Big Trouble in Little China.

>filename

Excellent taste, although A Knight's Tale is in my top five.

The Princess Bride
Big Trouble in Little China
A Knight's Tale
Monte Python and the Holy Grail
The 13th Warrior

Absolutely fucking Golden taste

I don't even know why people liked this movie.

>The Princess Bride

"Look at me I'm so quirky! The cake is a lie! Never go against a sicilian when death is on the line! LOL your friend is only half dead. HAHAHA HAHA. What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? My faovirte color? AHHHH"

Autistic people who quote the Princess Bride make me want to slit my exgirlfriend's throat with a sharp plastic shard from the movie box. God I hate that movie.

Wizards is top-tier.

But it's a pretty funny movie though, you gotta admit user.

Bakshi LotR

Nah, it's really kinda gay. It's rarely funny and the whole "you killed my father prepare to die" shtick was so autistic I cringed hard halfway thorugh the movie. It's a kid's movie, I don't really see how anyone over the age of 18 can find it funny at all.

Not really a Veeky Forums related film but to me, Fellowship of the Ring has some Veeky Forums-related nostalgia for me since it was roughly around the time I started D&D. My uncle gave me his AD&D books roughly after Fellowship released (he just bought the 3e books) and I started playing that with my siblings. Then when we got the DVD of Fellowship, me and my siblings would make commentary on what ability/skill checks and saving throws the characters made during the film.

>"DELETE THIS" the ending

How old are you user? It might be because you've been so inundated with references to it, now so pervasive in our culture, that by time you saw the actual source material, it was so bland, generic, and cliche that it didn't have a chance to be enjoyed.

Your Highness was basically a D&D campaign with a that guy and a magical realming GM

>Monty python isn't funny

although the that guy does eventually learn to enjoy the game

Wizards is overrated. The story is too bad to even be cheesy fun, and the animation just comes off as embarrassingly cheap rather than charmingly low budget.

That movie is terrible but it holds a special place in my heart for adding "fuckening" to my vocabulary.

i'd have to say it's Veeky Forums related, it's an adaptation of one of the fundamental seeds of modern ttrpg's

>seinfield is trashteir sitcom

Calm down autismo

Conan the Barbarian.

>Ehh, we have run out of money
>Whatever, just put a filter over the scenes that were to be rotoscopied

I always liked more Frasier, even as a kid.

So what's it like living without joy and taking yourself way too seriously?

This movie doesn't really get the credit it deserves.
The second one was total camp and the latest one was just more over the top American action flick BS but Barbarian is a fine film and definitely one of the few good D&Dish type movies of all time.

i agree, but it was fun to watch. that cheezy shit was there to make the good stuff actually look good.

13th Warrior is how you run an adventuring party.

Six-string Samurai is how you run a player duo

Galaxina is comedy sci-fi. watch before you play OSR sci-fi games. same goes Zardoz.

Willow is pretty much Star Wars as fantasy.
Dragonslayers is nice
Baron Munchausen is hilarious

Fuck that looks beautiful

agreed!

I'm sorry she hurt you so much.

It's a great movie overall if you can look past Arnold's line deliveries. It does help that he has very few lines throughout the movie.

Some not yet mentioned (I think):
Fire and Ice
Conan (the original and remake)
The Wild Hunt
Willow
Merlin (staring Sam Neill)
The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen
Princess Mononoke
Solomon Kane
The Fall

A couple series:
The Hero Yoshihiko and the Demon King's Castle
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Berserk

>13th Warrior is how you run an adventuring party.

Would it work as a straight up historic game, though? I mean, it's not like there was really any fantasy in the movie.

watch Fire and Ice if you haven't yet

The 13'th Warrior is an adaptation of Beowulf.

...

The pilot episode for Korgoth of Barbaria is pretty fucking sweet in terms of ruthless low brow fantasy violence

10/10

Heavy Metal

This is one of those movies where the term "ultra violence" is a massive understatement. Almost like literal gore porn, it's a rare gem that is just utterly disgusting and yet Rutger Hauer is giving his all in it especially during the hospital scene in front of the infant newborns. Who thought this was a good idea for a film? This was supposed to be just a joke trailer, not an actual thing.

This. It has everything - barbarians, rogues, sorcerers, shamans, witches, valkyries, knights, towers, castles, temples and awesome landscapes.

It is hard to beat this as the most Veeky Forums.

>I allow other people's enjoyment of things to dictate how much I can enjoy those things, and if they enjoy them beyond what I deem acceptable, I am incapable of enjoying it myself

Neither of them are any good. Monty Python is the same "lol we're so random" bullshit that fat 15 year old Dr. Who cunts enjoy. Reminds me of that FOAMMMM cringe video. Fuck Monty Python. And Seinfeld is outdated as fuck, tries to be all philosophical when in reality it's shallow trash and it's not even funny (it has a laugh track for fucks' sake).

I don't, faggot. I laugh at a lot of things. But not trash-tier comedy made for eight year olds. Did you not notice who was being read the book in The Princess Bride? A FUCKING EIGHT YEAR OLD.

She really didn't, she was actually suicidal and so I couldn't break up with her for like 3 months cause then she'd off her self and they'd blame me. Her friends were a bunch of goddamn harpies.

Exactly when in my post did I say or imply that?

UNICORN!! UNICORN!!!

Your autism makes me smile and be glad that even though I get angry at things, I'll never be as petty as you.

The plague make me think of a long running murderhobo party that has been allowed to fester and become their own strange entity.

> not liking a shitty 80s movie is petty

k

Going full autism over it is.

A coworker of mine recommended that to me but I can't find it anywhere. Can you point me in the right direction?
Who is more autistic, the autists or the autist who rants about them?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Metal_(film)
He's probably talking about this one.

desu Heavy Metal made no sense to me. I got more mileage out of the soundtrack.

Excalibur

the character dynamics and how the adventure unfolds.

applies to any genre

Or you can just accept how unintentionall hilariously cheesy he is and relish every 'Cromm!'. The prayer though, call my taste shit, but that is actually some damn fine acting, even if it's so only by accident. Either way, yup, the movie's great.

Yeah, that's the one, I just can't find anywhere I can watch it. None of the video stores I visit have it and I don't have Netflix.

yts.ag/movie/heavy-metal-1981

The Dwarvenaut isn't too bad

crackle.com/heavy-metal

It easily has one of the best and most fitting soundtracks ever made, and the symbolism displayed is incredibly well done.

Propels it from a 7 cheese fest to a 10

>Not really a Veeky Forums related film but to me, Fellowship of the Ring
Are you fucking stupid?

Patrician tastes.

Someone wants to be virt real bad.

Lord of the rings, Ghost in the shell, the thing, event horizon, star wars, miyazaki films.

Labyrinth

Fuck yes!

Holy shit I literally cannot fathom how one person can be so wrong

There isn't any phrase in the english language that allows me to adequately convey my disdain for your taste in media. Like yeah okay everybody is entitled to their own opinion but your opinion is literally wrong.

Get over yourself, you sound like a bitter asshole.

I just watched this yesterday, and holy fucking shit, The Last Unicorn was way better than I ever expected it could be.

It felt like I was watching an animated AD&D game going on... Very adult themes for a movie about a unicorn

Also, the wizard looks exactly like one of my friends, spot on, pic related

I would definitely put this as one of my top TG movies of all time

>Merlin (starring Sam Neill)
It was SHIT.
And I have a passion for the arthurian saga.
Even Boorman's is more credible and impressive today

Is this some horsefucker shit? Because this better not be some horsefucker shit. I don't want to sit down and watch a movie about a fucking unicorn unless it's actually good.

Yes in the sense that at one point the Unicorn transforms into a naked human female.

She's the last Unicorn because a giant flaming bull is chasing them into the ocean, where they become the crests of waves.

Christopher Lee has a voice role.

It's badass.

>wahhh im the most interesting important person in the whole world

lolno

>Yes in the sense that at one point the Unicorn transforms into a naked human female.

I take this sentence to mean that there are (non-horse) titties involved. Good enough for me.

...

...

I was afraid it would be that when I first was going to watch it, but trust me, it is a trippy, depressing and wonderful adventure which examines the human condition far more than most media (its also really weird, in a surreal way).

It is closely adapted from one of the top 20 fantasy books of all time, and it is easy to see why

In no specific order:
Knight's Tale
13th Warrior
Johnny Mnemonic
Hard Candy

You remind me of the babe.

so what DO you find humor in, then?

...

The guy should have gotten the real pills.

TRUTH

Its a good thing all the opinions of this movie are horrible - it sets it up to being laughable garbage, only to deluge you with just how surprising the movie is as a whole. Arnold is really good casting choice for playing Howard's version of Conan - short on words, awkward sounding compared to civilized folk because he is a man of the hills, a goddamn beast in physique where you know he can pop your neck down to a stump even when he's just sitting next to the fireplace. Sure there's a slew of campy moments, but the movie is so embedded in a the ancient generation that is the 80s a lot of its shortcomings can be viewed as 'that's just how they did things those days.'

Also, Basil Poledouris as the composer instantly bumps every movie he scores 3 points higher than it should be. Theology/Civilization remains one of the best tracks ever for travel montage

Dr. Who is cringe as fuck, agreed, but Monty Python only seems cliche and samey because it inspired everything to come after it for decades. It's like complaining that LOTR has orcs elves dwarves and humans and that's so stereotypical, when the only reason that it's stereotypical is that LOTR did it first.

Dr. Who sucks because these days it's trying too hard to be Douglas Adams without doing any of the legwork. It's like someone collected some bulletpoints on what makes Bong sci-fi comedy funny and interesting, and they took all of the superficial garbage without capturing any of the substance. Personally I blame the collapse of classical education.

The most baffling thing about Conan the Barbarian is that it manages to actually have contemplative moments that FEEL like Howard's Conan... Acted by Ahnold.

I really can't wait until the next one comes out with him as old King Conan.

>Fun fact: Arnold Schwarzenegger's legitimate son has no real interest in bodybuilding... But his illegitimate half-Mexican son does
>Arnold now trains his half-aztec bastard in the arts of Austrian Hugeonomics
>He will probably be governor of California in twenty years

>Not really a Veeky Forums related film but to me
wat

The whole trilogy is nice, but The Deluge is my favorite.

youtube.com/watch?v=0PWaJ6URRU0

I remember those orks. When I was a kid, I was painting some Chaos Beastmen. My mom, that is the reason I know Lotr, had a look and said:
"oh, are those orcs?"

*orcs. Fugg :DDD

What babe?

That ending though..... , unexpected /k/ to the max.

Hey if you're going to post Yor, you gotta post the theme song

youtube.com/watch?v=Dx-F6VnLezM

>weopon
>Always know that you are shooting at... but no mention about knowing what's behind it.

1.66/10 image. Probably designed by some Cpби who's never held a gun in his life.

Speaking of, surprised no one's posted it.

youtube.com/watch?v=4cZqRzHnI8s

Seconded.

The babe with the power...

and also Legend (it has a hag called Meg)? and one of my favs... Beastmaster!

Dammit, missed the quote, newb

You already posted it

Actually, gonna change my vote to this.

This one and part two. It's how everyone wants to play D&D. Really fun movies just don't be completely sober. Tavern brawls with pig faced brutes, a child torturing evil sorcerer, a protagonist who tries to rape a girl he just saved from bandits and not a single ugly woman. What's not to love?
