I imagine that since TSons had such heavy losses all the time, they would have more dreads than normal

That moment when you favorite legion won't get anything added for a long time.

How do they transport mastodons anyway?

Thunderhawks or landers maybe.

How can you have heavy losses if you don't even have too many marines to begin with?
Stormbirds?
>He-hear me out. What if we put a Super-heavy, (INSIDE) of a Super-heavy?

They toss 'em to their destination. That's why its codename is Gimli

Thousand Sons likely had quite some vehicle support in general to compensate for the low number of infantry.

The fluctuated between like half strength and literally 1000 marines throughout the heresy. I would think there would be a lot of marines left fucked up by the mutations, so dreads would see heavy use

Their losses were to the dangers of mutation and psychic overuse, which aren't really things you can just fix by putting them in a dreadnought.

Meatgrinder legions, or ones fighting all over the place all the time like the Dangles and Smurfs are who I'd see having the most dreadnoughts.

I agree with Mutated marines get euthanized.

Was there anything at the open day about legion specific models coming with inferno?

They used fuckloads of robots and the own personal Army regiment to make up their numbers.
If their rules don't include some form of unique robot and auxilia choice or loadout, something's fucked.

So big tactical blobs wouldnt be fluffy for them?

Big anything marine blobs isn't very fluffy for Thousand Sons

Well shit

They gotta illustrate in some way how Thousand Sons are a small legion.
Maybe one of their RoWs will use Militia like the UM and RG ones.

Bullshit. You're not playing the entire legion, nor is your army supposed to be perfectly representative of the legion as a whole. Unless you're planning on using 200+ tactical marines in one game, I doubt it's a problem.

Why? We don't even know exactly how small they are. For all we know they've been made into a standard size legion of ~100,000. Hell, according to the Raven Guard lore, the RG were the smallest pre-Isstvan legion at 80,000.

And personally, I'd be cool with it if they did that because we already know that the Prospero campaign was more than just fighting on Prospero, but actually consisted of clearing out the entire sector of all of the TSon-controlled vassal worlds. There could still only be 10,000 who made it to the Planet of the Sorcerers, with others being hunted down by the Wolves and other loose elements.

No word from FW about the spire guard so far... I'm worried that they ran out of time and left them out.

I'm thinking they'll have a special one-only Provenance for militia and cults that can only be taken when either primary or allied detachment is thousand sons, and it'll be as half-assed as every other militia and cults option

reworked Crimson Path list incoming, and I like how it's coming together, I've organized it into groups instead of a standard list so it makes more sense on paper:

STORMLORD:
Gahlan Surlak
Kharn (Crimson Path)
5 x Red Butchers, Devoured with Chainfists
10 x Inductii, Sgt with Fist
10 x Inductii, Sgt with Fist

OUTFLANKING RHINO #1
9 x Sniper Vets
1 x Apothecary

OUTFLANKING RHINO #2
9 x Sniper Vets
1 x Apothecary

DREADCLAW
9 x Support Squad with Volkite Chargers
1 x Apothecary

This clocks in at 2236 so the last 264 points I have to devote to Heavy Support, preferably a pair of tanks or dreads to stick next to the Stormlord, this list is lacking in AA and something to cover my ass, but as long as I don't go against an alpha strike orbital assault list I think the outflanking rhinos and dreadclaw will push up enemies from behind (now with apothecary 4+ FNP) toward the nasty stormlord full of melee death. also I always wanted to use volkite since it's a very 30k gun.

How about a rite of war for the Spire guard

I agree with you on this one, witch. Inferno will clear all our doubts, I hope.

If we do, it'll be like the ultramarines one where your bonuses apply more to an ally of militia with preselected mandatory provenances

1500 points, how's this look
delegatus, refractor field, cyber familiar PoTL
praevian artificier, combi-weapon, 2 darkfire castellax, ETA, frag nades
2x 10 sniper vets, artificier and power weapon sarges 2 HB, rhino with dozer blade and multimelta
10 sniper vets with plasma guns, artificer and power weapon sarges
deredeo, ceramite

shit, iron hands of course, not really sure what to do with 1500

who goes where? what's the battle plan? I've been trying to go with a boys > toys mentality in my WE list, so I get kinda nervous when I see how pimped out your sniper vet squads are. do you really think they'll need those power weapons? do you really think you'll need dozer blades if your rhino is outflanking right where you want it? you could cut down on those points right there and give the deredeo that stupidly named missile launcher on top (areola?)

It's weird to think about, considering they're my second least favorite legion, but I really want to see a real awesome Great Crusade-era exemplary battle for the Space Wolves. If they want to keep beating on them throughout the Heresy and having them losing and falling to hubris time and time again until the Scouring, they need a few really strong victories early on for them to have built up that level of hubris.

Nah mate, it's aioli, like the sauce.

What's the best way to turn the Burning of Prospero MKIII marines into Assault Marines? As forgeworld doesn't offer just the jump packs, I'm guessing I'll need to go third party although that nags a little at my autism. Any close-to-legit recommendations?
Also, the MKIII arms in BoP are not positioned in a good way for assault marines. Any tips there on where I could get 20-30 arms with CCWs?
Combat shields are cool but not necessary.

I'm playing Emperor's Children if that matters. Would I be better off just using them as regular legion tacticals? I've already got 3 squads of 10x MKIV but I've kitted them as vets (special helmets and whatnot).

I'm too poor and Canadian to afford the 36 quid per 5 minis via FW.

Aiolos
Kek

ebay recasters sell just jumpacks

Buy jumpacks from them, close combat arms from kromlech, and chainswords/pistols from ebay bits resellers

Good luck user!

>MkIII
>Assault Marines

>let slip im starting Thousand Sons
>Friends start stockpiling Sisters of Silence

OK, so while sniper heavy bolters seem amazing, you're paying 40 points more for four shots, or if in rapid fire range its 40 points for two shots. I find it inefficient, and as a son of the gorgon, you may too. Secondly, sniper vets need plasma a lot less than most, so you could change to a different tactic-maybe machine killers and meltaguns, so as to have assault laser destroyers even if the enemy has armoured ceramite. This is a matter of opinion though, if you'd prefer to be able to snipe out characters with plasma go ahead. Thirdly, i prefer power fists to power weapons on sergeants, as they can instant death enemy characters and can put the hurt on non-AV14 vehicles. Nothing like instant deathing your enemy's named warlord with your no name sarge. Finally, heavy armour. It might be worth it to ignore my advice on power fists and instead give your sergeants some melta bombs instead, just in case That Guy brings three Land Raiders full of terminators. Your castellax are decent anti-tank, but its always worth having more. Otherwise, a pretty good start.

Thanks user, I'll check it out

I didn't think the EC used Iron patterns extensively and the note does confirm it but damn does it look good. Thanks!

I want Iron armour but I play fancy marines.
I want to charge into my foes and they seem the best for the role, especially when I need to get the charge for my legion rules.
The easiest thing would be tacticals, sure, but I don't have assault marines yet.

>tfw every new release for any legion is a new release for you

the sniper hbolters are partially just a rule of cool thing, will definitely throw the meltabombs in, maybe try the machine killers thing as well

what if I added 2 barebones predators with flamestorm cannons to list. has anybody ever used a flamestorm predator before? I know S6 AP3 flamer predators are the blood angels shtick but goddamn does that sound intimidating for 90 points each.

Yeah but close combat is a high-lethality affair, so it'd make sense the warriors meant to engage the enemy face to face be wearing as much protection as they can get (suppose the lightened backplates fully compensate for the added frontal weight).
The Wolves made extensive use of MkIII and their tactics were more about frontal assault than outright enclosed Zones Mortalis. And EC do make that heavy armour look good, dont' they?

>captcha wants me to select house numbers
>get disqualified because I didn't select numbers writting on the wall of a toilet stall

Captcha's and I don't go along very well.

>MK III marines
>Turning them into assault marines

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Do they all play loyalists ? Either way it still are just footslogging T3 chicks (no bro-rides in 30k) so just fire something in their general direction before you go wild with the mind boolets

Just get the resin Assault marines in Best MkII. MkIII was too heavy to be used with Jump Packs.

>MkIII was too heavy to be used with Jump Packs.
Maybe you should just get a bigger jump pack then.

#WorldEaterLogic

>36 GBP for 5 MKII assault marines, same as 5 Palatine Blades
I may aswell just opt for more Palatine Blades in that case. I guess they would serve in doing what I want them to do.
I just really like the Iron EC aesthetic. It's a shame Breacher squads defeat the point of EC.

>flamer support squad intensifies
please roll 500 3+ saves

>Hrothbad Steelmane
Even Canis Wolfborn is shaking his head at this one.

canis wolfborn is a lot more offensively poorly named than hrothbad steelmane
one of them is autistically wolfy, the other one is vikingy

One of them was actually raised by wolves and named by someone who thought they were making a great joke.

It's like you're trying to speak...

Maybe Steelmane is a title not unlike Fellhanded? You know marines can take and change their names, like Meduson, whose original name was Shadrak Smyth.

R8 my list.

unless i was running phosphex ironfire i would not want to play against that

>berzerker assault
>No berzerkers

these are some prodigious dubs

Are they all despoilers, user?

Indeed they are.

This could actually be a legit terrifying list. Replace your praetor and an apothecary with Kharn+Surlak for a way better CC beatstick and getting inductii, s6 chainaxes and s10 powerfists, then bump it up to 2.5k and run the HQ pair and 20 inductii in a Spartan to prevent them being focus fired turn one due to being 250 points more expensive than the others. Use the leftover points to give yourself the cheapest fler you can buy to provide some modicum of anti-air, or at least force your opponent to jink once. That'd be a legit terrifying list for most tournaments.

Do you think there will ever be a formation for two mastodons or should I just sell this second one.

Damn, boy, proof that 30k is God's work.

>formation

We dont have that in here friendo!

Besides two mastodons is apocalypse and at that point you're throwing the rules out the window.

invest in some of those warhammer fantasy movement trays user.

>30k
>formations
i should fucking hope not
sell it, or have two for fuckoff huge apocalypse games

Save it for when you begin a second legion, or sell it at just below FW

I mean an apocalypse formation

>off by one

Looks like an Ork armylist.

Just as World Eaters should be

>Ork armylist

That isnt bikers, tankbusters in trukks and mek gunz

>cant put leviathans in a mastodon
what a goddamn shame

You can put two chainfist cortuses in there, which is better

its less cool though
i'm coming in from 40k and whoremachine where i have a history of being a bit of a powergamer
HH is supposed to be a new leaf for me, where i play fun and fluffy instead of taking just the best toys

Then go for three dreadnoughts, each with chainfist. Angry washing machines really need more loving, and they actually win against one leviathanin close combat. Or, well, actually two of them win :^)

>Fellhanded
AKA "wanker"

Asssuming the Leviathan lacks any way to deal with AV at range and ignoring its 4++ and +1I on the charge, yeah it'll get bogged down.

Who does this represent?

no one?

The only primarch that sort of has a breakdown like that would be lorgar, after the emperor smacked him on the head.

Magnus the hypocrite he is, for he trusts Familiars bound in contracts to tell them they're not Daemons binding them in turn. All witchery is ultimately based on slavery. Will he fight? Or will he half-ass his surrender and get his back broken by the Emperor's dog?

A couple questions regarding the Legion Tactical Squad entry regarding confusing options...

"The Legion Tactical Squad’s Sergeant may exchange their bolter and/or chainsword for one of the following:"

Why would you say ever trade both? Or is it meaning to say that each could be replaced with a weapon from the list.

Also, if I'm reading it correctly, there is no way to give the Sergeant a melee weapon and plasma pistol without giving the whole squad melee weapons. Is that correct?

As a side note, they really should say "Take an additional combat blade or chainsword" since you can only choose one of those options and they don't come with one initially either.

If it only said "or" then you wouldn't be able to have a sgt with a plasma gun and a power weapon, which you can have as long as you also acquired a melee weapon you can exchange, which indeed is a choice imposed on the whole squad.

So strange. In my experience the option has always been to simply replace the bolt pistol with a plasma pistol. I wonder why they didn't just go with that this time around.

30k sgts are pretty much Vet sgts as they have +1A and +1Ld, but they are equipped in the same way that the rest of their squad unlike say 40k tactical sgts with the same stats but a chainsword and a pistol.
Given 30k's sgts only have the bolter and the pistol you could exchange the later for, say, a plasma pistol, but having no chainsword base you're forced to acquire one in order to be able to exchange it for a power weapon.
This also means a tactical sgt whose squad hasn't either exchanged their bolters for a chainsword or bought one can't recieve the bonus attack for two CCW, so a Power Fist's Specialist weapon penalty is basically ignored, the real penalty being losing a single bolt pistol attack.

Unless you're an Alpha legionnaire, in which case you may choose to not give a fuck and buy a power dagger instead.

Such are FW rules.

...

i cant find any on ebay, where to look?

Is that blood offer mandatory in order to do that conversion ?

No, but it helps.

Don't be a pussy, user.

just search legion jumpack or backpack, theres a listing that is a lot of backpacks and jumpacks on a drop down menu

I think I'll just leave this here.

Whoops, didn't mean to reply.

>37 Attacks
>No Hullpoints
Thanks FW.

is there any other model I could use for outriders that aren't the shitty GW model or the way too expensive FW one? like some kinda happy medium I could convert?

>I wonder why they didn't just go with that this time around.
So that you can rock pistols in either hand like a badass.

I miss when 40k Assault Marines could wield bolt pistol/plasma pistol. And it only cost 5 points for the upgrade.

...

wrong? wrong about them being expensive or GW bikes being ugly?

choiiiiiiiiina

I've done it. I've bought a squad of dickbikes for my World Eaters.

I'm so hard right now.

only acceptable if you give at least one of them a chainsword to wave around

real or chinese? I just can't justify paying the iron (GBP) price.

Someone isn't a good boy if they don't have enough Good Boy Points to get even some dickie wickie bikes :^)

get back to your containment board, robot
