I wish my DMs did that

by that I wish I could play RPGs

>playing RPGs
>interacting with other people
>not playing with yourself

fucking normalfags, playing games with other humans. get off our board reeee

>GM plays music on his phone
>It's two steps from hell

>start the session
>DM takes out phone and plays Oblivion soundtrack

>not having a speaker and soundboard
I agree with you man, lazy dms really should quit the hobby

What's wrong with that?

The problem with playing music during combat is that combat is slow as fuck. If you've got some fast paced action-packed music blazing in your ears while everyone is sitting idly waiting for their turn it can get repetitive and awkward. Especially if it's just playing from their phone instead of through some speakers around the room. Even worse if the music they chose some trash remix or a song with lyrics.

>two steps from hell

>start the session
>DM whips out his phone and plays the soundtrack from Conan the Barbarian

We are in for a cheesy good time.

>battle starts
>DM puts on SMT music

Maybe combat is slow for you because you play with a slow group

>In some night club
>DM plays this youtube.com/watch?v=fAnKORQ4YL0

>Encounter starts
>EVERYBODY GET UP IT'S TIME TO SLAM NOW

i don't recognize it and move on

>encounter is about to start
>DM has his phone ready to play music when encounter starts
>encounter begins
>party member stabs the healer in the back and proclaims allegiance to the Lord of the Citadel
>anime music begins playing

>mfw I'm the DM and the person had asked for betrayal music

I once gave an NPC theme music that I would play whenever he landed a hit during his cage match with another player. It only showed up once per round, so it didn't get tiresome.

...

I once had music play during a big fight against a group of bards. A group of bards that supplied said music and used a lot of sonic spells.

The party had to wade through a mosh pit, fighting off crazed fans as they went.

Except the party's bard, who got it in his head that it was a solo fight for him, so he ran ahead and got his ass handed to him by the drummer.

>it's a final fantasy campaign

>players end up outside a club
>play this low enough so they can just hear the bass

youtube.com/watch?v=v0QiojYlAi0

I thought it worked well

>bard begins inspiring performance
>DM puts Through the Fire and Flames on
>that's what's playing in setting too
>party joins in singing

shit is epic

Came here to post this

>BBG enters the fight
>Where the hood at starts playing

Just playing music from your phone is trashy as hell.
At least play it from your laptop speakers, damn.

But the sound from my phone is better than the sound from my laptop.
