They'll do well against anything worse than a 3+ save, which is quite a lot of armies, and even then they'll do well.

If you do run into marines/meq, keep your maul guys away from their dedicated melee guys with ap3, etc. and you'll be golden.

What are some changes you'd like to see in 8th edition?

I have no idea how balanced these would be but I like the idea of some more fluffy rules. For example:

Shotguns should fire at full ballistic skill in overwatch.

Chainswords shouldn't be lumped into CCW and should actually have some rules and a points cost. AP6, maybe or shred.

Vehicles with hull mounted flamers should be able to use them in overwatch when being charged from that facing.

I'd reduce the costs of power weapons and pistols across the board. 5 pt power weapons and 5-10 point plasma/inferno pistols mean they might actually be worth taking on fucklechuck sergeants.

Also, vet sarge upgrade should only be 2 points instead of 10.

Sweeping advance should ONLY be allowed on a very few select units, typically those which are melee only. This will nerf a lot of units which are meant to be shooting, and buff melee units.

Also, it should be based on a total percentage of wounds in a unit.

This way a player doesn't lose two models out of fifty in a melee, just for the entire unit to die. This will also stop players from just putting wounds on a few random troops (with multiple wounds a character) to avoid the model loss.
