Man, it really doesn't make sense for their sleek, high-power, high-tech designs, but I wish that Triglav had a carrier design. My dick is super hard for them and I want my sexy space-shed.

...

SDA loves penis

True, sort of, but then I'm forced to wonder why the hell you even added AI to the CYOA. Can it do everything or not, CYOA author?

I'm surprised the Heralds don't have a carrier since they are noted as apparently using tons of fighters.

To be fair, their fighters are on the level of frigates for other species. They might just use them more extensively.

False dichotomy, bruh. Maybe AI has a hard cap on how fast it can be very scientific reasons. Different universe, different physics, quit trying to bullshit your way to being "right".

Because I like AI and while I like realism, there's a lot of laws we gotta break.

Or the AI might be intentionally limited due to concerns over rogue AI ship driven fleets taking over humanity and using them as pets. On a completely unrelated note I'm reposing a CYOA I haven't seen in a few threads.

I'm treating the Stardust universe as "like reality except as noted," so forgive me for trying to apply physics and internal consistentcy. Also, my point is that reactor monitoring is going to be the same level of difficulty for nuclear power or antimatter, and nuclear might even be easier and less potentially lethal. Why does it require a specific technician when antimatter doesn't and why are all the nuclear engineering companions so shit?

>Onboard FTL warp drives work on small scale space travel, IE within a star system. Traveling between stars would require further assistance of some sort, which is why there are acceleration gates in each system to propel you forward to a different system.

Wait so you're essentially restricted to known star systems?

If we have the technology to contain and harness antimatter in the matter that's treated in the CYOA, then we'd have the technology for having all the things I've noted.

Everything is as it is in the CYOA now because it's sci fi.

You're free to use your ship's FTL to go from system to system, but that's considered slowboating. Those known systems had to be established in the first place, right?

Can you answer this

>He hasn't planned to commandeer an a-Gate and point it at an interesting looking star.

Just saw your post in the old thread, thanks.

Okay, let's hash this out. I'm going to list a set of assumptions I'm making, and you tell me where I'm going wrong.

>Fact A: Nuclear power (both kinds) requires a technician
>Fact B: Antimatter does not require a technician
>Assumption 1: Antimatter does not require significant human oversight (reason: B)
>Assumption 2: Antimatter generators are not perfectly self-contained black boxes (reason: how do you refill them otherwise)
>Assumption 3: Antimatter generators require some form of oversight to maintain energy production
>Conclusion X(1,2,3): Some non-human thing is maintaining oversight on antimatter generators
>Assumption 4: There are no secret gremlins maintaining the antimatter generators
>Fact C: The AI exists on the ship, and is a non-human thing capable of maintaining the antimatter generators
>Conclusion Y(X,4,C): The AI is maintaining the antimatter generators
>Assumption 5: Nuclear power requires significant oversight by a trained human (reason: A)
>Assumption 6: Nuclear power is less dangerous than antimatter power (reason: physics, energy density)
>Assumption 7: Nuclear power is less complex than antimatter power (reason: 6)
>Conclusion Z(5,6,7,C): The AI should be capable of maintaining the nuclear generators
>Fact D: The AI cannot maintain the nuclear generators
>Therefore: what the fuck

How slow is that?

>Origin

Time Kidnapped

"Am I dead?" I ask the blank space. A relieved sigh answered back, as if it were from everywhere at once. "I'm so glad it worked. I've been watching you for a while, but when that car almost hit you, I had to act." I blink. "So I'm not dead?" The voice chuckled. "No. I kidnapped you." I raise from the floor. "Excuse me?"

>Ship Focus

Exploration

"... And that's where you are right now." as I motion to sit, the floor raised to me, confirming the control the voice, the Ship has."You have to choose now, the Focus. I know it's a tough choice, but it's best to choose this first." I ponder on all that information. "First of all... Thank you for saving me. As for the focus, I always wanted to explore the space." I said, with a smile.

>Captain's Chair

Comfy

"The part about illegal replication is true?" I asked, puzzled by such a weird bit of info. "The Anti-Chair Replication Task Force is a force specialized in hunting down and eliminating all of those who dare to replicate such comfiness." The voice replies matter-of-factly. I wait for her to laugh, but it never comes.

>Aesthetics

Ship's Choice

The area around me finally takes shape, raising, lowering, being added stairs, furniture and rooms. In no time, I'm standing in an incredibly homely and cozy room. "You're not awake yet, but this is the base I'm working on the entire space." I smile, not sure if she sees me or not. "I absolutely love it. It feels like I'm home in a Christmas night."

I'd say assumption six is pretty up there. Maybe anti-matter batteries are just easier to use.

"This is perfect for processing the info we'll gather, sweetie." She said, and my vision was clouded for a second, then what seemed like an boot screen showed up, then disappeared as soon as it finished. "It'll take a little while to get used to, but it'll be so much fun!"

>VR System

MMO Focus

"So, there's one where you're in a war with guns, and other where you are in a war with sword and magic. There's also MMORPGs, where usually Humans have their ships play as their companions. I'd love to travel with you in one of those, cupcake." I laughed at the nickname.

>Food

Ship Grown

"I have so many recipes to test!" She said, with a very happy voice. "I'll make you breakfast, lunch and dinner, and any snacks you want, as much as you want!" I unconsciously put my hand to my stomach, but I wasn't hungry. I still wanted to try them all.

I heard a squeal of delight, now coming from a single spot, right in front of me. I suddenly jolt, now sitting in a bed, as comfortable as the most ones on earth. I then looked to my side, and saw a pair of blue eyes staring back at me. A silver haired girl, with just a pajama, was lying down next to me. "Hello, sweetheart. Good morning!" She said, and then hugged me. "Breakfast?" I smiled at her, and hugged her back. "Of course. Can you make french toast?

...

Are you still trying to argue the physics of the setting when we have several-km-long battleships floating through space? I've given my reasons and, again, if you want to go that far, then everything else in the CYOA is unviable and impossible.

Fast enough to get you from one end of a system to the other in a few minutes.

Define system.

How powerful/dangerous is the Fire Legion? Could I distract them with a bigger target if they ever decided to come after me?

Might just be that because anti-matter is so dangerous it is required to have a built in regulatory system of it's own that happens to be very expensive, even though it might be cheaper to just higher an engineer to maintain the system like you can do with nuclear systems.

It's not so much physics as all the nuclear engineering companions are shit and I don't want to pay double for a system that's objectively not worth it.

>Assumption 7
There's your problem, and anti-matter engine is basically the engine in your car except for two things.
1. Instead of introducing the fuel to heat it is introduced to matter.
2. The inside of the system must be a perfect vacuum with a magnetic shield to prevent the anti-matter from reacting with the air/engine.
You don't need an AI to run a fuel injector system or keep a force field up.

The heliopause on one side of a star to the heliopause on the other side of the star?

Then be a nuclear engineer your self? I mean you can run 2 or 3 jobs on your ship.

And you do for nuclear?

Sorry, with you on this one, but you are aware that space is a vacuum with (basically) no gravity, right? I don't see how big ships fly in the face of physics.

Constantly monitor the current energy output vs. safe energy output vs. needed energy output and adjust the various control rods and spacers to change the rate of a constant reaction.

I suppose that would make sense, though that would mean it would only take like two days for a ship to go from one system to another. A week tops.

Sorry, forgot to add, even currently is mostly handled by AI, with people only around because 1. AI is in its infancy and 2. people don't 100% know what to do in every situatuion so how are they supposed to teach a computer.

And how exactly would a Han Solo-esque space smuggler become an accredited nuclear engineer? Piloting, I can fluff as having experience; combat, I can write as living in a very rough neighborhood and dealing with some tough customers; even mechanics can be fluffed as "I want my ship to work."

Still doesn't explain why antimatter doesn't need one. I'm not looking at physics so much as I'm looking at internal consistency.

And nuclear isn't the same as mechanics? Mechanics means being able to keep your plasma cannons and faster than light engine running. Nuclear power is comparatively simple.

>Still doesn't explain why antimatter doesn't need one.
Because its a fuel injection system, you know that thing in cars that's been running on a purely mechanical system since calculator was job title and computers weren't even in sci-fi. The only difference is you need a force field to stop it from touching the sides, but you don't need an AI to keep a switch flipped to on, and in fact should do away with the switch entirely.

>"I want my ship to work."
>"My power core though, that doesn't need to work lmao."

Pretty much this They're pretty powerful in their owned space, enough to give the Blackhawks, Daggers and Talons a hard time. So long as you don't really go in their territory, the most you'll face is proportionate to whatever you're flying and that's on a bad day.

That would depend on what kind of target you mean. If you're talking about Comet, they have an innate sense of where she is all the time. Not an accurate picture but enough for them to send something in your general direction.

I mean more or less the reason to have several-km long battleships in the first place. There's no reason to have something that large when a tiny ship that's carrying hull busters can jeopardize your multi-trillion dollar investment.

>I mean more or less the reason to have several-km long battleships in the first place. There's no reason to have something that large when a tiny ship that's carrying hull busters can jeopardize your multi-trillion dollar investment.
Yes there is, or did I miss something and everyone stopped living is cites just because a tiny plane carrying a nuke could erase it from the map?

Hey, do you like giant girls, /cyoa/?
I sure do. So I made this CYOA.

It's big, so please point out any mistakes, inconsistencies, or possible naughty bits (I checked/edited everything very, very thoroughly, though, so there shouldn't be any!).
Thanks to two very special people in the Discord acting as my critics. You guys rock.

In case the quality is shit, I apologize, but if I saved it as a PNG they would have been 15+ MB. I'll upload them somewhere else at a certain point for archival purposes, so they'll be all super pretty when I get them up there.

Anyway, here it is!

...

I actually quite like this build. It's simple and doesn't try to be flashy. Quite passable for a small merc group looking for small jobs.

A bit reliant on rail guns as your main damage dealer, though. You'd be a sitting duck against an opponent who knows your weak point is close by; you're almost exclusively a sniper boat.

For fleet engagements? It wouldn't make sense to put your city in the middle of the battlefield. Small platforms with guided weapon systems is enough, and heck, maybe by this time we'll have weapons that can efficiently project between systems. Who knows what range our space fights would be fought during this time, if we even have space fights.

...

>That would depend on what kind of target you mean.
I was thinking something similar to this.

Ah, that's good to know since I'm taking the demi-god title.

You make an interesting point.

I like this cyoa, but one option in particular just seems jarringly wrong. Under aesthetics, ship's choice is said to be the option that gives the strongest relationship between ship and human, and this honestly makes no sense. She builds the entire thing with no input at all from the human, and this somehow brings them closer? If anything, one of the cooperative options should accomplish that.

Man, everything about that scene is crazy. I love it, the madmen. Yeah, I don't see why not.

I'm not sure if I specified it in the lore section of the CYOA, but as of late, there have been a lot of Blackhawk patrols and blockades in the area down "south" since the Fire Legion has been fucking around a lot. So, if you're ever in trouble and you're being chased by a fuckton of their ships, it can't hurt to bring them into one of their blockades.

She builds the entire thing with no input at all from the human, and this somehow brings them closer? If anything, one of the cooperative options should accomplish that.

The logic is that by giving it the liberty to build as it sees fit focusing on it's own comfort shows your trust, plus it appreciates your consideration.

>waaah why are people posting cyoas in /cyoag/, this is supposed to be my private shitpost forum

Got you covered.

Thanks senpai

Mana blasters and railguns both fill opposite niches, but ideally you'd want a fleet to operate that sort of flexibility. Maybe two ships with one and the other. In your case, you have weapons that are exclusively for really long ranged engagements but nothing to really mitigate the issue of enemies getting close.

For solo builds, you're probably gonna want to go with a more balanced option. Or, if you want to fill in your ship's weakness, get something like cloaking or the Herald command mod to escape. Maybe a faster ship to kite with or the Triglav command mod to hold them in place to steady your railgun aiming.

Don't get it. We're discussing CYOAs and he seems to think it's off topic?

I guess he's just angry that I'm posting a lot.

I mean, post all you want. It's not bothering me. I just don't understand why you seem bothered no one is responding.

He's angry you arent posting enough, clearly you need to use the image limit up with smug anime .pngs.

I mean, the ship also outright states they love you too, so it's like trusting it to make the both of you happy?

My jimmies are unrustled, I merely have to wait a minute between posts.

...

When was the last time you saw an CYOA general reach image limit. Honest question.

I can sort of see that, but at the same time even something small like saying the human can give suggestions while she's designing everything make it seem like a much more couple-building exercise than what's presented. To me at least.

I dont believe its happened yet, so lets spam it till we can, we will honour our ancestors by undertaking this glorious task.

I just plain don't agree. Sorry, user. You'll never convince me on this point. Tons of writing is the best.

I think for more balanced option maybe mix heavy blasters with rail guns since it says those do lots of damage at close range?

Just delete it quickly.

I like writing, but it's much better if it's interspersed as you go. I really like the CYOAs that dole out a bit on each page--like that Prince/Princess one that I can never remember the name of. A lot of lore/text/conversation over the course of a work is fine. All clustered up in the intro, however, is a big turn off. At least for me.

sda, you misspelled tomahawk

By balanced, I mean artillery or even laser cannons. My point is that you don't really have anything to address close-ranged combat.

Why not both?
