This one's pretty good, and it's not "Pick a waifu xd" like 90% CYOAs.

We have plenty that aren't "pick a waifu".

And, at the very least, some waifu CYOAs are pretty creative these days

I thought that the event were you encounter pride is "future of despair"
There it says that in the future you are going to face your greatest enemy and die
So you have to choose a companion to kill you.
My guess is that you fight pride in her last body you "die" getting bodyjacked and while you bot fight for control of the body you have to ask one of your companions to kill you to stop pride

Although, if you're using these two CYOAs right, you could totally pick yourself a waifu and keep her in your comfy zone

I'm not sure what the pecking order is for the legendary monsters, but at least three of them are pretty weak compared to the player. Then again, Gluttony is a big-ass dragon, so who knows how strong Pride could be.

This is really neat. Great art choices.

Not a fan of these types as they're usually far too unbalanced against you, however while I feel this one should have given you a free pick or two at the start point wise, it is very well done and aesthetically pleasing.

The guy who made it is a bit of a rising star IMO. He made derelict station as well.

So what is the point of picking anything other than chimeric? It's a mix-and-match option with exactly the same downsides as every other choice.

It's not too difficult really.
For example, the Aurochs aren't predators, and the titan hermits are non-aggressive, so you can take them on with little to no danger.
And wyverns may be massive and dangerous, but like it says, to them you're nothing, they won't attack you so long as you aren't worth it.
3 points already, which doesn't sound like much, but still.
That's enough for a companion, a shelter, and an arcane artifact/some equipment, and that's ignoring the "Mission" you can take at the bottom, which gives you free stuff.

There's still a companion section though, which while somewhat fitting and well made in this specific case, all too often serves the same purpose as a waifu segment, or is simply included as a lazy way to pad length...

I personally have an unrestrained love for any CYOA that takes place in some sort of futuristic facility. I was definitely inspired by a few of the ones I've seen here. If I had to pick one specific CYOA I'd say the one featuring the king in yellow was pretty amazingly great at setting up an atmosphere and the weapons and companions were all very unique which meant I could spend several days thinking over my choices and making more builds.

Mind posting the one you had in mind?

Yeah that's pretty much what I did and I avoided choices that were pretty much going to kill you regardless like the undead. Taking an enemy that never sleeps, wants you dead and has massive numbers on an island you can't get off...yeahhhh not gonna happen.

Last room was a hard decision. I couldn't decide what I would really want for entertainment in a predominately solo setting, but since the Computer Room doesn't mention gaming at all, it has to be Game Room. I'd get bored with Living Room and Library, sadly.

So, here's the plan. I have to take out 360 people a year. BUT people of my choosing can enter my Comfy Home. So, I either need to take a good looking woman of my choosing who may be amiable to the situation or....I go the creepy route and lie about what I am, since I have two forms and she wouldn't know I'm the monster. Or I take her to my Comfy Place and hope for Stockholm syndrome? Even worse, since my door is in the Aether, I can take in the desperate souls who somehow stumble upon it and wait hopelessly outside for salvation. Whatever way you slice it, I'm probably going to be kidnapping myself a reluctant waifu.

It's still not really a "free" point. A free point would be "you start out with a point and now choose the items below to gain more points." Free has no attachments to it.

Would you consider CYOAs with the option to create another person as a "companion section"? For example, Time Stop Chill Zone allows you to create a being of your choosing to live there.

Monster Hunter also has a perk for creating a waifu, even if it's not technically a "companion section"

The challenge looks like it's about mandatory companion sections anyways. The point of that page is companions because teamwork adventures and the power set hinges entirely on that notion.
