Warhammer - Necromunda

I want to get into Necromunda so I'm looking for inspirational artwork and old information, like White Dwarf issues about Confrontation and Necromunda, which are sadly missing from most collections I've found online.
Does anyone happen to have them as pdf?

Also what are your opinions about the game?
What's your favourite gang and gear?

Orlocks here

non-Orlocks go drown in the sump

While I've always enjoyed Necromunda I was never fond of campaigns when there were win at all costs players involved.

I liked much of a flavour/roleplay kinda thing over picking as much unbalanced stuff as possible.

Pssst ... Delaques here ...
What a coincidence that you should mention the sump ...
that is where we left Lord Hagen Orlock's rotting corpse ...

Scavvies here, we already did.

How likely do you guys think it is that GW is going to revive Necromunda as part of their new specialist games division?

...

I'm sure they will push something out. I'm also sure they will fuck it up.

If they put as much effort as they did when they made Necromunda Underhive for sure. That book was a fucking mess of mistakes, typos, missing entries and needless changes.

I have Scavvies, Cawdor, Goliath, Escher and Spyrers. Love the game as is and hope GW doesn't come back and screw it all up like 40k.

Delaque and Ratskins all the way.

I have fond memories of Necromunda, especially one long campaign me and a few mates ran. By the time we were done we all had to buy new gangs for the next campaign because we'd customised our minis to hell and back as we'd bought equipment or accumulated Injuries.

I mean I'd replaced half of my Leader's arm with an old Terminator Power Fist, his legs were both Chromed up, and I'd (badly) Green-Stuff'ed a bionic eye onto his face.

I miss those type of games.

Whats with dinklages everywhere?

Either they're homunculi, bred to perform certain functions,
or they're just midgets working as court dwarfs.

With all the violence, diseases, radiation, pollution and mutation around, being only 1 foot tall isn't exactly the worst fate.
At least you can still wing it as subpar genepool instead of chaos influence when the Inquisition comes knocking.

Necromunda is one of the best games to come out of gw.

Kandi Kane's Fashion Disasters have served me well against everything except Spyres. Which was OK by me since the Spyers would get stomped by the Delaques, who I would, in turn, violate badly.

My local campaign was a bit of a circular argument.

Everything from Necromunda feels like it's Judge Dredd and I love it.

I hope GW really do release a new edition.

I missed the whole shebang first time round, being as I was in pampers.

It's be the first thing I'd buy from them in some years.

What's going on in this Underhive?

I am old enough to have played necromunda as a kid. It was one of their best games, the use of 3d terrain had rules, you move your models individually meaning 15-20 models on a table was decent sized game etc.

It was good.

Kill Team has taken up the mantle, though never quite to living up to Necromunda. Even HoR Kill Team leaves something to be desired compared to Necromunda.

Was melee better in necromunda? It feels like ranged > melee in general, even with all the terrain (unless it obstructs vision completely)

>Was melee better in necromunda?
Not really, it's more that ranged was worse. Ammo rolls and missfires and shit.

Bump.

How tolerant are the Imperium of Mercenaries? Would they allow a band of mercenaries as well armed as a small regiment or PDF to go around selling their services to planetary governors? Because this image really makes me want to play some kind of Imperial Landschneckts.

So what IS Necromunda, and odd version of 40k?

Depends on the faction doing the hiring. But generally, there's stories of the Imperial Guard hiring Kroot, the Inquisition and Rogue Traders are obviously fine with it, and many private persons or militaries probably rely on hired guns a good deal.

The AdMech and the Space Marines probably pride themselves of self-sufficiency, but they might allow themselves to work with them out of pragmatism. It'd have to be for good reason, though.

Necromunda was a standalone game in and of itself, one of GW's Specialist Games back when they had more product lines than 40k, LotR, and WHFB. It had its own model line for gangs, Arbites, and a few monsters, and I think it even crossed some lines with GW's old 2000 AD Judge Dread game and miniatures, which is why Arbites are basically Judges with aquillas slapped on and the gangs are... Well, basically no different.

As long as planet pays tithes when due and doesn't show any inclination towards Chaos or Xenos, the Imperium couldn't care less about petty local squabbles.

>epic revived as adeptus titanicus, about titan battles in the horus heresy
>BFG revival rumoured to be about space battles in the horus heresy
Hope you're all ready for Cthonimunda,

I thought the community editions of Necromunda were fairly well known about?

I guess not. Anyway, there's a bunch of additional, rules and shit on a website called Yaktribe and the community keeps the game updated and tries to fix the wrinkles.

There's also Inquisimunda which is Necromunda but fitted to have Inquisitor Warbands, AdMech, Eldar Void Pirates etc etc.

God, I am so sick of the Horus Heresy.

Give us an era with some actual faction variety.

>heresy BFG

WE BATTLE FOR THE ABYSS NOW

Is there a collection of PDF's for the game somewhere like other generals have? It looks interesting.

>All these criminals

Can't wait to throw your asses in the slammer

yaktribe.org/community/vault/

>updated
Does this mean updated, or does it mean "bloated"? Some communities just can't resist adding more and more stuff until the game is a mess.

Updated as in fixed because the last official release was a clusterfuck that clearly lacked proofreading leading to mechanics being referenced that didn't exist any more amongst other things.

Maybe GW will come back with a new version kind of like what they did to Space Hulk?

Doubt it, Space Hulk is pretty self-contained, Necromunda needs a lot of extra miniatures not in the main boxed set, plus since dreadfleet's disaster pretty much all of GW's standalone releases of late have been models that can be used in regular 40k to make sure they sell. The only one set to be different for that so far that's confirmed is Adeptus Titanicus.

What about blood bowl? You know, the first thing to come out of the new specialist games division?

>Necromunda needs a lot of extra miniatures not in the main boxed set

Not necessarily, I'm sure with the wide range of miniatures available they could work something out with the preexisting materials, even if they have to take some from fantasy.

Blood Bowl is FW isn't it? Not GW.

Just make the two main gangs a Genestealer Cult and Storm Troopers.

Back when Mordheim had a box it came with Gutter Runners and Empire Free Company sprues.

It's on GW's site not FW, and being sold in GW stores.

Praise to the Emperor sir

You do realise, that GW and FW is the same thing, right?

>What about blood bowl?

Blood Bowl is the only example of that so far, everything else has been one-off contained sets, not anything with serious expansion planned.

Basically: I'll believe GW will re-make Necromunda when I see it. Because even that last release that was getting rumoured as Necromunda with Dark Eldar turned out to be just jetbikes versus hellions.

>Blood Bowl is the only example of that so far
Well, yeah, like I saw it's the first game out of the new specialist games, so it's all we have to judge on. But given that, seeing each team of 12 dudes (about the size of a starter necromunda gang) sold as an indivual plastic set, with add-ons (refs, star players) being done in resin, seems like a good sign for necromunda.

And nobody was rumouring that commoragh game was going to be necromunda. Well, maybe BOLS did, but if you're going to BOLS it's your own fault. Atia etc. have been really clear that it was BB first, then adeptus titanicus, then others.

House Escher men are stunted freaks.

2nd edition 40k done as a skirmish campaign game. You make up a gang of ne'er do wells, buy them equipment, roll up some territories that you work for cash in between games and it was amazing at the time. It wasn't particularly balanced (you could get a string of piss-poor territories at the start, get really unlucky with injury rolls and what you found at the trade post, etc. etc.) but games were fast and fun, so it didn't really matter too much.

I still remember the game fondly even twenty years or so later. I remember my friend Dez with his Van Saar gang, with a guy that got renamed "Lucky the Lasgunner" after staring down my friend Ryan's Orlock Heavy with a Heavy Stubber that could do nothing but jam. I ran a campaign of it when I went to university, which featured Redemptionists throwing themselves off buildings, a hit job on a Spyrer gang that involved saving enough credits to outfit a Delaque gang with power fists and a pair of lascannons, and my friend Martin's Van Saar gang that couldn't really fight for toffee, but had a whole god damn army of Inventors cranking out weaponry between games.

My hard-back copy of the reprint with the Outlanders expansion is falling apart and I'm afraid that, if I take it off the shelf, all the pages are going to fall out.

They're different division of the same company. Like how YouTube is part of Google.

There's also chaos cultists.

And the fact that Cadian models are ancient and, y'know, that other thing about Cadia...

It still is amazing. Its just that these days 40k tends to attract WAAC autists who don't get into the somewhat reckless, carefree spirit of the game.

Here are my spyrers
The Ra conversion is my proxy for a Matriarch

Arbitors here, sounds like you're looking for time in the cube, creep.

Post ya minis, nerds!

Cadia blowing up might herald in new IG sculpts which would be neat. With Cadia gone they might either redesign a new regiment to fill in for them or resculpt Cadians to better fit the theme of Nova Cadians.

They'll change the box to say astra militarum, and that'll be it.

They could've tied a Necromunda/Inquisitor/Confrontation re-release in with the Dark Heresy roleplaying game, which feels like a pretty big missed opportunity.

Could've expanded on both markets at the same time by tying them together.

Half the fun of the game is doing stupid shit in the game. A guy I played with loved his Goliath gang and basically just attempted to have his whole gang get the skill that lets you throw opponents so he could chuck people off buildings.

One of the things I love about Necromunda, Bloodbowl and Mordheim is your roster growing into their own characters and getting stories to tell about them

>not soundlessly walking across the sump
Ratskins here, gimmee archaeotech

Actually they've decided that Adeptus Titanicus is just going to be that and there is no longer any interest in doing Epic.

The only thing FW seems to be doing is stuff like Star Players, whereas GW is publishing the various rule books and plastic models.

>Because even that last release that was getting rumoured as Necromunda with Dark Eldar turned out to be just jetbikes versus hellions

That's people getting their hopes up because they saw campaign, there was nothing suggesting Necromunda.

>Also what are your opinions about the game?

Played with 200 point 2e armies it's the superior kill team ruleset

Not as well-crafted as Mordheim IMHO, but I'm a sucker for hive cities and Eschers are probably the best female sculpts GW have ever done,

Fucking hate people who keep trying to bring their orks or whatever into the ruleset though. Genestealers kinda make sense but Necro is a gang skirmish game, not an excuse for Killteam.

almost certain. probably within 4 years, so it doesnt hit the 25 year mark, as then it could be considered a lapsed IP for copyright law.

all the old rogue trader era stuff like beakies' weapons were released by foregeworld so as to renew the copyright.

Christ it really has been that long... was about to post that it hasn't been near that since the last releases but yeah, getting close for some of those ranges.

I wonder if the original writers/artists for RT got any royalties still (if they got them in the first place that is) for that reprint?

Ratskins a best
>makeshift muskets just as deadly as your high tech "laser guns"
>double the men your opponent has
>lemme just reroll that missing eyeball to a full recovery
>that ratskin map? Yeah we have that ingrained in our memory, plus yours is probably a fake lmao
>oh we're fighting in acid rain and have rats biting at our feet. Good thing I don't give a FUCK
>shaman ghost walk slapping your shit from around corners
>lock up some tech, suddenly magic armour and weapons start working as good as carapace and power mauls
>expert trackers to the point where scrounging for food can lead to profit

Why would you play anyone else?

Redemptionists a best
>shit territory? it's cool we're moving on
>two handed chainsaws
>with one shot flame throwers attached
>sweet robes
>too hot to handle so your own religious organisation disowns you
