Just W40k things...

Does he even eat?

No most priest feed on electric charge

Electric charge and nutrient injections, the body still needs those elements, but it's not hard to get them in there when you're already a hyper-advanced amalgam of flesh and plasteel.

Do Tech-priests remove their sexual organ? If they do, what else do you think they remove?

>Do Tech-priests remove their sexual organ?

A lot of them do, yes.

>Do Tech-priests remove their sexual organ?

Everything except for the core of the brain is fair game, though the implants given by Tech-Priests to others of their kind are by no means uniform across the galaxy, or even the same Forgeworld. The most ancient Magi are effectively brains in walking jars, sometimes.

Almost everything. Sexual organs are one of the first things to go I'd imagine. Pleasures of the flesh and all that. They probably keep their actual reproductive organs on ice though, in case they have to make more tech-priests.

...

I wish the B&C painters were still being updated.

On another note, if you were a tech priest which augments would you be most keen to go in for? Tons of mechadendrites? Super-senses? Aesthetically pleasing augments?

Also what kind of forgeworld would you most want to work on? I know most forgeworlds produce a variety of goods, but would you want your main focus to be on Titans? Special pattern wargear? Augments? Ships?

What every tech priest man doesn't want you to know is that they secretly keep their dicks preserved in a juvenant-jar hidden in their crotch panel. Everyone talks about doing away with the pleasures of the flesh until its your own dick on the line.

Mental and mechatronic interface augments for sure, user. Hopefully they wouldn't look like a typewriter strapped to my head, but ya take whatcha can get.

The Machine Spirit Help Hotline I.e. the percussive maintenance department would be the dreamjob.

I hope they release the combined codex (although I already wasted $30 bucks on a Skitarii one) relatively soon and it includes a bit more unit variety as well as buffs to the weaker stuff like the Electros.

I pray erryday to the Omnissiah that they add a real fucking transport and not some Forgeworld shit that costs $200

the digital coloring I can ignore, but the completely random lighting? Euggh.

Sexual organs are pretty important for hormones. You probably want to keep your endocrine system intact as long as you got other fleshy bit needing it.

I think the digestive, urinary and respiratory systems would be the first things to go. Also the heart, bones, limbs, sensory systems, and bits of the brain.

That's a coloring guide nigga what you griping about

It's ugly and poorly done, and serves no purpose?

>Adeptus Mechanicus, have you tried turning it off and on again?

We had a semi-official procedure in the army, that would translate into the Oscar Oscar procedure in english (for On-Off).

It tells you where to put the colors. That is its purpose. Stop bitching about minor things, a coloring guide is not going to look like finished art.

Posting objectively best magos

requesting a drawing of a tech priest repairing/upgrading someone had a conversation like this

>you know if they catch us they will put me down

>not my fault your a heretic

been thinking of making an AdMech army

but the money and time involved has always discouraged me from 40k

...

We have cannon accounts of reproduction by tech priests, and we have canon accounts of tech priests having sex. I think its reasonable to assume it varies tech priest to tech priest. I'd be willing to bet only the really hard core ones do. For every guy trying to be lord fabricator there have to be tons of guys who just do maintenance on chimeras and shit. Differing levels of devotion, different personal interpretations etc kinda like real religion.

...

so? religious zealots worship a god, but they hate all other gods and want to get rid of them.

how is that different?

>made of cutting edge technology
>part of most technologically advanced faction in the Imperium
>uses a goose quill

WH40K in one picture

The shiny bits serve no purpose, not the whole picture.
And earlier 40k coloring guides looked like finished art.

Goose are gonna be extinct in 40k. Gene-engineered goose quills is probably more expensive than some of his bionics. I wouldn't be surprised if he used it just to flaunt his wealth and contacts with the biologis.

>Goose are gonna be extinct in 40k. Gene-engineered goose quills is probably more expensive than some of his bionics. I wouldn't be surprised if he used it just to flaunt his wealth and contacts with the biologis.

Sweet omnissia, that is awesome.
I'm stealing that for when I'm playing a techpriest, if ever.

Man, that is a shit ton of not making sense.

Tell me about Ordinatus.

...

Magos Octavian, drop the omnissiah's beat on these hereteks.

Sonic weaponry has never been so stylish, I must say!

Because in this particular case they hate their own god.

Nice you can't grasp such basics.

But then again, I'm expecting logic and reason from a setting infamously devout of those two things as main, definitive characteristics of it.

Familiar with 40k but not so knowledgeable faggot here. What is the particularity of Adeptus Mechanicus ? They want to be machines but it's illegal so they try some nice cyborg shit instead ?

Not quite. They venerate the machine, but way back in the day humanities Ai's revolted, so artificial intelligence is abominable intelligence. But we need smart machinees, so they get around it by wiring in people. They do wish to become more like the machine, which is why they slowly replace parts of their bodies. If they could full machine i bet some of them would. Its just they don't quite have the tech for it.

...

I also hope to god that whole '2 new robots and a new flyer' thing is true

Also maybe some heroes! What sort of heroes do you think they should have?

I remember a fandex had one called 'The Adamantium Giant', which was about a robot and its handler

I heard there was a ton of shit under the surface of Mars. What kind of machines did the old men build thousands of years ago ?

Fanatism and religious reason can be paradoxical without having trouble to perpetuate itself. Their god is their god but the machine is bad. You just need some mental gymnastic to avoid seeing the conflict

You might find this useful in explaining the Admech

As for your more recent question - quite honestly, whatever you want. The Dark Age of Technology was mankind's high point. That + the millennia of degradation and building on top of building on top of collapsed building gives you tonnes of leeway

Feral servitors, feeding off power cables and the flesh of workers that stray out alone? Sure! Ancient robots that achieved sentience, and then went murderously insane from being trapped in the labyrinthine underworld of Mars? Why not! Semi-intelligent viruses (biological or otherwise) malfunctioning old self-defence systems? The abandoned workshop of a techpriest that accidentally built a timey-wimey machine and turned their corner of the planet into a non-euclidean mess? Whatever you want!

>Feral servitors, feeding off power cables and the flesh of workers that stray out alone? Sure! Ancient robots that achieved sentience, and then went murderously insane from being trapped in the labyrinthine underworld of Mars?

Ok I think I didn't really want to know after all

Yeah there be a ton of shit under mars. According to some sections of the lore they are still fighting to try and clean out all the tunnels. As to what mad wondrous tech there was in the dark age of technology (oddly named seeing as it was a golden age where man spread throughout the galaxy and was at it's pinnacle of technological development. probably called that cause said tech came to bite them in the ass.) before the age of strife, we are not entirely certain. Records were lost during the age of strife. The mechanicus seeks out STC's, which have the blueprints for various things. Most of the imperium's best tech comes from fragments of STCs they found.

why isnt there more dark admech?

I imagine WAY more of the admech would have turned traitor due to the omnissiah, freedom to explore technology path.

I mean the heresy admech should be a major presence and they are barely ever mentioned.

Focus by the company on primarchs and space marines. Cultists make good fodder and good explinations for various worlds going nuts and keeping the war going. Admech had honestly been on a back shelf for a long time even on the impririum side, its only recently we started to get more love. If we started seeing hereteks i would not be surprised.

Shit I read your pic and it's kinda fucking sad. All of this science lost forever, all those people trying to scavenge what's left but with no time is this perpetually torn galaxy...

Where did it all go so wrong ?

Me too, user. You want just as sad stuff, look in the mechanicus codexes. You've got stuff like a techpriest that figures out a fantastic way of defeating tyranids (basically putting a layer of promethium vapour in the atmosphere and igniting it, or something like that) that was a glorious success. Could revolutionise the war against Leviathan. So much data is gleaned from this that entire server caverns are made to hold it all

.....aaaaand then during the reconstruction of the planet these caverns are accidentally filled with rockrete, so that a grenade factory could be built on top

Things ARE being invented though, albeit at a very slow pace. Things such as the ork invasion of Ryza are forcing them to

The thought of losing so much knowledge like that is fucking frightening. Losing so much time and progress because of wars or simple fuck ups. Horrifying

Indeed. It is a Grim dark setting after all. One thing i hate is that people seem so happy to ridicule the Admech when they are just doing the best they can in the shitty universe they live in same as everyone else. Course to be fair they ridicule everyone in 40k on occasion, so i guess it evens out.

Yeah I always thought this machine god thing was stupid but now... Hold on tight guys. Or else we're fucked

Not trying to call you out here, glad to see people getting it, but well i mean it is a setting where there are legitimately demons. Why is it so hard to accept that in a world where there are literally demons and dudes who shoot lightning with their brains there might be machine spirits too?

Yeah I know I know but I couldn't help but think it was dumb and primitive you know ? I'm an engineer and this approach to science, with all the religious implementation of it, always annoyed me but I guess I wasn't looking at the big picture enough

The Ironstrider Engines are the fucking worst, though.

Their creator INVENTED A FUCKING PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINE (or at least, the closest thing to it). Once you turn these things on, they keep going and going and going FOREVER. He invented them in early M33, and there are STILL early prototypes of them travelling along Mars's equator in M41, continually circumnavigating the planet.

What this engine could have done for the Imperium would have been nothing short of miraculous. Imagine how much could have been done if these things (again, PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINES) were adapted for other uses? You could literally power everything with them, for basically free. With zero-downside.

But instead of that, the inventor is seen as a deviant, shunned by the priesthood and died in squalor. The plans are lost with him, so all the Ironstrider's left are all the ones that will ever exist. They're so afraid of losing what stock they have that they don't dare to turn them off, in case they can't turn them on again

When they're not being ridden into battle, they're either tied to a lease that keeps them running in circles, or put on a goddamn treadmill to power other stuff. What a fucking waste.

Fuck it's sad imagine having to keep your car running because you don't even know how to use the contact key, holy shit

They're shitty neighbors. They keep us up all night blasting shitty dubstep with their over-priced sound system.

You mean Ordiphallus ?
Pffffrr

I understand man.

And now every time i use those in game and one goes boom (which is a pretty common occurrence) i'm going to be thinking about the loss of a priceless perpetual motion machine on some back water for no real reason. Damn it man, why did you do this to me?

The murder of one archduke lead to the deaths of 17 million, it's different and you know it.

....wut? maybe i'm just mentally deficient, but i fail to comprehend what you are trying to say. What does arch duke Ferdinand have to do with this?

Speaking of cute stuff, does anyone know where that Admech fiction was, the one with the dude who has a wife who's a Skitarii Primus? It's cute and I need something cute right now.

Ironstrider engines are even worse than you think.

>actually requires a "human element" to control
>said human element (pic related) needs to be replaced
>machine still walks entire time uncontrollably
>have put machine on treadmill while socketing in gimp
>...
>Agripanna is thought to have "saved" a prison planet for the singular purpose of creating more of said "human element"

I'll take "worst non-chaos outcomes in 40k" for 1000 thrones.

...wut? I've never heard of this, but i want it now. A lot. Do you have any idea what site it may have been on? If so i can start searching.

No I cant! I read it ages ago when I was first getting into WH40K. It had like a dude on a factory world trying to convince this guy to use his influence on his wife to help their district. It was all I ever wanted in WH fanfiction *wailing and gnashing of teeth*

Ehh, that bit I care less about. The drivers are expendable, and (like most servitors) mostly vat grown.

The engines themselves are infinitely precious though. The fact that there hasn't been an attempt to reverse-engineer them (even if it's a case of "Hey just watch this thing on the treadmill for a few hours") is criminal.

Now you're thinking like a tech priest.

Maybe there was. Meybe they were successful even, but it never saw widespread use.
Or the Archmagi are still debating if it's heresy or not? Or it worked but a thorough investigation showed that a circuit formed a chaos rune. So the while thing had to be scrapped before it could explode into demons?

The AdMech is a big black box lore wise. And the less gets explained the better, as GW can only come up with "LOL SO DUMB SO RANDOM XD" shit.

there is probably some forge world somewhere that figured it out and is hording it.

Thats why I fucking love 40k.
I mean, THEIR SOLUTION IS NOT STUDYING THEM
BUT PUTTING THEM ON GIANT TREADMILL
LIKE
WOW
Its so stupid, clumsy and retarded that works.
I love Ad Mech so much.
Small question: I just bought renegade boxed game to add some heavy-walker bonanaza to my skit/mechs. But there is only ONE sprue for the thunderstrike gauntlet/ ad mech iconography. is that normal or is my copy flawed?

Spoilers for Priests of Mars ahead, you have been warned.

In this novel written by Graham McNeill, it is revealed that the Ark Mechanicus Speranza, an incredibly old and massive ship used by the Adeptus Mechanicus to explore new stellar territories, has some of the most advanced technological achievements of mankind encoded in its very structure. This revelation, unfortunately, was only discovered during a brief moment when one of the main protagonists of the novel, Archmagos Lexell Kotov, made some sort of spiritual connection with the Machine Spirit of the Speranza in order to save the day. he forgot what he had seen immediately after.

upon the Archmagos linking with the ship, the Speranza's AI went godmode, deploying all kind of unimaginably super-high-tech targeting systems that NOBODY knew it had, systems that were capable of functioning with 100% precision in the middle of a space-time gravitational storm, and detected and fatally damaged an Eldar cruiser in one shot using a dorsal mounted BLACK HOLE CANNON so unbelievably advanced even the Necrons would have been scratching their heads trying to understand how it worked.

What makes it even better is that the Eldar ship was guided by a Farseer, and thus managed to actually DODGE the weapon's blast, which was explicitly stated to be moving at the speed of light. Of course, at the sort of distances combat is often fought in space, dodging light is very, very easy if you have foreknowledge of where it will be .The Speranza wasn't having any of it, and instead of missing like some plebeian battleship with its macro-cannons and lances, followed up with a chrono-gun shooting tachyons to shift the Eldar ship a nanosecond into the past to make the black hole shot connect. IT FUCKING TELEPORTED AN ENEMY SHIP THROUGH TIME SO IT WOULDN'T HAVE TO TURN AND FIRE AGAIN.

.

tl:dr STC is broken god mode mary sue shit.

the "of mars trilogy" is so fucking good.
Mcneil is a beast when he writes on something he likes.
First book was literally GODLIKE, second was incredibly good and third...meh. Literally half of the book was fucking filler.

Can we nominate Galatea as biggest fucking piece of shit of the year? Because DAMN

Here's your (you), you deserve it because I HATE GALATEA SO MUCH
In the second book you literally just want to tear the fucking pages apart from rage, I had to wait like, 2 years to see what the fuck was going to happen to that little shit and it has been so hard.

There's no indication that the admech can't and don't create new ironstriders regularly, though simply that they don't understand the 'ironstrider engine'. But the thing is, the admech don't understand the vast majority of what they produce, they simply follow the 'pattern', as to most of them, it is quite literally gospel.
As I read the codex, the admech can still produce ironstiders engines, but they can only make them work within the ironstriders themselves, and when they try to replicate the engine in something else, they won't function.

Also, you all seem to be under the misconception that the admech is want for energy generating and that a perpetual motion engine would matter to them in that regard. To that I would recommend you to all draw your attentions to Lucius. The Admech have all the power they could ever need for the next few billion years. They just don't hand it out to the plebes trundling about in Leman Russes and Rhinos. Whether their power generation cabalities were literally limmitless or, as they presently are, practically limitless wouldn't make a difference.

Anyone got art of the Mechanicus in their original white robes?

Did they turn red because of devotion to Mars, or because shop towels are usually red?

At some point I'd get tired of trying to wash the rust colored stains out of white.
Better to just hide them.

Probably why most shop cloths aren't white, then.

No, originally red robes were only worn when going to war. They wore white otherwise.

Well, now there is only war, so it's red all the time.

I want someone to dm this setting so bad

It's either Only War as a Skitarii regiment on patrol on Mars, or Eclipse Phase where something's gone fucky around some TITAN shit.

Also a few other settings and systems, but these are the first that spring to mind.

How do you run them in games? Can't decide between all the options

Actually, I'm thinking about running a Rogue Trader/homebrew game as a bunch of tech-priests who are the command crew on an explorador ship. Lots of Admech politics, discovery, dangerous technology, exploration, etc. Once my current game ends, and if the rest of the players are up for it, it should be a blast (or so I hope).

Could work. I say Only War because that's my own experience, but I also think disposable heroes make for good horror when the horrifying things can really tear through them if they're not careful.
