Infinity General: Pheasant Rank Edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where the State Judiciary encourages you to stay cute on social media while crushing dissidents and still being uncomfortably expensive for a one wound model with no defensive skills

Put your visor back on you slut!

New Releases for May for Haqq and Tohaa, new Sectorials!

...

New blister packaging for Father Knights.

> Half the green guys are blurry and pixelated because they couldn't even be bothered to take moderate resolution images of their models before making their press material

This is levels of Spanish laziness that shouldn't even be possible.

Wew.

Nothing to consider seriously as a game.
Last Saga already crashed in a crowdfounding campaign, only to fall in the hands of Zenit miniatures wich essentially is the company of a single guy who has a "regular" job and his "passion" job.

These guys had their greatest hit with a 50.000$ Kickstarter with Kensei.

So, while it's funny to see the attempt of creating an Infinity ripoff, I think that Carlos over-reacted there. Those are not serious competitors.

CB should be aware of the new 40k awakening and Fantasy Flight getting into wargames.

40k and fantasy flight have different niches.

>CB should be aware of the new 40k awakening and Fantasy Flight getting into wargames.
FFG has it's own niche, I don't think they can pull players away from CB. 40k is another story, though. I've dumped 40k years ago and after the recent news I'm seriously considering coming back, and I'm not the only Infinity player in my meta who thinks about that. I'm not planning to drop infinity, though, since it's completely different from 40k and doesn't even pull the same strings.
Basically, 40k is tanks, flyers, cool dudes, epic battles, 30 years of polishing the setting, while Infinity is dynamic ARO mechanics, waifus and amazing models.

>30 years of polishing the setting
30 years of polishing a turd just makes it an extremely shiny turd.

>polishing
More like throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Then a new crew come in and repeat the process.

What are the best places to find tactics and such? YouTube channels, websites, etc... I've been reading stuff on the official forums but having a visual example is always nice, so especially YouTube channels or sites with in-depth articles and picture examples. I wish I could gain knowledge by playing but my friends aren't all that interested unfortunately.

From what I saw of the previews, they are going to try being better at what they already do: target people who never played wargames before. They recently previewed some statblocks: they removed Initiative, added Move value, changed WS and BS to show exactly what you need to roll, like saves (so Marines don't have BS 4, but 3+, removing one layer of obfuscation) and they gave several models more Wounds, as people new to wargames (children in particular) hate the idea that their models could die or that they sometimes *should* be sacrificed. So now Terminators have 2 Wounds and Dreadnoughts 8.

This makes me think the game will become quicker in some few places, but much, much slower overall.

>rolling against a number is now considered obfuscation
fuck this world, I'm getting out.

>So now Terminators have 2 Wounds and Dreadnoughts 8.

Well, atleast my Deathwings saw the sunlight again.

But since the brutallity are all just gone, it might be a no-sell.

I would recommend Guerrilla Miniature Games.

GMG gets the rules wrong on occasion. Check the comments every time, they usually get pointed out.

Hey, did anyone here go to the Rumble? How was it? Well run?

It still ain't spaghettios, hombre.

On the one hand that's one of the most blatant ripoffs I've ever seen outside of China.

On the other hand that's a really cool sword.

...

Corsair looks like Scarface to me. The Grot (wonder where they got that name from) looks like a neat stand in for a Morlock.

> Yes it is finally happening my friends
> We at Corvus have been working on Shasvastii for some time
> They are now more original than ever
> Really they are quite bad ass

I never noticed the FK was a lefty.

I love that mini. Even if I don't use my Oyoroi, I can proxy her as almost anything else. And it's a very attractive mini.

The new minutemen are a sinister bunch.

>hate the idea that their models could die or that they sometimes *should* be sacrificed
You have no idea what you're talking about. With rend and multi-wound weapons things are going to get deadlier than 7th for the toughest units. Sure, gone will be the 1-shot kills of tanks, but we won't have invisible deathstars, 2+/3++/5+++ units, rerollable 2+ cover/invul saves.

Actually the guy on the right and left look really cool. I like them a lot. And to be fair they don't look very infinity unlike some of the other stuff.

that actually looks better than the original

True, but that QT can wield a Red fury and lead a fireteam Haris of Bao's with Sensor and MSV2.

>Corsair looks like Scarface to me

So a generic gangbanger dude?

Too be fair the sculptor does sculpt for Infinity.

unless they have the sculptor on full-time i don't see a problem then.
It's not like the Infinity design are particularly original to begin with...
And the sculptors style is not something CB owns.

I'll say though, for a company that gets off on shoving pop culture references or obvious, less than subtle 'hommages' into everything I'm surprised by the saltyness. There's a certain irony to this.

>exrah-redesign.png

Well, this thread got salty in a hurry...

Oh no, Baos, the most devastating of links! Whatever will we do?

Eat Burst 5 Red Fury?

Do none of them wear shoes?

...is this a fetish thing?

I actually quite like the insectoid theme they've got going on. The armor looks good.
Nothing wrong with cheesecake, either.

>blocks your path

I'd raise my hands and cooperate with the armed and possibly unhinged spec ops agent.

...

It's less glaring when you have a whole faction of bugkini wearing ladies than one random chick in hotpants among burly armored dudes.

Why do all those guns look like german sex toys?

Because deep inside, every weapon is a german sex toy.

the weapon design in infinity is kind of silly

Only ones that sort of get away from it are ariadna and haqqislam, by way of largely just being conventional firearms.

*raises dick*
Sorry, I don't speak nazi.

I was at a tournament recently and we had the Capture the Flag mission, I forget the proper name but you have to grab a beacon and bring it home.

My opponent picked up his own beacon with a TO camo model and ran it into the corner of the table behind a TR bot, MSV sniper, repeater and several other guys

Is this actually allowed?

Nope, you can only pick up your own beacon.
Scenario rules (Capture and Protect) state:
>The trooper is in base contact with a friendly trooper in a Normal state with an Enemy Beacon.
>The Enemy Beacon is the one closest to the enemy Deployment Zone.

>Nope, you can only pick up your own beacon.
I meant: you can only pick up the Enemy Beacon.

I like it. The sword the knight has is cool.

Not that guy, but thanks.

Different noob question: is the best way to find players in your area contacting a warcor?

oh well, the TO managed to misread that line and it led to a very skewed set of scores...

I did terribly in all three rounds so it's not like that cost me a win.

My copy of Outrage arrived today, it's breddy gud I guess. The cool brown TAG pilot getting extremely dead by Guija sucked though

What's this about? Are they redesigning Shasvastii or something?

That pictured thing is somebody's kickstarter, which IIRC shares a sculptor who also works in CB. It's some kind of sci-fi "game" called the Last Saga.

Anyways, the joke is related to how Shasvasti were held back in HSN3 because CB wanted to give them an overhaul.

Dang, spoiler warning next time.

Oh good, I don't want the cool looking bug-lizard people to get turned into more cheescake.

The one statement I recall about the general aesthetic direction of the CA is that they wanted Morats to cover Morats, Onyx to cover the robotic stuff and the biotech of the Drons and Umbras, while they want Shasvasti to cover "miscellaneous" whatever that may be.

So I take it that the camouflaged troopers in this game can start prone (given that prone is one of the details mentioned of stuff you have to note with Hidden Deployment which is exclusive to TO Camo troops). The Silhoutte value would still be 2, like with mines. But do you have to put a prone marker next to the prone camouflaged trooper? Somebody's asking because there's no written answer, and all my knowledge and instinct is telling me no but I've got nothing to prove it.

>tfw your sister of battle tier faction is considered "miscellaneous"
>still no superior infiltration

Rolled 15, 16, 17 = 48 (3d20)

I declare BS attack at +3 with my combi

So thats 3 shots on 9s

Even digital dice hate me

Does anyone have the ariadna/TAK version of this meme?

Camo can deploy prone, though it'll be silhouette 0 while prone rather than silhouette 2, so it only occupies the height of the base.
I don't see why you wouldn't have to put a prone marker next to it, you need some way of noting that a model is prone.

depends on your warcor.
I happen to know 90% of the players in my area but there are some who just won't show up.

So I'm thinking of starting this. I am partly torn between the Pan Oceana noble Knights and the Catgirls of Nomads. What can I say I just really like that look.

Anyway...here is a Pan Oceana list I made using a starting kit and some other items that I thought looked cool. Woudl this be a good 300 point starting point? Made this in the army list generator from the website.

IwBmB8GYRd2ApIxBCZCCcC1NygTAoaAgAIDsClArIStQg5ACzaQLvCWn4hF8AOdihYdWwZoVJA==

But why would it be S0 if it retains the Silhouette value " printed on their troop profiles." That S0 isn't printed on its profile.

I don't have one. I just painted a starter a few years ago and might aswell get some games in sometime.

Impersonation is better than Superior Infiltration though.

How do I find my local Warcor? I went to that website listed in the quick start but it wants me to log in.

its.infinitythegame.com/warcors/list

Should work without logging in.

But then you just get discovered and blasted with your armor 1 model.

Prone works with camo markers. They become S0 from the prone rules.

It's a little short on orders. Even at the lowest point, you'll want 10 orders for 300 points. Put everyone in one entire order group, there is no reason to not to. It's like having 3 wallets which have 3, 4, and 3 dollars in them, and you can only use one on any one purchase. Just combine them all into one wallet and you have 10 dollars to spend on anything.

Also I see you've brought a TAG, but when you bring a TAG you'll want some support with it. Take advantage of their 3 wounds before being tabled by bringing an engineer to fix them back up (the PanO Machinist). Also you will want to bring a hacker to help defend it against enemy hacking, so maybe a Fusilier Hacker or having your Father Knight become the Assault Hacker profile and follow the TAG around.

Maybe get the Fusilier SWC box for some more cheap orders, the Support Pack for specialists to fix shit, or the Auxilia or Remote boxes if cost to model ratio isn't a big issue for you.

You need be discovered twice though, and the first is at -6. You can't get rid of it with one order no matter how well you roll. Things like Sensor also don't work against it, and the only 'counter' to it is a very rare visor that most people won't bring anyways. It also doesn't even need to roll to deploy past the center line, while Superior Infiltration still fails 25-20% of the time.

It takes two separate discover attempts to reveal the model, that's two orders not including possible short skills and additional orders needed to be able to move into position to begin disocovering said model, because you're not going to be short sighted to have the model directly in the open when you know you're going second.

Thanks. Looks like there are 2 in my area and I just sent messages to both. Let's see if they respond.

You know what? I don't think I've ever seen a single dude with an exoskeleton like those women have. Only guys with chitin over 90% of their bodies.

Ahh, good to know. Humm...I might be able to fudge the father knight that comes in the Icestorm battlepack as a hacker. Hold on...adjusting list some. Or would I be better served by taking something other than a tag?

Keep in mind that Infinity is a very proxy friendly game in general. There are a lot of profiles and even units in the game that don't have models right now. It's pretty acceptable to proxy something as long as it is not confusing for your opponent. The Father Knight from Ice Storm is a universal model, since he is swinging around with CCW. Every Father Knight has a CCW, so he can be any profile without problems.

I do think the TAG in your list is rather unnecessary. You're already going to be running Joan, the Father Knight, and the Orc trooper. All those models are very heavy hitters that will be using orders up on the active turn, so a TAG on top of that would be a bit much. For the same price as the Seraph you can get a Croc Man Forward Observer, a Fusilier Hacker, a Trauma Doc, and a Machinist. Not only does that make your list more versatile, but it also is 4 orders instead of 1.

Does using Forward Observer take you out of camo?

Sorry I'm coming from Warhammer 40k...
I don't have to field a minimum sized unit? I can take just the one guy if I want?

Would Crusader Knights be a good choice?

Yes. You are rolling dice for it and it is not a movement skill. If I recall right, the only thing you are allowed to do while in camo is movement skills, and only if you don't roll dice for it (so you can't discover).

You don't have to field all of the models that come in a box. You can pick whatever you want. There are some exceptions to this, but it'll explicitly show that in the army builder, like how the Seraph comes with an attached AUXBOT.

Okay, here how does this look?

Nope, there are only 3 requirements for list building, outside of special requirements like control devices, which PanO doesn't have.

First you need to establish how many points you are playing. 300 is considered the standard, but people really do play all over the place. I think 150-200 is better for starting off, and the game is still lots of fun in that range.

Second, you get 1 Special Weapon Cost for every 50 points the game is. Notice how the Seraph TAG with Spitfire has 2 SWC? In a 300 point list, you cannot go over 6 SWC while building the list. SWC is generally spent on big guns. You don't necessarily need to spend all your SWC, but it's usually a good idea to get close to your max unless you have a reason for not doing so.

Finally, the last thing you need is a lieutenant. The lieutenant is the commander of your force. Many profiles have lieutenants, and you need to choose one of them for your army. You are only allowed to have one lieutenant, and it is secret information. If you take 1 lieutenant Fusilier and then 2 more regular rifle Fusiliers, your opponent will have no idea which is your LT (or if another model with a valid LT profile might be it instead). Keep your lieutenant safe, because if he dies your next turn really sucks.

Those are the three rules of list building. Figure out the points, spend the SWC, assign an LT. Remember that in Infinity we work on a order pool system instead of every model gets their turn, so having a good pool of orders is important. You could bring 4 really beefy guys, but then you only have 4 activation of those beefy guys before it's your enemies turn. If you bring 2 beefy guys and 8 stupid cheap mooks, then you can activate those 2 beefy guys 10 times. So in general at 300 points you want to at least hit the 13-15 order threshold to have the activations to accomplish things. 10 is the hard limit, but it requires experience to play.

Dang. Makes TO hackers less useful, huh?

So I bought Red Veil and plan to play Yu Ying.

What do I need to buy in adition to the starter set to have a decent Yu Ying standard army to play?

I don't have a clue about the game yet apart form a basic explanation about the rules, I just want to know how much more money I need to invest. I specially like the mechas. Is there a playstyle where I can use a full mecha army?

It is better but there are a few other rules to keep in mind. First is that combat groups are limited to 10 units, which is to keep things from getting too out of hand with the order activation system. So you'll need to shove some excess guys into a secondary group. You can transfer people over to the main group later after you've taken casualties, or just stick people in the secondary group that will be doing their own thing and won't need many orders (like hackers keeping up support ware every turn).

You also have a civvie model there. I don't think they do anything, and I think they're not technically legal to play with. I honestly don't know why Corvus even puts them in the army builder. The tech bee is still a good idea though, since you have Joan.

Click this button on the army builder once you've made a list. It will let you know if you've made any illegal mistakes. Two drop troops in a list can be difficult to play, but it can also through opponents off. If I were you, I would stick everyone in the main group except the Akal and Hacker. The Hacker is probably just going to Fairy Dust support ware, and the Crusader can drop turn one and go wild with his HMG until he dies. Then by turn 2 or 3, you can bring the Akal over to your main group with a command token and drop another asshole from the sky.

Less useful relative to what? Being able to murderfuck things without breaking marker state would be super broken.

Aren't both companies spanish?

It really depends. The Yu Jing Remote Box and JSA Support Box are very useful, but they don't get you lot's of points in the game for your cash.

Getting some infiltrating specialists is a very good buy. You can get two Guliangs as blisters and they are amazing units.

This unfortunately is not a game where you can field nothing but Mechs. It's very much a skirmish level game, so if you bring one Mech, it's going to be the center of your list and dominate the battlefield until it dies. The Guijia and O-Yoroi are both very solid TAGs though.

If Powered Armor is your thing, Yu Jing has it in spades, and we have a lot of cheap options for it too. Fielding multiple Heavy Infantry is quite viable in Yu Jing, though you will still probably want support troops with them.

There aren't too many things I would consider mandatory buys in Infinity. You can actually buy a lot of stuff you think looks cool and make it work. The important must haves eventually would be the Remote Box, a Support Box with Engineer/Doctor, at least some infiltrating specialists (but the Ninja in Red Veil can do this), and a decent amount of low cost basic infantry models to give orders to power pieces (the Starter 3 rifle infantry and the SWC box of the same infantry is usually enough).

Guilang combi (run as FO or hacker), Yaokong box (assemble as reaction + sensor), Yaoxie box, Yan Huo HRMC, chain rifle Shaolin Monks, Aragoto box, are all good picks. Basically, pick some forward specialists (Ninja + Tiger + Guilang will be plenty), some beaters (HMG Hsien or Zuyong or Yan Huo or maybe Hac Tao), weird toolkits (Weibing drone is a fast specialist and a sensor suite, Yaoxie bots give you cheap MSV), and some cheap orders/backup/general DZ defense (Zhanshi/Keisotsu). Aragoto are blitzkrieg glass cannons, add to taste. Shaolin monks are cheap source of smoke screen and general pests.

Alright. Put the Akal, Haker and Tech Bee in group 2. That should fix my problems right?

Mechas as in TAGs? Not really. Two TAG lists are a thing but they're very gimmicky. You can run a ton of HI (power armor) or drones, though.

Not a terrible list for friendly games with models you think are cool. It would be nice if you could figure out how to spend 2 SWC, like bumping the Orc up to an HMG or something. But that requires more tweaking. List tweaking becomes easier once you get a bigger collection.

Power armor based is cool too. Ideally I would have a Guija/Transformer, and several HI.
