Druids
are
GHEY!

quantity of magic items

What is the purpose of this every thread? It doesn't bother me one way or another, I'm just puzzled as to what you get out of it.

Previous thread here

>What are some things you don't miss from previous editions?
Choice overload with trap options.

He's a shitposter trying to force a meme. Stop giving him attention, you retard.

Thiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssss

>It doesn't bother me one way or another
T R I G G E R E D

What can we expect in the UA today?
2nd & 3rd level spells?

>What are some things you don't miss from previous editions?
Dozens of rulebooks and players who insist on being allowed to source all of them during chargen.

All the idiotic things meant to bring martials down, such as rogue not being able to sneak attack 70% of the Monster Manual.

What would be good components for Karsus's Avatar?

Oh shit, there's an UA today. Yes, I expect spells.

>Today's UA: High-Flying Maneuvers.

I wouldn't mind more manuevers for battlemaster.

It's the only 10th level spell and it steals the divinity from a god and gives it to you, so I can't imagine it would be practically castable in any way in game. Karsus had the resources of the entire Netherese empire at his disposal, as well as magical training and knowledge simply not available now.

If making a mythal required the elves to sacrifice themselves, you'd need a thousand powerful wizards to give their lives (you can bring them back if the spell works) and an entire empire's worth of resources that the spell devours. You also need to rub your balls on the complete set of the Nether Scrolls.

>Today's UA: Lissandri, Goddess of Half-Elves

Your waifu is shit, and you should be ashamed that you ever published her online.

Skill points
Level adjustment/racial hit dice
Racial ability score penalties
Prestige classes
Base attack bonus
An excess of useless, redundant, unnecessary or just plain stupid character options
Lots of tiny bonuses that people count and recount over and over again in hopes that they missed one that will let them pass whatever check they were trying to make

...

>Today's UA: Aberration Player Options

this guy again

>worshipping our Lady of the Mules

Hilarious. It's like you think you're people!

How does mounting with the revised Beast Master work? Can your companion still attack on its own initiative (so without the level 5 feature) or does it then only count as a normal mount?

...

Fuck you. Stop forcing your homebrew. Or even better, hang yourself.

If you want to play as some unholy and retarded fetish porn mongoloid with no place in civilized society, you already have the gnomes

>How does mounting with the revised Beast Master work?
Same way as always, user. From behind, using hogties.

runnin out of sad reaction images...

So we did >rolling for stats
And I got myself a fun line.

I can arrange as I want. I have the following:
18
18
17
13
12
3

I plan on making a bestial kind of character. Effectively an animal companion for thr group. We have a Ranger, Druid and Bard, so there are plenty of things to help control it, and a Warlock of the old gods, who should be able to communicate somewhat with me, if I remember the old gods initial ability correctly.

What would you suggest? Help me build a fun character that can get away with action like a dumb brute of some kind. I dont want the stereotypical dumb Neanderthal dude with a large club, but rather an actual "animal intelligence" character, more akin to a dog or cat, who cant speak at all. I will probably go with something like a Gnome and refluff it slightly, but I am open to better suggestions.

Any great ideas come to mind? The outlander "raised by wolves" backstory would tie in well, but also feels a tad obvious.

Class is still my primary concern though. I vsnt really figure out a class tgat would work well as a complete idiot that can't speak.

I like this idea

How would running out of the abyss as a first time DM pan out?

i hate this idea

Just put the 3 in charisma and be an ugly and repulsive motherfucker.
Just like real life

>3
Your character cannot even function. I would've just said NPC'd and reroll.

>NPC'd a character who has 2 18s and a 17
While he might be lacking in one department, he more than makes up for it in the others

Lacking? If his attribute(3) were to lower at any point, he dies instantly. Or did they change that this edition?

Hello board, is it possible to integrate COS after LMOP?
And if so how would you go about it? Thanks.

I should add that i have a decently homebrewed LMOP , i may just end up connecting nezznar to strahd but still.
They're a 3 pc party so maybe goign into the camapign with higher level will balance it otu a bit.

Which one is better?
6 Arcane Trickster Rogue (Hand crossbow spec)

or

3 Arcane Trickster / 3 Bladesinger (and the rest of the level in bladesinger)

The first one will be able to do more damage but the second one look like it got more options.

don't mc

>retarded fetish porn mongoloid
???

Possible, but I wouldn't advise it. The two adventures have vastly different mood and feel to it.

3 levels in Arcane Trickster, two levels in blade singer, rest in Arcane trickster

You get to be the thing you actually are supposed to be, and take all the useful bits out of the thing you want the thing which you actually want to be that makes it be better

it's more lethal than other published campaigns, so you might have to stumble a couple of times through it. i'd recommend you lost mines of phandelver and then jump into any of the other published works.

Quite the opposite, the only thing I want from arcane trickster is Mage Hand Legerdemain.

Yeah i hear you, but i do run the camapign slightly more seriously than it was intended to be.
The main problem is how the levelling system is preferred in cos, by doing milestones, where i do XP instead.

That sounds incredibly stupid. Run me by your concept

is this with or without racials?
because with this you can literally be a god at anything and just suck at your dump stat.

your safest bets are 3 STR or 3 CHA, if you can get racials in there, just make the 3 a 5 or 4, and one of the 18s a 20, if you went with a 5, then you can pick resilient feat and make it a 6 with proficiency so you don't automatically die to saves with it, unless it is str or cha, which you won't ever need either way.

i'd say a martial would be a huge waste of those stats, with those stats you can be an amazing gish or spellcaster. half-elf, hexblade, 3+1STR, 18+2CHA, 18CON, 17+1DEX, 12INT, 13WIS and call it a day.

Noone?

I want to make a Beast Master but I'm unsure if I make a small character who mounts his companion and goes into melee or someone who supports his companion at range.
I want to make a stealth duo, but the wolf and panther both get features to knock enemies down, which is shitty for a ranged ranger.

Several creatures have 2 int

Does anyone have the most recent version of the Martial Options hombrew made by that one user?
The only two versions I've found are the 1.0:
drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw05QT69rQHXNDRER3RDdjlJS28/view

and 1.5, which was last updated July 2015
archive.4plebs.org/dl/tg/image/1435/96/1435961027148.pdf

A sneaky wizard instead of a rogue with wizard power?

Sounds perfect for a monk my man
Fluff it as a feral humanoid (or whatever), play him like a barbarian. Go Open Hand, pounce on people and lay into them. Spam flurry's knockdown effect and maul dudes

Go 3 into CHA because you're basically a dirty, nasty Tarzan raised by wolves or whatever

you're obsessed w/ this 'brew!

I can agree with that, but I wouldn't say that makes LG 'not nice'.
He's the cop that's more likely to let you get away with minor infringements and such if he thinks you're honestly not a real threat to everyone. He's the sort who'd be least happy to have to have somebody scalped for what they've done, but is prepared to have it happen, as it's what everybody would want and better for everyone's security.
Lawful neutral is the one that does it with a lot less heart and lawful evil might even take pleasure in administering punishment themelf. That's what distinguishes them apart.

Without racials.

But my dumb stat is going to be int. The question is what to do with the rest.

>Today's UA: Adventuring Cuisine. Cook aberrations gain power.

>Rolling for stats
>It's another low intellect character, because they're so fun, right? I mean, why play a character when you could play a DOG?
>Read original post again, oh shit, it is a pet

But to be honest, I don't really see a lot of good experiences with low intellect characters. They're just cheap laughs who don't really contribute a lot to the game.

>A complete idiot that can't speak
Link.
HYAA
HAAAA
HYA

Has anyone tried playing via Discord? Post pre-written descriptions, riddles, combats ect while chatting online.

Done it a few times.

It seems good for roleplaying focus, but I find it allows people laziness and games can be a bit slower through that.

Should Krakens have psychic influence (i.e. be able to create Kraken Priests and stuff) when they're still in eggs, or should I just keep the egg as a black box McGuffin until it hatches? I feel like adventurers carrying around a thing that messes with their brains is a little played-out, but it also makes it easier to find an excuse to give it to them.

>but rather an actual "animal intelligence" character, more akin to a dog or cat, who cant speak at all.

Make a dench Kenku? Like, you come from this tribe of scrawny birdmen, but you were born a birdy beefcake with the stamina to spook you enemies all night long without breaking a sweat .

don't dump int, it's not going to be fun when you literally can't do shit but fight because you can't justify logical thought process or understand languages.

just dump CHA and be a deformed motherfucker.

>Today's UA: Warlord Class.

>What are some things you don't miss from previous editions?

Assumed wealth/treasure by level factored into CR calculations

That art is really bad.

3 cha would be some problems with willpower, expression and all that rather than physical deformity.

It'd basically give you a ridiculously low self-esteem, too shy to do anything and have everybody walk all over you all day.

3 dex would be the most fun.

4E art always cracks me up pic related.

i'm playing a 6 dex, 7 con wizard and let me tell, it's pretty fucking fun. the dm is terrified of targeting me with anything, because he doesn't want my character to die for plot reasons but he keeps almost killing every other member only for my character to save them with portent and shit.

>implying

Also, if anyone has any ideas for conditions needed to hatch a kraken egg, hit me with them. Nobody else in my group has read ASOIAF so I feel pretty comfortable ripping off fan theories for it, but I'm going for something more lighthearted than "murder about an entire town's worth of people," at least until the egg has hatched.

No.

Keep it under the sort of extreme pressure you'd find in the deep sea.

I've made literally one post man, I'm just curious if this is the final version.

How are the mass combat rules from UA?

biologically speaking, the kraken egg would die when brought to the surface. it probably needs very specific concentrations of oxygen in water and pressure, direct sunlight would probably irradiate it with much more UV radiation than it could survive in.

so your best bet is anything magical you want, i'd say a embryo kraken would still exert some degree of psychic energy, but assuming krakens are anything like real cephalopods (they aren't but w.e), they are probably born really, really small, but completely formed as adults, and just grow in all directions with age, brain and psionics included.

Can only be hatched in the eye of an ocean storm. Otherwise, it's borderline indestructible, so in nature, it gets swept into storms and is born into the scenes of destruction it's required to cause as it grows in order to feed.

You are thinking of 0.

So, let's be clear about something.

Average intelligence is 8-10 for non-pcs.

5 int would be a turbo retard.

3 means you can't function as a humanoid, not you'd revert to some animalistic form.

Unless you're playing some homebrew literal animal, this is gonna get Lange really fast.

Barbarian is probably your best bet, though.

Also everyone in the thread that thinks charisma has anything to do with appearance is a fucking idiot. You can be ugly as shit and have a high charisma, it's just related to your inborn ability to influence other people to join your way of thought.

For reference, politicians are often ugly, and charismatic.

Dump intelligence, put 18 in Charisma and play Wesey Willis as a Bard. I've always wanted to but you can't play him with point buy.

No.

How many magic item should a level 6 character start with? DMG said 500gp and no magic item... that seems wrong...

I'm going with "Krakens are the chosen monsters of the meanie ocean goddess" approach, so I'm not binding their eggs to normal water rules.

So I did something absolutely stupid and gave my players two of apparatus of kwalish for a quest reward, but they rarely use it and now I want to fuck with them. Each one has a never mentioned hidden lever. Webm related is what it does.
Can anyone give me a good set up to have them do this? I feel like a generic "Big lizard thing attacks" would be a bit too on the nose.

>That seems wrong
But it's 5e.

Seems ok. I'd give them a +1 weapon or a uncommon magic item that wasn't too strong if I was feeling generous

Shouldn't martials have at least a magic weapon?
Monk and Druid get their magical attack at level 6.

It's not like you absolutely need one unless your DM throws endless non-magical-weapon-resistant enemies at you.
And if you need one, the DM can throw you one somewhere along the lines as part of the story instead of 'obligatory buffs to your character'.

Monks aren't very damaging in the first place and druids are goddamn druids.

Tales from the Yawning Portal answers some of this

Not only you need a salt water tank, you need that tank to be transmutated to keep itself pure all the time, and have a potent enchantment to keep its mind powers stable

Additionally to that, I'd add you have to have a source of immense electricity, and a conduit to the elemental plane of water

I haven't looked through that book and can't get a copy on my phone too easily right now - could you screenshot the part that talks about it?

This was supposed to be a reply to the kraken issue

technically 0 intelligence stuns you indeterminately, or until you recover some intelligence.

going with the monster manual, Int

not readily either, but what I said is basically the gist of it.
The red wizards of thay are raising an aquatic army of monsters, one of which is a malformed kraken.
They are kept in water tanks that have to be constantly kept pure and mind enchantments to keep them sane

anyone elese?

>Pools. The saltwater pools in this sector are 50 feet
deep, and the surface of each pool is 1 foot below the
surrounding floor. lt takes 5 extra feet of movement to
move from a pool onto the floor. Unless otherwise noted,
transmutation magic in each pool keeps the water clean.
The pools also exude enchantment magic. Living in
the water causes hypnotic dreams that, after weeks or
months of exposure, improve combat skill and imbue
most creatures with strong devotion to the Red Wizards

One of which is a malformed kraken.

Is "pure" defined at all - like is salt water considered pure for it?

What he said
Is very applicable. If you're looking for an alternative to death house as an intro adventure, perhaps consider Sunless Citadel. It's got a white dragon you can refluff into having something to do with Argynvost, and a Gulthias tree.

If you simply must do mines of phandelver, the book gives you a Forgotten Realm Factions based plot hook with which to dump them straight in Vallakis, with Ireena already there as a refugee, wanting desperately to consult on what to do next with madam eva.

Barovia is almost entirely skippable.

i'm sure every book tells you how to jump into it from other works, specially from LMoP, you might want to check the pdf supplements from wizard's page.
