Yes

So what role does the Aggressor fulfill?

In-Universe? Recon and Light Fighter-Bomber duty

In XWM? Imp Turret carrier (subject to change when the named pilots are spoiled)

Alright, so the Aggressor made it in.

Do we want to take bets on more ships? Will the Oppressor with two missiles and a system slot come in, clearly designed to be the Imperial B-Wing, but instead of primary/cannon attacks, it throws Unguided Rockets because that's a thing now? Will the TIE Hunter finally get in, a dangerous ace hunter which can utilize torpedoes? Will shit get really weird, and we get Vanguards or Scouts as support TIEs?

It's a attempt to build a fighter/bomber, much like the Y. It was used for attacking rebel convoys and shipping, and also some patrol and escort duty. It's supposed to be rugged and versatile, but pays for it with less maneuverability and power.

Like said in game we'll see. Right now it seems to be a choice for your cheap turreted or missile ship.

If FFG keeps going back to OldCanon for ships when NuCanon stuff has been exhausted we might see the TIE Hunter, TIE Raptor and maybe Assault Gunboat for Imps. But that will be 3-4 waves away at earliest

Given that Unguided Rockets is now an imperial themed upgrade (they're the only ones with double missiles that anybody can think of) I feel confident the Gunboat will eventually make it in. Probably with the ability to be more flexible with upgrades also, but given how weakly armed the ship is normally, something like Cannon+Missile+Missile is a niche imps don't have.

Anyone have any pictures of Ganks outside of the Hutt Space supplement book? Cant seem to find any, especially unmasked.

And with epic actions getting used in normal play, we may have the space jam soon enough

My money is Wave XII, Scum will get a ship with Jam out of the box. Or every faction will be able to jam.

But the Empire should be able to SLAM and Jam

I so want this to be a thing

I mean, Imperials just got turrets and Rebels technically have access to unique Salvaged Astromechs. SLAM was invented by Imperials, I'd bet they'll eventually get a ship which can SLAM too.

(And didn't Gunboats or Missile Boats have a jamming beam?)

Missile boat is too ugly for x-wing

FFG's miniatures make anything look good.

They already have the gr 75 medium transport

BRRRROTHER

Have there been any word on a 40th anniversary edition?

Would a Assault Gunship Title that lets you make two missile attacks by spending a Target Lock and getting a Weapons Deactivated token be too OP?

Because that would be a cool way to bring the Missile Boat into XWM

No. Fan-speculation at best, and some mentions of a 4k version of the special edition of ANH, but that's it.

Disney can't legally release any physical copies of the PT/OT without a deal from Fox, anyway, and there's not even been rumors of such a deal.

Remember that Fox owns distribution rights for ANH in perpetuity or until they decide to sell those rights.

You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

You must be at least this attractive to be in X-wing Miniature Game

God the k-wing gets my dick hard. All that fucking firepower

I'm actually putting stats, dials, and pilots to this beast. Give me some upgrade and pilot suggestions I can mull over while I write out my designs.

So far I've completed the dial, a couple idea pilots, and some starting upgrades & gimmicks. Will post images soon.

It's my favorite ship (rules and appearance) in the game, and I think that's unlikely to change.

I thought those rights were sold in the disney aquisition

...

First up the dial. Making this gimmick the major part of the ship's design. Imbalanced ship design makes the ship push left, and it LOVES going left, and hates going right. Fastest it can turn "right" will be from a 2 straight and a boost right. Dial generator didn't like all of the options I gave it.

Corrections and clarifications to the image:
>1 speed bank is green, turn is white, tallon roll and segnor's loop are red.
>2 speed bank and turn are green, straight, tallon roll, and segnor's loop are white.
>3 speed bank, turn, tallon roll and segnor's loop are green (faster speed means easier to handle and utilize the pull to the left), 3 straight is white.
>4 straight red (pilot has to pull right hard to keep it straight for that long)
>5 red koroigan turn

>actions, stats, and firing arc.

I'm phone posting and editing, so I can't really modify the firing arcs. There will be a 180 cannon only auxiliary firing arc on the left half of the ship. Just try to imagine it, this will become part of the gimmick package through a title.

>no right turns
nice meme

Tech and Cannon maybe? Any broken combos?

Thats exactly the plan, actually. Well system and cannon. Maybe swap it out for a tech instead?

Next up is the base pilot card. Points will be 17 base, 21 for a PS5 generic with EPT, 23 for ace #1 at PS6, 25 for PS7 ace #2

>only upgrade is system
The cannon and auxiliary arc will be available through a title, removing the primary fire so it can only shoot left.

Autoblaster and accuracy corrector come to mind

Forgot the image, like a dumbass.

Did you really think Fox would let that shit go?

Also remember that the unedited original versions of the OT don't even exist anymore and Disney has no aim to restore them.

Heres ps5 at 20 or 21 points or something. I'm you, but better.

No. George sold Lucasfilm and its properties as is, all rights intact. Fox still owns the distribution rights for I-VI until 2020 and IV in perpetuity.

It's why the digital distribution for I-VI in 2015 was allowed to happen the way it did, because technically Fox doesn't actually own the distribution rights for digital (as far as I am aware of), just for theatrical and physical media for home release.

Ace #1 next. 23 points. Anyone have a better name besides "Rebel"?

If this is not TFA era no tech slot I guess. I thought it was TFA FO concept art.

Defiant Ace or "Rogue Vet"

That was my thought. I think it was just someone's Photoshop project and never associated it with any time scale.

Ace #2 at 25 points. Trying to keep up with the /x7 defender title theme, while making it somewhat worthy of top pilot status.

Thats it for the images. Now for some in-box upgrades to flesh this shit out.

Obligatory gimmick title:
>Pintle Mount
You may equip a Cannon upgrade to this ship. While it is equipped, you cannot perform primary weapon attacks, and must only use your auxiliary firing arc.

Cannon:
>Gatling Laser
5pts, Range 1-3, 3 attack, if you do not modify your attack dice, the defender cannot modify their defense dice.

System:
>Overclocked Sensors
3pts, dual card
Side 1: When you perform an action, you may perform a free action. If you do, flip this card.
Side 2: Action: Receive a stress token and a"Weapons Disabled" token, flip this card.

Modification:
>Autothrusters
Because we NEED another source of autothrusters besides buying star vipers.

EPT:
>Vengeful
2pts, after an enemy ship at range 1-3 destroys a friendly ship, if you are not stressed, you may receive 1 stress token to immediately perform an attack against that ship, if able.

Vengeful sounds fun.

Following up, it would make a black squadron swarm crazy good. 16 points a pop is pretty cheap

It has many good applications, and its essentially the new chewie pilot ability with added stress. This of this on someone like quickdraw, who can now shoot a maximum 6 times per turn (if the vengeful attack allows special ops training to kick in as well), or at the very least if someone has FCS and a lock on the target, they then get to fire missiles at them.

What are some interesting ideas for bounty hunters?

A bounty hunter who doesn't know he's a bounty hunter.
To give you an example of how to do this:
Character has been an underling for a crime boss for a few years, picking up his dry cleaning or whatever, just mundane shit.
"hey, kid, I need you to take care of this for me"
Character delivers packages he doesn't know are bombs or shit like that, unknowingly killing a bunch of people for his boss.

>TIE Oppressor was outfitted with a booster for anit-fighter work

Would the Oppressor make a good candidate for TIE with a SLAM in X Wing?

a former loose cannon cop who only takes bounties on criminals who he wants to kill, basically he's a vigilante using bounty hunting as cover
but here's the twist, his former partner got rich as hell from lucky investments in KDY, and uses his desk job to find criminals for his buddy, and puts out the bounties himself

...

Say, does Freedom in the Galaxy count as a Star Wars game?

I love everything about that cover

I wish I was dead...
How do you cope?

So long as this image exists, there is always hope

WTF I love life now

By shitposting

collect x wing minis and paint them

>anti fighter
>slam action

I dont think so. Maybe a boost action like the punisher has, but slam is used mostly defensively. That weapons disabled token hurts.

maybe Episode 8 will be better. Maybe Luke will make the wait worthwhile.

Yeah, the Oppressor would probably be Boost+BR, and have System (IIRC they're supposed to have advanced sensors and other equipment) and the double missile. On the other hand, due to Lightweight Frame, TIEs can have 2 AGI now.

What the fuck is that image from?

One of the Pirate mods for Mount and Blade Warband, a Slavic one iirc

One of my players might be bringing a friend over. Pitch me some character concepts that would be easy for a beginner to use.

Ewok fighter pilot who flies using prosthetics built by a sympathetic medical droid. Yub yub, Commander.

This is why we need to have someone from Veeky Forums win as many opens and the invitational as possible-

Add Trioculus to X-wing.

Technician whiz that bought his way out of slavery and is looking to find the rest of his family and bring them together

Droid working for the IG-88 droid conspiracy

Soldier who suffered at the hands of war crimes and wants the CO who gave the order to use nerve gas dead

This was my party when I GM'd EotE

No, no. Just add wacky Sienar shit. Like the TIE Bizarro.

whynotboth.holo

Speaking of the IG-88 droid conspiracy, my player characters are about to unleash their own droid conspiracy on the galaxy.

An old Separatist super tactical droid head was hooked up to a bunch of databanks in a research facility and left to rot for thirty years. The PCs found him. He has gained sentience, used the databanks as overflow memory and rewritten his own programming.

They deal is that they were sent to this facility to retrieve data. The data is on the droid, who doesn't want to lose parts of his "personality" by disconnecting to the databanks. To make things more complex, the person who gave them this job wants the droid wiped after the data is copied.

But the players like the droid and want to save it. So they're headed to a Clone Wars-era Holowan Mechanical laboratory to see if they can get a droid body that this sentient droid would fit into.

And then the plan is to hook this sentient droid, in his new body, into the old Separatist Shadowfeed transmission complex on Murkhana from where he can slice and gain root access to the HoloNet via the aging network of military grade pirate relays so that they can make a show of transmitting the data to their boss and destroying the old droid head on holo to prove they got the job done.

So tell me, Veeky Forums... what should happen next?

The droid learns how to shitpost like a Mandalorian.

The holonet is doomed

I'm doing my best!

Think as long as the pilot's "upgraded on drugs" it'll work out exactly as /swg/ planned

Can you transmit data over the Holonet? I thought it was for Audio/Visual communication only. I've actually been researching this a lot to try and figure out how communications and data transfer work in Star Wars on the interstellar scale because our GM was allowing us to more or less "google," for information if we had computer access and that seemed totally wrong to me.

My conclusions were that the Holonet only allows for A/V input/output and you can't send data files over it like its some kind of space internet. Subspace comms CAN transmit data but carries with it the danger of interception, corruption once you travel enough light years or relay it enough times, and its also really slow, like it can take days or weeks to send a file just to the other side of a sector. These two factors are why physical data storage and physical data couriers/information brokers are so important in Star Wars: there ain't no cloud or space torrent, and its faster and safer to take a spaceship and hand somebody a flash drive than it is to try and space-email it to them.

If you have a specific example of using the holonet for interstellar data transfer rather than just communication, I'd appreciate hearing about it so I can adjust my findings.

>watch latest Rebels episode
>they blow up an Imperial Frigate without even meme torpedos in a single shot
>they just overload a back feed and the entire ship explodes

Please kill me.

Hey /swg/, does anyone have any ideas/house rules for Mandalorian Iron as an equipment attribute? My bro is playing a Mando and he's been looking for some kind of special snowflake thing to "explore his heritage," with because his character has been estranged from his family and culture. I could just have it be a copy/paste of Cortosis I guess, but that seems really lame. For that matter, I kind of want to change the Cortosis rules too since it seems really wrong to me the attribute counts against all weapons and not just energy/lightsabers.

What I was thinking was since Cortosis is supposed to be brittle, it can keep its current effects and also add Sunder immunity to armor along with it providing immunity to Stun Damage, however these effects only count against energy weapons. In return, Sunder from physical weapons like blades and slug-throwers counts double.

Meanwhile, Mando Iron is supposed to stand up to Lightsabers and other energy weapons because of super high molecular density, which would also apply to physical weapons, but its not totally impregnable to concentrated attacks. So maybe the Mando Iron trait would similarly make armor and weapons immune to Sunder and Breach, but only blocks Pierce up to 1 to represent still being vulnerable to weapons specifically designed for pinpoint armor piercing (as opposed to the "large scale," armor piercing represented by Breach). Then since Cortosis now provides immunity to stun, have the super dense metal provide immunity to Burn.

Finally, since "refined," Cortosis has the special effect of being able to short out Sabers, there should be a special attribute for "Pure," Beskar. Its stated to be much heavier if not an alloy, but also even more dense, so maybe it gets Cumbersome X but also Deflection X since at that density almost anything would bounce off it.

Does all that track? Any glaring balance issue stand out?

You 'can' send data, but its very demanding on the network. The old WEG Imp SB (PDF attached) was probably the most definitive and interesting iteration of 'how shit works' on the Holonet, I like this explanation as its got some foundations in actual protocols you would find on a telco carrier at the data-link layer
(got to love writers that actually research shit!)

In saying that, its quite primitive so that data-layer isn't something which is easily accessible if you where to apply it to a modern OSI Model as there's another 5 transport layers before you could 'read' data in an application. Plus like a lot of long range communications there's usually a compromise between the 'range' a signal can go and the amount of data that can be transported in that signal- hence when in Rogue One they where at a data facility, there's this fucking massive signal dish used to transmit information from a cassette to wireless.

TLDR- its not the internet! Its the tubes behind the internet

Don't you mean "it's the internet, not the www"?

Nope, I mean its not the internet- its the network layer before you even get to the interent

>Break into Hutt Casino to heist a vault for a Schutta's Eleven adventure
>Searching through the vault with GMPC and emptying it quick to get the hell out. Character desperately looking for things more related to their obsession(jedi artifacts) than money but I don't mention this out loud. Roll a triumph on my last search check.
>GM: You find two masks... they're sith death masks.
>"Oh god no." My face as I protest

You can absolutely, definitely, send data one-way over the HoloNet, if only because the data could be encrypted into pulses of sound (like an audio modem) and/or light (like li-fi/VLC).

This is a ridiculous source, but somewhat valid: If you remember in the Holiday Special, we see various characters using viewscreens and channels on Kashyyyk to communicate with each other - between Luke, Leia, or Saun Dann and Chewbacca's family; the Imperial government and the people of Kashyyyk; and in the animated cartoon, Boba Fett and Vader. That last example is particularly notable, because it's a public terminal, accessible via a sort of ID punch card... and R2 slices into the feed to get information.

According to Wookiepedia:
Despite Tarkin declaring that the HoloNet was only to be used by the Empire, it was a "source of conspiracy theories" for individuals such as Okadiah Garson. The rebel sympathizer Hetto also maintained contact with rebel operatives such as Hera Syndulla using the HoloNet. Rebel operatives such as Gall Trayvis managed to circumvent [Imperial control of the HoloNet] by hijacking Imperial transmissions with pro-rebel propaganda.

So it's 100% viable that they could send the data via the transmission tower. It's just not the Internet. It's closer to a TV broadcast.

The tractor beam was more useful (in TIE Fighter anyway) since it allowed you to get missile locks on those janky fighters.

I have a feeling they had the ship explode because it probably wouldn't have been acceptable to show cyborg Pablo's head being fried and being electrocuted to death.

eh seems like a convoluted solution to a simple problem, where I would just have Beskar count as a cortosis ore (a Electrostaff, described as being made of Phrik, has the cortosis quality). Also just being dense doesn't necessarily grant protection from fire. But otherwise it seems sound.

However you also have to remember to actually slice into something you need to get to the terminal. This isn't cyberpunk kids hacking into government-secure databases from their basements.

>TLTs ruined the game so hard that they have to give the Imps a proper carrier as well so they can still claim it's balance

Yeah scum and rebels totally care about 2 guaranteed dmg with their regen and gorillion sheilds and hull.

I'm going to guess in typical imperial fashion, the AWACS Gozanti wasn't equipped with a bevy of safety features in case somebody backhacked it and overloaded it, but basically it seems like Hera poured too much data/power back up the pipe through Chop that their system crashed. You can hear one of the cyborgs say the fuel cells are compromised so I think their power or engines melted down. Which is totally something that would happen in star wars - they have no guard rails.

I never could balance power requirements for beam weapons.

It just seems so cringe and contrived.

In star wars terms, what's the equivalent to a bunch of Somali pirates hijacking ships in their vicinity and holding crew hostage for ransoms?

>In star wars terms, what's the equivalent to a bunch of Somali pirates hijacking ships in their vicinity and holding crew hostage for ransoms?
The exact same thing, but with Space Somalis and starships? Star Wars pirates do that stuff all the time.

Welcome to SW. Or at least core canon.

The Emperor dies because for some reason he has a bottomless pit with no railing in his throne room.

It's not like Vader couldn't have just stabbed him in the back with Luke's lightsaber if that bottomless pit wasn't there.

>no railing
Dont be silly there was a railing there. Vader was leaning on it while still feeling shocked

Yes and no. The old CIS Shadowfeed used military-strength pirate signals to form an alternate HoloNet. If anything can override the HoloNet, it's this transmitter.

That's just making an alternative HoloNet, not hacking into the original one.

K.

If there were like multiple large-scale governments in the Galaxy as in Legends post-Endor, I'd imagine they'd all have their own local HoloNets much like the Shadowfeed tbqh.
