Apparently the Raider in the latest BF trailer is the 'home base' for the player in the campaign.

Does anyone know if it will be possible to re-write or re-use that campaign to be able to use it as a split-game campaign (using a mix of Imperial Assault and X-wing)?

I'm looking for a way to have a campaign that combines the two, but I'm struggling to be able to incorporate Scum, as well as having a plot that makes sense.

Also, Should I buy a raider? It's the only imperial ship that I am missing in my collection. If I do, how should I repaint it?

Alright, /swg/, I need help fleshing out a superweapon intended to be more retarded than anything that has come before it. Dumber than the Tarkin, dumber than the Darksaber, dumber than the Sun Crusher, dumber than Starkiller Base. Raith Sienar's cocaine-fueled magnum opus: a planet covered in solar farms and turned into a giant TIE. What sort of bullshit would go into a battle station like that? What would its inner workings look like?

The RV in Breaking Bad as Raith takes to the galaxy in his own mobile hillbilly heroin and TIE fighter factory.

If you make the solar panels thermal solar you could shift all the panels to focus on one direction and blind the enemy.

Okay then, if we are going full Sienar....

Sienar being a purist, the planet will be a TIE, as in it will be moved via the use of a continent-sized Twin Ion Engine. The population and working areas will be housed in a domed area which happens to resemble the viewport of the TIE line.

Good shit. Now for weapons. If we want to go full TIE, how would one scale up the laser cannon equivalent? Hypervelocity cannon batteries? Casaba howitzers? Eclipse-class SSDs built into the ground Lusankya-style? Would it have TIE launch facilities standing in for ordnance launchers?

Not just a few, but hundreds of docking ports and TIE fighters ready for engagements, essentially making a large fighter fleet on command. Bonus points for having dedicated crews for these ports, so if a damaged TIE flies in, they can pit crew that shit and send it out in minutes.

The front hemisphere is covered in guns. The rear hemisphere is covered in solar panels with the engine exhausts. At the north pole, there's a pilot's station, at the south pole there's a gunner.

How do you loadout your Raiders in Epic?

What's a good crew? What combination of the three hardpoints is best?

I want to make an Epic list that uses a Raider and 6 TIE/FO's with Weapons Guidance and Crack Shot as a basis-. That leaves 80 points for Raider upgrades and other ships.

What else would go well here?

Again, we are going Sienar-purist, there will be two main cannons, located to the south of the habitat section. These are off-shoots of Death Star superlaser project, which while not world-destroying are still enough to punch through planetary shields and ruin things.

Speed 4 for a SIL 5 with only -1 handling is actually pretty good, god forbid the imperial crew has a helmsman who is slightly insane.

It has huge hegaxonal solar panels attached via reinforced, solid space elevators on the equator on opposing sides.
Also an enormous ion engine out the back.

Two death star superlasers at the front.
An entire continent is rebuilt as the cockpit, as millions of people man the different systems.


It still doesnt have shields or hyperdrive.

Also, it's in the Aiborl system, built up on Aiborl Prime.

Nearby, in the Zkwint system, he's building another, this one designed to go faster and have 4 death star super lasers.

Slightly further away, there's the Dewp system, where he's slaving two planets together somehow side-by-side.

Tactician is funny as shit on those things- Stress the fuck out of everyone

You probably want a late-game cleaner or a support ship.

God help us when SFS reaches its Experimental catalogue.

In the Byssaro system, a pair of planets are slaved together on either side of an enormour solar panel array. One side is given over entirely to a massive habitation dome for the crew, the other is a bigger, angrier, starkiller base

I can just imagine the Helmsman being a TIE Interceptor Ace that lost a leg when punching out and got the Helmsman position as his prosthetic leg isn't up for the stresses of void combat.

I was wondering that, my guess would be yes. The huge ships in XWM are on a different scale to the rest, and it seems likely that someone at EA didnt take that into account when designing it for the game

For hardpoints I like taking quad lasers for some range 1 firepower and an ion cannon battery on the aft. The big blindspot on the raider is right at the rear so the ion battery helps stop speedy ships flying straight for it.
Optimized generators is a good modification, basically lets you charge a hardpoint for free every turn

Now now, lets be reasonable.
How about a Gozanti an AU long which carries four of them underneath?

That's a decent offense, although the raider might struggle to turn around and be useful unless you set up facing an opposing corner. The Op-Spec+Quad Lasers+Tactician will likely be very annoying to go against.

Thrawn Trilogy was cool.

X-wing, Thrawn Trilogy, and the Han Solo trilogy are the most accepted/praised series.

My next.book is Isards Revenge in that series. Kinda shitty they spoiled it in the title.

Then again, she had a million subordinates and backup plans, so it could well have been something that she set in motion years before which finally bore fruit.

But yeah, kinda weird choice.

Also the Hand of Thrawn duology and RotS novelization. HoT is a great end-point for Legends and feels like a heartfelt farewell to the golden days of that continuity. Stover's RotS novelization was breddy gud and genuinely better than the movie. Stover did the fight scenes well and provided some good, reasonable explanations for some of the stuff that happened in the film.

X-Wing mechanics question:
Say your opponent is flying Biggs and Wedge. They're in range 1 of each other so Biggs ability is active. You've got an HWK with a synced turret, deadeye, a target lock on Wedge, and a focus token.
Can you elect to not activate deadeye, trigger your turret with the target lock, and shoot at Wedge, or do you have to use deadeye to trigger it with your focus token and shoot at Biggs?

In ESB on Bespin, after Han has been frozen, when Boba Fett is going back to his ship with two guards pushing the carbonite slab, there's a shot where Luke is hiding behind a wall and draws his blaster while Fett and the guards are walking behind. If you look at Fett in the background you can see him turning his head toward Luke when he draws.

Call me a mandofag if you want, but I've always thought that was pretty cool.

The Luke plot was a WP grenade thrown into a dumpster full of grease and week-old dipers, but the rest was OK

According to FFG's developers, Biggs does not force you to use 'may' abilities that declare him as the target.

Example 1: If a TIE Bomber with Deadeye and Proton Torpedoes has a focus and a target lock on an enemy ship that is in range 1 of Biggs (Biggs is in arc and at the same range as his buddy) does it have to use Deadeye to take the shot at Biggs instead of his target locked buddy?

: No. The TIE bomber could choose to not use the first effect of Deadeye (as it is a may effect to treat "Attack (target lock)" as Attack (focus)”). In that example, by choosing to use Proton Torpedoes, the only valid attack you have with that weapon is the other ship so Biggs’s ability does not come into effect.

If English is your first language, clean up your text- It's difficult to understand.

The empire ships MM has for their spring sale (Tie Punisher and Tie/FO) aren't bad but they're mostly good for cards - the Twin Ion Engine and Omega Leader cards respectively.

for starting out you can basically go with anything. Depending on what you want to spend an Interceptor, Imperial Aces or Imperial Veterans are good stuff.

Dark Rendevous and Shatterpoint are the best Clone Wars era books.

Anything by Zahn - Thrawn Trilogy, Spectre of the Past, Vision of the Future, and Outbound Flight.
Survivors Quest is also solid.

Have you read the Medstar duology? Its like MASH but star wars.

Not all the NJO is bad. I know that's an unpopular opinion but I liked some of the Vong stories.

This will give you everything you need for a nice Triple Defender list and the old Imp Aces list. Defenders have been nerfed recently, but it's not a nerf that destroys them, you just actually have to try to fly them intelligently now.

I wonder what the Imperial equivalent to Wraith Squadron is like. Not like, Baron Fel whips 181 into shape but the actual misfits and near washouts who are somehow also freakishly good at what they do.

Or perhaps they're like the A-Team or something, had to get kicked out of proper service, but still cruise the galaxy, righting wrongs, helping people, sometimes even fighting their own government if their corrupt.

Yeah Medstar was quite enjoyable. Seeing doctors in and out of the medical room. Along with Barris getting some development. (Until she goes full jihad)

Guess if they're still technically 'in' Imperial service, the dirty dozen full of murderers, thieves, crazies and other scoundrels could make for some fearsome opponents.
Plus, any time PC's come up against someone with even less scruples than themselves is a cause for dread.

Sorry, I wrote that poorly. The fore only has one hardpoint so I stick a quad laser cannon on it, and on the aft I put another quad laser and an ion cannon battery. Ive only played a few games with it but it works for me, the primary is 4 dice at R2-4 and can fire twice so youre pretty good for firepower there. Without the quads youve got no R1 guns, which leaves you open to smaller ships doing close range attack runs. Single turbolasers are good for shooting huge and large ships at range but dont forget everything doubles its agility against them and they cant shoot at R1 or 2.

Depends on how you play it really, I tend to ram it into opponents formations to break them apart and get them to shoot it instead of the rest of my squad. The last game I played was against a CR-90 with turbolasers, it hit me hard at long range but the fore shields took the punishment and with recover actions it came out basically ok. After the raider closed in the CR-90 took a lot of damage and couldnt return it due to it being equiped for long range fighting.

Ive been meaning to try a turbolaser on the fore to make the most out of its range, mixed with the primary shooting at R2 and anything closeer at risk of getting rammed I can see it working quite well.

As for crew and team, backup shield generator has saved me a few times and with engineering team its basically a free shield every time you do a straight. I like gunnery team as well.

Can you explain that? I've only recently started looking into Epic play stuff.

That's just an oddity involving Tactician- Tactician only checks if the defender is in your arc at range 2. IT can still technically trigger on range 1 attacks on turret ships, and the like.

Ah, part of the enemy ship's base just has to be in the range 2 band.

Does measuring range work differently for Huge ships? Rulebook says you measure to the closest part of the target ship's base. As per normal rules, if part of the target's base is at range 1 and part at range 2, the attack is at range 1.

It only comes with two of the Defender titles that make them so competitive. Feel free to only get the one if you don't intend to run 3 Defenders.

The attack is, but the ship is also inside of your firing arc at range 2.

Allston wrote a few Vong stories featuring the Wraiths, which were pretty entertaining. Lando at some point during the Vong War also thought it would be funny to build a droid army with his own voice coded in just to piss off the Vong, IIRC.

And of course, the events of Mercy Kill wouldn't have gone down if not for the Vong. So as shitty as the Vong invasion stories were, we at least got Scut, the best Wraith of his generation.

ah, that explains it- the squad builder I was using had it incorrectly listed as 2 in the front, 1 in the back.

Now I'm thinking- I could swap that Turbolaser and 1 point bid to an Ion Cannon battery and a Backup Shield Generator, which could be useful.

Is that worth it? The rest of the squad would be 6 Omegas with Crack Shot and a support Upsilon Shuttle.

Is that enough anti-Low-agility, or do I still want the Turbolaser?

What's a setting that will spice up an encounter?

Two I want to use in my campaign:

-Ship crashes into water. Crew has to make their way out of the sinking ship , fight off enemies doing the same, and manage to avoid drowning.

-mine cart-like chase involving standing on top of star wars-ified speeder cart and fighting bad guys. Jumping from cart to cart

I like taking them with Ordinance tubes and then 3 x homing missile. Title that gives TLs when you kill something, weapons engineer, engine booster, Admiral Chiraneau, ordinance experts, gunnery teams, etc.

So in an FnD game me and another player are about to have a 'friendly' lightsaber duel with training emitters.We're both roughly 120 XP in. He's an Ataru Striker with a double lightsaber, I'm an Armorer with a standard lightsaber. What are the odds on me not getting demolished.
