Well, I did it.

Is that the My sides! mastodon ?

>Finally
You're not going to paint the interior?

The top comes off

But the interior is kind of fucky. I barely got this fucking thing together

How to do an assassination force of Raven Guard? I want Slay the Warlord to be my only Victory Objective.

You could paint it as if there is an internal fire- so the warping looks somewhat in place.

What if Ferrus had won and killed Fulgrim on Istvaan?

The Heresy would have been a lot shorter.

The emperor wouldn't have died at all, the HH would have been a footnote in the history of the Great Crusade, and Magnus wouldn't have needed to send the message to Emps, therefore not needing to be executed by LR.

I'm not sure we'd wanted that to happen. Nobody wants to see the entire Emperor's Children legion grieve-fucking Fulgrim's corpse.

Horus wouldn't have had a head start

Or maybe Horus would have actually won by taking the Emperor's Children directly under his command as a result. This would mean less fucking around by them in general and not running off to rape the entire population of Terra during the final siege.

I think many EC would surrender when Fulgrim dies.
They would go through a really Emo phase, maybe even becoming the 30k equivalent of the Black templars in response- always fighting in penance of what they did, eschewing any outward perfection aside from perfection in combat.

In case the user is here

Sounds pretty alright, but how are you going to get him across the table?

Or they could go full IH, blaming their primarch for not being 'perfect' enough.

>Magnus wouldn't have needed to send the message to Emps
Magnus warned the Emperer before Istvaan user. Why bother warning him if he already knew about it?

Inna Land Raider. Surrounded by sweaty dudes and a doctor.

Pretty much par for the course.

Why didn't the Emperor believe Horus was the traitor? Seems like a plothole. At the very least, he would have been cautioned by Magnus's warning.

I see two ways to interpret what you are saying

>they begin to seriously modify themselves with the hopes of improving themselves
They don't have a history of modification like the IH's do, so I don't think this is a possibility BUT because their primarch would be defeated by an augmented individual, they may take it as a sign they need to be upgraded.

>They distance themselves from the EC scheme entirely, choosing instead a new theme, and their primarchs influences (at least on paper)
This would make sense, but it is a short rabbit hole following that logic for them to switch sides- if their primarch was so wrong about doctrine, maybe he was also wrong about which side to serve?

Right, thanks user.

This would be really interesting.

>Sweaty dudes
Command squad, or Terminators?

Looks like AWG wins this round

something something a broken clock.

Veterans with cabilanite warblades and +1 WS ? T'hat shit's like Templar Brethren sans artificer armour, but always Str 5.

>Why didn't the Emperor believe Horus was the traitor?
>Seems like a plothole.
Prospero happens two years before Istvaan these days but it has always been before hand.

>At the very least, he would have been cautioned by Magnus's warning.
Nah because the Emperor was an idiot. Us Magnus fans have known this for years.

Another plothole comes from the Mechanicum novel.

Why would the tech priests organization fall apart at the discovery of the Void Dragon and the so called "Great Lie of Mars"? They saw the Emperor as the machine god, didn't they?

Yes, the trouble comes with trying to reconcile the Omnissiah being the big E with the possibility of the machine god being the void dragon.

Just Veterans, now with even less furious a charge.

Veterans aren't Characters and thus can't get a Calibanite Warblade. Still waiting on our unique unit of sword and board knights that will have them standard though.

That's lame

>There isn't a single piece of legion-specific wargear Command Squads are allowed to have is there ?

>No
And that needs to change.
Even something as simple as having the banner do slightly different things for each legion, or a unique weapon for each faction, it doesn't have to be much.

>Even something as simple as having the banner do slightly different things for each legion
They could do it for the Herald too. I love the concept, but there's just no way to justify taking one in a Loyalist DA army.

So I want corrupted mechanicum, would you be okay with Blight drones as Vultarax?

If you added the extra weapons, sure.
Need to be WYSIWYG with it, but other than that it would be really cool.

>that chaplain

Motherfuckers stole my face.

So you're saying he took your ...

Face ...
Off ...

How would you feel if each legion got a specific warlord trait they could take instead of rolling, or even an entire legion chart to roll on?

Legion charts to roll on would be pretty fitting. I mean, they pretty much have that already in 40k.

One trait would be fine, but a whole table would be an extreme mess. You would have a few legions that, statistically, would be over powered most of the time, and then a few legions would just be, again statistically, shit most of the time.

the balancing required for 18 legions with 6 traits each would be ridiculous.

Are warlord traits ever a big enough deal that they required a large amount of balancing, though? At most they're circumstantial, or only give small bonuses.

Try making 108 warlord traits that are era specific and all unique, then tell me if any aren't god awful or blindly broken.

Your warlord and 3 units gaining infiltrate is not a small bonus, neither is reserve roll manipulation or armywide stealth in ruins

>strategic warlord table OP

Idk, thinking up some good warlord traits for each legion can't be that hard, right?

WARLORD TRAITS: WORLD EATERS
1)Champion of the Red Sands - In a challenge, the warlord gets +1 Initiative
2)Cleaver of Witches - Warlord and any unit he joins has Adamantium Will
3)Bloody-Handed - The Warlord and any unit he joins cause Fear No one takes Shabraan Daar, so may as well just steal his trait
4)Child of the Red Angel - The Warlord gains +1 Attack for every unit or independent character they slay in close combat, up to a maximum of 6 attacks (not including any bonuses from digital lasers or paired combat weapons)
5)Savage Fury - One turn per game, all World Eaters in the detachment this Warlord is part of gain Furious Charge
6)Thunderous Charge - Elect 1 unit in your Warlord's detachment. That unit gains Hammer of Wrath.

R8, h8, make your own.

I'll rate this fan rules/10, and won't be taken seriously because of it by most of the spergs playing 30k at my gameshop.

The game would be significantly improved if your warlord picked his trait.

Allows you to build around it much more effectively and makes strategic less of an autouse

Well, yeah, I wouldn't imagine anyone would actually use these. I might polish them up and ask to use them in some casual games, but definitely no more than that.

I just thought it'd be a fun exercise, trying to come up with a unique table for each legion.

I also add onto that if you could pick your psychic powers

A good thought experiment if nothing else.

WARLORD TRAITS: DARK ANGELS
1) Son of Caliban - The Warlord and 1 unit in his detachment have the Monster Hunter Special Rule
2) Intractable - The Warlord and any unit they join automatically pass morale tests fromt shooting attacks
3) Starfire Legate - Units in the Warlord's detachment reroll any failed To Hit rolls of 1 when using Plasma weapons
4) Brilliant Planning - As long as your Warlord is alive and on the battlefield you may add or subtract one from any of your reserve rolls
5) Arboreal Nemesis - The Warlord and any unit they join treat forests as open terrain and ignore any cover saves granted to enemy units by forests
6) Child of Terra - As usual

>Child of terra

This warlord trait is just pure comedy gold.

>Previous battle I was born on Terra, but today I don't feel like being born on Terra but on Caliban instead.

>Alpha Legion Trait is just Divide to Conquer

>he has time to use his trip
>but not time to give a good summary like BreadAnon does
Your ancestors laugh at you
have you even done a DNA test to find out what you are

The 40k warzone series introduces new warlord traits so why can't FW introduce more traits once they've done all the legions

seems fun, I'll join in.

WARLORD TRAITS: Sons of Horus
1) Speartip commander; Warlord and any infantry unit he joins that has the LA:SoH rule may elect to deep strike on turn 1, re-rollable scatter.
2) kindred of wolves; Warlord gains +2 attacks when preforming the Merciless fighter special rule.
3) Terminator Elite; Warlord and 1 unit of terminators gain HoW.
4)Herald of compliance; Warlord have prefered enemy (Xenos/Warp cult)
5) Warmasters chosen; Warlord and any unit he joins has hatred
6) Archtraitors; Warlords detatchment gains PE(Loyalists)

riddle me this /hhg/ Soh's running the black reaving says that they get rage when charging into a ongoing combat, but surely when you charge into an ongoing combat its a disordered charge, and thus don't get any bonus attacks?

What ? You only get disordered charge from charging multiple units or things with defensive grenades. Did you even touch the 7th edition rulebook ?

with a stick tyvm

1 - Iron Within
All Iron Warriors units have the Counter-attack special rule.

2 - Iron Without
All Iron Warriors units have the Furious Charge special rule.

3 - Cage of Iron
Your Warlord and d3 units have the Outflank special rule.

4 - Flesh is Weak
Your Warlord has the Feel No Pain and It Will Not Die special rules.

5 - Siege Specialist
All Iron Warriors units have the Move Through Cover and wrecker special rules.

6 - Terrifying Bombardment
At the start of your opponent’s first turn, pick d6 units in the enemy army. Each of these units must take a Pinning test at their lowest Ld value.

For shits 'n giggles

Warlord Traits : Alpha Legion
1) Decietfull duallist : at any point after accepting/issueing a challenge, the warlord made trade places with any friendly model also locked in the same combat, with the model it trades places with now being in the challenge.
2) Bait and Switch : after infiltrate and scout have been resolved, you can have 2 units with the LA special rules switch places.
3) Disrupting broadcasts : any unit making a shooting attack against the warlord or the unit containing the warlord must first make a leadershipt test (vehicles count as Ld. 10) If passed it may fire normally, if failed it must select a different target
4) Master of Stealth : The warlord and all friendly units with the LA special rule within 6'' gain Stealth
5) Master of Confusion : after deployment, you may designate one enemy unit that has to make a Ld. test. If the test is failed, you may move that unit during its first movement phase.
6) I am Alpharius : your warlord has the One Amongst Many special rule

Anyone got the BoP painting guide as a PDF or Imgur album?

I'm drawing up a Decapitation Strike list and I was wondering if Mor Deythan with sniper rifles are actually any good. The snipers become twin-linked and rend on a 5+ for a turn of my choosing, and I get preferred enemy (IC's). I was thinking of running a squad of 9 Mor Deythan, 6 with snipers and 3 with missile launchers and using them to help blow away deathstars. Is this a good use of points? They'll be in a Rhino with an apothecary to help them stay on the board.

>snipers
For the points, sniper veterans are practically half the price, so twice as disposable, but not as cool. If you're taking a fully kitted squad of deythan with an apoth, thats a lot of points. They have such good weapon options though, why are limiting yourself? If its for rule of cool, go for it, but if thats the case, don't ask hhg's opinion, lest you end up like Knightanon

Not everyone is a dumbass like KA though

How triggered would you be if some shitlord took the missile pods off of a platic whirlwind, converted them a bit with targeters and such, and put them onto the Scorpius turret, and used it as a Scorpius?

I'm not a big fan of the official guns.

Not at all.

when is enough hhg? how do you gather your forces? do you make a list and buy only things to fit into that list, or do you just buy cool things and then try to fit it into a list?

I have around 5.5~6k of luna wolves, of only stuff that will see action no matter what, tacticals, veterans, terminators, rhinos, a venator, 3 rapiers. but I haven't yet gotten enough specialist units like fire raptors, or predators to be able to play with every RoW. but I'm considering if I should downsize my base to around 3k or so and look into what I actually want to do listwise - I just fear that it'll end up being kinda boring playing the exact same list each and every time.

Sounds like it was extremely painful.

He knew it was happening, and was trying to work against the clock. Magnus was essentially the big hand of the clock.

I do the same as I do for 40k.
I buy something I like, and something that's necessary until I have 1500pts, then I buy stuff until I have a competitive 1850(2500 in 30k) list, then I finish getting one of everything, then I buy 3 of the things I liked, if I haven't already, and finally formations/RoWs.

This is why I have 40k in 40k and 10k in 30k.

Rolled 4, 1, 1, 4, 6, 4 + 6 = 26 (6d6 + 6)

Here I go!
Imperial Fists
1) Senchesal: If the Warlord or any Imperial Fist with 12" is in his deployment zones, he may re-roll a single failed save in CC
2) Castellan: All fortifications, and models taking cover behind fortifications get a 5+ invulnerable save
3) Marshal: The first Infantry unit destroyed may instead return to ongoing reserves.
4) Void Commander: Opt to pass or fail morale checks and can deep strike one infantry unit. (Alexis Polux's rule)
5) Templar: You get fearless and a master-crafted weapon
6) Siege Master: One unit of Artillery or Legion Artillery Tank Squadron gets shred.

Ok, for a starting Ordo Reductor Army. Anything I am missing? Rather new to 30k list building.

Magos Reductor with Machinator array
Archmagos Reductor with Abeyant, Machinator array and cyber familiar and Graviton Imploder.

2x3 Thallax. Multimelta and Destructor
20 Thralls with Carapace and Fearless

Vulturax

2x Medusa artillery w/ Machine Spirit, siege plating and twin-linked bolters.
3x Myrmidon Destructors with Graviton Imploders in a Triaros.

With the Ordo Reductor variant of Taghmata, is there any reason you can't take a Magos Archimandrite and the Matrix of Ruin and going full treadhead with PotMS Vindicators, Medusae, Kris Venators, Triaros and Macrocarid and an Ordinatus that is scoring? Seems like the Iron Hands are outclassed.

Well, people won't play against an ordinatus, so you'll win zero (0) games.
Also, you must take a (arch)magos reductor.

Why can not just the Calth Missile Launchers, as whirlwinds actually exist in this millennium

Oh, I was just theorycrafting. Wasn't going to genuinely try that. I thought you just needed one Magos Reductor and then you were free to pick an Archimandrite if you want? He doesn't need to be Warlord, just present.

Ordo Reductor do seem to have the best buffs IMO, since treating everything bar impassable terrain as open ground means I can have cheaper faster better Vindicators without even trying, or Medusae that move nearly as fast as jetbikes.

10 sisters of silence with great swords in a land raider (assuming the 30k rules are similar to 40k so 2 attacks at was 4 strength 4 initiative 5 ap 2). Thoughts? Could be extremely effective anti teq and even anti meq? Plus the added psycher rules.

>Custodes didn't get AP2
>SoS will
No.

Alpha Legion warlord traits

1-Adaptive: this warlord may choose a second mutable tactic. He confers this to any squad he joins.
2-Hydra Dominatus: your opponent may not gain any victory points for Slay the Warlord unless all HQ models in this detachment are slain.
3- Brother Against Brother: choose one enemy unit. That unit cannot fire at or charge the Warlord or his unit during the first turn.
4-Headhunt: if you achieve the Slay the Warlord secondary objective, ignore the Martial Hubris rule for the rest of the game.
5-Creed of the Serpent: choose one unit in the warlords detachment. That unit gains outflank.
6-Venomous Bite: this units ranged weapons gain the Fleshbane rule.

Underrated post

WHATS GONNA GO IN THE BOX?
THE METAL BOX?

depends... is the Warlord a person or is it a tank?

But will they ever change it? A regular DG sgt can get a power scythe but the Feraless 2W banner bearer gets nothing. And it has been so since HH1.

You're a T5 man

whats the most reliable way for a legion with no primarch to eliminate an enemy primarch?

I laughed. Then I remembered how Terran Vets learned to treat their Primarch's planet as their new home and how Shadrak Smyth changed his last name to Meduson to highlight the reunion with his Primarch even after the Battle of Rust, which he would never forget.
You can be a child of two worlds, user.

warlord titan

Kill his transport and retinue early with big guns and make him footslog up to you since most aren't shooty at all and none are worth their points is pure ranged combat.

If it's not Vulkan, shoot him with plasma when possible and try to tie him down with a big fearless squad of some kind. If it's Angron, try to chip off a few wounds with small arms or Fury of the Legion, from a full tac squad in rapid fire range that will remove 2.5 wounds.

Primarchs are surprisingly squishy for the most part save Ferrus, Vulkan and Mortarion. I play Mechanicum so I can crush them with grav or Scoria, but for the most part remove their mobility and stay away, kill the rest first then focus him down. All the Primarchs have their own tricks, so.I can't help more unless I know what Primarchs you'll be fighting.

If I play AL and I want to buy just one black book to proudly have on my shelf, is it going to be Massacre or Retribution?

What would people think of medusa tanks remaining a 0-1, but Basilisks and Whirlwinds becoming 0-3 and you could mix and match them in squads, thus making artillery armies more interesting and varied. Or if that was too much how about letting marines take just the weapon like this, so they don't have to ally with IC. can independent characters join artillery crews like normal units?

The Warsmith may only roll on this table for his Warlord Trait. Units with a Cortex Controller may join units with Cortex Cybernetica.

WARLORD TRAITS: IRON WARRIORS

1) Lord the Breach: Your Warlord is Fearless and he and the squad he is attached to gains Counter attack and Rampage.
2) The Iron Within: Friendly units within 12" of the Warlord gain Stubborn
3) The Iron Without: As long as the Warlord is in the enemy's deployment zone, all friendly units with at least one model within 6" of him gain the Hatred special rule
4) Shatter Defenses: After deployment but before Scout moves and Infiltrators are placed, reduce the cover save of a piece of terrain by -1. Do this 1+D3 times. A particular piece of terrain may be "shattered" more than one time. Pieces of terrain purchased as part of the enemy's army require two "shatterings" in order to be affected once.
5) Master Artillerist: At the start of each shooting phase select one unit. Each of their Heavy and Ordnance weapons gain the Twin Linked and Shell Shock special rules. If the weapon already had Shell Shock and/or Pinning, then it inflicts an additional -1Ld penalty on the enemy.
6) Prepared Ground: After deployment but before Scout moves and Infiltrators are placed, select up to 3 pieces of terrain. The first enemy infantry unit to occupy this terrain piece suffers 2D6 S4 AP5 hits with the Ignores Cover and Pinning special rules. If you are the Attacker then the Warlord has the Shatter defenses trait instead.

If their job is to kill deathstars, would plasma guns not be better than missile launchers?

>30k night finally started at my store, lot of people expressed interest in it
>figured I should bring a fun PoTL terminator list so I could make it enjoyable for everyone with Prospero

>first game night has a falchion, a knight and mechanicum

And this is still the fuckin problem, even though we're supposed to be the super fluffy version, we still have to deal with units like that which removes the fun, and (more importantly in my mind for 30k) the drama away from the individual Marines and the whole brotherhood thing

I'm very glad i joined up with an established group who do fluffy games before i got into the gw 'competitive' scene at the second-nearest store

Actually to their credit they were wonderfully painted and neither guy seemed like he had just started. They also played each other rather than stomped new guys.

What points level were you playing at? If the aim is for people with BoP to get into 30k, 2500 (which I'd assume you were playing at given the falchion) seems like a lot.

>Basilisks and Whirlwinds becoming 0-3
As in, bringing up to 9 Basilisks? 3 of them are more than enough to render 20-man blobs nearly useless.

I've heard a good way to get a sooty, dusty kind of black for Raven Guard, you can do later Nuln Oil on a grey metallic basecoat like Leadbelcher or Runefang Steel.

Thinking of both that idea and the standard layered green/blue glazes over silver basecoat for Alpha Legion, I wanted to ask you guys about an idea.

I'm going to attempt the layered glaze technique for my AL, but I think that scheme is a little bright for my Saboteurs. What would layered blue and green WASHES as opposed to glazes do over a silver basecoat? Would it provide a murkier, more matte blue-green than the bright metallic effect achieved by layering glazes?

Pretty difficult to take down a Warlord. Drop pod in a bunch of terminators with chainfists.
