Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!
Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

There's also a roll20 room where new players are encouraged to try the rules, test new rules, and find game breaking issues: app.roll20.net/join/346755/hRKd4w If you're looking to learn, post here in the thread. We also play Guy Windsor's card game Audatia in the room.
I don't even know if I'll be living where I am in a year, but I want to abuse the mechanics for car fighting rules.
Fuck your HEMAboo schilt-tag vormtag bullshit, I want Mad Max Chrylsers skullfucking toyotas on the tarmac in hot, realistic, d10 pools
Carson Williams
Why didn't you use Car Wars or GURPS Autoduel?
Andrew Taylor
Because GURPS makes my players think they're allowed to make choices for themselves, and Car Wars is for thirty-year-old nostalgics

Does anyone want to clue me in on why you would ever use a zweihander when you could just buy a spear?
Justin King
It does a lot of cutting damage and is therefore really good at Breaking, and the only thing it's bad at is thrusting. A better question is, if you wanted a good cutting weapon, what would be better than a zweihander? Remember that 2H Sword is basically the strongest proficiency.
Jose Myers
Uhh, in-game? Because it's a sword, which gives you lots of maneuvers Spear doesn't get. It's great for cutting, which works well with power attacks and flourishing drills. Your question is backwards, you should be asking why you'd use a spear instead of a zweihander.

does ballad have rules for tank combat?

So lets get back to the actual rules discussion? Other then the more puzzle based monster how well do you anons think the more combat focused monsters would work? The test zombie and skeletons feel a bit boring.

Zellish Guts is stupid.
We need a waifumancer. A foppish sop obsessed with all these rough women with their wild ways. He chases, always, Gizka and Eskarne, Joan and the Pontifatrix, and the Moon, too. His hunt has no end, and he can never rest, but he is glad. He knows he is on the path of virtue.

I should note that, obviously, he pays the perpetually willing sort of individual vast sums of money for certain particulars. From these women. Joan's handkerchief, Gizka's discarded orange peel, and other things... No, no, he certainly shouldn't have anything resembling martial skill. Of course this shouldn't shake his rock-solid confidence in his ability. He's read manuals. Lots of manuals.
Kevin Carter
Hips currently have 7/5/5 From the Layering of Mail, Mail, and Quilt. Lower Head is only 4/3/3.
I'd swap the Quilted Coat for a Heavy Quilted Shirt. Same Weight, you don't need the Textile on your knees and shoulders, and it makes your hips 7/5/6 with 9 AVP against non firearm missiles.
Cut the Mail Coat to a Mail Shirt, to lose 1 Weight, You've got Mail Leggings as well so you won't lose any Layer on the Legs. From there get a Mail Camail and a Quilted Coif, same amount of weight, but now your Lower Head is 6/4/5, or, if your GM allows it, a quilted Helm under the Sallet for 6/5/6 on the Lower Head.
Aaron Nguyen
Your mother is stupid, not Zellish Guts.
Xavier Hall
Also with the Camail you gain Layer on your Gorget as well.
Oliver Sanders

Anyone have any ideas for stats for a pata?
Juan Fisher
Here is the size for comparison.
Nathaniel Morales
I've seen plenty in museums, but how often were they actually used in combat? Patas always struck me as decidely impractical and more suited to being a ceremonial item or oriental curio (hence the popularity with collectors) than for battlefield use.
Hudson Russell
+10 Fisting
Chase Ortiz
I understand why you would think that but most of the weapons from India have that odd feel and they did get used. There is also a large number of patas that are very bland looking making ceremonial use less likely. Even the Muslim eventual started to use them so it seems more likely that even though they might not have been widespread they cant just be written off as a joke weapons.
James Williams
Interesting, do you have any good examples of use?
Who wielded Patas and in what battlefield role?
William Cook
Its pretty hard to find stuff in English but there are records of it being used in the siege of Gujarat and it being in general use during much of the mughal period. I don't have more time right now but found a number of articles of historical battle records that mention them and will check them tomorrow and post my findings.

Save that money and buy version 2 of the core rules then it comes out.
For the shorter versions, of dagger like length, maybe allow the use of some pugilist maneuvers.
Xavier Sanders
That'd make sense with Katar as well.
>[Great Swords]hauing also the great crosse, was found out, to the end it should be handled one to one at an equall match, as other weapons, of which I haue intreated. But because one may with it (as a galleon among many gallies) resist many Swordes, or other weapons: Therefore in the warres, it is used to be placed neere unto the Ensigne or Auncient, for the defence thereof, because, being of it selfe hable to contend with manie, it may better sauegard the same. And it is accustomed to be carried in the Citie, aswell by night as by day, when it so chaunceth that a few are constrayned to withstand a great manie.
Should there be a Talent that requires and builds on Flourishing Drills and Requires a length of L or VL so that once FD activates you can parry either more than one opponent or just more than once per round.
Jayden Perry
Or instead of taking the Camails, you can take the 1 weight and remove the 1 weight of the Gorget and get a Bevor.

A musket with ball does 11p+BS damage, you have 10 AVP + TOU, so you're pretty safe from bullets.
Connor Sanchez
I don't mind if it's a foolish man even. Hell, it doesn't even have to be human, I just want some examples for the nobles. Like, I assume that a Minor Noble is like a knight, but what about the rest?
Jace Morales
Minor Noble is a knight or landless noble. Landed Noble is a baron or maybe a count. High Noble is something like a Duke. Royalty is a king, and High Royalty is a big king or maybe an Emperor. They're really loose categories.
