If it's a centaur, there's no need for a jockey. The 'horse' has intelligence itself to behave in a competitive manner. Their 'bond' is of no importance since the mount could and would perform much better on it's on, without the additional weight of a man on top of it.

Whenever you see something in a work of fiction that isn't realistic or practical, instead of complaining that it isn't realistic or practical, consider instead what the creator was attempting to do with their work. Very rarely is a creator striving for absolute, perfect adherence to reality. Usually they have some other aim in mind. They want a certain dramatic twist, or a certain relationship between two characters, or to conjure a specific tone, or to cater to some specific fantasy (theirs or the audience's).
This goes for centaur-jockey gay relationships, to spaceship dogfights, to the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Realism is not the goal. Drama and fantasy is. The sooner you accept that, the happier you'll be for it.

If it has been licenced into english then you wont see any scans. When a series is sold in western world then the copyright infringements are dealt more harshly and scanlator groups want you to buy the book because now you can support the author.

You don't do that with a horse who may be worth hundreds of millions in the breeding shed, dude. If it costs a few million in surgery and care to get him to where they can hobble around, it won't matter if they never race again.
The reason why injured horse usually has to go the way of glue and salami is because it doesn't have the reason to stop exerting the injured leg. So you need to either fixate the leg well enough that it would not be able to exert it (and to make sure the horse doesn't injure itself even worse wobbling around on three legs) or you need to look for a new horse.
Centaur with intellect similar to human will not have this issue.
