What are some Veeky Forums games will Excellent Fluff, but awful crunch?

Exalted springs to mind.

Shadowrun. I wouldn't call it excellent or even good but it just does something that nothing else really does. The rules make it a fucking nightmare to get people into though.

...

DnD/Pathfinder

any 40k rpg

people are going to assume this is bait. but im being serious.

RIFTS

I'm intrigued.

>any 40k rpg

Seems like it's 40k in general desu

If it wasn't for the insane lore, literally nobody would give a fuck at all.

the rpg's are a special kind of shit though. Only war is missing pages. Not the pdf, the actual in-print book refferences things that dont exist. theres a sidebar in one of the books that is supposedly continued from another page, but when you check that page there's nothing there.

...

Scion, easily the best example

>Elder Scrolls
>excellent fluff
Fuck off Todd

If someone brought in a 'fixed/unified' version of Shadowrun, would you look into it?

Elder scrolls had literal god-tier fluff, at least before Kirkbride left.

>Elder scrolls had literal god-tier fluff

>Excellent Fluff, but awful crunch
Isn't this the standard?

Nah, often the fluff is shit too

Yes, but not if it's the janky Shadowrun Anarchy thing they tried to do.

This man speaks the truth.

>DND/PF
>excellent fluff

RIFTS

Use 2E rules

>40K RPG
>bad crunch
nope

Doesn't count, it's satire. That's like complaining about the original Hackmaster being a shitty AD&D clone.

>40k
I agree with the crunch, but the OP specified good fluff as well.

SR's rules aren't even that bad. They are a crunchfest but it's really workable.

CthulhuTech springs to mind.
The reboot looks promising, at least.

>SR fluff
>excellent

Maybe in 3rd edition but not now.

Partial 1e-2e-3.5 D&D, things actually followed on, had continuity, edition changes were in-lore events, and they had a running comic book series which is Canon.

4e-5e threw it all away for nu-males, dosh, negroes, and Neverwinter Online annd a failure at trying to become the next MLP.

>Good canon continuity
Drizz't is forever shit.

Let's try to pretend this is the universe where he didn't kill his sister, and was also ousted by Lloth for being the autistic supported by her blessing that he is because he's such a Drow failure he went full circle, and his hype eventually get's him killed when Demogogron slaps him into the lowest layer of the Abyss, where he gets the Kaldor Draigo treatment.
