Kick Off! - Guild Ball 2 Player Starter Box Product Description
Coming November 2016!

In Kick Off!, two players take on the role of team coach for either the rowdy Brewers or the tactical Masons and play a match of Guild Ball, a bloody mob football game of intense action and high stakes.

As the coach, you’ll get to make strategic decisions and exciting plays to rack up victory points. Be the first team to score 12 points and victory is yours! Your players can win points by scoring goals or by sending the other team's players back to the bench. And as your players make plays on the field, they’ll generate a unique resource that will let your team play harder and bring the Guild Ball crowds roaring to their feet.

The Kick Off! starter set contains everything you need to play a match of Guild Ball, including 12 diverse character models, each full of personality with their own unique playstyle. The included tokens and health dials make it easy to track the effects of each character's plays as you combine their unique strengths to dominate the field.

Has anybody played this before? Weird that it comes out the same time as Blood Bowl

Just Fantasy sports board/minigame following the footsteps of Blood Bowl # 314, only this is somewhat decent in some aspets, I've heard. Even if it's a bit unbalanced atm.

It's UK football though so it's soccer right

You mean The One True Football, you filthy handegg enthusiast.

i also get hostile towards any game showing up that isn't 40k
how bloody dare they

Basically it's the Warmahordes of sports games.

So it's actually good?

Yes

how good and how it does compares to other sports games?

This please, how it compares to Blood Bowl?

Campaign/season play is not as strong as bloodbowl.
Gameplay is better, a step up in complexity and depth from blood bowl, more of a gamers game than a beer and pretzels game. Probably a heavier focus on attacking and taking out other players than in blood bowl. In general it feels like Wyrd and Privateer Press got together and made a skirmish game with soccer bases objectives.

It's much better than Blood Bowl, assuming you've matured past the stage of finding it absolutely HILARIOUS when a player rolls a 1 on some random shit so he trips, breaks his neck, and shits himself.

Your team uses a shared resource pool to perform actions (similar to Warmachine's Focus, hence the constant comparisons), you can score points with goals or by eliminating players, it uses alternating model activation, and actions are resolved using dice pools based on relevant skill + modifiers.

So it's designed only for tournament play and is the favored game of screaming assholes?

Does saying yes keep you in your 40gay quarantine zone? If so, yes.

So there's no campain mode or anything like that, right?

what about the balance of the units?

>implying I play kiddyK.
Have fun with pointless tier lists, no character death, and a plot that is a thinly veiled soap opera.

There is a campaign model, its just not a fulfilling as blood bowl

Balance is pretty solid, and they've shown a willingness to rebalance stuff as the season progresses (season 3 is in the process of kicking off)

>Probably a heavier focus on attacking and taking out other players than in blood bowl.
Dropped.

If I wanted a skirmish game there are two hundred available, dozens of which have more interesting fluff and mechanics.

>There is a campaign model, its just not a fulfilling as blood bowl
Can you elaborate?
A decent campaign system is the one thing that might interest me in this.

>>Probably a heavier focus on attacking and taking out other players than in blood bowl.
>Dropped.
the dude omited one part. you score less points by taking out units than scoring goals. there's teams that focus on getting goals on the rival's side such as the fishermen and Alchemists but this do not mean they suck at fighting (well the fishermen do)

The fact that it scores points at all is a big turn off - I saw a complaint in a previous thread that it's an almost unbeatably strong tactic simply because you generate a huge AP advantage relatively quickly, so that even goal-scoring oriented teams will struggle against non-specialised teams after a(n easily caused) casualty or two.

The AP advantage is only for a turn, knocked out players return at the start of the next turn (with more health now in season 3)

Ah, well that is a pretty significant distinction in how Knockouts work there.

A very good game that has gotten very popular. I am actually surprised to see something that was on Kickstarter become so popular. Print out the paper minis and give it a shot. It's like Warmachine but better.

look man if you're not in a LGS to buy shit then what're you doing there?

>Probably a heavier focus on attacking and taking out other players than in blood bowl.
confirmed for not having played BB 2E

>It's much better than Blood Bowl, assuming you've matured past the stage of finding it absolutely HILARIOUS when a player rolls a 1 on some random shit so he trips, breaks his neck, and shits himself.
nope

>Nuh huh!

>caring about non game stuff in a game.

Why do you guys even do this?

Someone's buttruffled.

Yo, OP - if you are upset by it, then please keep moving down the tables. The lads and lassies who do play it find it fun, exciting, and balanced. Please go play another game of Catan or whatever makes you feel big.

Anyone excited for the mortician puppet man and fish hag?

>spooky

Game is pretty fun. I like it a lot. Also that box is probably the best and most complete as far as these starter set package deals things go. You dont even really have to buy anything else if you don't want the teams are complete, you can by players to switch out if you'd like or more teams but thats it.

Its a game based on medevil mob soccer. Its a fun game with a lot of deep strategic play. We had a thread going about it the other day.

The games been out for almost 3 years. Honestly I think gw's restarting BB because the niche has been going strong.

Another big difference is that taking a player out takes more work then it does to score a goal. Also the game goes to 12 points. A take out is worth 2 (1 for taking out a mascot) and 4 for scoring a goal.

Another aspect that makes goal scoring important is that when you score you get an additional influence. Influence is pretty much what allows you to take most actions, like attack, pass, use character plays. The only thing you can do for free is walk.
