun without growing stale or without being mindless)
>Current group has all played together before and we trust each other not to break the game

Why would you need to crank up Int so high? What sort of weapon are you lugging around? Nothing for Wis or Dex? I'd suggest a Cha dump for more points to buy with, but you're looking into Golden Lion and Iron Tortoise, unless you don't take anything calling for Diplo or Bluff.

What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

saratoga.com/how-should-i-know/2013/07/what-is-the-average-air-speed-velocity-of-a-laden-swallow.html

Is that an African or a European Swallow?

Still a cheeky lil sh-
Oh.

European

>what-is-the-average-air-speed-velocity-of-a-laden-swallow
>laden
Evidence dismissed.

It discusses both:
>In the end, it's concluded that the airspeed velocity of a (European) unladen swallow is about 24 miles per hour or 11 meters per second.

>Why would you need to crank up Int so high?
Don't need to just an experimental buy, you would suggest dump Cha and maybe move the extra two from that two Dex? Take the racial to Wis?
End up with: 14 12 14 16 12 8
Better?

Neglecting Dip and Bluff might be doable since I think one of the other players will be a Bard.

Fairer, though later Warder gets Int to Reflex, so you could get by with 10 Dex if you want to roll with 10 Touch AC. What you have now is decent.

Personally I use Warder as a beatsticking wall, so you could take Dex down to 10, float 2 points over to Wis, then take your +2 racial to Str since you have d12 hit dice, or put the +2 into Con to be all the more meaty.

How many fucking people are you going to get? This is starting to reek of living campaign.

Good to know.

Any advice for stances and maneuvers?

Eh? Only 3 people applied, and we're not running until, oh, Oct 1st at the earliest? Right now we have 4 players, and the application is for one person. I'm not going to constantly lurk threads to drop the ad, don't worry, that was the second and last time.

I'd want to apply, but the campaign clashes with the timeslot of the campaign I'm DM'ing.

Would it be like a Flowers for Algernon type thing? Like what if you put some kind of crown that's got a lot of intellect stacked on it atop the head of an ogre? Would it become really smart?

Is there any reason why monk archetypes that remove Flurry of Blows still have features that only work with Flurry of Blows?

Hello Veeky Forums

I've been trying to set up a campaign for pathfinder.
The person that was going to be the GM kinda vanished from the earth.
The other players (5 total), including myself, have no experience with Pathfinder.
They were all very excited and genuinely looking forward to it so I'm trying to pick up of where he left off.
We'd like to use to opportunity to familiarise ourselves with Pathfinder so I've been looking for "pre-made" campaigns.

I gotta say, It's kinda overwhelming.

We'll be playing on Roll20, in English and I've checked out some of "Modules" they offer.
Currently eyeing "The Master's Vault" which seems to be a decent beginner campaign.

I hope to learn more about it as we progress, I've reading the rulebook and know enough to get us started. I hope.
Tonight we'll be kicking it off and create characters, I'm planning to use dice to assign random stats since nobody has a character made.

What "Module" or pre-made campaign would you recommend for beginners?
I don't want to let them down, I'm hoping that even though it's gonna be a mess we'll have fun.
This is a group from all corners of the world but we talk daily, I'm hoping it could become a regular thing.

Would being pro-war be an evil act?

Yes, when you put on an item that raises your stats it raises your stats. When you take off an item that raises your stats then your stats go back to their previous level. Having a higher INT score means you're smarter than having a lower INT score.

War for the sake of war is evil, otherwise it's neutral at worst.

No, I think most deities of war are CN.

Neutral, as war can be justified and thus made Good too. Gorum, the main god of war, is CN.

Gorum is not god of war
War for what?
You need to give a reason for the war for to tell what alignment it is.

Damn, someone should write a character who is functionally catatonic without a special enchanted heirloom or item but when he or she has it turns them into some kind of super genius

>Gorum is not god of war
I guess battles isn't war, but it's darn close

Gods with war as an aspect of concern include
LG: Angradd
NG: Neith
CN: Sekhmet
LE: General Susumu, Nergal
NE: Szuriel
LE: Moloch, Nurgul (Senseless Warfare)
CE: Varg

(me)
Ick, tired. Moloch is LE, Nurgul is CE.

FUCK FUCK FUCK sleep

War always has context and purpose
Gorum stays neutral exactly because his battles do not need context. Fighting for the sake of the fight.

Recommend me a beginner friendly campaign / module on roll20

What books do you guys think are a must-have, if you want to buy the books?

I'm aware of the fact that stuff is available online and that there's also PDFs, but what books would you recommend to someone that only owns the Core Rule Book so far?

In particular, adding +Stats to items were NOT the "DM adjudication" rules. They were just rules. Per the MIC, you can put +Stats on items of the right slot without any price surcharge.

3.5 was much better for magic items.

Path of War Expanded/UltPsi, which have stuff the srd is missing/not properly updated. Almost no paizo books are worth the cash, and at most I'd half-reccomend the WMH.

How do you guys plan to handle sexual content in the campaign? Are we talking about a campaign where a player might get propositioned and move to a private channel for sex, or are you modifying characters and encounters to titillate or add a sexual spin (such as turning Svetlana into a voluptuous MILF or that crazy axe lady into a horny Amazon.)

How hard is it to get a group into Pathfinder? I've never played it myself, so I don't know much about it, but I'm interested. We've played various systems before, but never D&D 3.5. Could the party pick it up easily without having experienced anything too similar (5e is probably the closest thing they've done)?

I wouldn't recommend 3.PF for beginners, it's complex and pretty counterintuitive sometimes (specially with martials).

Try 5e, is a watered down 3.5, once you get the basic knowledge of d20 you can move into 3.PF if you're still interested.

I'm a backer for the PF Scarred Lands kickstarter, have the PF Scarred Lands Players Guide and I'm happy to answer any questions about it. If you don't know what Scarred Lands is, google it. It's a pretty noticeable brand.

when people get taste of 5E, it usually sullies PF for them
While 5E is shallow, it is overall better designed than PF at this point

Oh god, not these idiots again.

"Blood Orc" It's an orc from the bloodlands!
"Blood Orc Shaman" I's a CR 2 orc with full 7 druid casting levels and their choices of spells!
"Ash Troll" It's a troll from the ash mountains!

Their CRs make WotC CR look fucking mathemetaically perfect, and they are seriously overpowered as well (the CR 2 orc with 7 levels of druid casting, for instance; or the CR 3 goblin with an AC of 20), when thye aren't just giving things edgy names without changing much of the numbers.

They've done 5e. Just wanted to know if that was enough of a segue, thanks.

I would hope so, they had like 14 additional years of game design knowledge.

>They've done 5e
Then, if you want, try PF, is a couple of steps up 5e but the idea is the same

i'm in a precarious situation where half my group have tried 5e and loved it and the other half are pathfinder lifers who will play PF until they die.

I might just split the group or something.

How much are you being paid to shill?

as long as the war is against evil then no

How does the "Combating Christmas Trees" variant from Steelforge: Book I actually work with respect to maintaining permanent bonuses? The book contradicts itself in a span of one page.

>A weapon or similar item confers the effects added with this variant as long as the wielder has it within their space or actively being used (in the case of a thrown weapon), even if it is sheathed, leaned against a tavern table, or flying through the air at an orc’s face. An item that is disarmed or otherwise taken from its owner stops granting its effects, however (granting them to its new wielder instead if stolen).

>Temporary or Permanent?
>When a character has added effects to an item that is normally wielded, it should be treated as if it were continuously worn so long as they still own it, even if it leaves their hands (such as by throwing a weapon, or a party surrendering their weapons to the city watch when meeting the king). For example, if a character has a sword that grants them a +2 bonus to their Intelligence score, after 24 hours of owning it, they can use their increased score for the purposes of meeting prerequisites. They would still only gain its benefits (and thus, the benefits of feats or other options whose prerequisites were met with it) while the item is within their reach or in use. After a character has lost their item for 24 hours, they are no longer treated as its owner, and must hold it for another day to gain these benefits.

Which is it? If I give my +2 Intelligence sword to the city guard and that +2 Intelligence was qualifying me for a feat, do I still keep the +2 Intelligence for the purpose of qualifying for *and benefiting from* that feat?

If I place +2 Intelligence onto a slotless item like a Stone of Good Luck, do I still gain the benefits if I deposit the stone into a Bag of Holding and wear that bag?

IM FUCKING INVINCIBLE

Shills don't declare their direct connections.

If it's for the sake of maximizing profit and strangling the populace under more tyrannical laws, it's extra evil.

I want to play the kingmaker campaign but I'm not particularly interested in participating in the lewd stuff. Any chance I join and play the normal parts?

>Joining a lewd Kingmaker campaign
>Doesn't want the lewd

There's plenty of people that want the lewd and Kingmaker, user.

Too bad then.

Hey, so if anyone from DSP is around, I have a question about Akasha.

You know how the Guru gets Stunning Fist and the Akasin can pick stuff like the Longbow as a Philosophy Weapon? Is there any reason why such characters are locked out of being able to use Stunning Fist on their ranged attacks even if they have their bow loaded with Gentle Touch essence?

Just to clarify, I know that the reason they can't use SF at range is because the text says "melee attack" but is that word there as a holdover or because you made the deliberate decision to put that restriction in (and if so, could I ask why)?

DSP makes melee abilities half the time, and forgets ranged combat even exists the other half. You should honestly be surprised that Solar Wind, Tempest Gale and the psi-archetype kinetic blasts don't say "melee".

The 'forge' stuff was equally ridden with melee everything (including accurizing weapons) to the point where an "extra ammunition" customization WOULD have said "melee weapons only" had it actually existed.

Sad but true.

Being a bowfag in DSPfinder is suffering.

But wait, what about the stupid OP Gifted Blade/Psychic Armory/War Soul?

They hired writers with system mastery this time. It's been years since the d20 bubble burst and everyone learned their lesson.

What he said. I'm just answering questions about the players guide because why not?

>go to check the construct modifications again to refresh my memory for later on in the game
>the ability score modification doesn't say it has a limit, but also doesn't say it can be applied more than once
>I want to believe it /CAN/ be applied a multiple times, but also don't want to look like a powergaming faggot

I know someone in the thread has used this stuff before, how did your group(s) rule it? If I can apply it to the same score more than once, how many times should I limit myself too so I avoid being an ass about it?
When will we get more variety in construct modifications? The modifications outside the basic ones are total ass.

Dunno about the first question but I would say no to the second.

1-2 int is animal intelligence. 18 is genius, so for super genius, you'll want to go higher. Assuming 2 int and 20 once the item comes into play, the cost of such an item would be 324k gp. That's 324k to unbork your character, assuming your GM allows you to dump your int that low. If you're rolling (heavens forbid) you have a minimum 3. PB usually has a minimum 7.

So, learning about PoW now. But on my first glance through the book, I don't see a lot in the way of archetypes. So where do things like mentions of "Fighter (Initiator)" And "Vigilante (Initiator)" Come from? Is it just a selection of feats that give you limited PoW ability?

The archetypes are in Path of War: Expanded.

>Whenever I get to play on Roll20, it's because my wife is taking care of all 4 of my kids, so I think it would be disrespectful to her to be socializing with mixed company while she is working her ass off chasing our kids, and that's why I will only be accepting the applications of MEN WITH JOBS AND FAMILIES.

Imagine been such a cuck that you can't even be around women in the internet that live in another continent.

>I got badly burned when I started a group called the League of Dads and one loser with a lot more time than scruples lied about his marital and parental status and turned the group into a guild with 19 year old girls getting creepy posts from said loser.

Which one of you was this.

> CG officer of the law
How would you handle this.

"You can't play a chaotic law enforcer"

Would Samuel Vimes count?

"'Smite' first, ask questions while smiting."

Pic very related.

Who the hell made this organization and please tell me it's unofficial.

HE'S A LOOSE CANNON THAT DOESNT PLAY BY THE RULES

You're one sweaty black police chief away from an 80s cop drama.

Just watch The Sweeny or something, man.

You mean the one that's melee at long range?

It's melee.

I'm playing a Marksman with the Mind's Eye Disciple archetype in my current campaign and it's pretty damn effective at pumping out damage.

What sorts of interesting abilities would you give ranged attackers that aren't
a) Flat out worse than ranged full attack
b) An improved version of ranged full attack?

Strikes already fall into that problem compared to melee full attacks, and then the extra attacks you get at range makes the problem even sillier.

you serious? bowadins do insane damage if they activate smite.

If you have your +2 Int on a sword and own that sword for 24 hours, you are considered to be up 2 Int for the purposes of prerequisites. You still only ACTUALLY gain the benefits while you have the sword, but you don't suddenly have to spend 24 hours "re-attuning" to it to use your feats if you're disarmed or drop your sword.

Do you think anybody will mourn Golarion's passing when the setting finally bites it?

No
Nobody cared when Greyhawk died

Well, for an example, the ability in question is Stunning Fist, which can actually be pretty great and does something other than damage.
And that is really the problem that keeps cropping up with DSP ranged stuff; all the stuff that isn't damage and is instead tactical stuff ends up being melee only.

A mix of the two, but not so much that the monster is some sort of B porn film monster (though that would be funny). Sexual content is both its own thing and also something that can supplement combat and story, it's only the focus if the players or the DM at the time want it to be in the spotlight.

As the DM, I'm shooting for fair portions of combat, story and smut, but not so much of the smut to the point that it takes up an entire session.

What was Greyhawk all about, anyway? I know Forgotten Realms was a generic hodge-podge and Eberron is magical 1920s, but Greyhawk?

Yes that's fine.

The idea behind strikes wasn't bad, but the scaling is atrocious, due to full attacks.

What I'd do, short of reinventing the combat system of course, would be to combine the strikes.

+8d6 at 14th on a single attack is unimpressive. You could've fired 4-5 more times and gotten more than that just in bonus elemental dice. When it's limiting you to a single attack, it's poo.

Likewise, what the fuck are you doing with a trip if you could just have killed the fucker instead. "LOL WASTE YOUR TURN DOING A SINGLE DISARM WITH NORMAL DAMAGE". Right. Yeah how wonderful.

But what if the damage strikes and the debilitator strikes were stacked up? What if strikes were the equivalent of FF "Bad Breath"?

If you don't full attack, you get +8d6 on a hit that has a guaranteed minor status effect like weapon-dropped, AND save vs a non-mind-affecting confused. Finally Interesting a bit?

It's also important that they do shit you can't do otherwise so you'll HAVE situations where "wait, I CAN do something" (like Worm-Smasher, Snake Shots, charged beams, "charging" attacks of the "I swear flying faster makes this shot hit harder" variety, autofiring, etc etc), and yes, they SHOULD include a second or later third attack by mid/late levels like the PoC "Burst Fire" standard does, just so the damage can fucking keep up for once, because "two shots with +2d6 and each a chance to prone and stun" is better than "one shot, +8d6, final destination". FUCK final destination, that flat boring plain of boredom, and a shitty movie series too.

anyways... uh...\

I forget what I was talking about, but the important thing is I had an onion around my belt. We didn't have red onions because of the war.....

Better settings have died and left naught but tombstones and memorials in their wake. When Golarian's time is at hand and Groetus devours all, it will be as dust in the wind and none shall care enough to even build a cairn in its honor, though perhaps some kindly soul will take pity upon it and erect a memorial to its memory in the electronic sea.
