First for a breath of fresh air out of the stale thread

24 Days until Inferno.

One bread closer to the next Inferno delay.

What does everybody think about changing Indomitus terminator armour to be cheaper, and have both Tartaros and Catapractii be upgrades ?

I guess this is now a Sallie claimed bread. Crispy bread for everyone!

I could live with Indomitus being cheaper. Make Tartaros the most expensive out of the three since it would be harder to maintain as Horus and friends' edgy temper tantrum progressed.

*25

Jokes on you, I was an Imperial Fist in disguise.

Though I do honour my Sworn Brothers desu
Wouldn't want one inside my transports though

...

From the thumbnail I thought that was a Tau fortification.

But you'd get more flamethrowers in your transport.
Buzz off. Uncle Vulkan needs this.
Now that you mention it it does look like one. I have to get one of those. m.youtube.com/watch?v=6JyDp0l2ayc

...

Yo!

Seekers can take a Proteus Land Raider as dedicated Transport.

Proteus can take an item which grants it the SCOUT special rule, although making it just an 8 slot transport. Now, the scout rules state that infantry can re-deploy within '6'. But the Land raider have the scout rule. Does that mean that the Proteus with the seekers can re-deploy within '12' as most scouts can do?

Can lists based around Tactical blobs and Fury of the Legion work?
Aside from templates which can be dealt with, what other pitfalls of 20-man squads I should be aware of are there? One thing that comes to mind is the possibility of harsh terrain, but I'm not experienced enough to assess how much of a factor it is.

You don't want some obsidian pimped rides ? Shame on you brother

Death Guard don't give a shit about terrain, and Creeping Death gives them a healthy cover bonus, especially with an apothecary.

Add extra chainswords and tell everything to fuck off

I think the problem is that they're only much use against other infantry, and people are taking less and less of that. Even if you do manage to get off a full FotL with rapid fire (frankly, rather unlikely) it'll only kill 9 MEQ on average, or half as many terminators. Not terrible, but not stellar either. Anything else is going to be decidedly untroubled by S4 shooting.

I agree with you on the chainswords, I feel they are a must for good defense.
What I had in mind however was three options:
- Dark Angels Ironwing Protocol (Exterminators for 3+ to wound bolters)
- Imperial Fists Hammerfall Strike Force (Deep Striking blobs)
- Alpha Legion with no particular Rite, they have plenty enough possible combinations

user with broken salamander traits here, anyone willing to help me fix this mess and give ideas for the two last traits ?
1.MASTER OF THE ARMORY
select one unit with both the legion astartes(salamanders) and either the infantry or jump infantry type, each model in this unit have one of their weapon master crafted
2.DISCIPLE OF THE PROMETHEAN CREED
The warlord gain IWND, in addition every unit within 6" (including the warlord's own) gain the stubborn rule
3.UNYIELDING SPIRIT
the warlord gain fearless, in addition each unit within 6" of the warlord add +1 to their ld
4.INTO THE FIRE
Once per battle, at the beginning of your shooting phase, declare that you are using this trait, all flamer-type weapon gain the twin-linked special rule during this phase

Speaking of extra CC for tacs, how should they be modeled? Does every bloke need 2 weapons?

Bayonets or Chainswords. Bayonets can be mounted on their Bolters, Chainswrods sheathed at their hips.

Or combat blades.

Or all of the above.

Preferrably all of the above.

Is 3 Tactical squads at 2500 points a bad idea?

Let's call it around 800 points for tactical marines, and the rest is support weaponry in the form of tanks and artillery with specific roles/targets

You pay only 35 points more for a 20 man squad with Fotl than you do for a 5 man plasma squad in a Rhino for example

Can I take Spartans als Dedicated Transports for my 20 man tactical squads?

are you iron hands ?

Anything really. Chainswords, bayonets, knives, shovels, trench clubs...

5 man plasma squad is more killy and manoeuvrable, tac squad is tougher. They do very different jobs.

In all probability it's more likely to be a bad idea. I'd go over the 800 points with added Apothecaries w/Augury Scanners and such, even a Master of Signal to boost it where needed.
Bruteforcing the dice through any armour saves seems fun, also I find the idea of massed bolter fire iconic as I got into the game when the artwork was good so it stuck with me.

That was just an example. If I've got 300 points spare and can't find a good or thematic fit, another Tactical squad isn't going to hurt. Doesn't matter how many dudes you kill, you aren't getting these objectives motherfucker

If you have nothing else to take up points, then the question is moot. Either you have the resources to go up against someone fielding $700 worth of merchandise in a 2500 point game or you're living off boxed plastic.

Iron Warriors

I run 3x10 in Rhinos every game thats over 1.5k, it's totally legit.

You could argue for keeping Cataphractii as a free replacement for Indomitus, or only pricing it marginally higher, due to it having S&P rather than just Relentless.

Tartaros, on the other hand, is a better Indomitus with no added drawback to balance it out. I'm surprised it isn't more expensive already.

Want to field something like this, not sure about predator and malcador loadout.

Ironwing 2000 (Warhammer 30,000 - The Horus Heresy v44) (2000pts) +++

The Age of Darkness (Legiones Astartes: Age of Darkness Army List v205) (2000pts) ++

+ HQ (165pts) +

Damocles Command Rhino (100pts)

Legion Centurion (65pts) [Power Armour]
Consul [Delegatus], Rite of War - Ironwing Protocol

+ Elites (135pts) +

Legion Mortis Dreadnought (135pts) [Two Twin-linked Autocannons]

+ Troops (320pts) +

Legion Tactical Squad (160pts) [Legion Rhino Armoured Carrier, 9x Legion Tactical Space Marines]
·Legion Tactical Sergeant [Bolter]

Legion Tactical Squad (160pts) [Legion Rhino Armoured Carrier, 9x Legion Tactical Space Marines]
·Legion Tactical Sergeant [Bolter]

+ Heavy Support (1310pts) +

Legion Malcador Assualt Tank Squadron (710pts)
·Legion Malcador Assault Tank [Armoured Ceramite, Battle Cannon, Demolisher Cannon, Flare Shield, Heavy Bolter, Lascannon Sponsons]
·Legion Malcador Assault Tank [Armoured Ceramite, Battle Cannon, Demolisher Cannon, Flare Shield, Heavy Bolter, Lascannon Sponsons]

Legion Predator Strike Armoured Squadron (340pts)
·Legion Predator Tank [Executioner Plasma Destroyer, Lascannon Sponsons]
·Legion Predator Tank [Executioner Plasma Destroyer, Lascannon Sponsons]

Legion Vindicator Siege Tank Squadron (260pts)
·Legion Vindicator Tank [Combi-Bolter, Laser Destroyer Array]
·Legion Vindicator Tank [Combi-Bolter, Laser Destroyer Array]

That's a lot of fucking tanks.

It's not about the cash user, it's about the 320~ points left in my list, and the suitability (or lack of) that units around that cost are for my mostly footslogging force. Anything in a transport is going it alone, anything drop podded in will be dead because the rest is too slow to lend support

You see what I mean user?

Reposting.

Currently building a burning of prospero fuelled Death Guard force as my first 30k intro, but I'm also building this force to work in 40k (seeing as DG got some tasty new rules).

The force is going to look largely uncorrupted as a result, with hints of nurglish bits and bobs. Some units will be built solely for use in 30k, others solely for 40k, including a Lord on a Palaquin of Nurgle. My query is: how would you guys convert up a 40k Palaquin of Nurgle to look more 30k/less corrupted?

Current thoughts are like a little platform/throne on treads, or maybe a Mechanicus style mini-walker thing. Any ideas?

Pic is the champion of my chosen/vet tac squad, not looking too DG atm, but wanting them to stand out from the regular MKIIIs.

Are you kiddin me?

Can librarians generate powers from Librarius, Technomancy, Fulmination, and Geokinesis?

40k yes.
30k no

>Doesn't matter how many dudes you kill

I think another 20 ought to do it.

Who the hell is knightanon?

>and now the masturbation about lonely people with mental issues who get attached to having identities in an anonymous culture will begin

Inferno.
WHERE
IS
INFERNO
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Right in front of these guys.

I so wish they were better at setting stuff on fire than a normal tactical support squad.

There been any books with fabulous bill making an appearence yet?
Also what should we expect from lucius in terms of rules?

Praise the Omnissiah, I have some money spare now and I want to nab the bare minimum for a Reductor army so I can build it up in future.
2x3 Thallax with Photon Thruster
FW Magos Dominus
40 Genestealer Neophytes to make into Adsecularis
2 Basilisks to make into Medusae.

Am I missing anything important? Was eventually going to get a Hellblade to use as a Lightning, because Xana. First 30k army, so although I've read the tacticas I've had no experience personally.

22 days until Inferno!

Id say give one of you thallex units meltas, great for utilising their jetpacks and toughness
The armoured ceramite spam you hear about in the tactica is a stale meme, ive never seen AC on the table

How about

>1. SLAYERDRAKE:
One of the Warlord's weapons gains +1Str. For Combi-weapons, both parts are affected.
Justification: Some Traits are simply "Warlord gains MC weapon(s)", but this one would make synergy with his Sallie-crafted weapons. Less so if he's wielding stuff like a Thunder Hammer, but S9 makes it good against metal boxes too

>2. DISCIPLE OF THE PROMETHEAN CREED:
The warlord gains IWND, in addition every unit within 6" (including the warlord's own) gains the Stubborn rule.
Justification: Cassian Dracos has an aura of FnP, and 6" is half of the regular aura radius

>3. UNYIELDING SPIRIT:
The warlord gains Fearless, in addition each unit within 6" of the warlord add +1 to their Ld.
Justification: Akin to a downgraded version of one of Vulkan's rules, and a different version to Rhy'than's WT

>4. INTO THE FIRES OF BATTLE:
The Warlord has Furious Charge, his unit gains Hammer of Wrath. If they already had the rule, they inflict D3 HoW hits instead.
Justification: Salamander archetypes are champions, their RoW even makes Champions the only available Consuls

>5. UNTO THE ANVIL OF WAR:
The Warlord gains Stubborn, he and the unit he's attached to gains Counter Attack
Justification: Because try to contest my objective

>6. LORD OF CINDERS:
Designate D3 Infantry squads. Their Flamer-type weapons reroll To-Wound rolls of one.
Justification: Non-chem version of Burner of Worlds...even if they do indeed, literally, burn the fuck out of worlds

Yes, I realize I also suck at making "balanced" traits. Be as it may, a Salamander Praetor with Mantle of the Drake, cheap Mastercrafted Thunder Hammer, Digital weapons, Iron Halo + Stormshield and mounted on a Jetbike with a +1Str Heavy Flamer is already a tough motherfucker that may drop a flaming shit on your EC/WE beatstick, Warlord Trait or not.

Not to mention Child of Terra is a thing.

>I so wish they were better at setting stuff on fire than a normal tactical support squad.
At least they are resilient? 2+ with a conditional 5++, in a Land Raider.
Their melta projectors are a bit underwhelming, though.

I think I might do that, but I was thinking I'll order the Thallax with Photon Thruster, since it's easier to counts-as that as a melta than vice-versa. Are the Myrmidon Destructors any better than the Secutors? I kind of love the models and those Irrad Engines look nasty, but my main enemy is Death Guard who get 4+ FnP against it. Any of their other guns worth the points?

>obligatory >>>>>Implying Inferno will come out post

Come on user, can't you have a single bit of hope in that cold black heart of yours?

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Found Tzeentch.

Can a Mhara Gal dreadnought take a drop pod?

Post rules that don't make sense.

>Delegatus, the guy who is supposed to lead specific teams to go fuck shit up when they don't want to send a Praetor, can't go in allied detachments
>Neither can a Herald

>Sworn Brothers can't share transports
>hey brothers, I know we fought side-by-side for multiple months on Istvaan but I won't let you in my truck, sorry.

>Solar Auxilia can take squads of volkite as troops
>but no support squads aside from flamers

It has no dedicated transport options of its own and isn't listed as one of the dreads that are allowed in a dreadclaw, but if you get a kharybdis then you can fit it in there.

Well, they can, but only if you bring a Primarch.

>Angel's wrath doesn't let any marine unit with more than 10 men take a 20-man capacity Storm Eagle as a dedicated transport.

>Flareshields being objectively better than Voidshields

The whole rending flamers nonsense, either sniper veterans or mor deythan. Apparently being an expert sniper allows you to aim a flamethrower more effectively.

Not really objectively, but I wish flare shield were a bit rarer.

Calleb Decima not having Archmagos stats, and Ordo Reductor not being able to take the Achilles they invented.
Also Death Guard not being Sworn Brothers with Ordo Reductor, although that's just a little problem.

Rapiers themselves having unit type : artillery
Marines with the rapiers unit type : Infantry
If you play this RAW the rapiers can never fire, because the crew doesn't have the right unit type so they don't count as crew for firing the gun models.

>headshotting with flamerthrowers and shrapnel of frag missiles is so realistic, kek

>>Neither can a Herald
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
DOUBLE R E E E E E E E E E E E E E EE

Models with MotL should be confined to the Primary detachment, Delegati and Heralds being the sole exceptions.

>Each Rapier has 2 Space Marine crew.
>Special Rules
>Legiones Astartes (Space Marine Crew)

>IWs lost pretty much half of their LA rule with the grenadeFAQ
Decimation.

Orbital Assault Rite of War - no Dreadclaw nor Kharybdis as dedicated transport options.

>salamanders can take forgelords and techmarines with rad grenades
>and take servitors armed with rad missiles
>and can also put rad missiles on a lightning

Also, I guess it's a bit funny that Salamanders and Death Guard get slightly more effective jump troops and skimmers due to Move Through Cover.

Almost every single relic.
>S get EW for 20 points
>IF have to pay 30 points on top of that for a 3++ against melta

>Every single +1S ap3 rending sword with a shitty gimmick rule
>Meanwhile, BL get a fleshbanefearinducingsoulblaze AP2 sword of no downsides, even ignoring the blade of memedition

Huh. Seems odd, what with the Serrated Sunday being drop specialists and all.

>Serrated Sunday
Kek.
They have faith all week long though.

Wait I have an idea. Someone do a Serrated Sundays image like those Secret Saturdays.
I'd do it myself but I'm going out for the day.

They still don't have the Artillery unit type, which means that no matter how often they are listed as crew they don't function as such. The fact that they have unit type : infantry means they have no acces to the rule that allows them to fire the weapon of a gun model rather than their own.

The blood angels get all the cool swords. :(

Word Bearers go to church every day except Sunday.
Sunday is raising-money-for-the-new-church-after-the-iron-warriors-bombarded-it-on-saturday day.

>the Dark Apostles go to all their cultist's dwelling with collection tins
Does the cathedral have a little money box with a drawing of a partially filled thermometer above it?

Blood Angels OP even before their legion-specifics come out, but nobody says nothing.

Can IW get at least a nice legion-specific weapon?
Maybe Shrapnel Bolts get Ignore Cover plus Pinning at -1Ld?

>Does the cathedral have a little money box with a drawing of a partially filled thermometer above it?
They have a good-boy points counter instead ;^)

>tfw when have to start a crusade for enough points to buy tendies

No jetpacks for Ordo Reductor.

I need them so he can fly with his thallax troops.

Goodies arrived

What's in the other box, user?

What did you get, and what legion?

The whole thing is a Sicaran Venator, Apothecaries and 2 Predator Executioners

Oh, and I'm Death Guard. This box plus 2 Vindicators and Phosphex Mortars are my footslogger's support

My money is on at least one jump unit (sanguinary guard are canon in 30k, but how do they make them any different from 40k?), and on Sanguinius or someone else providing the opportunity for no-scatter DS.

>army wide no-scatter

Yes please.

Maybe some blood termies too.

this is missing the smiling primarchs user

>What are Numbered Mistakes :^)

Okay Thousandfags, Achean or regular upgrade.
Which is more AESTHETIC?

Lorgar's non-canon beard. Just look at how EVIL(tm) it is!

But anyways, Achean is named whereas the regular one isn't so I assume that it will likely be for a special unit or something. But they both look pretty cool.

T. Word Bearer.

Well, 1d6 scatter at least. It's pretty traditional in one form or another for BA in 40k, and would have some nice synergy with the rest of their rules.

Meh, legion termies are done to death and they lack the aforementioned synergy. It really depends on whether FW decide to riff on the space hulk vibe or not.

Yes, I was thinking of Space hulk

Death Company then.
>Meh, legion termies are done to death
Deathstar Termies are, Termie squads with an assault cannon each aren't. :^)

Achean is not for a special unit. I spoke with Israel last year, the upgrade kit is purely a work of passion from him.

As he said, he wanted to make the iconic Achaen set but FW said no because it would cost more than the other legions' due to the shoulder pads.

So once he got the basic upgrades out of the way, he asked again and he got the green light. In his own words, it's there for whatever you want.
