So is there any actual Feudal World guard regiments?
Like I'm reading up on the guard right now for a Only War game I'm running tomorrow and I noticed that there's very little information about names Feudal Guardsmen regiments
Like fuck, to my knowledge there's at least one named feral world Regiment. why no love for Feudal worlds?

Crossbows, and often early firearms, are known on Feudal Worlds. I would expect that most Feudal World regiments would be issued lasguns, fatigues and flak armour, essentially being equipped as regular Guard. You might get more Rough Riders from some of them, if there's a strong cavalry tradition.
For names, just make something up yourself.
Elijah Allen
There're plenty of feudal worlds and regiments. GW just doesn't think that they're interesting enough so make up your own.

The thing with Feudal worlds is that given their tech level they can't produce any of their own equipment.
Thus, they'll be equipped with gear manufactured off world, which will be some standard, common pattern of armor, uniform and weapons.
So they'd look like a pretty bog standard guard unit really. No unusual looking or proprietary equipment, thus not visually interesting, therefore rarely to ever get attention because they don't stand out.
You'll probably never see guardsmen wearing flak armor directly modeled on plate armor because nobody with the tech to make flak armor would make it look like plate armor.
Though if you were imaginative you could fluff a reason to explain this, but that's generally why I think that they haven't gotten much attention.
Jose Carter
You can pretty much tell which are from a feudal world
Andrew Reyes
>nobody with the tech to make flak armor would make it look like plate armor I mean, it's 40k, aesthetic is a big deal.
Cameron Smith
> Feudal guardsman complains that he isn't allowed to wear his family armour. > Commissar sets up a demonstration. > Loudest complainer in plate armour > Another guardsman in flax > Commissar shoots both in chest with lasgun > Flax guardsman survives. Rushed to medicae > Plate guardsman dead > Nobody notices that the lasgun was set to low power.
Carson Nguyen
Mainly most worlds where no ones good at lasrifles probbably end up tyranid chow. Most of the regiments you here about are elites.
Could be a fun bit of only war to have a tank squadron who dont really get tanks.
Yeah but the guess choosing the aesthetics are the cogboys.

>fucking implying
> Feudal guardsman complains that he isn't allowed to wear his family armour. > Commissar sets up a demonstration. > Loudest complainer in plate armour > Another guardsman in flax > Commissar shoots both in chest with lasgun > Flax guardsman dead instantly because his wet toilet paper armour disintegrated > Plate guardsman survives because the flashlight bounced off his shiny shit and vaporized a third guardsman > Nobody notices that the lasgun was set to maximum power, which is still not enough to pierce plate armour because it's a damn flashlight
Carter Long
Cant see shit captain.

Only War is pretty much 'your dudes' the regimental RPG. It has a lot of flexibility in what you can make a regiment out of, especially with Hammer of the Emperor and Shield of Humanity.
Nathan Ortiz
I'd like to have some feudal plate in the game. Maybe 6+ at range, 4+ in melee and a 6++ in melee with shield.
Stick in enough doctrines to make a feudal army. Some WS4, shitty guns or no guns, +2 Strength 2 Handed melee weapons.
Don't know what they'd use against vehicles aside from wizards, cannons (Strength 8?) and carted around Imperial artillery.

Jaxson Ward
It's spelled flak.
Dominic Long
My guardsmen where flax.
Noah Adams
I'll give you my since it's such a short word, but you really should have misspelled guardsmen too. As is your spelling is perfectly fine and then goes to shit literally halfway through the sentence.
Carapace armor counts-as to simplify. Feudal Guardsmen still get mostly standard weaponry, but they might stick to their own martial traditions like fighting in Knight armor and carrying around polearms. They'd have Heavy Weapons just like regular Guard, same with vehicles.
Eli Roberts
1- buy Fireforge men at arms 2- add cadian arms you bought for cheap at bits resellers (everyone just buy torsos anyway) 3- ??? 4- profit
Jaxson Ward
More like: >Feudal guardsman complains that he isn't allowed to wear his family armour >commissar BLAMs him for causing dissent and complaining about flak armour, the galaxy's second (after power armour) best personal protection
Angel Reyes
So from this thread we can see that lasrifles are 9mm of 40k.

Once again, Lasguns by modern standards are fucking powerful. But in the setting of 40k, where you have daemons and super soldiers and daemons possessing super soldiers all firing gyrojet rockets that explode on impact, they're fairly weak by comparison.

this i think the codex even mentions they get educated about what kind of shit to expect in the wider imperium while shipping out >You'll probably never see guardsmen wearing flak armor directly modeled on plate armor because nobody with the tech to make flak armor would make it look like plate armor. ceremonial carapace armor rarely if ever looks like anything but plate besides, flak armor are the fatigues, the chestpiece and helmet are carapace
Gabriel Green
Kill yourself.
Wyatt Brooks
It's called proper english. No wonder Kant called you exiles the lowest of mankind.
Levi Bailey
You can not even make rules for non-cadian regiments anymore because regiment traits are gone.
Daniel Wilson
4th edition codex for IG mentions that bulky feral plate could be used for Carapace armour.
As for weapons, I'd recommend Laslocks.
Nicholas Edwards
Not to toot my own horn too much but I'm trying to angle for tech-sallet style helmets and personal heraldry in this vein on my guardsmen
Brody Long
Looks good user, but wouldn't personal heraldry be restricted to officers? Perhaps each squad bearing their officer's crest would work better, unless you're going for a Volpone Bluebloods kind of thing where everyone is nobility.

Makes sense. Only a planets best gets sent to the Guard.

Feudal worlds are not completely devoid of technology only that it's not widespread and maybe the one major city that has the only space port on the entire planet has all the tech.
So while everywhere else on the planet everyone is using javalins and crossbows the King has a las pistol and his royal guard are equiped with lasguns and carapace armor.
So assuming this planet is called to supply an imperial guard regiment they could probably turn said capital to have a manufacturing base to shit out the essential gear for their regiment because making Guard Flak and lasguns is not hard and not something the Mechnicus has to be looking over your shoulder to do.
That said, this probably allows for the variations (approved of course) that create stuff like Spartan style Flak Vests and Helmets with plumage on it. The Guard doesn't give a shit as long as as you have something of a command structure and can take orders.
Parker Miller
several of those were basically just a thinly veiled 'hey you could use these minis for an army too' kind of things. Like xenonians were basically just esher, or the pages here specifically even refer to ratskins. The the other rider there looks suspiciously like a mutiebeast rider from gorkamorka. Ork hunters from armageddon would have worked well with diggas too. And then you got stuff like the kanak skull takers, who are basically just chaos mauders with lasguns.
In a lot of ways you can still do that, maybe even better than back in the day, you just can't use GW models for it anymore.
Victoria Miniatures, Mad Robot, Anvil Industry, Secret Weapon miniatures, Blight Wheel, Meridian Miniatures, Maxmini, Puppetswar and probably a whole of other companies have so many bits in their store, they basically carry several lines of IG regiments.
And then you can even just take historial miniatures and tack a lasgun on there, which is where a lot of the inspiration for several IG regiments came from anyway. Not long ago, somebody posted in WIP with warlord plastic russians converted to Valhallans. Perry has a huge range of plastics that you could use too. Get some Victoria female arms (they are a little smaller) and you can just arm napoleonic troops or mercenaries from the war of roses with lasrifles. At around 40 models a box for what a regular squad of cadians costs minus the lasrifle arms.
