Would you play an fable-style animal character?

Art thread for non-furry animal characters? Need some more for my setting.

Dropping what I have.

Oh shit, apparently bipedal versions of the animal are considered "Very Furry" by the furry scale. Whatever. You get what I mean. Shit that existed before 90% of the media about them was porn.

...

Anyway, the point is that the characters are not supposed to be anthropomorphic at all, just having some opposable thumbs to carry shit for example and being bipedal.

Can look more like magical animals too, as long as they look like they could be adventurers.

...

...

Aand I'm out of reasonably-sized pics.

All in all, it's pretty hard to determine where the line between "bipedal animal" and "very animal-like furry" goes, but I tried keeping on mostly on the safe side with these examples. For example, I guess the line is whether it would look weird if the character would look natural when quadripedal and without equipment.

>Would you play an fable-style animal character?

Fable-style as in something like Mouseguard or Redwall?

I'd prefer something that looked like it evolved to be where it was.

Well, one of the pics IS from Mouseguard, so yes.

>evolved
Well yeah, if you take that kind of idea to the game.

My setting is based on fairytales classical fairytales (at least, my take on it), so pesky things like evolution are pretty much discarded.

I never knew how much I wanted to play a Red Panda archer/ranger until I saw that image.

...

I'm pleasantly surprised by lack of sexuality insecure dip shits crying "YIFF IN HELL FURFAG11!" Sorry, now that I have said that the thread will go to shit.

In my last oneshot (Fellowship) the highlight was the non-furry anthopomorphic mouse befriending the minion of the Dark Lord to distract him.
It was beyond genius.

You can always tell when it's a furry. There's a specific art style that apes 90s animu and Disney design, with big eyes, soft expressions. The sexualization or at least the sense that this is the idealized avatar of some pale and horrible thing behind a computer is immediately apparent. Pretty much everything OP has posted comes from an entirely different mental territory. The artists there wanted to produce art for heroic fantasy. They didn't produce those pieces consciously thinking "this is furry art, I'm a furry". When someone has those directives in mind, it becomes utterly transparent to everyone what they're doing: indulging in a masturbatory forest into one of the worst subcultures ever to arise in human history.

...

This post is accurate.

Our group did a borrowers sort of game, where we all played either tiny humans or animals of around similar size.

...

Sure it will, because you did what all furries do: announce to everyone that you're a furry, and cry "fursecution!"

Yiff In Hell you fucking degenerate faggot, you are not welcome here. How retarded do you have to be to think that furries have a place on Veeky Forums? You're not even fucking allowed on /d/. Think about that, and then kill yourself.

Epic

It's accurate except my autocorrect changed "forray" into "forest".

I wish it would only change words that are actual non-words, and not change less commonly used ones to more commonly used.

...

...

Get a better app. Mine gives me three choices based on my typing history, but doesn't take the initiative to autocorrect specifically because of the problem you cited.

...

...

...

...

That's okay, mine count both American and British versions of words as wrong.

Wow

Those are...

Wow.

How are all these non-furry? I don't understand. They are anthropomorphic animal fantasy characters which is in the realm of furry. Where/how do you draw the distinction?

Icky things from the sea floor are underused as animal-folks

It's REAAAALLLLYYYY easy.

The line is blurry, but somewhere around "clearly sexualied".

...

...

Hi there fable thread, do you play with miniatures? I'll leave these here just in case.

darkswordminiatures.com/shop/index.php/miniatures/visions-in-fantasy-critters.html

Because it's spelled "foray"?

...

>How are all these non-furry? I don't understand.
It's easier to understand if you're not autistic, so it might be hard to explain to you.

Basically, the picture you posted is furry because the artist is clearly aiming for a sexualized depiction. The image was created with the intention of being fapfuel.

This image is not furry because the character is not overtly sexualized.

See the difference? If not, enjoy your tendies.

I'd play as Caesar any day, any setting.

>those hips
>that pose
>those eyes

You must be blind, that fox archer is very arguably sexualized. Pic related, from the same artist who is a kemono (japanese furry). You also seemed to have missed the suggestive nature of this one So again, where do you draw the line?

Are you familiar with Terra Primate?

Roleplaying in a world where MAN is the missing link!

Ah, one of those contrarian types who likes to make shitty arguments on the Internet.

Have a nice day!

Not only would I play as one, I'm currentl writing a campaign setting where all the player races are based on said animal races. I've currently got rabbits, cats and bears drawn up with stats and what not

No, I'm trying to understand the logic here because I want to make this kind of art in the future, and don't know where the line is that would make an art piece flat out furry, or just an well drawn fantasy creature.

Dude, just draw what you like.

It's very subjective. People are going to whine about how anything vaguely animal like is furry shit. And here I thought the internet had moved on to picking on bronies.

The problem with this logic appears when you add death of the author and autists seeking self-validation through attacks on acceptable targets. No one can prove that something is not furry, and there is no clear-cut criterion by which you can preempt you game being disrupted, either by a furry fapping under the table or by a social retard foaming about furries. Your least bad option is to wait and see.

Best animal character coming through. I really want to try to play a similar character sometime.

It's buzzwording.

Technically, every anthropomorph animal character is furry because the furry fandom first built around this principle, but then internet snowflakes tasted blood and started to hype it up to the point of making everyone sick and tired of the topic.

So according to Veeky Forums's purity squad, every animal/anthro character that dares tread outside the boundaries of "ugly, musky murderbeast" is considered "furry".

I will admit though, stuff like would pretty much fit the bill because somebody, somewhere is definitely having a fieldday writing smut about these characters.
