your LGS sounds like its great fun for new players

surely cardboard cutouts arnt allowed, even in a non GW store

Long time Marine player. My brother wants to play Chaos Marines. Which codex has Chaos Space Marines at their best? I already have all of the Space Marine codex, so I'm dtf with whatever you can tell me is best for gross heretics.

Generally the Eradictor is a better choice if you want things cheap. Less points and the main gun isn't Ordnance. Eradictor with HB sponsons is a nice little dakka platform.

Khorne Daemonkin and Traitor's Hate.

>Thank you and goodbye

>This is the last of the Webstore Blog as you know it, but don’t worry, something even better is coming very soon. Thanks for reading and contributing and we can’t wait to show you what’s coming next...

Traitors Hate is the new 7th Ed supplement, yeah?

Traitor's Hate is a story book with some formations.

Right, but which standard Chaos Marine Codex is best in general for them?

Hi Veeky Forums. I'm looking to get into this game/universe and I really have no idea where to start. I have a couple friends who used to be in it a few years ago and helped me make a tentative army list based on how I play in some other games, but I'm not sure how good it actually is.
Chaplain - 90
-Bike - 20

Troops -

Tactical Squad (10) - 140
-Plasma - 15
-Missile Launcher - 15
-Rhino - 35

Bike Squad (4) - 84
- Grav-Gun (2) - 30

Bike Squad (4) - 84
- Meltaguns (2) - 20

Elites -

Command Squad (5) - 90
- Entire squad on Bikes - 35
- Apothecary - 15
- Grav-gun (5) - 75

Using the formations in Traitor's Hate, the regular Codex is lower mid-tier.

If you want to play Khornate, KDK is better, but it's very limiting.

Drop the Gravs, replace with Plasma. Otherwise it looks great.

>drop the best weapon in the game

Grav was a mistake.

I just hope the community doesn't just ruin it again, at its worst there were just roaming bands of trolls and shitposters flinging verbal crap back and forth, anyone with anything decent to contribute had long since fled.

Alright then, truthfully I was expecting something different. People are always going about about the older Chaos Codex, but I never looked at them.
Thanks user

Sure the older Codexes were good, but no one just plays with them anymore. Not outside certain circles anyway.

I know a few folks that mostly play 3rd to 6th and eschew 7th entirely.

>Not outside certain circles anyway.

>conversation is hard
I was pointing out the certain circles.

It didn't need to be said, really.

There's no way to shove a LRC into this somehow while staying below 1500 for even more fluff, right? Already bothers me that I need to take Scouts due to point limits.

Crusaders-as-Tacticals-in-Formations when

Sure.
Go CAD
Lots of points to work with then

Can't use Helbrecht, Grimaldus and the Emperor's Champion at the same time in a CAD, though.

Why a flamer would be bad in KT? Kill team terrain should be everywhere, providing cover.

You're not likely to get more than one model at once and if it's on something with a 6" move you'll spend several turns even getting close, during which time it's useless.

Sure it autohits and ignores cover, but generall you'd be better off with a second shot anyway.

One last request, anyone know the rules for the Hive Node?
And i mean the latest which should be 4e or w/e

Do the rumors of GW ((simplifying)) 40k for 8th edition, like Age of Smegmar, have any merit? I'd rather not get back into the game just to have it become a drool fest of pushing plastic at my opponent.

Fuck you, AoS is great.

Anyway, yes, 8th will be simplified, but less than AoS.

The game is selling as it is, if they simplify it, it will probably only for the sake of making something like an introductionary box set or something. I'd be down for that.

Intro rules being simplified, like Infinity's 2 player starter boses, makes sense for new players to digest I agree.

I just hope they don't pander to those lacking any form of cognitive abilities like they did with AoS.

Do the +1 attack boni from the Honor Guard's Chapter Banner and the Emperor Ascendant banner carried by a nearby command squad stack?

It think the rumor was that GW is happy about how AoS is working and wants to simplify 40k a bit.

But thats actually a good thing. 40k is bloated piece of formationed shit and needs to be tuned down.

The changes have been described as being half way to AoS.

No setting ending though. Just a change into a long term narrative game. Think 5 years or so.

Get ready for Abbadon's 14th failed crusade.

Well he's making it to Terra this time, at least. And it's 13th, not 14th. There was a retcon a while back.

What if Battlefleet Gothic revival.

Oh that's happening too. Necromunda, Adeptus Titanicus/Epic, Blood Bowl etc. Whole bunch of Specialist games are coming. Blood Bowl is out next Saturday.

We know it's supposed to come back. Honestly the vidya they did is the reason I'm back aboard the 40k train in the first place.

What about Gorka Morka? Is it comming back

Also any oldfart anons here? How fun Necromunda was? Is it the same as killteam HoR?

There's been no mention of it so far, but I think it depends on how successful the games they're working on now are.

God damn it I want to play that game so much. All I have is the PC Vidya and the Android port of the Tabletop.

This is a loaded question, but how do we fix the current mess that is 40k? Serious talk here that has no small answer. How do we trim the fat on the game, make it simple yet diverse, and make things actually matter again like T4 3+ actually being tough instead of paper?

>Genestesler vidya announced
>GSC come back

>BFG vidya release
>BFG comes back

>that Space Wolves vidya announced
>???

When is the relevant TT counterpart for that coming?

increase the costs and decrease the availability of AP2 and AP3 weapons, same thing for models/gear that have 2+ saves

>>BFG comes back
It's still not there tho :(

For starters, and also always allowing to use cover saves on top of armor/invuln would make cover more relevant in general and would just make sense logically.

>always allowing to use cover saves on top of armor/invuln

would make stealth and shrouded completely overpowered unless the things that have them being nerfed armor wise

my tau list has stealth and shrouded crisis suits backed up by an OSC, you are essentialy advocating for giving my entire army rerollable saves

Could also change cover to decrease the shooter's BS or rather his rolls. Would make sense that you need to aim better if the enemy only has his Astrates dick dangling out the window instead of standing behind a 50cm fence.

Now you are making my orks sad.

Can't have 5 grav-guns in the command squad because apothecary can't take wargear. At least according to FAQ draft. Otherwise a great list. I might change rhino to drop pod, put one combat squad in there.

Would obviously need to have 1 as the minimum, since that's just spray and pray anyway.

And orks would obviously need a major overhaul, as would many other factions, but that's obvious anyway.

To be honest, never understood the meme of "orks are a bad shots".

I mean their anatomy was designed for war, they have good eyesight and they can handle the recoil of their guns. They should probably at least be guardsman level when it comes to shooting. Maybe make it so whenever ork unit attempts shooting he needs to pass leadership test or suffer -1 BS. This would represent a shoota mob becomming too excited to properly aim. They have BS3 by default. So stick a shoota Nob in there or your guys will have trouble hitting the side of a barn.

They don't aim, that's the thing.

Their terrible shooting is most likely due to not lack of skill but rather lack of patience and care.

Though stealth boyz should have 4 or maybd even 5 BS since they tend to be more collected than a normal ork and meant to be their sneaky assassins.

nobody posted it yet

So Veeky Forums, I'm in need of opinions.

I have a battle company with 3 drop pods, rest rhinos. The question is what squads should be in the pods. I'm thinking 2 melta tacs and one grav dev squad.

Last thread

Do we know the prices?

What if there was a Nob around to bash their heads in so they don't waste ammunition and actually aim?

I can understand normal boyz beeing bad shots, but Flashgitz, Lootas and Tankbusters - these guys train with ranged weaponry for their whole lifes, why are they bad shots? Agreed on Kommandos, although BS4 is climbing out of orky territory, way too accurate.

Something like 90$ off normal price

>these guys train

no, they muk about with them

>train their Whole life
They don't train, they buy a gun and then start shooting gits, and there's no such thing as waste of ammo to Orks, if they make noise, spew fire and blow shit up it's a success.

SW - $276: Dread, 10 Grey Hunters, 5 Terminators, 5 Fenrisian Wolves, Wolf Head Flyer, Iron Priest.

DW - $282 : 5 Bikes, 5 Terminators, 15 Deathwatch Kill Team, Razorback, Watch Commander. Its hard to make out because of that glare.

Tau - $275 : 3 Stealth Suits, Ghostkeel, Devilfish, Broadside, 10 Pathfinders, Commander.

Ad Mech - $263 2 Kastelan Robots + Priest, 3 Kataphron, 5 Electro Priest, 5 Infiltrators, Ironstrider.

So say these are all 140$, those are good deals. 100£.

That admech bundle is a mess; i really wish they would either unify the codexes or just fucking seperate them

Yeah they'll likely be unified eventually.

Man that deathwatch bundle...
Just needs a lander.

Shooting gitz = Training

Even if you just muck around with a gun, sooner or later you will get better at aiming, no? Especially blowing up vehicles for tankbustaz - whats more exciting - exploding a wall or exploding a tank and witnessing it's crew doing "da burny dance"?

Necromunda was basically 2nd edition rules modified for small team vs team battles featuring playing around with equipment and exp.

It was probably most fun I've had with 40k models. The rules need tweaking on many occasions but with good houseruleset, it was awesome game to play campaings with friends.

Pulling the trigger

the only reasonable explanation for orks ever actually hitting things is the fact that they are all psykers and just sometimes believe that the tank will get hit, so it gets hit

if orks ever realised they are powerful psykers they would instantly be BS10 with shred

So Kill Team with experience and progression? Neat. I can't wait to play the Adeptus Robocopus.

Arbites are Dredd, not Robocop.

>15 Deathwatch Kill Team

What if it's 5 DW vets and 10 tacticals? The fact that every other kit seems to have 1 of each set, 3 DW vet sets seems to break the norm.

Not that user but I thought the Arbites were Dredd and Robocop.

Never heard of them having cybernetics or anything beyond what's normal for the setting. Helmet might look like it though, I guess.

Given that Robocop is heavily inspired by Dredd I'd say they're both. These helmets don't fool me!

>Helmet might look like it though, I guess.

These Fenris campaing books featuring Space Wolves in as main heroes?

2/3 CADs?

Dead or alive, you're getting life in the cube, creep.

They have cyber massifs so bionics aren't that infeasible. Have some old school Arbites.

Fuck, why did they have to add Skitarii to that AdMech bundle? Should've just added another Priest and Kataphron unit.

These guys look closer to Dredd than these guys.

But I get what you guys mean.

Flamers are good against poor Orks/Guard players who have to shove their models around the table in order to not piss off the supah speshul operators with their tiny armies.

When everything is its own unit, shit tends to be spread out.

Given the rumors of the combined AdMech and Skittles codices, user, GW may have done that on purpose.

its GW, i bet it wont happen

>re-rolling 2+ cover on SM bikers that also get their 3+ save.

PLS NO.

You would have to nerf most ways of getting cover and definitely make jinking dangerous, as it should be.

But I don't want to use flimsy mini robots, only strong, sturdy, girthful fucking-machines ;_;

It's Nu-Old GW user. Things can only get better.

DW don't have tacticals. It's far more likely to be 10 vets, 5 vanguard, 5 termies, and 5 bikes (plus commander and car).

im not sure why jinking doesnt involve a dangerous terrain test of some sort

Nurgle, stop being so pessimistic.
user, the Omnissiah intended mini-robots and big robots to work together.

i dont believe in star citizen, and i dont believe in GW, or Valve or any company to do the right thing.

I assume they will fuck it up, so i wont have to put up with the bs.

Well at least you're consistantly pessimistic so I guess it's okay.

you can take your fucking fat machines and stuff them, i only want my metal cyborgs, none of this fat-guy-on-threads nonsense - goddamn taser priests get out

>i dont believe in star citizen

i'm moderately hype for that game but dear fucking god the community is so tied up in thier own self-affirming bullshit now
